By Ehi Ekhator The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has reacted to the grumbles by some members of the party concerning the decision to select Ali Modu Sheriff as its National Chairman. While speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Sunday, Chief Metuh disclosed that PDP members didn't expect Sheriff as the party Chairman since he didn't signify interest in the position. He said that he believes in the new chairman judging from his experiences in politics. Metuh took a swipe on the opposition members who decided to make this about them and Boko Haram, wondering how come Sheriff was not a member of the terrorist group, as alleged by some, when he was a member of the All Progressives Congress. Metuh said "I think the choice of Ali Modu Sheriff was unexpected by some of our party people, and the first reaction we are seeing is the shock of surprise to the emergence being that he never declared interest in the contest. It is expected that people are a bit surprised at the turn of event. "Haven’t said that, the basic thing is that the NEC committee has done its job. The constitution says a person will be elected from the North East zone, we have done that and everything was followed. "The chairman has started well by saying he is going to reach out to other people in terms of reconciliation. He is starting well by saying he is going to look inward to make the party strong. Let the party members and the organs be much more united than they have ever been. These are good signs to mean that, because it is only when you are strong that you can get ready to face the competition outside. Explaining why Sheriff selection is very important to the progress of the party, Metuh said " We didn’t lose the election because our rivals brought something new. They didn’t bring something new, they didn’t bring a new candidate, a new set of people, they brought people with a lot of experience, and they brought a candidate who has lost election for four times. "What is needed now is practical politics. In terms of practicality, is he going to be effective, useful to the party? We ask that our members give the chairman time to settle down and bring out his own program for the party. He comes very experienced; he comes with a lot of political benefit and goodwill. He is a grass root politician. House of reps, three times elected senator, two times elected governor and wide network of contacts. Let us see how it goes. "Alimodu Sheriff is not going to be the sole administrator of the party. He is going to be a national chairman with eleven other members of the National Working Committee. The NWC is going to work in hand with the Governor’s Forum, PDP leaders in the National Assembly, the Board of Trustee and other people to make sure we move this party ahead. "Since we lost the election, we have done very well. We have won majority of the elections that was held since May 29. It means the leadership of the party is working well and Ali Modu Sheriff is joining that winning leadership of the party with his own experience, benefit and quality and together we will continue to build on it and make sure the party is built to face the challenges ahead" Modu Sheriff selection has brought more gap between members of the opposition as many accused him of having links with the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram. It was gathered that some members of the party are already withdrawing their memberships while the Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko who is the Chairman of the PDP Governor Forum, has intervened by inviting ex-ministers of the former President, Goodluck Jonathan for a discussion. A video also emerged on the social media where Goodluck JOnathan described Modu Sheriff as a friend of Boko Haram. Explaining to NAIJA CENTER NEWS, the National Publicity Secretary quoted a statement credited to the new party Chairman that he is not a friend but an enemy to the terrorist group. Metuh said Sheriff was the APC Chairman Board of Trustee and he led ANPP into joining forces with other parties that brought about APC, and then he was not a member of the sect. He questioned the sincerity in the sudden realization that the new chairman is a member of the terrorist group whereas two weeks ago, the APC was celebrating his planned defection both on social and print media. "What i can tell you is that the national chairman has made a statement on Tuesday in an interview where he disclosed that he never had any contact or accepted them; he reported them to the police several times. He is actually their enemy in the sense that they killed his blood brother, killed the state chairman of his party, killed the gubernatorial candidate of his party in 2011, and there was a time that Boko Haram outlawed him and chased him out of Borno. "There is a point that he made that is very important. He said nobody called him Boko Haram when he was in APC as chairman of the Board of Trustee, nobody called him Boko Haram when he led the ANPP into joining APC, nobody called him Boko Haram when they found APC and was working with them but the moment he came to PDP, they started saying he is Boko Haram, now as Chairman they tag him Boko Haram. "But two weeks before he was nominated as National Chairman, there was a rumour that he was joining APC and he was being well celebrated in the social and print media by APC people. Suddenly, less than two weeks later, he emerges as National Chairman of PDP and they remembered he is Boko Haram. I can’t speak for him but he is saying categorically that he is being sponsored by the enemy of his politics. Metuh assured that the choice