A Chance For Love- Episode 1&2 (e-Book/Story)

Episode one
Sick
.
“Do you not care at all about your life,
Victoria?”
***
Somewhere close, a bell jingled. The
richness of this sound filled my ears and
wrapped me in a tingling cloak. To
everyone else, the bell only served to
usher in eight hours of sitting down,
watching men and woman flaunt their
expertise. But to me, the ringing bell
meant much more. It officially announced
eight hours of undisturbed freedom.
For the next few hours, I would enjoy
relative bliss, breathing in unadulterated
air. But, in a while, my time would be up.
I would hear the closing bell. The same
sound that brought me comfort would
snatch it from my grasp without any
qualms, and against my will I would stuff
my books into my backpack and drag
myself back home, into the rusty old
arms of slavery.
Slipping through the school gate, I started
toward the two-story building standing
tall and prestigious in my line of sight.
The building’s red bricks gave off a
western setting I admired. Since its
founding, Western High had won several
awards for its unique ambience and
physical environment, organization, staff
quality, and exceptional student
performance. To top it all, they delivered
this package at a price affordable for the
exclusively rich who could spend millions
on one child’s educational concern and
yet, their pockets would not groan.
A disquieting silence embraced me as I
made for the stairs. I squinted at the
pitch-black leather wristwatch Amarachi
had bought me last session. 9:37am and
ticking without mercy. I shook my head at
the person I’d been forced to become.
Who would believe I woke up by 4:30am
every day?
I would do anything to stop being late for
school. But each day, I ran in long after
the corridors had emptied its occupants
into classes. Victoria Brown, the award
winning latecomer in all of Western High.
Not cool.
People would always talk. The facts
never mattered to anyone. They only
wanted someone to be the object of their
derision. And at Western High, I fit the
bill in ways more than one.
Gripping the ornate wrought iron handrail,
I mounted the stairs leading to my class.
My lower back felt like a rock had been
placed on it. After the arduous chores I
had been forced to battle with for four
hours, and the glaring distance I walked
to school, maintaining a proper posture
posed a challenge I didn’t know how to
tackle.
The damp fabric of my white long-sleeve
clung to my torso. I couldn’t be happier
our uniform had a navy blue waist coat to
hide my hopeless perspiration. How would
I survive the day when I had already died
from the start?
A throbbing pain in my head caused me
to halt. My headache had awakened. For
the past few days it had become an
unwanted best friend, coming and going
as it saw fit. It would persist, hammering
as hard as it dared. Sometimes, I feared I
would never escape its clutches.
“Heeey, easy!” a deep and unfamiliar
voice said from behind me.
I didn’t need to turn to know my abrupt
halt had almost caused ‘him’ to crash
into me. Apologizing for the
inconvenience would be in order, but his
next words stopped me cold.
“What are you? Sleepwalker or zombie?”
Anger welled through me, swelled like a
bubble and threatened to burst. Everyone
knew me as the greatest latecomer ever,
but the terms ‘sleepwalker’ and ‘zombie’
had never been heard. Had those become
my new tags?
Amidst my wounded pride, his voice
swirled around in my head. From his
accent, I could tell he was no Nigerian.
With its syrupy r’s and e’s, it was
probably American.
A familiar throbbing in my head jolted me
out of my thoughts. Gripping the straps
of my backpack, I whirled around to
descend the stairs, but found myself
staring at an emerald-eyed boy I had
never seen before. His skin, a flawless
olive shade, held a glow to die for. Silky,
raven hair, styled in a spiked faux hawk
pulled me in, bringing to mind those
celebrities on TV. For a moment, I gaped.
He probably believed I gawked at him
because I’d never come face-to-face with
a foreigner, but then he would be a fool
to think that, because we had over a
dozen of them in our school.
A sudden wave of self-consciousness
swept me over as my gaze fell on his
finely sculpted nose as opposed to my
average Nigerian nose. How did he
breathe with nostrils barely as wide as
buttons?
My gaze traveled along the length of his
slender build. Although he stood one step
below, I noted he lingered on the tall side,
probably three inches taller than my
hopeless 5’4. My gaze lingering on his
face, I mentally shook my head at the
generous spray of stubbles framing his
high cheek bones. I looked forward to the
look on his face when our principal asked
him to get rid of his facial hair.
A familiar pinching sensation in my nose
overwhelmed me, severing my thoughts.
A sneeze forced its way out, jerking my
head forward and almost knocking it into
‘Mr. White’. I hadn’t seen that coming, at
least not until the final moment. Gross.
If I hadn’t been fast enough to pinch my
nose while I sneezed, all hell would have
broken loose. And in his face. It would
have been a really snotty moment. Double
gross.
An apology would be in order, but I didn’t
give myself a chance. Tugging at my
collar, I descended the stairs, taking two
at a time. I could feel Mr. White’s gaze
bore a hole through me. Other than being
a zombie and a sleepwalker, I had also
ended up becoming a clown for his
entertainment. How awkward could our
encounter get? Sneezing didn’t make a
crime, but doing it in someone’s face did.
Musing over the mess I had just made of
myself caused me to fall sick all over
again. I needed the sickbay. Class could
wait. I needed something to quell the
throbbing pain inside my head. And apart
from that, I needed to stay away from
Mr. White. Amarachi would laugh so hard
when she heard of my recent blunders.
Two in a row. Just perfect.
I walked as fast as my back ache
permitted. As luck had it, no teachers
were in sight so I didn’t have to answer
to anyone for loitering during school
hours. We had Literature—a subject I
could easily understand—for first period,
so missing this class would not affect my
performance. Or so I hoped.
***
A wave of calmness stole me over as the
sickbay hit my line of sight. I traipsed
into the room, an uncertain smile flitting
across my face to match the nurse’s
welcoming smile. Clad in a smart white
gown, she sat behind the counter, reading
an Awake! magazine.
“Good morning,” I said.
Advancing toward the counter compared
to walking down an aisle. A pathway
stretched between the counter and the
door. On each side of the room stood
three petite beds, dressed with blue
covers and matching pillows.
“Good morning,” the nurse said, her smile
accentuated by dimpled cheeks. “You
really don’t look well. What’s wrong?”
I resisted an urge to roll my eyes. Of
course I didn’t look well, else I wouldn’t
even be here. Something on my face
must have alerted her. She dropped the
magazine on the counter and walked
around it to meet me.
“It’s nothing much,” I said. Before I could
utter another word, the back of her palm
greeted my forehead.
“There’s no fever.” Heaving a sigh of
relief, she touched my neck to double-
check.
“It’s just a headache,” I said, sneezing
into a checkered handkerchief I had just
pulled out of my backpack. “And catarrh.”
“Aww. Poor thing. You’ll be fine in no
time. Paracetamol should do the trick.”
It amazed me how she never failed to
obey the laws of phonetics. She would
definitely fit as an English teacher. Had it
never occurred to her?
“You speak just like an English teacher,” I
said.
“What?” she asked. “Nurses don’t get to
speak good English?”
Definitely not the response I expected.
What did I expect? Thank you? Mentally, I
kicked myself. I definitely should have
stayed silent. Sue me.
“No, sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. I
was just saying you, uhm…” I trailed off,
gesticulating frantically as though it
would help complete my statement and
save the awkward moment.
She waved off my incoherent comment
with a strained laugh. “Don’t kill yourself
there. Yeah, I get that a lot.”
Easing myself onto a bed, I watched her
return to the counter. She plucked a card
of Paracetamol out of its carton and cut
out two tablets with a pair of scissors
lying idly on the counter.
“And then you’ll need this for that catarrh
of yours.” She placed another drug beside
the Paracetamol. Turning to the C-Way
dispenser behind her, she grabbed a
disposable cup. But then she turned to
face me, a quizzical look on her face. “I
take it you had breakfast, yes?”
My stomach rumbled in response to her
question. I had nothing for breakfast.
Breakfast only came after chores. And
today, like every other day, chores took
up all my time, making breakfast a no-no.
With a subtle shake of my head, I
supplied the answer to her question and
waited for an outburst.
“What?” Her voice rang out. Although I’d
seen that coming, my headache flared in
response. I slammed my eyes shut,
