Popular Nigerian celebrity and media personality, Toke Makinwa has revealed why marriage should have an expiry date.

According to the TV host, Toke Makinwa, marriage should have an expiry date subject to renewal. The couples should be able to sit down and evaluate and renew their agreements when the union expires.

She wrote on Twitter,

 “I think marriage should have an expiry and subject to renewal clause after a certain number of years, like the way we renew agreements, people should be allowed to look back on time out in, grade themselves and hit the renewal button if they can still stand each other”

According to reports, Univeristy of Oxford has now developed a vaccine for coronavirus that has so far proved to be working.

Olusegun Isekaiye reports on twitter reports that the vaccine developed by the British University has already been tested on 1,077 patients who are developing immunity over the virus.

"A coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford appears safe and triggers an immune response. Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and T-cells that can fight coronavirus. UK has ordered 100m doses."

Prof Andrew Pollard, from the Oxford research group told the BBC: "We're really pleased with the results published today as we're seeing both neutralising antibodies and T-cells.

"They're extremely promising and we believe the type of response that may be associated with protection.

"But the key question everyone wants to know is does the vaccine work, does it offer protection... and we're in a waiting game."

The study showed 90% of people developed neutralising antibodies after one dose. Only ten people were given two doses and all of them produced neutralising antibodies.

"We don't know the level needed for protection, but we can maximise responses with a second dose," Prof Pollard told the BBC.

He however confirmed there are side effects noting that 70% of the persons tested developed headache and fever. The next stage of the trial will involve more than 10,000 persons as the University tries to ensure the vaccine brings less harm to humans.

Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has been banned from returning to China.

Daily Mail reports that foreign players may not be able to return to the country until October, although the new season begins in June.

About a third of the Chinese Super League’s players are currently outside of China and face being refused entry until much later in the year.

Ighalo is among a huge group of players and managers that fall into that category, including Dalian Yifang manager Rafa Benitez.

However, the 30-year-old’s agent, Ladi Salami, has hinted that the Nigerian striker might end up remaining in the UK. According to Salami, an extension is close to being agreed.

Ighalo joined United on a six-month loan deal in January, which expires on May 31.

He has scored four times in eight appearances.

The President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu has released two gay men who were jailed last year for having sex with each other.

Japhet Chataba and Steven Samba, were jailed last year for engaging in same sex intercourse but were among the names of prisoners listed to be pardoned to mark Africa Freedom Day, which fell on Monday.

Zambia is a deeply conservative society where homosexual acts are illegal.


This was legislation inherited from the British colonial era.

Last November, a High Court in the capital, Lusaka, sentenced the two men for having sex "against the order of nature".

They had booked into a lodge, and a worker peeped through an open window and saw them having sex, the court heard.

COVID-19 patients being discharged from the Minna Isolation center has called out the Niger state government for the poor treatments given to them in the isolation center.

The Nation reports that some of the patients claimed not have received a single drug for treatment since their arrival at the isolation centers.

One of the discharged patients who was picked up from Zumba in Shiroro local government said that he was tested positive and quarantined at the isolation centre and that he was expecting to be treated and given drugs throughout his stay at the isolation centre but none was administered to him.

“I expected that I will undergo some treatment, but apart from food, nothing was given to me in the form of treatment. They did not give me a single drug.

“They only give us food every day that is all. No single drug, not even paracetamol was given to me throughout the 14 days”, he said.

He further disclosed that his mother and other relations who were also picked up and quarantined with him were also treated shabbily.

He stated that after their discharge, they were not provided with transportation and were told to find their way adding that money for transportation was not given to them.

“They just came and asked us to go. They did not tell us how we would move neither did they consider that we may not have any money to transport us home.

“We trekked from the isolation centre at the back of the police secondary school to the main road. From there, we trekked to Dutsen Kuran Gwari before someone assisted us to Sabon Gari junction.

“It was at Sabon Gari that a commercial vehicle carried us to Zumba before we now borrowed money from our people to pay the driver”.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has begged the Buhari led administration to end the 14-day total lockdown imposed on the state due to the hike in coronavirus cases reported in the state.

The state of Kano is on a total lockdown following President Buhari’s order issued  on Monday as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus disease.