of Sheriff will not bring more division, adding that the Chairman will add value to the party. "I don’t think it will bring division. There will be no division, he has come to join the winning team, he has a lot of value to add and he is not a minor in any means." He said. says Buhari package Aluko to silence him By Ehi Ekhator, NAIJA CENTER The governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has taken a swipe on the President, Muhammadu Buhari on his alleged fight against corruption. The governor said Buhari is targetting members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP instead of an overall fight. Fayose disclosed this through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi while speaking with NAIJA CENTER NEWS on Tuesday. Fayose accused Buhari of being biased, urging him to extend his fight against corruption beyond the immediate administration to display a sign of seriousness to Nigerians. The governor advised the President to probe how the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign was funded by the former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi and the National leader of the APC and a former governor of Lagos State, Bola tinubu. The governor said "President Buhari's fight against corruption is selective, targeted at members of the PDP. Gov Fayose is not opposed to the fight against corruption, but it must be total. "If Buhari want Nigerians to see him as being serious and not partial, he suppose to extend probe beyond the immediate past administration. "He should probe the money donated by the APC members to fund his campaign and election. Big donors like Rotimi Amaechi, Bola Tinubu, among others should tell Nigerians the sources of the money they donated to get Buhari into power. "Buhari also need to publish account of Petroleum Trust Fund ( PTF) under him as chairman then. Buhari should reopen the Halibuton scandal under Obasanjo administration" Fayose asked the President to probe Atiku and APC governors who have properties in Dubai. "The APC members like Atiku Abubakar and APC governors having property in Dubai should be unmasked. The involvement of Buhari's wife in scandal which Obasanjo mentioned in his latest book should be investigated. "When Buhari has done all these, many Nigerians will take him serious. As it is now, only PDP members are targeted" Speaking on TKO Aluko interview on a National Tv, Fayose alleged that the disclosure was a move by APC to silence him because of his continous criticism. According to the governor who quoted the international observer, Ekiti governorship election was the most transparent in Nigeria history. Fayose told NAIJA CENTER NEWS that "The appearance of TKO Aluko on the Channels TV was packaged by the Buhari and the APC to silence Governor Ayodele Fayose because of the persistent criticism of Buhari's obnoxious policies. "Aluko was rented to tell those lies on the TV and rubbish the election. We know but we are not moved. This is an election which was adjudged the most transparent in Nigeria history by the local and international observers and as well international communities. We cannot compare Oshiomhole with PDP 8yrs in Edo – Senator Roland Owie Never Again Shall we deal with Imposition – Prince Edobor By Ehi Ekhator. All is not well in the camp of Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the choice of candidate in the next coming governorship election. Just as there is a problem over an alleged imposition of candidate in the state All Progressives Congress, NAIJA CENTER NEWS gathered that the PDP aspirants are equally fighting some cabals planning to impose their anointed candidate. According to investigation, Edo State Party Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih invited some leaders to Abuja for a meeting at Chief Tony Anenih’s residence. Those in attendance were reported to be loyal associates of one of the aspirants, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Discussion concerning the upcoming governorship election and state congress were top on the agenda in the meeting. The leaders who were in support of other Aspirants other than those for Pastor Iyamu were not invited. For example, Senator Rowland Owie and Chief Ben Edo, two very top members of the Edo South curcus as number two and three respectively were not invited, a move that did not augur well with the other aspirants and their supporters. - See more at: http://www.naijacenter.com/politics/exclusive-ikimi-orbih-igbinedion-planning-hijack-pdp-candidacy-anointed-candidate/ |

By Ehi Ekhator, United Kingdom Some angry casual staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) took to the street on Wednesday to protest their complete neglect by their contractors. The workers blocked the entrance of the NNPC requesting for the payment of 9 months from the contractors. One of the protesters who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS said that the government paid the contractors who have refused to pay them. Despite the contractors inability to pay on time, they also resolved to cut their salaries by 25%. A protester who didn't want to be named said " We are in Warri refinery, we are on a demonstration in refinery. They have held our salaries for seven months, some over twelve months. The promises we have been hearing is that there is no money, so we matched today that no one is going in and out until our monies are paid. "The contractors owe the support staff for many months, they said they held their meetings and told us they will pay us at the end of the month, but we said that is too far" "But what we knew was the former Managing Director, Engr Adewole ladenegan mismanage our fund which some of this present management were among "Inside this non payment they slashed the salary by 25% from may" Several calls put across to manager of one of the contractors, Desire Mike were not answered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbyKn572LJM http://www.naijacenter.com/news/video-nnpc-casual-workers-block-gate-entrance-over-unpaid-salaries/ |
