God inspired the prophet Amos to record: "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.
The 21st century began with a global resurgence of religion that surprised secular leaders and scholars. Fundamentalist religious movements are spreading in Africa, China, Russia and South America. The Pope speaks of "re-evangelizing" Europe. In North America, "back to-the-Bible" churches are thriving while liberal "mainstream" churches are losing many members. Proponents of Intelligent Design are challenging evolutionists in classrooms and in the courts. All this excites many Bible-believers today, yet the Bible states that there will be a "famine of the hearing of the word" as we approach the end of this age. How can this happen along with a resurgence of religion? The answer is found in what the Bible reveals about religion at the end of the age—in prophecies that are coming alive today!

End-Time Spiritual Famine
God inspired the prophet Amos to record: "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, but shall not find it" (Amos 8:11–12). This prophecy refers to a time when "the end has come upon My people Israel" (Amos 8:2), and it has dual applications to both the ancient nation of Israel and to modern nations descended from ancient Israel. A "famine" of hearing the truth occurs when the nations of Israel are taken over by a foreign power that prohibits the proclamation and practice of the true biblical faith. This happened around 720BC when Assyrians carried the northern 10 tribes of Israel into captivity. It will happen again during the Tribulation, when the modern descendants of ancient Israel are punished for their sins (Matthew 24:9; Hosea 5:5; Jeremiah 22:5–9).

The prophet Daniel explains how this "famine" of hearing the truth will come about in the last days. In a vision, Daniel saw a "little horn" dominating the last seven revivals of the Roman Empire (the fourth beast; see Daniel 7:7–8, 19–20). This little horn will be a prominent religious figure (and his church), teaching blasphemous doctrines that contradict Scripture. This "horn" will work to change the calendar of religious observances, and will persecute those who follow Scripture (Daniel 7:21, 24–25).

History records that the bishops of Rome presided over councils that changed the weekly day of worship from the biblical Sabbath (the day observed by Jesus, His disciples and Christians in the apostolic era; see Luke 4:16; Acts 13:42–44; 16:11–13; 17:2) to Sunday. Pagan sun worshipers already observed Sunday; one rationale for the change was that it would make it easier for pagans to convert to this new form of "Christianity." In a similar manner, Easter was substituted for the biblical Passover, and winter solstice celebrations were "Christianized" to attract pagans into the fold. Roman law backed these ecclesiastical decisions to accept non-biblical doctrines and practices in the name of "Christianity." In recent years, the papacy has re-emphasized Sunday as a day of worship, and has urged the adoption of European laws enshrining Sunday as a holiday. Such laws could be used in the future to actively discourage observance of the biblical Sabbath and to promote conformity to Sunday observance.

Daniel saw a vision of another "little horn\ that would cause the daily sacrifices in the temple in Jerusalem to cease and would \cast truth down to the ground" (Daniel 8:8–14). This dual prophecy was initially fulfilled by Antiochus Epiphanes when he sacked Jerusalem in 168BC, set up a statue of Zeus in the Temple and offered swine blood on the altar—a great offense to the Jewish people. Antiochus pressured Jewish priests to compromise their religious practices and to accept the process of Hellenization. The Expositor's Bible Commentary states that Antiochus' actions foreshadow "a determined effort made by a ruthless dictator to completely suppress the biblical faith" at the end of the age, who will attempt to foster religious uniformity (see comments on Daniel 8:11–12).

In yet another vision, Daniel prophesied that a powerful end-time leader, with links to a revived Roman system, will make a seven-year covenant that will at first permit the Jewish people to resume sacrifices, "but in the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering" (Daniel 9:26–27). This covenant will begin as a token of religious toleration, but after three-and-a-half years "all pretense of religious toleration will be dropped" as this ruler attempts to enforce conformity to a corrupt religion (Expositor's Bible Commentary). This influential end-time religious leader, and his efforts to stifle and obliterate true biblical religion, are clearly linked to the actions of false teachers at the end of the age (Daniel 12:11; Matthew 24:3, 11, 15; Revelation 17:1–5).

Vital Prophecies
The New Testament provides additional insightsabout end-time events that will contribute to "a famine… of the hearing of the word of the LORD." Jesus said that in the years just preceding His return, "many will come in My name… and will deceive many" (Matthew 24:5). False teachers will preach about another Jesus and a different gospel, contradicting the Scriptures (2 Corinthians 11:1–4). Do not be fooled by this false Jesus and different gospel! Remember: Jesus, His apostles and the Church He founded kept a Saturday Sabbath and observed the biblical Holy Days. Historical sources and the biblical record show that Jesus was not born on December 25. The Bible states that no one but Jesus has gone to heaven (Acts 2:29, 34; John 3:13). Human beings were not created to go to heaven, sit on clouds and play harps, but to reign on this earth with Jesus Christ in the coming Kingdom of God (Matthew 19:28; Revelation 1:6; 5:10; Daniel 2:44–45; 7:27). This factual biblical information will be suppressed at the end of the age, because it conflicts with traditional beliefs promoted by the religious system that will dominate the world.