Buhari had also announced the deployment of a team of health experts to address the rising cases of “unusual deaths” in the state.

Ganduje during the inauguration of a panel to support the Kano State Task Force Technical Committee, highlighted that it is best to relax the lockdown to reduce the hardship in the state.

“We would engage the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to seek permission to relax the total lockdown imposed on Kano.

“We are making this appeal on behalf of our people who are presently running out of food items. We would love the federal government to relax the lockdown for a period of time to enable people stock their homes, especially now that majority of us are fasting. It will also ease the economic hardship in the state,” Ganduje said, according to TheCable.

A medical staff attached to FIFA has urged the English FA to cancel the 2019-20 premier league season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
FIFA’s medical chief Michel D’Hooghe say he wants the Premier League season nullified with fear about players’ health. The Belgian medical personnel compared the fight against the pandemic to World War II and insists that the season should not resume, but start a new campaign in Setempber.

D’Hooghe warned: “The world is not ready for competitive football. “If there is one moment where absolute priority should be given to health and medicine, it is this. “That is why I ask everybody to be very careful before starting competitions again. “I will be happy if we can have nothing before the start of next season. Ten European countries have recorded no new coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours. These countries include Italy, Spain, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and France.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 218,000 lives with 59,266 deaths in the US and 23,822, 27,359, 23,660 in Spain, Italy and France respectively.

Apart from the United States of America with over a million recorded cases, no country has more coronavirus cases compared to Italy and Spain. Germany has equally succeeded in getting over two million of its population tested for the pandemic.

Barely 24 hours ago, ten European countries; Italy, Spain, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal and France has recorded no new coronavirus deaths.

Spain has announced it shall relax the coronavirus lockdown on May 4th.


Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez revealed a four-phase plan to successfully relax the lockdown enforced on the nation to control the coronavirus outbreaks.
According to Reuters, the aim of this four-phase plan is to ensure normality returns by the end of June.
The lifting of the strict measures will begin on May 4 and vary from region to region depending on factors such as how the rate of infection evolves, the number of intensive care beds available locally and how regions comply with distancing rules, he said.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC says the high rate of COVID-19 cases in Kano was expected.
The agency has been directly involved in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said on Monday in Abuja that the agency would increase testing for the virus across the country as a strategy to succeed.

He reassured all Nigerians at the daily briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 that the country is actually winning the battle regardless of the increase in cases.

Speaking about the rapid rise in cases in Kano, Ihekweazu explained that the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Kano State were not surprising.

“I will like to remind everyone that we remain focused on our target which is to increase testing across the country; during a pandemic, the risk of spread is in those towns where the population density is highest.

“We are all aware of the population density in Kano. The high number of cases we are now seeing in Kano is really not a surprise,” he said.

“Since reporting its index case about two weeks ago, Kano has been the centre of controversies ranging from the rapid increase in number of confirmed cases to the sudden halt of its only testing centre.

“Kano, which currently stands as the third hardest-hit state in Nigeria has so far reported 77 cases out of the 1,273 cases of the infection Nigeria,” he said.

Ihekweazu said that NCDC was also working hard to investigate the cause of some deaths in the state.

He said that the agency did everything possible to activate the Kano laboratory.

The director-general said that the laboratory, domiciled at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, hosted many northern states.

England defender Luke Shaw has named Chelsea winger Victor Moses as one of his toughest opponents.
The 24-year-old left-back who plays for Manchester United has played against some of Europe’s best players since making his professional debut eight years ago – including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – but it is Moses who has made a lasting impression.

Luke Shaw says the Nigeria international, Victor Moses is one of his toughest opponents. Victor is currently on loan at Inter Milan, was one of Chelsea’s standout performers under Antonio Conte during their 2016/17 title-winning season.

“People always think I’m joking, but one of my hardest games ever was against Victor Moses when I was coming in as a 17-year-old at Southampton,” Shaw said on United’s official website.

“Maybe because I was so young. He was really quick, direct, strong and that was a challenge for me.

“I’ve played against the likes of Gareth Bale, Messi and [Eden] Hazard, and they were all so good, but I always remember Victor Moses as a really tough opponent as well.”