allowing the throbbing in my head slide
back into my zone of tolerance.
“You want to take drugs on an empty
stomach?” she asked. “Do you know how
harmful this practice is? Do you know it’s
just as harmful as this headache, and
other sicknesses we run from?”
With half-closed eyes, I watched her go
on and on. It couldn’t be that bad. Why
did she react like I’d tried to commit
suicide?
“Don’t just sit there gawking at me. I
don’t administer drugs to people who
haven’t eaten. Go find something to eat
first, and then come take your medicine.
They will be on this counter waiting for
you.” Her voice had a tone of finality. She
obviously thought this to be for my good.
What then did she think of the raging war,
a Clash of the Titans reenactment inside
my head?
She sank back into her chair and picked
up the seemingly fascinating magazine.
Seconds stretched into minutes and she
seemed oblivious of my presence. My
stomach rumbled again, reminding me of
my task to fill it.
“Can I just use the bed?” I asked, hating
the sudden dryness of my mouth. The
nurse raised her eyes to look at me. She
cocked her head, a wordless statement
that she hadn’t quite heard me.
“I mean, the cafeteria won’t attend to
students until recess,” I said. “And I really
can’t go to class in this state. My head is
pounding so hard I won’t grab anything
they’re teaching. Please, I’d just like to
use the bed for a while. Surely the
headache will subside. It comes and goes
everyday anyway.” I snuffled, gluing my
handkerchief to my nose. Curse my runny
nose.
The nurse raised her neatly trimmed
eyebrows at me. “It comes and goes
every day?”
“Yes?” I said. Why did she seem
surprised?
“How long?”
“Two weeks,” I roughly estimated. I
wanted out of this question and answer
session. I needed a pill to quell this
headache. And since I couldn’t have that,
I could use a moment of undisturbed rest.
Settling for less had become my thing
anyway.
The nurse seemed genuinely scared.
“And you don’t attend to it? Do you not
care at all about your life, Victoria?”
My lips parted to let out an answer, but I
sealed them shut. I would not tell my life
story to a stranger. I’d visited the sickbay
a number of times, and the nurse had
been a staff for as long as I could
remember, but I still considered her a
stranger. And even if I managed to tell
her my story, she would probably doubt
its genuineness. And if she did believe
every word, it wouldn’t change anything
because she had no power to do
anything. She could only sympathize with
me. And I didn’t want that.
I pushed aside her inadvertently hurtful
question and lay prone in bed. Sleep
would find me and steal me away from
the unbearable headache. Even though it
would only last a moment, it would
definitely be worth it.
Heavy eyelids glided over my eyes. The
room and everything it held disappeared
around me as I slipped out of
consciousness.
“Victoria!” an indistinct voice called. A
gentle tap on my shoulder followed
almost immediately.
The unrelenting pounding in my head and
an emptiness in my stomach greeted me
as I slid halfway into consciousness. My
eyes lazied open and I saw the nurse
standing beside me, an A4 sheet in her
hand. How long had I been asleep? An
hour? Two?
Handing the paper to me, she said, “The
cafeteria will let you eat once you show
them this permit.”
I bolted upright in bed and grabbed the
paper, too eager to read its content.
To the cafeteria:
I know it is against the school rules to
attend to students during this hour. But
our students’ health is our priority.
Please, kindly attend to Victoria Brown so
she takes the drugs I have administered.
Stella Adewale
School nurse
Decorated with white and navy-blue
stripes, just like my four in hand necktie
and flare skirt, our school logo stood
proud beneath the complementary close.
“Earth to Victoria?” Fingers snapped
between my eyes, flaunting purple polish
on artificial nails.
“Thank you,” I said, grinning.
***
My walk to the cafeteria went
undisturbed, save for the sun’s ruthless
intensity and my sneezing and snuffling. I
felt like a walking tank of boiling water.
Actually, saying I walked would paint a
wrong picture of the situation. I didn’t
walk. I tottered.
It stunned me how my health had
deteriorated in the blink of an eye. Hadn’t
I walked to school this morning in near-
perfect health, with fatigue and headache
being the only exception? Why then did I
feel so sick all of a sudden, unable to
take one step without faltering?
As though my sudden sickness couldn’t
ruin my day on its own, Sir Aaron’s voice
pierced my eardrums, bringing my
struggle of a walk to an abrupt
intermission. “Hey, you!”
My insides churned at the menace in his
high-pitched voice. The very same voice
policemen reserved for catching thieves
red-handed. Why did it have to be Sir
Aaron of all people? This man had a face
of stone and a heart of rock. To top it all,
he had a voice that could melt iron.
Holding my hands behind my back, I
turned to face my least favorite teacher.
“Good morning, Sir.”
“It’s barely even eleven and you’re
already loitering,” he said. “Is this the
example you’re setting for your juniors?”
With every word he spat out, my stomach
tightened. I craved to be away from him
so I could finally breathe fresh air. I could
feel my blood getting hotter by the
second. No, I don’t mean it as an
idiomatic expression. Literally, I could feel
the hotness of my blood, a sickening
feeling that had only arrived a moment or
two ago. I blamed the orb of fury burning
intensely above me.
Too sick to speak to the man before me,
I presented the nurse’s permit in his face,
silencing him. Hopefully, for good. His
quietude stretched over a few moments.
And in this little time, my headache
seemed to aggravate.
Plucking the note out of my grasp, Sir
Aaron drew it close to his rather wrinkled
eyes. After a moment too long, he said,
“Hmm. Sorry about your ill health.”
Learning is an everyday process. And in
my final year in Western High, I
discovered Sir Aaron, the most feared
teacher, had a fraction of a heart. Wide
eyed, I stared at him, noting how the look
on his face transformed from irritation to
sympathy. And for the most part, he
wasn’t faking it.
I let out a mental sigh. I should be in the
cafeteria already. But here I stood, stuck
with my least favorite teacher, and at the
mercy of the ferocious sun.
“What’s wrong with you?” he asked. “How
bad is it?” Had his voice softened in
reality, or had it only softened in my
head?
I opened my mouth to tell him about my
headache, but then I reconsidered. The
man standing before me had a heart of
stone. He could consider headache and
catarrh too trivial for a nurse’s permit,
and that would implicate the kind nurse.
While I still conflicted about how to
answer him, the back of his palm rested
on my sweaty forehead. Genuine fear
washed him over. “You’re burning. You’ve
got a fever.”
“Whatfever?” The words flew out of my
mouth without warning. I had a fever?
The nurse had checked my temperature
an hour or two ago and found nothing. So
where did it come from?
“Quick, go attend to your illness.” He
returned the note like he would burning
coal. I turned to leave when he spoke
again. “And Victoria—”
What? He knew my name? Impossible. He
had never called me by name, but always
barked out a ‘you there!’ or a ‘yes?’
“Be sure to get well soon,” he said.
“Yes, sir.”
He walked away, leaving me to continue
my floundering walk. I had a fever. I
touched my neck to be certain.
Underneath the back of my palm, my skin
burned with the power of a thousand
suns. That explained why I felt like a tank
of boiling water. How wrong I had been to
blame it on the sun. Poor sun.
Two realizations dawned on me. Number
one, I had malaria. I didn’t need a test to
know it. The symptoms were all there.
First, the persistent headache. Then a
runny nose. And now fever, accompanied
with a cold I’d never paid attention to
until now. These symptoms had become
a part of me. For the past four years,
they would come up every now and then,
but I’d never had a chance to treat them.
My stepmother never saw me as worthy
of medical care.
After persisting for a week or two, the
symptoms would walk out of my life, and
I would be good as new. I hoped this
time would be no different. But for how
long would this go on? This sickness had
been gnawing at me for far too long,
accumulating day after day. It likened to
a pile of books being topped with more
books with each passing day. One day,
that pile would not be able to take in any
more books, and it would collapse. If I
didn’t get treatment sometime soon, I
would break down just like that pile of
books. Each time my good health slid
from my grasp, I always looked forward
to the inescapable breakdown, but it
hadn’t struck yet. It stood around the
corner, calculating, waiting for the right
time to knock me off my feet.
My second realization concerned Sir
Aaron. We had all been wrong to paint
him as a monster. A fraction of him knew
humanity.

