Paying tithes is compulsory, and we are definitely commanded to add other virtues expected of Christians. If not; the people of Israelite would not have been commanded strongly to pay tithes and other classified offerings (Deuteronomy 2 verse 10 - 19). If not, Apostle Peter wouldn't have advanced it to means totality (Commonwealth), and the penalty for disobedience/disloyalty THEN was death (Acts 4 verse 32 – 35; 5 verse 1 - 10). If not, our Lord Jesus Christ wouldn't have stated this as one of the misdoings of the Pharisees (Matthew 23 verse 23; Hebrew 7:4 – 5). Also, though it's clearly stated as tithes yet we read about those women that ministered to the daily needs of our Lord Jesus with their substance (Luke 8: 1 - 3). If not, Apostle Paul wouldn't have stated this clearly for us to understand (Philippians 4:15 – 20 . Prior to the advent of the new testament, tithes were considered as 10% of whatever profits made at a specific instant but, with the coming of Jesus Christ, tithes evolved to the totality of our profits (Luke 14:33).What we should advise our spiritual leaders is to let them understand clearly the essence of their calls. For instance, Apostle Peter and Paul collected tithes/ offerings/gifts for the growth of the church and the needs of their followers. Our spiritual father should understand that curses were laid on those shepherds that squeezed their followers (Ezekiel 34:2 - 10). Meanwhile, let's the debate goes on for the benefits of our Christian leaders. Definitely, this will direct their hearts to the right things of taking care of the poor. |

wirinet:Please separate this matter from politics. Sometime ago, we read that Rtr. Air Marshal Petirin, former Chief of Air Staff and Chief of Defense Staff was in Ekiti State University, Ado - Ekiti with other official dignitaries and some students stoned him. Sir, your take would have been that students in that school at that particular time should have been shot? Nevertheless, I am a supporter of the Military especially in its efforts to end Boko Haram and an ardent follower of the Commander-In-Chief, but the truth must be told. |
Many commentators here do not know the practice in most of the major cities in the north. It is common to see major roads (even interstates) blocked during important occasions especially during Friday prayer. Many occasions in Maiduguri and Kano, our vehicles and others such as military vehicles will have to wait till the end of prayer sessions especially on Fridays or important days. May be due to the recent attack on their members, those in the video may be guards to the sect members who were already on the prayer ground. Whatever, either rightly or wrongly, Nigerians need to know who gave the order. Order for this kind of brutality/revenge can only be given by the C-in-C. We need to know who is in charge of the military in this our democratic government. Please agree with me that the life of every citizen is sacrosanct. |
wallbuilder:But we are not voting for Tinubu. Tinubu is with Buhari the way Emeka Offor, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, Femi Otedola and the rest are with our dear Jonathan. Unbelievable that someone will be thinking that a Prof, a SAN with a very sound background can be so clueless and sign undertaking to handover to someone else after wining and some of us are believing the story? Many of us may have lost their reasoning power just because of tribal and religious dispositions. What will be my loss if an Iboman or 84 yrs old man or woman rules & value of one naira becomes one dollar? In fact, how many good Nigerians of impeccable pedigree are coming out loud to defend the ruling party? Where are likes of Utomis, Soludos, Agbakobas, Falanas, coming out to defend the ruling party? The best among them are very clever by keeping quite. Which arithmetic made Iweala the FM and Emefiele the Governor of Central Bank? Definitely, we need a change IN OUR THINKING, ATTITUDE AND VALUES. |
oshyno:As it was then in 1983 so it is now. The ruling party(NPN) mismanaged the economy in such a way that austerity measure was announced. The campaign was seriously personalized and atmosphere then was charged the way it is now. The elites that were raking in millions through the ineffectiveness of the then President (such as late MKO etc ) were against change that was well crafted by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe. The propaganda was that Awolowo hated a section of Nigeria while Azikwe attitude during the civil was negatively projected. In fact, late Okadigbo, political adviser to President Shehu Shagari vehemently antagonized late Nnamdi Azikwe to the extent that he was publicly cursed by the late elder statesman. There was trouble in many places and NPN, the ruling party, was arresting outspoken opposition members especially in the west after winning the election. In fact, many people were killed during the election and the heat was really hot and citizens especially the opposition started praying for a change that brought in GMB. Anyhow you look at it, military regime has never been the best option but it always come when people agitate for it during trouble time. Again, it is an absurd for a set of people to compare military regime to civilian rule. They are parallel in terms of styles, structures and deliverables. What is needed is beyond rhetoric. |
Happy birthday sir. My entire household is grateful to God for your divine call. |