By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News A former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke was arrested based on Oil Swap Deal, NAIJA CENTER NEWS can authoritatively report. The former minister who was arrested in London on Thursday by UK's National Crime Agency, signed a contract on behalf of the Federal government during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's administration. The $50bn Crude Oil Swaps Deal refer to an arrangement whereby about fifty percent 50 percent of the nation’s daily quota of crude oil meant for domestic refining and consumption are given to some local companies in the oil and gas sector which then sell the products in the international market and thereafter import petroleum products, including derivatives or byproducts on behalf of the NNPC and PPMC for sale and distribution in the country. Nigerian daily quota of crude oil for local consumption is about 445,000 barrels. This arrangement was necessitated by the inability of the local refineries to operate at their fully installed capacities which would have been able to refine all the daily domestic quota of crude oil. The Offshore Processing Agreements (OPAs) involved the allocation of the daily domestic quota of crude oil to some local companies in the oil and gas sector. The companies then take the crude oil to refineries outside the country, refine them into petroleum products, including derivatives or byproducts, and import them into the country on behalf of the PPMC. Alison-Madueke was accused of masterminding the development that led to less quantity of petroleum products, byproducts and derivatives being imported into the country by the local companies in exchange for the crude oil allocated to them by the NNPC. A source at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) who spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS in anonymity said " An investigation was carried out and a lot of shitty deals was found to be done by Alison-Madueke. The file was passed on to the London Police who passed it on to the International Corruption Unit of the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), and when they were able to establish that the allegations were true, they picked her up. "Some of the issue that raised high attention is the Oil Swap Deals. She signed the Oil swap deal on behalf of the Federal Government running into billions of dollars, and it seems to be some dusts under the surface and the Presidency is trying to get to the bottom of it. This is the main issue, there are a lot of other minor issues but Oil Swap Deal is the major issue. "She is going to be tried in the UK for fraud and money laundering. Every evidences, information in the commission will be transferred to the London Met Police. For the oil Swap Deal Alone, she is being charged up to the sum of $16bn dollars" Responding to why the former minister is not tried in Nigeria, the source said "The major problem we have in Nigeria judiciary system is the burden of truth. This is a life factor even herself must prove beyond reasonable doubt. But in UK, if i see you driving a new car, i can launch a case against you in court and you will come and prove how you got fund to acquire the car. But in Nigeria, it is different, how will someone who launch a case against you to provide evidence to the court that you bought a car using criminal proceeds. So burden of truth is our basic problem in Nigeria, but they are trying to reverse it." In September, a civil society group focused on transparency in the oil and gas sector criticized the interim Offshore Processing Agreement, OPA, between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and three multinational trading companies to boost the supply of refined petroleum products in the country. The Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice said the process of engaging the companies fell short of the provisions of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) Act 2007. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News A former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola shot himself on the foot when he came up to the public yesterday to admit that he spent N78.3m to upgrade a wordpress website, a free application with a premium version that barely cost $500. He shot himself even more when in the process of explaining the way the money was spent, called his critics pig by saying “When you wrestle with a pig, the pig gets happy and you get dirty.” Fashola said that apart from N12m that was actually paid for the upgrade of www.tundefashola.com, other things like mobile apps for Google, IOS, Microsoft and Research in Motion (Blackberry) where included in the N78.3m He explained that the Lagos State procurement agency gave no objection on the advice of the Ministry of Science and Technology, who are the Government adviser on ICT matters. If ICT in Lagos actually knew what they were doing, they would have known that it was outrageous to cost a website upgrade at N78.3m. He said “One of the services was an “upgrade” quoted for N12.5 million but awarded for N12 million. There were other services that were new; like a handover countdown clock, mobile Apps for Google, for IOS