Episode two

Sickbed
.
‘What happens in this house stays in this
house. Do you understand?’
***
Eyes closed, I lay in bed, waiting for a
horrendous lump in my throat to dissipate.
Stella probably thought I had fallen asleep.
But then I sneezed, and in that moment I
feared the pills I’d swallowed would pop out
of my mouth.
I knew it would only be a moment before
she engaged me in a conversation. I
couldn’t blame her though. The boredom in
the air had enough intensity to sicken the
heart of an average person.
“So, you’re sick with fever, headache and
catarrh?” Stella’s voice cut through the
silence.
Did she need me to answer that? Obviously
not, for she went on, “Fever isn’t necessarily
a bad guy. It is your body’s natural reaction
to the real bad guys. It is your body’s
response to an untreated sickness or a
hidden infection. This could be anything
from a urinary tract infection to
tuberculosis.”
“Mine is just malaria,” I said.
“Care to tell me which doctor gave you that
diagnosis, Victoria know it all?”
I looked away sheepishly. “I’m sorry, I just
thought—”
“Do you know how dangerous what you’ve
just done is?” she asked.
My thoughts hovered over her choice of
words. Dangerous? When did it become life
threatening to look.....

MY LIFE IN HILTON HIGH SCHOOL- Episode 21-24 (E-book/Story)

“Love is a serious mental disease.” – Plato

EPISODE 21

I was dumbfounded, downcast, and devastated. I stared her Elena as tears was dripping to her cheek, I knew getting her to forgive might be impossible .
She shot the door and ran out, I quickly ran after her holding her by her hand, the next thing I heard was “akppppapppp!!!!!! ” she gave me a hot slap that made me staggered backward.
” Elena please listen to me ” I said not minding I just received a slap from her.
” Best we are done, don’t you ever talk to me ever again . ” she bark.. I stared at her, all I could see on her was great love and hate. Tears was dripping from my eyes.” Elena I love you please listen to me ” I said angrily drawing her with force while she gave me another portion of slap.. “mtecwwwwwww” she hissed and walked out leaving emotionally ramshackle, Is this how my relationship with Elena going to end? . I angrily walked to miss gift office, “I am going to end any rubbish I was having with her” I said to myself as I walked to her office…
I saw her, she was sited on a chair composed as if she was not the architect of my misfortune.

” MA with all do respect, I don’t want to have any thing with you, Please what ever relationship we are having its over ” I gruffly said and walked out. I could hear her shouting my name, I don’t f-----g care if she was my teacher, how could my relationship with Elena just end like that , after receiving several beating from the snoop, I made up my mind to do anything that would made Elena to reconcile with me. I walked to my class with so many thoughts running through my head, I could see several people starring at me. I stared at her Elena who was busy shedding tears, I mistakenly turned to the direction of the snoop and i saw James smiling like someone that just won gold in Olympic. I knew he would be happy of the new development.

Suddenly a junior student came to the class “is best here” the young boy asked… ” what happened” I replied . ” miss gift asked me to call you” he said and left.

What does she want? Why can’t she just leave me alone. I left the class and walked to her office..
” Are you mad, I have been calling you and you decided not to come” she gruffly said.. ” I am sorry” I murmured inaudible .
” I want you to renounce what you said about our relationship ” she said staring at me. ” Sorry MA I can’t do that, I don’t love you and you can’t force me against my decision.” I angrily said while she drew back on disbelief. ” are you talking to me like that” she asked to be sure.
” yes of course ” i replied not minding she was my teacher.
She quickly gave me a heavy slap, making tears to drop from my eyes .
I felt the urge to slap her back but I just retrained the urge because slapping her might be the end of my scholarship. I just hissed, as I was about walking away she asked me to kneel down which I reluctantly did,
Before I knew what was going on she left her office leaving me behind, about few minutes later she came with Mr Peter, maths teacher who was smiling like an imo state masquerade. Someone who had been looking for a way to punished me, and here is the golden opportunity he had been craving for, presented to him in a platter of gold..u

EPISODE 22

I know nothing could stopped me from being punished, I stared at miss gift who looked at me in disdain, I hated myself for ever having anything with her. Mr Peter on his own part was just smiling. I knew he must be overwhelmed with joy..
” come with me he ordered ” I reluctantly followed him to where he was taking me to, we walked to his office, while he sent for two guys from ss3 who came to his office, he told them to hold and leg and hand why I lie down on his desk, he flogged me as if his life depends on it, I didn’t ever cry and it prompted him flogged me till he got to 28, while I still remains mute. I was determined never to cry. I made up my mind not to have anything with miss gift ever again .
“Sir I think is enough ” one of the ss3 boy said after sensing he was not ready to stop.
He halted and smile, flashing his incomplete tooth , I stared at him in disdain..
I hated the math teacher for this foolishness he just did, I knew miss gift didn’t even love him, she was just using him the way miss Cynthia was using Mr Emeka in my formal school, I miss Benita, I miss my formal school , I could not have imagined my life would be this miserable in Hilton, I regretted ever taken the scholarship exam.