PenSniper:You are not God & and you can never be. If you witness the prevailing situation that brought GMB then, you will agree with me that his coming was for a divine purpose. Before he took over, the then civilian president, Alj. Shehu Shagari was boosting to the world that his government will crush the opposition especially in the western states and that the west occupy a small geographic area in Nigeria. Immedaite after he won, the ruling party, NPN, started arresting the opposition, UPN supporters and many were put in prisons. There was a man in Ibadan, late eruobodo, who publicly declared war against the then executive governor of his state. The coming of GMB as a military ruler was a great relief to the opposition because they actually prayed for it. Unfortunate, the same set of people especially from the west are clamoring for the rejection of GMB forgotten Ajasin/Omoboriowo, Bola Ige/Olunloyo, as well as various scenario from other places in Nigeria during the second term of Alj. Shehu Shagari government. So many killings, so many bloodshed before the coming of this great man. Those holding the age of GMB against him are not fair. Most of those that mortgaged the future of Nigerian youths are youths themselves. From the time immemorial, the affairs of this country had been in the hands of youths. From General Gowon to Gen Abacha, a quick check shows that will need a MAN this time around. Man that had been part of the system, and that can correct the mistakes from the past. President Jonathan is my man at any time but can never function right with the existing structure in PDP. In four years time, we will still exercise our voting power to make a change if APC derails. |
Lol This is not their first time. This kind of game (insincerity and selfishness) had been on since the time of AG that invariably led to civil war. The same game was played by some of this actors and schemed out late Chief Bola Ige (AD) from contesting against Chief O. Obasanjo in 1999. Some of the characters involved have no credibility at all. They are real game spoilers! One thing is sure; we will not forgive any of them and their children if their selfishness and insincerity contribute to our continuity in captivity. This struggle is not about Chief Bola Tinubu or Yoruba leadership. This struggle is not about the past or who erred. Truly, this struggle is all about our conscience. It is a call to reasoning, justice and fairness. Look at these; where are those under-aged boys and guys caught with millions of dollars at our airports including Governor Lamido's sons? What is the outcome of those arrested for Iyanya bomb blasts in Abuja that occurred close to the period NNPC $20b was been probed by the National Assembly? Any latest on Senator Ndume arrested for sponsoring Boko Haram? What happened to the threat by the immediate former Chief of Army Staff to sue the Australian that leaked is involvement in Boko activities? How possible that being a CEO of a bank is automatic ticket to a billionaires' club - remember Elumelus and Adegbolas? How come that a Minister was advised to resign for corrupt practice and the same Minister was replaced with someone close to her - to cover up? Where are the authentic official audit reports of finances of Customs, FIIRS, NNPC, and others? The situation on ground is not about GEJ or GMB. It is about the PDP and Nigerians. It is about democratic structure and process that will encourage and guarantee the use of electoral power to make an anticipated change. I sincerely appeal that we should exercise our electoral power now and earnestly start the change process, by 2019, with the mercy of God, we would have enhanced our choice ability and entrenched our prestige in the eyes of politicians by making them to work their talk. |
richy6060:rest in perfect peace a true hero who proclaimed his love & laid down his life for the federal republic of Nigeria. unfortunately, some of us here are still clamoring for a divided Nigeria while the patriots among us are laying down their life for Nigeria to rise up as one nation. you will never be forgotten "Gallant Soldier". |
Bar. Keyamo, I can read your handwriting very clearly. What is evidently obvious to me is that; the reasons for starting 'this war' will be less cogent than what will be needed for peace to return. Once upon a time; Gadhafi, Saddam, and many others like them all thought that there would be no end to their imprudence. Only time will tell in what way will be the consequence of this our self-induced psychosis. |
rudedough: You guys can lie to yourselves all you want that a 3rd class graduates can do this and that and be "successful".I am compelled to reply you on your ignorable assumption with the likelihood that the OP may be facing serious psychosomatic tempest and may be seeking a way out. In the meantime, I can deduce from your comments that you are one of those egoistic fellows. In fact, your comments so far are nauseating. Fyi, so many factors can contribute to the performance of individuals. As an under graduate, I can tell of so many debauched things that my colleagues did to have better grades. Conversely, I can tell rudedough that, it is too early for him to think that he has the best route to self-satisfaction. |
Lagos - Ilesa - Maiduguri - Baga & Kukawa - Maiduguru - Lagos. About 14 hours with Avalon, 2003 model in 2010. Very stressful but interesting. |
Obiagu1: I'm not interested in engaging you in your drivel but I'll say if anything I said relate to your reply to me and makes sense to you, then you need to go back to school. Ability to read and write does not necessarily alleviate one from dumbness. You are the one that's unintelligent. Imagine your brothers and sisters being deported in the afternoon for everybody to see their shame. Commonsensically, it is more appropriate to bring them in at that time of the day (4:00am), alternatively, the Anambra state government should have provided vehicle to bring them from Lagos and drive straight to the state house for a well-deserved reception. With all this your abracadabra, how many of your kin and kith in needs have your rehabilitated? Hypocrite! |