and ipad, for Microsoft, and for Research in Motion (Blackberry), which the existing website did not have, as well as the annual maintenance cost for managing the website. “It was for all these services that the contract was issued for N78 million, which the Lagos State procurement agency gave a No Objection based on the advice of the Ministry of Science and Technology, who are the Government adviser on ICT matters. In publishing this Contract award which was the Government tradition under my watch, the procurement agency’s website summarised it as “upgrade” only without detailing the other services and this has been distorted by the agents of hate as their suspected “smoking gun”. What Fashola in his explanation failed to realized was that the amount was not N1m. He also failed to realize that there are millions of Nigerians who are very privy to what it actually cost to design an expensive website. 23 hours before Fashola released a statement, the website Whois was updated. Meaning, some details about who registered the site and who designed the site were adjusted. According to the information page, the site was registered by Info Access Plus Limited just as the government alleged, but the official email of the claimed designer was dotun.oyetunde@einfoplus.com but the website www.einfoplus.com was completely unreachable. A closer look at the information page of the einfoplus.com did not provide any organization name. This simply means that the organization who provided its information on Fashola’s website forgot to provide company information on its own official website info page. Meanwhile, the address provided by the purported Info Access Plus is 46, Ajanaku Street, Opebi-Ikeja, Lagos. NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent visited the above address on Sunday and found that it is an estate. There were many police at the entrance which was an indication that it belongs to one top government officials. There was no signboard, and one of the gatemen who spoke to our reporter confirmed that there was no business or a website builder office and it’s a residential area. Due to continuous stare by the police at our correspondent, he left the area in order to avoid attack or unnecessary accusation that may throw him in jail if his identity was blown open. Fashola, the bride of the media as he is fondly called quickly take a swipe on The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) for calling on and writing to the President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate him in his letter of explanation, boasting that he is not looking for a job. He said “I cannot conclude without responding to the crusade of CACOL and their ilk, seeking my prosecution on allegations that have no proof and writing “pre-emptive” letters to the Presidency. In case they are unaware, I am not looking for a job. I expect them to know that allegations of wrong doing are not resolved without evidence, neither are they resolved in press conferences.” Obviously, for a man who spent 78.3m naira on a website upgrade shouldn’t be searching for a job. On Sunday, CACOL fired back at Fashola. The Executive Chairman, The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary defines a “pig” as an unpleasant or offensive person; a person who is dirty or greedy. Based on this premise, leaders who deliberately run elitist, oppressive and draconian government can only be described by no other name, but pigs. “A government that causes so much hardship to the largest stratum of the socio-economic ladder, whereas it engages in obscene affluence all in the name of white elephant projects that have no direct bearing on the suffering Lagosians, is nothing but a pig. “It will be foolhardy for a man who requires pork to say he wouldn’t wrestle with a pig. How does he intend to get it? After all it has been said, ‘No willing pig provides pork; whoever desires pork wrestles the pig down for it!’ CACOL investigation on how much it costs to build a website like that of Fashola pinned its price at N6m. “Every IT person CACOL has contacted put an over-bloated estimate of the cost of the website at about N6m. We are not surprised that a contract that could have cost N6m could be ballooned to N78.3m, because that is a trademark of Mr. Fashola’s administration.” Fashola administration has been marred with different allegation on Financial misappropriation as many of his critics believed that his administration was run in secrecy. By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News A former governor of Lagos State, a former messiah Babatunde Fashola came out of the secret box on Friday as it was discovered by a budget analytic firm, BudgiT that he has recklessly spent an outrageous amount of money on a personal page. Fashola is one of the outstanding governors who many Nigerians believed would meet the requirement of the new President, Muhammadu Buhari non corrupted list until Saturday when it was discovered that he spent N78.3m on a website from the state government coffers. Nigerians turned to doubting Thomas wondering how a website upgrade built on a wordpress, a free application could cost 300,000 let alone the recorded amount. Another surprising angle of the scenario is that the so called website company, Info Access Plus Limited has no personal page. That is, a website that designs other websites does not have an official page where people can refer to. Until Saturday, the name Info Access Plus Limited did not neither appear on any social network, nor on Google. Probably disturbed by the new development, a statement was released from nowhere alleged to have been a press release