I left his office boiling with rage, I saw miss gift on my way going to My class, I just walked pass, while she called me back, she asked me to come to her office , I would not have gone to her office but that would have prompted her to released her dog for me which was Mr Peter. I walked to her office with a pounding heart which only beats danger, ” why can’t she just leave me alone” I thought myself, I nocked at her door and walked in, I saw her she was marking some notes , she halted immediately she saw me.
“sit ” she said with a reassuring smile while I sat down looking at her face .
” See best I am sorry for asking mr Peter to flogged you, but you really made me angry, one thing i hated most is for a student to disrespect me but believe me I regretted my actions, I only told him to flog you 6 struck but i heard he flogged you more than 24, please find a place in your heart to forgive me and let’s continue our relationship. ” miss gift poured out to me making me to stared at her in awe.
I was trying to process what she said. ” we should continue our relationship ” when I am not mad, i said to myself.
” MA I had no grudges with you, i have already forgiven you but I can’t continue anything I am having with you, it’s not even right for us to be dating, please let’s just stop this idiocy ” I replied while she breathed heavily.

” I would give you time to think about it ” she said” you can go to your class “she added while I left to my class .

” why had this woman chosen to make my life miserable, why can’t she just leave me alone, am I the only boy in this school,? “I said to myself as I walked to the class.

I could see people starring at me, and to my greatest surprised I saw Elena sitting with James and his fellow members of the snoop, i was jealous, I was busy starring at him before a teacher walked to the class while I quickly left to my sit.
Few hours later the time keeper rang the bell for school dismissal while we all walked to our hostel, I was expecting to walked with Elena but I was flabbergasted seeing her walking with the snoop, I quickly ran after her in other to confront her..
” Elena let’s go ” I said and held her hands .” she is not going anywhere James replied and snatched her hands from me, while I stared at Elena In disbelief.
“See best I am no longer yor girlfriend, so it’s not your responsibility to walked me to my hostel ” she said and went with the snoop leaving me dumbfounded and downcast.” so is this how my relationship with Elena going to end ” I thought to myself…
” let’s go bro ” Daniel said from behind jolted me away from my thoughts.

Few minutes later I got to my hostel while i quickly went to the bathroom to freshen up before i eat lunch. Immediately I remembered the phone Nifemi gave me, I quickly unwrapped it from the pack and I saw a sim, I insert it and to my surprised the sim was already registered, I checked the data and found 6gb.. “maybe it’s her sim” I concluded. The phone was dame beautiful with the camera of 13mp…
Suddenly a nocked Came at the door, I went and open the door and behold Nifemi, who was dressed in a short gown. While her killing point were just starring St me. I stared at in surprised, she was looking more beautiful in her pink gown which reviews all her hidden treasure.
” what are you starring ” she asked.
” noth_ing ” I replied sheepishly..
” but you look beautiful today ” I told her. ” so you mean I am not always beautiful “she asked with a smile.
” no not that, is just that – – -_-” I was confused on what to replied her, she just busted into hysterical laughter.
” I knew what you mean, I was just pulling your legs ” she said.

” so can we go to the library ” she asked while I nodded affirmatively.

We walked to the library and located a chair from the back seat and sat down. The library was scanty only few people could be seen reading.

” so tell me what happened between you and Elena ” she asked.. ******Chai what will I reply her now ***** there was no way I could tell he the truth, and I know if i should tell her a lie she might know, so the only option I had left was to tell her a truthful lie ****oxymoron, ****

” That’s not what I heard, ” she said. ****Chai she don catch me ****
” i heard you were dating miss gift ” she said. ” what!!!!!! ” I exclaimed in shock.
” do you believe that I would date my teacher, is it possible ” I asked putting her in a tight corner.

MY LIFE IN HILTON HIGH SCHOOL- Episode 4-8 (E-books/Story)

EPISODE 4

I left them and headed home, I could feel pains on my body, my face had increased sizes , different kinds of bruises could be seen around my body.
” Thank God I was compensated with 5k” I consoled myself as I walked home.

Immediately I got home, Victor and amaka were flabbergasted seeing me.
” what happened , did you had an accident ” amaka asked with concern well written on her face.
” have you eating ” I replied trying to evade her question.
” No we’ve not ” Victor quickly replied while I handed him #500 to go buy something himself and amaka.
” thanks” he replied shinning his 32.
” brother please tell me what happened ” she asked again while I breathed heavily.
Truth be told amaka was really caring, not like Victor who cared only about his stomach.
” I was hit by a bike” I lied.
“Okay but brother were did you get the Money from ” she asked with suspicion.
” the kind man gave me 5. 000 naira to go treat myself ” I calmly muttered while she breathed in relieve.

Few minutes later victor arrived holding Bread and bean cake popular known as akara . I left them and headed to my room, i gaze at my reflection from the mirror and I was angry for what I saw, I look like someone that survive a plane crash. ” Samuel will sure pay for this I said to myself as I drafted to a deep slumber .
I did not knew when I slept for 2 hours, I woke up with a serious headache, and i was very hungry as well because I had not eaten since morning .
I quickly went outside to look for a place to buy food, I saw my mum, she was just coming back from the market. I quickly collected her load while she stared at my face, I guess she noticed some changes.
” Dear what happened to you” my mum asked with conscience well written on her face.
” I had an accident ” I replied while she gave me suspicious look.
” Did you had an accident on your face ” she asked while I shrugged in resignation. There is no way I could tell her I was mistaken for a thief, so I thought for a well arrange lie to say too her.

” am I not talking to you ” she muttered breaking me away from my thoughts.

” I was hit by a bus and I hit my face on the wall” i replied while she breathed heavily.

” I don’t just know why you choose to lie” but I won’t force you if you don’t want to say the truth. ” she replied as she went to the room.

One thing about my mother is that she always knows when I am lying, I don’t know if it’s her talent or gift.

I quickly went to a near by restaurant to eat a plate of fufu and egusi soup, and drank a bottle water, which had been long I had tested It.
” Money is Good ” I said to myself as I headed home.

” were did you go ” my mum asked as i walked to the room.

” I went to the restaurant to eat ” I replied .

” where did you get the money from ” she asked suspiciously.

” I forgot to tell you, the kind man gave me #5000 to go treat myself ” I replied as i handed the money to her.

” Is money you can keep it ” she said as she decline.

” You need it more than I do ” I calmly muttered while she collected the money and gave me #1000 and handed #500 each to Emmanuel and amaka.

” I would be writing a scholarship exam on Saturday” I told her and went to the room .

I quickly went to the room to fill the form the principal gave me because I would be submitting it tomorrow. Immediately I was done, I drafted to sleep. I guess the fufu really had an effect on me that I woke up the next day which was on Thursday.

I immediately went to the bathroom to take my bath, few minutes later I came out and put on my uniform and gaze at my reflection on the mirror ” Chai those mob really dealt with Me” I said to myself as I walked to school. The time was already 7:30am so the assembly had already started, without wasting time I joined them.

