You are right . I have actually checked this a while back . There is no place that says you will lose your seat for decamping or cross carpeting . It is there that you are permitted to cross carpet in a number of situations including internal rife in the party.

Personally I think we should amend our electoral laws to give electoral victory to the party and not the candidate. This will help build parties with ideologies . And in the same stroke , introduce independent candidates so that very popular and strong individuals can run irrespective of parties .