from the website company, denying receiving such an amount of money to upgrade the website, yet defending the governor of his action by quoting the cost of several multimillion websites like twitter and Facebook. “While we do not hold brief for the Lagos State Government, the selective loading of contracts awarded and executed by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency is itself suspect and aimed at a pre-determined end. The statement of the Contract Line Item and the cost ascribed on the website of the agency are therefore misleading and mischievous” According to Bloomberg, theObamacare Enrollment System web site costs more than $2 Billion. According to the YCharts, theAnnual Facebook Cost of Goods Sold for December 31, 2014, is $2.153B from revenue of $12.47B. According to the same YCharts, theAnnual Twitter Cost of Goods Sold for December 31, 2014, is $446.31M from revenue of $1.403B. According to the same YCharts, theAnnual Microsoft Cost of Goods Sold for December 31, 2014, is $33.04B from revenue of $93.58B. According to the same YCharts, theAnnual Google Cost of Goods Sold for December 31, 2014, is $25.69B from revenue of $66B. According to the same YCharts, theAnnual Apple Cost of Goods Sold for December 31, 2014, is $112.26B from revenue of $182.80B. All these private sector driven Operating Costs still run into several billions, while taking serious effort to reduce waste. It’s evident from these stated facts that good products take huge amount of planning, time and resources. Was the Facebook built and maintained with less than $500,000? Anyone making this claim is dubious, the company outlined. The statement alleged that Fashola website belongs to the state government forgetting that the government already has its official website at www.lagosstate.gov.ng/. The alleged website company revealed that Fashola’s personal page is www.brforg.org and not www.tundefashola.com which actually takes the name of the former governor. “The website in question is not Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola’s personal website but an official website which reports and documents his official activities as a way of socially accounting for his stewardship to the people of Lagos State” the statement said. Still on the defence, the company alleged that former governor launched the tundefashola’s website, to giving citizens unfettered access to the Governor’s daily activities and open access to information. It is imperative to state here that lagosstate official website was created for the same purpose. It could be recalled that in 2013, the political son to Asiwaju Tinubu (Fashola) was accused of spending 600 million naira on the purchase of two bullet proof cars which was completely denied by the state government. Many Lagosians including some civil societies have asked President Buhari not to elevate Fashola or appoint him to any position has his administration was marred with secrecy. In a letter titled “Don’t elevate Fashola,” addressed to President Buhari, The Executive Chairman of the group, Mr. Debo Adeniran said if Buhari wanted to actualise his mission of ‘change’ he would need to distance himself from controversy. Adeniran said his organisation was troubled by many dilapidated schools in the state. He noted that when the Socio-Economic Right Accountability Project invoked the Freedom of Information Act to know how the Fashola government spent a $200m World Bank education funds, the state government refused to disclose it. He said instead, the state government continued to run its affairs in secrecy by claiming that the FOI Act did not apply to state governments. “Mr. President, we are constrained at this point in time to bring to your attention our critical reaction to the unbridled speculation making the rounds for some time now, from the members of the public as well as the media, as to the fact that the immediate past governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, is being considered by the presidency for higher national responsibility. Feelers have it that his name is prominent on the list of the president’s nominees for key offices in your administration. “It is gratifying that you have promised at various fora that your appointments would be purely based on merit and that tested technocrats, with impeccable records, would be given their rightful places in your administration, as a way of ensuring good governance to the people of Nigeria. It is against this background that our organisation is appealing to you to please take the pains to dig deep into Mr. Babatunde Fashola’s record of performance as well as that of financial propriety on the part of his government while in office.” President Buhari had pledged to fight corruption irrespective of the party member involved and with this new development, Nigerians are expecting to read the response of the presidency since it has been active on related matters. The position of the presidency on the fight against corruption in his party will determine the level of commitment he has to genuinely fight the graft, which is now a scourge sending Nigeria to its untimely grave. The governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose had days ago, urged Buhari to start his probe on those who sponsored his election. Fayose said” Some of those who sponsored the President’s election have not done any other jobs apart from holding public offices. Yet, they provided private jets and funds with which the President campaigned across the length and breadth of Nigeria. He should let Nigerians know where they got money to buy private jets and the several billions of naira spent on