The Assembly was boring as always, few minutes later we were done while I walked to my class. Some students were busy starring at me but i don’t give a Dam about them.
I got to my class and saw Benita laughing, Immediately she saw me. ” I was like do I look funny”
Samuel walked in and looked at my face and busted into laughter.
” Best don go steal meat for pot Chai best who do you like this ” Samuel asked while the rest of my class mate busted into laughter. I quickly recall what happened, they were all laughing at the injuries the angry mob inflated on me, but Samuel was the thief they were looking for and he is the curse of my misfortune” I thought to myself as I stared at Samuel with great anger building on me. ” their laughter really made me angry, especially for Samuel who was the architect of my misfortune. I angrily ran to him seeding two heavy punches to him that he hit his mighty head on the wall while the whole building vibrated like Nokia 33_10, ” as I wanted to headbutt him a voice came from Behind.
” Stop that!!!!! ” I quickly trace the author of the voice, who was no other person than Mr Emeka, who had been looking forward to punished me and here am i giving him what he had been craving for, presenting it in a platter of gold . I knew from that moment that nothing could save me from being punished , not even the coming of Christ.

EPISODE 5

Mr Emeka quickly told us to go to the staff room while we quietly walked there .
Immediately we got there he asked us to kneel down.

” So why were you guys fighting ” he asked with a straight face.

” Sir is because” did i asked you to explain he cut me short as I was about to explained . .

” Samuel why were you guys fighting ” he asked Samuel while Samuel began to smile flashing his incomplete tooth, because I just removed 2 from his 32 tooth .

” Sir when I walked in, I saw most of my class mate laughing, so I joined them, I don’t know when best quickly attacked me, punching me on my face as if I am the only one laughing. I was surprised because I did nothing wrong. You can verify from the rest of our class mate who was in the class when it all happened ” Samuel explained while Mr Emeka smile in acknowledgment.
He quickly asked a junior student to call one of my class mate and behold benita was the one he called.

Few minutes later Benita walked in.

” Benita you were there when it all happened” Mr Emeka asked Benita who nodded affirmatively, while I stared at her with a pounding heart. I know, if any one could save me I am sure it was not Benita.

” it was when best walked in and when I saw his face I started laughing because his face looks kind of funny but when Samuel. Came in, he started mocking him saying he stoled meat from the pot and he was captured and was beaten like this ” Benita calmly explained surprising me with her words .

” Sir can I explained now ” i asked him while he gave me a go ahead.

” This reason while I was angry with Samuel was not really because of what he said but it was what happened yesterday, when I was going to my mother’s shop, I saw Samuel running with great speed, as I swiftly turned to my left hand side, I saw an angry mob running to my direction. What even marveled me the most was that they thought I was Samuel who was the thief they were looking for, so they all came to me sending punches to me before the man that Samuel stole from stopped them saying I was not the one they were looking for. that I was mistaken for Samuel because we wore the same uniform. that was how I got those bruise on my face, if you thought I am lying I will take you to the man Samuel stole from ” I said too him while he breathed heavily .
Mr Emaka was shocked, while Benita on other hand drew back in disbelief.
I quickly stared at Samuel who looked scared as ever even with starring at his face you would know he was guilty.

” Best you can go to your class” Mr Emeka ordered while I breathed in relieve.

I stood up and. walked to my class, Benita was still standing there I guess she never expected things could turned out like this. Even me I was surprised for escaping punishment. .

” Let’s go to the class.” I said to her as I lead the way.

” Sorry for laughing at you, I did not know, that was really what happened, I hope you would forgive me for mocking you ” Benita calmly apologize immediately we left the staff room surprising me with her words.

” It’s nothing to worry about, I don’t have any grudges with you ” I calmly muttered while she surprised me with a hug,. This time it was real cus I could feel and soft skin touching me.
” Can we be friends ” she whispered in my ear and withdrawn from the hug.

” What about being your boyfriend *****I dear not say to her ***** Of course we can be friends ” I calmly muttered while he held my hand as we walk to the class together like new lovers .

During break time I went to the principals office were I quickly submitted the form.

Few hours later the time keeper rang the bell for school dismissal while I quickly went home to prepare for the exam.

By 4:00 pm I was at home reading, as if my life depends on it, I read my government test book, literature, economics all the course I am offering I read all because I don’t know what might comes out in the exam.

The day of the exam finally arrived, I quickly rushed to the bathroom, took my bath and put on a fitted shirt and a blue pencil trouser.

I dash out to were I bedded to bike to the direction of the exam.

Immediately I got there, I quickly scrutinize the environment, while i was flabbergasted because I could see more than Five hundred people lining, as they wrote their names on the registered. In no time I joined and was given a seat number which was 867, I was among the few people that sat on the back seat.

The question paper were quickly distributed to us while we were told not a write anything, not even our names .

A boy at my left hand side who didn’t read the instructions, wrote his name, and he had already solved the number one questions which was mathematics. The invigilator sighted him and quickly collected his paper and asked him to leave.
Surprising everyone with his ruthless behavior. The young boy pleaded but the invigilator didn’t even pay attention to his pleads . The young boy had to choice than the leave the examination premises.

Immediately the bell was range and we were all told to start . I quickly face the area which I am good at which was government and literature.
The questions were not hard as I thought. I saw some guys at my back doing examination malpractice. I shook my head in pity.
“is it a must to go to Hilton high school ” I thought to myself as I wrote the exam.

” Stand up you fool” the invigilator bark pointing to my direction while all eyes were on me.

I started to panicked.

” What did I do wrong ” I asked myself as I stood up while sweat drenched my face as I vibrated in great fear.

EPISODE 6

I stood up with a pounding heart” what did I do wrong ” I thought to myself as the invigilator walked to my direction.

” let me see your paper ” he asked as he approached me. After scanning the paper, he bend down to look at my locker, but couldn’t find anything incriminating.

” Sorry ” he said as he moved forward.

” hey you stand up “he asked the two guys at my left.

” what’s that on your desk” he said as he dips his hand in their locker under their desk. He brought out an android phone showing it to everybody while we all gaps in shocked .

” so you are the one doing expo with your phone” he asked them while they remain mute.

The invigilator quickly collected their scripts and tore it. He asked them to leave while the two guys shamefully walked out.
I stared at them with pity.

After I was through answering the questions, I quickly cross check if I made any errors in other to correct it. After I had done that I submitted and headed home, I smile at my self as I walked home. The question were very simple, I never expected it to be so.

Few minutes to my journey i was already home, I quickly drafted to deep slumber because I was very weak and tired.

The next day which was on Friday was uneventful even Saturday and Sunday was the same so let me not bore you with the details.

The D day finally arrived when the principal would be announcing the results. I just had This fate that my name would be among because I really did well in the exam .

I did my normal routine and headed to school with great anticipation of being among the scholarship student.
After praises and worship, I was expecting the principal to come stand on the podium to give his speech but I was disappointed when he never showed up. We all left for our classes as the assembly was concluded.

Benita and I had really became close friends that most of my class mate started calling us husband and wife. I always smile when they called me her husband but Benita on the other hand was indifferent about it.

Samuel on his part was really dealt with by Mr Emeka that I felt sorry him, but all the same the deserves it.

2 hours later the time keeper range the bell for assemble surprising everyone because it was not break time yet. we all went outside, I saw the principal standing on the podium, I know from that moment that he wants to make announcement about the scholarship exam . I stood on the line with a pounding heart filled with anxiety.