The Bible indicates that as we approach the end of this age, militant religious activity will increase (Revelation 6:1–2). In the last days, people will have "a form of godliness," but it will not be based solidly on the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:1–5; 4:1–4). An influential religious figure will use supernatural powers to deceive people to believe lies, and will suppress the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:1–12). False teachers will "bring in destructive heresies" and will ridicule biblical doctrines and speak evil of the truth, while they twist Scriptures to support their erroneous ideas (2 Peter 2:1–3; 3:1–18). This climate of public opinion, critical and dismissive of true biblical Christianity, is developing today, and will culminate in an attempt to stamp out true biblical teaching—an attempt led by a powerful religious figure linked with a revived Roman system in Europe. It is vital that we understand where world events are leading today, and that we "seek the LORD while he may be found" (Isaiah 55:6) because a period of darkness is coming (John 9:4)—and with it will come "a famine… of the hearing of the word of the LORD."

When was facebook founded and when was Yookos founded? Did anyone envisage that facebook wld one day be bigger than Myspace? At the rate at which Yookos is moving, it's only a matter of time before it overtakes twitter then facebook.

You need to understand what the Bible meant by "Father" in that particular verse. Ok, are u saying that the father who gave birth to you shldnt be called a father? Father has different meanings based on the context in which it is being used.

What really happed very briefly

Well in my time in Christ embassy I never had the luxury of meeting the almighty Pastor Chris Oyakhilome:  I am happy you had this chance:
maybe this little war I am waging would have never took place and the woman I was going to marry would have not tried to kill me with the car and maybe the pastor would not have tried to get me arrested for filming in the church and some so called brother would have not threatened me with excommunication for question church teaching which i did with an open honest and Ernest heart, not  blended with anger? but see I found if you question the church teaching people treat you like you’re committing blasphemy and I had the doors slammed in my face and told I am not “born again” because I did not agree with them this was to undermine me in front of the woman and treated with aggression you would only find in military boot camp see I lost everything through the church I almost lost my mind seeing them destroy the woman I love to twisted doctrines of demons and a so called brother in the lord who is false brother was telling her I had demons and I was treated with such hatred I wanted to die in fact I tried to do the job meaning kill myself I went in to such a slump of deep depression?

See I never found the church to be a open and loving place,  it was colder than Alaskan ice berg not evens the penguins would have felt welcome there? So You asked me once why I am doing this publicly well this is why because I tried to talk to the pastors here in the UK most of the time they were too busy to talk to you I am not tell you which churches it was in fact it was two of them but I know I am just another statistic for the church that will be swept under the carpet but this is one under dog that is not going down without a fight see I will be using these tactics it will be “Spiritual Guerrilla warfare"  on the church using its weakness against its own strengths this is why I am doing this and believe me there is no amount of money anyone could give to dissuade me from the mission?

I don’t hold you responsible but there is a lot of people in the church covering up for other deeds of evil it’s like everyone is saying there catechisms after doing their daily evil to the brethren they say a few hail Marys and all is forgotten in the churches in any case if pastor says it is ok
and some say it’s not them it’s just the devil instead of telling them of for their wrong ways of thinking and actions

See being a solider gives me a great incite to death and pain but what they did to me defies the conventions of war and good manners if only people in church practised what they preach we would have perfect world so I left the church, I was as welcome as a “Flatulence in a Space Suit” so when the church slogans keep saying making the world a better person a better place with one person at a time  “love world” is a joke to me  it just does not match up to what is

Notice this they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. This is not hate speech and when I mean battle I do not mean with guns it was to do with the link? Qur'an Contradiction:

Gabriel, the Holy Spirit, Confirmation and Pure Arabic



Say: Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel -
for he brings down the (revelation) to thy heart by Allah's will,

This gives three contradictions:

First, 2:97 says that it is the (angel) Gabriel who brings down the revelation from Allah to Muhammad, while 16:102 says it is the Holy Spirit. BECAUSE of these two verses Muslims usually identify the Holy Spirit with Gabriel and say that this is just another name for Gabriel. However, in another context they completely forget that they have made this identification already since they ALSO want Muhammad to be the Holy Spirit and Comforter promised by Jesus in John 14-16 in order to desperately find a prophecy of Muhammad as claimed in Sura 61:6. But obviously the Holy Spirit cannot be both, he cannot be Gabriel and Muhammad at the same time. That is, unless Muslims believe Gabriel is Muhammad!