his election. “No one sits with corruption to fight corruption because as it is today, President Buhari is sitting among corrupt people and he must first extricate himself from the comity of corruption”. There are indications that Fashola, a former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, the governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola among others are those who sponsored Buhari’s election. As the problem of website upgrade continues to generate uproar among Nigerians, Fashola nor his aides have release statements to counter the impression already created. A section of the media reported that Fashola’s aide was reached for comment but refused to talk on the issue. From all indications, Fashola, judging from the new development, may not be a saint after all but a deceptive broad day robber. Guys what do you think of this? Lol deceptive broad day robber. hehe. Lol, i posted it here because i read the post from beginning to the end and i love all there. When Nigerians were told to look before they leap, they refused to listen. Though it is too early to judge and crucify now, but many Nigerians who voted for Buhari are already regretting. South West, South East, and even some Northern brothers. I like Ehi Ekhator's reports, i have never read anything like false report before that will lead to apologising to the general public for misleading information. |
By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News. Though the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was tagged clueless, stupid, unreasonable, weak and many more, Nigerians are already singing his praise. Less than two months he handover the mantle of leadership to the new President, Muhammadu Buhari, many Nigerians are already begging for forgiveness, wishing they could turn back the hands of time to make things right. After President Jonathan urged Nigerians to support Buhari in the war against terrorism, Nigerians started expressing their pains and sufferings since the new administration took over. Among the comments on Jonathan's wall, which was monitored by NAIJA CENTER NEWS, many Nigerians knocked Buhari's administration, calling him different names like baba go slow while praising the former President. Yemi Ogunyemi who on his profile, shows Abuja begged Nigerians for their forgiveness for canvassing for Buhari during the Presidential election, he said "Please the whole world should investigate this; it's obvious I Was hypnotised in Voting and canvassing for Muhammadu Buhari in the last Presidential Election. I was not conscious of my actions and please, once more on behalf of scammed and hypnotised Nigerians I tender my apology to the most tactful and shrewd president Nigeria ever had, Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, I'm sorry for falling for the greatest scam ever known to man. I'm sorry, sir." A Nigerian, Emeka John Okenwa said "Baba Jona, ever since you left office Indeed nothing matters anymore in Nigeria, all because the rightful owners of Nigeria has taken over. The Born-To-Rule are in-charge now so nothing matters. The alleged missing Chibok babes doesn't matter anymore. The Boko Haram killing doesn't matter anymore. Delay in Governance doesn't matter anymore in fact is no longer called being clueless, incapacitated, weakling but a merely time taking to take a proper and wise decision. Indeed Sir, you are right with this your quote "Nigeria will praise me when I leave office". I miss you so much sir." Another Nigerian, Omeiza Adavize John who commented on the President's post said: You are a Man of Peace... Nigeria will always recognise you" Alphonsus Owuh said "Nigeria will one day know that you are God's sent to this nation. Enjoy your day sir. We love you" One of the commentators, Deola Idowu Alabi gave a knock to President Buhari, saying "APC's change is yet to change the boko harram killings.they said GEJ couldn't handle BH ,now has GMB stopped them!my guy u remain the hero of our time.God bless GEJ,God bless Nigeria.one love" Ike Michael said "Sir, He that sow wind must surely reap whirlwind. Buhari used insecurity and killings perpetuated by Boko Haram to gain power, let's see how he will remove the larder that took him to Aso Rock" "Sometimes i wonder if really u are flesh n blood, other politicians in your position would simply castigate, abuse n point fingers at the present administration, but here u are praying n asking even those that voted u out of power to pray n fight this battle together, Chai i respect u die oga Jonathan,God will continually use u to transform our great country, God bless Nigeria,God bless GEJ", another commentator, Chikezie Honey Okonkwo lamented. Ekene Emmanuel said "Your intentions for nigerians were good...bt nigeria politicians are too ambitious. u will 4ever remain in our minds. God bless" Don Dolores advised Jonathan not to bother about insurgency anymore alleging that Buhari formed the group to frustrate his administration. He said "Why worry yourself about boko haram....it's the handwork of buhari to frustrate you out of office.....and am glad tinubu has been sidelined.....you have good intentions for the country but the northerners crippled all your efforts....God bless you and your generation" "The worst thing that happened to Nigeria in 2015 is your absence at the helm of affairs of this country. Please God, bring back Goodluck Jonathan for us", Ezenwa Iheduru cried. Emmanuel Chigozie Michael said "This is what Buhari failed to do, he never believed he was gonna win the election, he was busy criticizing your effort as a president without military background. Now Nigerians want to see