” Good morning students ” he greeted while we all replied in unison. He quickly begins

” I am just happy to announce to you that out of 30 students that wrote the exam in this school , we do have one who was among the 10 students that would be rewarded with scholarship although so many of you tried but only the best 10 was chosen so the person that was chosen was no other person than Best ogbemudia” the principal called out my name while my fellow students scream with excitement, I know I really did well in the exam but I never expected I could be among the scholarship once. Immediately I heard my name my whole body vibrated with excitement. The principal quickly asked me to come in front of the assemble while I boldly walked there. Some guys were hailing me from behind.

” I had always knew you to be intelligent even though you are kind of rough ” the principal told me as he patted me on the back.
” I would like to say a few words I said to the principal while he nodded for me to go ahead.

” I am so elated being among the few students that was rewarded with scholarships, one thing I will like to say is that it is not by my power but through preparation you will achieve anything, like the saying goes, ” Success comes when preparation meets opportunity” so always prepare because you would never know when the opportunity might present itself. ” I told my fellow students while they gave me a round applauded .

The assembly was dismissed while we all went to our various classes, the principal called me and gave me the registration forms and told me to fill it and submit it next tomorrow In Hilton high school because I will be starting the school next tomorrow. I was happy and sad, I was happy because I would be going to a boding school, and I was sad because I would not see my Benita again.
I left his office and headed to my class, I sat down on my sit with great excitement, the thought of going to Hilton high school sent shiver down my spine.

Benita came to sit with me, I don’t really know what was wrong with her because she was just looking moody ever since we came back from the assembly.

” So when will you be starting Hilton high school ” she asked as she sat on my sit,
” next tomorrow but I will not be coming to school tomorrow because I will have to arrange my luggage ” I calmly muttered while she drew back in disbelief.

” Next tomorrow!!!! ” she almost shouted in astonishment while I calmly nodded.

” so soon, I would missed you ” she replied surprising me with her words” Benita missed me praise God ” I sang inwardly.

” I will missed you more ” I told her.
” No, you don’t get, you can’t missed me more, I love you best please don’t go, cus I can’t stand loosing you ” she added while I was surprised, Benita love me, that was a dream come true. No doubt I was deeply in love with her.

Her words really had an effect on me that I was totally flummoxed on the decision to take.

I became confused. should I remain here with Benita Who was the love of my life or should I go to Hilton which was my dream school?

First and foremost my name is God knows the best but people called me best for short because the name was too long. I am 5.11 fit tall, 17 years of age, dark in complexion and handsome, I was the kind of guy girls called ladies guy; but I neither a flirt nor saint.

I am the first born from a family of 3 (2 boys and a girl). My family was blessed with extreme brilliant but I was the most outstanding

We lived with our mum because my dad was late. Living with single parent was not really easy but according to a saying “if wishes were horses beggars would ride” I wish my dad was alive because living in poverty is not really cool but what can I do about It? According to legend “A man must accept his fate or be destroyed by it”.

My dad was a wealthy business man who gained a lot of success while he was alive, life was good, I and my siblings attended one of the best schools, wore designer’s clothes until my dad was assassinated.

It all happened when I was in JSS 3. In the midnight of one day, around 11:30pm, there was a strident noise at our door; we knew that they must obviously be armed robbers. They smacked at the door very hard until it was ramshackle. Bouncing in, they shot my dad on the fore head and disappeared into the dark night. What marveled me the most was why they only shot my dad and nothing more and how they easily located my dad.

I called them armed robbers because they stole my dad from me. And ever since then, life became a living hell for us; my mother’s business collapsed within a month, my father’s brothers took over his business while we were left with nothing. They claimed my father’s house which we lived in and left us in the mud

My mum used the little money that was left with her to rent a room apartment somewhere in Ojo, okokomaiko to be precise.

I and my siblings had to be withdrawn from the private school we were attending due to my mum’s inability to meet to the demand of the school. We started a government school while my mum started a petty business which was where we feed from. She d’ sale pap popularly known as ogi. Expectedly the business was not really flourishing, we don’t even expect it to move or can you expect a business that is been set up with not more than 2 thousand naira to fetch good money? As a result, I and my siblings had to embark on hawking in other to boost the economic situation of the business. But yet, it was almost the same, only slightly changes

How do I become a student at Hilton? How would life be in Hilton? Who will I meet? How would life be for me being a poor student among those rich kids?

Stay tune to find out as the drama entailed in this lesson filled tale begins to unfurl gently

EPISODE 1

I woke up in the morning which was Monday, the first day of school resumption after the long holiday. “I was in SS2 then “at last I finally made it to SS2″ I murmured to myself.

I quickly went to the bathroom to take my bath, few minutes later, I was done. I came out to behold my brother and sister still sleeping.

“If awards of late coming are to be given, Victor and Amaka would have won millions of it. Seriously, I don’t get why they love coming late.

“According to Amaka, she says she hate the assemble because it was always boring. Must that warrant late coming? . Most students hated assembly, me especially but I don’t like to come late. I was known for being early to school, and it made some junior students point fingers at me as their future head boy. But that was not really my target, not that I don’t like being head boy but I look forward to something bigger and flexible, I always see the tag of a head boy as stress rather than a serious migraine….

*********************

I quickly put on my well ironed uniform, gazed at my reflection at the mirror. “fine boy” I said to myself and dashed out.

I saw my mother outside in the kitchen; she was making pap as I got outside, I would have loved to help her out but I would be late. So I greeted her and walked down to school.

By the time I got to school, people were already lining up for the assembly.

We did praises and worship before the principal came on the podium in front of the students to give his speech. Seriously, I hated listening to the crap he called speech as he will keep on blabbing from one topic to the other

He started by greeting the students while we all respond in unison.

“I have a very serious topic” he started as usual “it’s about a scholarship that had just been brought to my notice” he brought out a piece of paper showing it to the group of students “the scholarship is for the popular school we’ve been hearing about which is the great Hilton high school which we all know as the biggest and best school at Lagos at large. I will like every one of you to pick the form which is just N2000 only and be among the 10 people that would be rewarded with the scholarship to Hilton.
Although more than a thousand of people would be sitting for the exam, only the best 10 would be picked from JSS1 to SSS2. As a result, I advise you purchase the form and sit for the scholarship exam which will commence next week.
You never knew if you could make it” the principal advised while I noticed some students jubilating as though they have been given scholarship already.

Worst of all, I even saw Emmanuel who was known as the dullest student jumping up like an Imo state masquerade.

“So are you going to purchase the form?” someone asked me from behind. I swiftly turned back to behold Deborah

Deborah was my classmate; we have been class mate since JSS 3. She had this crush on me but I don’t really feel anything for her. Don’t blame me because she was very fat. Her dad was loaded; I don’t know why she had to attend government owned school. All the same, everything has a reason.

“I don’t think so” I muttered calmly with the intention of taking my leave because I don’t really like talking to her. That was my nature; i hate talking to fat and ugly girls as their chats was always boring.

I left her and went to my class to sit down. Immediately I sat, down I behold her. Who?

Her name was Benita, one of the most beautiful being the great almighty God has ever created. Rumors had it that the lord spent 2 weeks in creating her. She has what I called killing point and massive curve, she looked like Nadia Buhari but more beautiful.

