2BABA, YOU DON’T NEED A NEW WIFE, YOU NEED A NEW LIFE

A few weeks ago, 2Baba (2Face Idibia) announced his separation from his wife and informed the world that they were getting a divorce.

Days later, he visited the Edo State House of Assembly and, surprisingly, proposed to a female member of the House.

In response, his mother took to social media with a short but powerful video, distancing herself from the supposed new woman in her son’s life. She boldly stated that 2Baba is not in the right state of mind to enter another relationship and warned the lady involved to stay away from him.

Since then, 2Baba has gone silent. His wife has also not made any statements or social media posts (to the best of my knowledge).

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I rarely comment on celebrity matters. But today, I feel compelled to address this—not just for 2Baba, but for everyone facing a similar situation in their marriage. In my 25+ practice as Marriage clinician I have seen this playing out over and over, with people making this same kind of mistake that ruin their lives, so let rally round our people to help them restore their lives

Divorce is More Complicated Than You Think
Divorce is not as simple as people assume. It is deeper than the river you see and often leaves people more confused and broken than they ever imagined**.

It becomes even more dangerous when someone rushes into a new relationship without healing from the wounds of the previous one

There is a concept called Acute Relationship Experience (A.R.E), it can be a traumatic situation almost at the level of losing a spouse to death, which can be even more damaging than Acute Childhood Experience (A.C.E). People who enter new relationships without first healing from A.R.E often end up misbehaving in their new unions. That’s why some individuals go through multiple divorces, moving from one partner to another, searching for something they lost within themselves.

2Baba, You Don’t Need a Divorce—You Need Marriage Therapy
As a marriage clinician with over 25 years of experience, if 2Baba were in my office or Zoom session, this is what I would tell him:

You once sang about this woman. She was once your “African Queen” so what happened? Instead of running, find out what went wrong and fix it.

A ship captain does not jump into the sea when there is turbulence, he works to safeguard the ship 2Baba, instead of abandoning your marriage, fight for it.

Look at What’s Wrong—Not Who’s Wrong
I read somewhere that your wife is sick. If this is true, then the timing of your divorce is not just wrong—it is cruel. Now is the time to stand by her, not walk away.

However, if you insist on divorce, listen to your mother, you are not ready for another marriage.

You are not emotionally stable. What you need now is healing, not a new wife. That man I saw in the Edo State House of Assembly was not the real you, even your loving mother confirmed it.

Heal First—Don’t Jump into Another Relationship
Before making any life-altering decision:
✅ Deal with your A.R.E.
✅ Get yourself back.
✅ Regain your emotional balance.

Don’t act like a lonely teenager searching for love in the wrong places, it will only lead to more pain and emptiness.

Seek wise counsel, even if you don’t want to hear the truth. Get professional help if necessary. Your gift is too precious to waste.

Take Your Marriage Off Social Media
One last thing, stop feeding social media with your personal life

Your fans didn’t help you marry your wife, and they won’t help you fix your marriage. Many of them have worse issues in their marriages but are wise enough to keep them private. Be smarter, make your marriage a private matter, not a public spectacle.