how he will perform the magic he promised us. As a retired general, this is the time for Nigerians to test his capability. but I pray he succeeds." "You are a real Christian. God bless you sir, though we need you back. Nigeria has gone to the worst state ever since you left us. The house members are now exchanging blows every day. Bombing has increased. The new Government is a fake one. Please #BringBackGEJ" Steve Eze lamented Nnaemeka Emmanuel Ukwuma said "You (Jonathan) sold us too cheap into tbe hands our enemy. We regret your weakness, things are not thesame. PMB vow to take sharia across Nigeria by opening all the military check point. Pray for our Nation Biafra that is where we are today." "The president Nigeria once had and wish we still have after we were deceived by some wicked power drunk. Each day I read your update sir and your maturity to support those that wish you all manner of evil just to get power I weep. May God continue to keep you sir as many of us are learning from your simplicity, political ideology and patriotic zest for Nigeria.. " Another Nigerian, Machief Ayuba Mallo cried out. It could be recall that Jonathan told Nigerians that though he was being insulted, but would be remembered for his good governance when he left. |
In this interview, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, spoke with NAIJA CENTER NEWS correspondent on Friday concerning the problem in the National Assembly, Buhari's administration, among others: By Ehi Ekhator, Naija Center News With the problem in the national assembly, how long do you think the APC will last? Well, we wish the APC to last as long as necessary as long as they are in office, because the option of APC having a huge problem or breaking down is not good for the progress of democracy and even our economy, we need stability. What we prefer is a situation where they can come together and bring out their program but they have not been able to bring out their program and that is our main worry. If APC can bring out their program, then we may offer our own alternative adoption that is the only way we can have a stable polity. The crises that we are seeing now with APC will not go well with anyone. The success of this administration is not Buhari's success, is not APC's success, it will be for the progress of the entire nation and that is the problem with what APC did when they were in the opposition, why we were shouting; it was not for Jonathan, stop distracting him, it was not for PDP, it is about the progress of the country. For us now that we are in opposition, we will not make the same mistake that they did when they were in the opposition, we will cooperate with them. Why is PDP supporting Senator Bukola Saraki, the man who led the rebel group against his party in the first place? Well, having be a member of the PDP, at least, he was bred and nurtured in the believe of our founding fathers, the ideas of our founding fathers, of a stable democracy build on peace and unity. Now he offered himself for senate presidency, as against someone who was bred and nurtured with violent ideology of the position. For us we rather deal with someone who we have something to do with. Yes we have our differences but we believe that his ideology and principle are nearer ours even though we have one or two point of difference. So the PDP chose to vote for such a person as against someone who never had any education on ideas of PDP’s ideology and that is what happened The truth is that, at first we chose not to get involved in the senate contest but when it was offered to us on a platter of gold by the naivety and the disorganization in the opposition of course we have to take it. Initially when the problem started, President Buhari said he was supporting anyone who comes out to be the leaders of the National Assembly, but yesterday, he issued another statement that they should follow the party rules and regulations. Isn’t this contradictory? You see, it is not contradicting. From day one, he knew what he was doing. For us, we believed him in his first statement and commended him but by yesterday, we found out that he was not only his body language those people were following, they were following direct instruction from the presidency; so we cried out and that is why we accused the President. He is leading an arm of government, executive and these people are leading another arm of government and there should not be any direct interference. Remember we as a party four years ago chose someone to lead the House of Reps, the speaker, when they got there, the House of Reps members voted for another that they wanted, we were unhappy about it, but we never did anything to cause instability in the house on the account of that. We never challenged the account of Tambuwal, we never told the people to disrupt proceedings on the account of that. And quickly we realized being matured, civil and being people who were nurtured in democratic principle, we embraced each other, we worked together. But now they are doing as if they are in a military regime, that these people must step down or you cannot be speaker, you cannot be senate president. What I find so worrisome is that four years ago, the like of Lai Mohammed even Akande issued statements that whatever happened in parliament should be left for parliamentarians to handle and today you are insisting that either your party or government should dictate to them. The PDP is supporting Bukola Saraki’s list of national assembly leadership and one of the names on the list is Senator Ali Ndume who is presently standing trial for his alleged link with the terrorist group, Boko Haram. Isn’t