Benita was my crush, she was every guys dream. She do not date anybody at school, she don’t even talk to me that much. Just normal classmate talks
She believed that none of the guys at school were up to her standard.

She was cat walking to her sit like a royal princess. I was busy staring at her before I heard my name.

“Best!!!!!

I quickly turned to my right to see who was calling me

“Best, your eye go blind because of Benita” a boy said from behind.

“Fool. na your eye go blind ” I fired back at him.

Immediately the literature teacher came to our class and everyone composed him/herself.

She was a female whose name was Miss Cynthia. A young beautiful Igbo lady though very ruthless and wicked. Everybody was afraid of her because she always bombards us with questions.

“So Samuel what is Onomatopia” she asked pointing at one of the dullest student at the back.

“onomatopia means the—-……… ” Samuel was stuttering while the girls at the back were busy laughing.

” Just take a look at yourself, a full grown up man like you, don’t even know the meaning of onomatopia, go on your kneels” she shouted “I am talking to you and you are still standing ” Samuel quickly knelt down.

“So Benita, what’s onomatopia ” she asked Benita. She stood dumb as sweat drenched her beautiful face.

” ma—onomatopia is – – – – ” she was stammering.

” onomatopia simply means sounds imitation ” I said from behind while the whole student stared at me in astonishment. Miss Cynthia on the other hand gave me a deadly look which made me shivered in fear.

” what is innuendo ” she asked me why I started starring at the ceiling as if the answers were there.

“I said what innuendo Mr. I too know. You wanted to save her because she is your girl friend right?” Miss Cynthia asked

“God forbid! He is not my boy friend ooo” Benita said in disgust

What shall it profit a man to help the girl he likes and loses his soul?

EPISODE 2

“Ma, I don’t have an idea” I confessed while she gave me a lethal look.

“Just kneel down there till I finish teaching” She coldly ordered.

While I knelt down, some girls were busy laughing at me, even Benita too was laughing. I was so ashamed of myself. I hardly got punished by teachers. Just because i decide to help Benita, this woman decided to ask me what she has never thought us before. “Innuendo” or maybe she means Ini Edo the actress. Benita on her own part did not even help matters; she was rejecting me like a plague, someone I just save from embarrassments. No wonder people said that women are very wicked……..

As I was kneeling down, I decided to take a one look at Benita ***don’t blame me, her beauty was irresistible *** she was busy writing what was written on the board. .”Chai! Benita too fine” I said to myself. She either accidentally turned to my direction and our eyes met, I shivered in fear of beauty.

“Ma, Best is disturbing me ” she complained to the teacher .

“Go to the staff room and kneel down” Miss Cynthia ordered me while I angrily stood up push the desk in front of me and walk to the staff room.

Immediately I got to the staff room, I quickly look at the time on my wrist watch and it remained 20 minutes for her period to be over. I decided to go to commercial class after all there was still enough time but little did I know that going to commercial class would even became more perilous for me.

Luckily for me there was no teacher there so I walked in with confidence. I liked going to commercial class because they were more matured than us as they do not disturb, “i will get in what they are discussing” I said to myself as i walk to a group of students discussing.
Actually the topic was no other than the outrageous increase in price of foodstuffs.

” Buhari is not that bad, Jonathan caused it all” I chipped in

” Wetin you know? abeg no come support Buhari here, person go dey buy rice 250, kerosene 240, everything just increased, even pure water na 10 naira and you dey here they say buhari no bad. abeg Best abi London best no talk rubbish here oo” the girls at my left hand side fired back at me.

I was so into the discussion that I forgot that Miss Cynthia asked me to kneel down in the staff room.

A junior student suddenly came to the class “Please, is Best here?” the young boy asked respectfully.

” Who is looking for him ” I asked from behind.

“Miss Cynthia is looking for you” he replied and walked out.

I knew from that moment that I was already a dead man.

Chai! I quickly checked the time on my wrist watch and 40 minutes had gone.

Immediately, i went to the staff room to face my judgment.

I walked in with pounding heart.

“I asked you to kneel down here and you went to commercial class to discuss politics abi, politicians?” she mocked while the rest of the teachers busted into laughter.

“Mr. Emaka, please, I need you to flog him 8 stroke so that next time, if I asks you to kneel down you won’t disobey me” she said while Mr Emaka began to smile sheepishly.

Mr Emaka quickly came forward holding his instrument of coercion.

“turn your back” he said as he swung the Cain. As he was about flogging me, the principal walked in. ” Best I need you in my office” the principal said while I quickly breathed in relief.

“Make sure you come back” Mr Emaka said.

“when I no be fool” I replied in my mind.

Truth be told, the principal was a lifesaver, Mr emaka would have dealt with me just to prove to his girlfriend that he is a man. Yeah you heard me right. Mr emaka was dating Miss Cynthia or let me say, Mr Emaka was Miss Cynthia house boy and her A. T. M. machine. Everybody knew that except Mr Emaka or rather Emaka, because he did not deserved mister in his name.

*************************

I walked into the principal’s office and saw 4 student with him.

I quickly stood at the back of the students with a pounding heart wondering while the principal wanted to see me.

” I know you guys are wondering why I called you, it’s about the scholarship examination. I will like you guys to write the exam because 5 of you here are the best students in this school and I think you can scale through If you believe in yourself. ” the principal said. While I breathed in relief because I thought that I might have committed another crime and he wants to punished me.

“We will surely write the exam” a girl at my left replied.

“What about you Best?” the principal asked pointing at me.

“Sir am not really sure if I would be writing because I don’t have the money for the form. “I calmly explained while he breathed heavily.

“Okay. I will give you the form for free because I believe in you, and you must promise me that you will be among the 10 students that will be rewarded with scholarship and make this school proud” the principal replied surprising me with his kind gesture

“I promise sir” I assured him while he gave us the form and discharged us.

When I got to the class, it was already break time so students were busy playing and buying food. I quickly walked to my class to relax.

I saw Benita busy pressing her phone as I walked in. immediately she heard my footsteps she quickly looked as if it was a teacher approaching. Our eyes met while I shiver in fear of her beauty for umpteenth time. Don’t blame me because I don’t know why I always shiver when our eye met. I guess it was because she was the most beautiful girl I have ever came across.

” Hi best ” she says with a smile, while I was stunned because Benita had never talk to me first.

“God is great” I sang inwardly.

“Hey” I replied.

She simply stood up from her sit and came to embrace me, she gave me a tight hug surprising everyone with her action.

It was as if I was in heaven, her fair skin was so soft while her b—-t touches my chest sending electric current down my spine as shivered in ecstasy.

“Chai! God is wonderful” I sang inwardly.

EPISODE 3

” Thanks” she whispered in my ear and withdrawn from the hug.

” love WA ti ti” some girls were saying from behind.
Is this really love or pity? I asked myself.
” hope you were not flog ” she asked with concerned well written on her beautiful face.

” Just fill stroke of Cain. is nothing to worry about ” I lied while she gave another hug.

Best!!!!!!!
Best!!!!!!!