[There has been a Muslim response to this observation by Moiz Amjad. Sam Shamoun has two detailed and carefully argued articles on the issue: Is "the Holy Spirit" only another name for the Angel Gabriel?, The Quranic Confusion Concerning Identity of the Spirit and Gabriel]
Second, in Sura 2:97 the Qur'an claims to be a confirmation of the earlier revelation (as it does in many other verses), while in Sura 16:101 the Qur'an is viewed as "substituting" the earlier revelations. And the people call him a forgerer exactly because it does not fit together with the established revelation of God.

What is Muhammad's answer? "They just don't understand" (verse 101).

Third, despite the fact that 16:103 says "this is Arabic, pure and clear" — a statement that is supposedly refuting those who say Muhammad learned his message from a human teacher who was not fluent in Arabic —, the Qur'an contains words and phrases that belong to other languages. Just two of many examples:

"Pharaoh" comes from the Egyptian language and means king or potentate. The word for "king" in Arabic is different.

"Injil", which means "gospel" = "good news", comes from the Greek language. The correct word in Arabic is "bisharah".

this is to answer:
--Three contradictions in 16:101-103 ,

--according to muslim belief, based on quran,
"gabriel" is the name for "holy spirit" the dearest
angle of god. and it is NOT the prophet. it is also
mentioned in quran as (angle) "rouh" , meaning spirit.

about john 14:16, the verse never mentiones the comforter
is holy spirit. if it is a christian interpretation of
the verse (John 14:16) i adont know about that, but
what muslims say is that, this comforter is mohamed(pbuh).

so if christians believe that "comforter" is holy spirit,
and muslims belive that "comforter" is mohamed(pbuh), this
does NOT result in that holy spirit is mohamed(pbuh)!
you are reffering to oposite sides to get a result.

regarding 2:97 and 16:101, and "confirmation" of the
earlier revelations and at the same time "substituting" them,
quran does confirm earlier revelations (not the changed
vertion of them of course!), and please note that
the word translated as "substituting" means rather
"transforming" and not substituting . and what is meant
is like "updating". point is, islam is the religion of
adam (pbuh) to mohamed (pbuh), but in different levels.
it was "updated" untill it reached the final form which
was brought by mohamed (pbuh). so while maintainig the
same spirit, it was "transformed" to what it is now.
i hope this explanation makes the situation clear!

about quran being in "pure" arabic. yet another
misunderestanding of quran caused by looking a "translated"
copy rather than arabic! the word "mobeen" means clear with
explanation, understandable, NOT pure (in the way you
percieve). and of course it is not in pure arabic.
there is no "pure" language at all! in every language you
can find the trace of other languages, older or contemporary
ones.

I have read that Muslims believe all of the revealed books are exact copies from (part) of the book kept by God in heaven, [not sure if that is Qur'anic, but it is tradition]. If it is being "updated" one might wonder if the tablets in heaven became updated too,  And how can God and his word be perfect if his word needs "updating"?

I am often amazed how utterly unable Yusuf Ali seems to be in his translation,  Yes, I do know I read a translation, but please, do give me a translation you think is a good one and I will then argue based on that translation. If you say it is not translatable, then why would I believe that you can give a better translation for the word above than Ali gives? Anyway. Let us look at the context and not just at one word. Isn't the point that verse 103 makes exactly that it cannot originate from this person charged to be behind the forgery, because this person is a foreigner, not speaking pure Arabic, while the Qur'an is pure Arabic? If this means not "pure" then the whole point that this verse is trying to make falls to the ground. There is no reason why a foreigner cannot explain and speak "clearly" and "understandably". The contrast is "that this foreigner doesn't speak pure Arabic" with the "purity of the language of the Qur'an". And this is exactly what Yusuf Ali says in his footnote 2143: ",  They must need to postulate some human teacher. Unfortunately for their postulate, any possible human teacher they could think of would be poor in Arabic speech if he had all the knowledge that the Qur'an reveals of previous revelations. Apart from that, even the most eloquent Arab could not, and cannot, produce anything of the eloquence, width and depth of the Qur'anic teaching, as is evident from every verse of the Book." (That is quite an exaggeration in itself, I cannot resist to add.)

But let us assume this word does mean "clear and understandable". Then you are only trading in one contradiction for another.


He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical.