this unexpected? Don’t forget there are laws. In any decent democracy, everyone is presumed innocent until the contrary is proved. I am in court right now, Governor El-Rufai since last year sued me for N500m for defamatory and are you trying to tell me that if it was a criminal matter, in that matter I am already guilty, no no, listen, everyone is presume innocent until the contrary is proved. If we start behaving like that, then all you need to do is to accuse people and will never have any position, so accusation on its own can not stop you from winning political office. Are you comparing a financial accusation with a terrorism accusation judging from the numbers of innocent Nigerians that have been killed by the sect? I do not speak for Ndume and I will not speak for Ndume and he is not in my party. All I am saying is that in a democracy, it is believed that everyone is innocent until the contrary is proved. Now the fact that he has been accused, why should he run for that office as a majority leader is for him to defend, not me. I don’t speak for him and he is not in my party, I will not bother myself about it. After months of coming into office, the President has not been able to announce his cabinet, isn’t this a sign that Nigerians may not be able to rely on administration? No, I don’t think there is too much worry for the fact that he has not been able to announce his cabinet. The worry there is that, the fact that he has not had other appointment like the Chief of Staff, Secretary to Government, there are other parts that can help him function well, and he can’t handle everything at the same time. So he needs some level of assistance from his personal staff and that is the worry. For the list of ministers, he can take all his time and you must conceive the fact that the President is in a difficult position on the ministerial list. Here is a man that promised that “I am anti-corruption and I am going to fight” but all around him, surrounding him are people who are perceived to be corrupt, who are identified to be corrupt so who are the people that he is going to appoint ministers? IT is difficult for him to bring out the list of the people, let him bring them out and we will see if he is really committed to fighting corruption because he cannot be pointing to PDP and be claiming that we are corrupt, and you bring out the list of people who are tinted, who have been involved in some things, let him bring the list and let us see. Let us see the people from Lagos state, or people from other states, we are waiting for him to bring out the list, so he is in a difficult and tight corner to bring out the list, we have to understand that, we sympathize with him. Most importantly, the present premise they came into power, they can’t sustain. They lied to Nigerians, we said it then but people did not believe us. They lied, they made bogus promises, they promised they were going to give N5000 to 25 million Nigerians, a lot of people voted them on account of that, they promised they will hit the ground running within two weeks, they promised that within two months, problem of Boko Haram will be over, there are a lot of concrete promises they made to Nigerians, that is our worry and not the problem of ministers, when they bring that out, we will handle them on that. This government came to power on transition of lies and they cannot sustain the promises they made to Nigerians and that is the problem they have. You cannot build something on nothing, they were built on lies and they cannot stand. We need Nigerians to pray because in the next four years, we need at least to have a stable mission, we need to pray for their party, we need to pray for the government so that Nigerians can make progress. President Buhari vowed to retrieve whatever amounts that have been stolen during Jonathan’s administration. What’s your take on this bold move? If you want to shoot, shoot and don’t talk. Let him stop making noise, he is the President; he has all the powers, let him start, let him stop disturbing us with threats, they should start action immediately, why are they disturbing the polity? What kind of statement is that? Such kinds of statement are becoming nuisance, you are the President, if you want to take action, start now, why talk and talk? If they believe that people were corrupt, let them come out with the fact for Nigerians to see. He had made a statement that he met an empty treasury; he has made up several statements so we are tired of his excuses, there are too many excuses. A similar situation is going on in Rivers State, Wike is probing Amaechi In Rivers State, they did say they were going to investigate the former governor, Rotimi Amaechi, they have started investigating him, they set up judicial panel of enquiry, but with Buhari is about “we are going to do this, I will not tolerate corruption”, are you a head of state? This is a democracy, start the action and implement it let us see. So in general, what are you expecting from Buhari’s administration? Well what I am expecting is different from what I am wishing. I am wishing that there will be stability, that they will be respect, the rights and privileges of Nigerians, I am wishing there will be guaranteed freedom of expression and opinion, I am wishing that they observed democratic procedure in the administration, I am wishing they have economic team that will sustain the economy policy the last administration put in place. But I will not wish them bad because it will affect my future. http://www.naijacenter.com/news/interview/buhari-should-stop-making-noise-let-him-take-action-on-corrupt-nigerians-pdp-dares/ |