........I write this, not cos I hate Yorubas or I love Igbos, I have Lagos State to thank for my Success, I came here with just a University Degree, now I got billions in investment courtesy of good business environment provided by the Yorubas and business acumen taught me by the Igbos, but with common sense injected into me by the spirit of Niger Delta struggle. I am surprised that a graduate from a Nigerian university can drop, in an open forum, this kind of garbage and spurted out so much balderdash. Many of us had been to many of the towns and cities in the South-East and South -South in the course of official duties. We can tell the story of your land more than you that claimed to be the son-of-the-soil. But, at this stage, it will be ironical for me to descend to your gibberish state of mind just to proof a point. Apart from Calabar, Uyo, Port Harcourt and Warri, please name any town or city in the SE where non-indigenes are comfortable and could conveniently flourish as you did in Lagos? I have so much to tell of your land and your people but it will be quite unfortunate for me not to respect the good people I have met along the way. Billyonaire, or whatever you call yourself, I can tell you unequivocally, that you are a disgrace to this generation. You are supposed to build not to destroy, especially now that you have been blessed. |
It’s very difficult for any person of conscience to follow the kind of discussions that are being spurted out. Is there any state or tribe in Nigeria that is cohesive / homogeneous? I have been to some places in Nigeria and I can conveniently write here that hardly could you see any that is not internally divisive along a particular element. Many of the war - drummers on this forum are not even worthy representatives of their so called ancestral tribes. My advice is that everyone here should try to be mindful of his or her freedom of expression and its implication on generality of the collective destiny. We are one people with one destiny. If your generation refuses to accept this, the coming generation will, dutifully work it out. By then, your evil bodies will be rotten and your souls wailing in hell. It is not anybody's fault to be poor. Our leaders are insensitive and corrosive in a matter of emotion. From Lagos to Anambra; so far, the actions and reactions negate the fundamental ethics of respect for human dignity. |

We are waiting for an enduring tribute from the Federal Government of Nigeria for "The Jewel of Nation". |
I know it will come to this. A great man is gone and some of us that are acutely myopic to the extent of becoming imbeciles are trying to drift our minds away into abyss. The truth is that most of the contributors that are sprouting extreme bitterness and hatred are either Christians or Muslims. Too bad! |
I thank the Almighty God for giving us 'The Prophet'. I pray that his prophecy through the Holy Spirit concerning my destiny will be fulfilled asap. |
I think you are the only person here that has a functioning brain because you can tell why you look like your mother but not your father. I also think you have the ability to decide who he is the actual without DNA. Then you will have to convince me, though I do not need it because I won’t read this thread again, while your DNA is specific. Also, Prof. Knowledge, the ability to decide the exact time in second that you want to sleep and wake up is in your knowhow. I still do not know the motive for making public your belief or non-belief an issue of discourse without dissection and dissension. |
My friend, if you don’t mind, please let’s shares our thoughts together. As long as we cannot dispute our existence, fundamentally, we will have to function under some specific divine ordinances. For instance, let's just try to emphasis little of His Absoluteness. Job 37 vs. 3 says; "....great things doeth, which we cannot comprehend". Verse 13 says; "He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for His land, or mercy". Most of us practice Christianity as a matter of divinity but not as matter of obedience and servitude. That is the confusion. In Luke 17: 7 Jesus Christ says; "But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?" Verse 9 says; "Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I throw not". Verse 10; "So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do". Bros, since you believed in Salvation, then, Salvation of your soul and mine is equally personal; it is never connected to either you are an American or African. Luke 17: 15 says; "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you". Many of the leaders that served as American Presidents had been Christians. They were elected to function. The Success of Americans was not made cheaply. They toiled for good leadership. It is in their character. Sir, the Character of the Black nation is the bane to the collective progress. The Bible says in Job 37 vs. 23; "Touching the Almighty, we cannot find Him out: he is excellent in power ...plenty of justice: he will not afflict". Lastly, highpoint to some that may believe in their wisdom. The Holy Bible in Job 37 vs. 24 says; "Men do therefore FEAR HIM: he respecteth not ANY that are WISE OF HEART". Also, Verse 19 says; "Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness". Regards, |

I had been to Borno state and I know for sure that the state is a paradise. The land is good for all kinds of cash crops, animal rearing, fishing, and numerous positive potentials including sport. The people are really good and hard working. Also, the weather is amazingly diverse with same kinds of animal species sprouting out differently to tally with the prevailing weather. Believe me, Borno state is really beautiful. The only state comparable to Borno is Enugu state. Unfortunately, they are the most neglected states in Nigeria. |

but we have too much of extroverts on earth already, we need more introverts. We need people who value their private time, people who can think and put their thoughts into practice.