I heard my name but who was calling me. Immediately my vision became clear,” Chai It was just imagination ” I said to myself as I saw one of my friend Victor shouting my name from the back sit. I was still standing at the entrance door to our class holding the form the principal gave too me.
” So benita never really huged me. Chai God punished Satan” I curse inwardly.
I walk to my sit and decided not to look at the direction of benita.
” how was the punishment ” benita mocked while her friends giggled like stupid fools.

I didn’t even replied her because I was so clouded with my thought, . I thought about what the principal said about the scholarship exam, Is it really possible for me to scale through, let me just try it and see after all I had nothing to loose I said to my self as I brought out my government test book to read.

Suddenly Mr Emake walked in because we were having government and his our government teacher. …..
I don’t really like him because he do favored girls. The one thing I hate most in my life is favoritism

” best I thought I told you to come ” he asked as he approached me.

My Careless Mother Final Episodes (e-book/Story)

Episode Eight (cool

Out of curiosity, I insisted I must know what was wrong with Faith since I was the major financier of her medical bills. No one was telling me until I stopped bringing money for anything. My mum reluctantly told me she did an abortion and it was not well managed and she had complications. As I talk to you now, your sister’s womb has to be removed to save her life. Immediately I heard this I went blank. After some minutes I asked mum if she revealed who impregnated her. No, shez said she doesn’t know who was responsible. Meanwhile the doctor advised we don’t bother her for now until she’s out of the hospital.

I was mad in my spirit, let it not be what I was thinking, I mustered some words to myself. Could it be that dad had also been sleeping with Faith without my knowledge? Faith is a decent girl and she has never told me she had a boyfriend. We talked a lot and I would have known if she was seeing any guy. My reaction got my mum worried but I couldn’t tell her what was going on in my mind. If daddy is responsible for Faith’s pregnancy, I will kill him and kill myself. I assured myself.

My heart was heavy and weak. Why are all these things happening to us alone? O God have mercy on Fowogbade’s family. Grace was gone, mum lost her job, Faith is laying helpless in the hospital, dad’s business had totally collapsed, landlord had given us ultimatum to leave the house, I have become a sex addict, everyone had abandoned us, eating regular food and living a good life is elusive, Christy is at home because of school fees. What is our offense? Why are all these things happening to us at the same time? Who did we offend? What happened to those prayers mum did for the family? God, are you in existence?

When I was left alone with Faith I hugged her passionately to my heart. Dear, I love you and you will live to testify of God’s goodness. I spoke many words of hope to her. Faith, I know who is responsible for your pregnancy! I said and looked straight into her eyes for a long time. Is he the one? She bent her head and tears rolled down uncontrollably. I looked at those tears and I saw betrayal, disappointment, dashed hope, hatred and unexpressed agony. Without a word, I understood those tears. They are tears that spoke volume more than words. Dad had been doing it with Faith too. But why will dad be this wicked? Why did dad wear the garment of an angel but a heart of a monster? We held ourselves for minutes as we both sob bitterly in each other’s arms. (this is a case of a dad’s involvement, there were instances where an elder brother subjected the younger sisters to sucking his penis until he cums. Hmmm, things are happening – story for another day. They knew it was wrong but couldn’t talk as kids, but today as adults, the whole childhood early experience has contributed to the hatred meted out to him.)

Faith narrated what she has been through in dad’s prison. I thought my case was pathetic but Faith’s own was more terrible. Faith spent two hours telling me how it all started. Dad started sleeping with Faith at age 11. A time she was yet to menstruate. He started by putting his finger in my pant, then he will tell me never to tell anybody. He told me he will kill me if I ever tell anybody. At a time, I couldn’t stand to hear the atrocities my dad had done to us. Mum was the genesis of our problems. She was never available for us when we needed her. Dad played the role of a father and a mother. Mum made dad’s life miserable because she saw him as an unbeliever. Dad never enjoyed mum’s intimacy hence he found solace in his daughter’s laps. If dad must die, mum should die first. I will take vengeance as I live, I promised myself. I can no longer wait for God’s judgment or the threats of my spirit husband. Their judgment is too slow.

Episode Nine

Faith’s womb was damaged because dad had done abortion for her three times. But how manage I didn’t know all these when it was happening right under my nose? If I accused mum of carelessness, I think I was more careless than her. How can my sister be pregnant for my dad three times without me knowing? She did three abortions and I was not aware? Adenike you’re very stupid and useless, I insulted myself.

I had sat down to weight the consequences of exposing dad and killing him. Killing him seems better. It will clean the mess and save the family name from shame and disgrace. Exposing him will drag the family name to the mud and lives everlasting stigma to our generation. The stain will haunt us all, our lives and our unborn children. Who knows if he had done it with Christy and Grace too? That will be the worst of the blow. Grace was gone but I can find out from Christy if she had been abused by dad too.

I was deep in this though when I slept off. In my brief sleep I had a long dream. In my dream, I sent thugs to kidnap my spirit husband who had been abusing me. They brought him into a thick forest where he was tied, hands and foot. The leader of the gang gave me a gun to shoot him. I took the gun and pulled the trigger and blew his head off. As soon as I killed him, some police officers surrounded us and took us away. We were thrown behind bars with serious torture. Still in my dream we were charged to court and when the court clerk called my case she said “I hereby call up the case between Miss Adenike Fowogbade and the state”. The judge looked into the file before him and looked at my face, Miss Adenike Fowogbade you were accused of the murder of Mr Temitayo Fowogbade on the 17th of September, are you guilty or not? I had not said a word when the judge pronounced his judgment.

Having been found guilty of this offense of murder you are hereby sentenced to death by……. That was the last thing I heard and the next I saw was that I was thrown into a dark bottomless pit and I was going down endlessly then I woke up. I was so frightened and my body was shaking uncontrollably for minutes. I became restless because I understood the dream. All messages I ever heard on hell fire flashed back in a jiffy.

I tried to pray but to pray but no single word came out of my mouth. I tried crying but my tears were held back. My knees were hitting each other. I lied on the floor for 25 minutes without knowing what to do. The earth was so empty as if rapture had taken place. I looked right and left nobody to talk to. I looked down, the fear of hell gripped me. So I decided to look up to God for help. I felt an invisible presence at my back saying “The prayer of a sinner is an abomination before God”. I picked my Bible but the pages were blank. O God have mercy on me! I know I had gone far away from you but please remember the blood of your Son, Jesus Christ. I wept in bitterness.

Terrible things happened in part 10.

Episode Ten (10)

The fear and terror of hell made me suspend my plans to kill dad. As much as I wanted vengeance against him, the experience of hell I had in my dream was so scary and frightening. Hell is not a place to be for a minute talk more of eternity. I rather swallow the venom of vengeance than go to that terrible place. But why would someone I am related with or any human creature in God’s image consciously or unconsciously be the one to make me go to hell? Your end will be terrible and full of regrets.

The few minutes I spent in the bottomless pit cannot be described with man’s language. If you are reading this story I beg you never to go to hell. Some persons have sworn to take you to hell through the manipulation of their master the devil, please do not allow their plot to prevail over you. Please! Live a life that heaven would be happy with you for.

Faith’s womb was removed but mum never knew what the real problem was. After Fatih was discharged from the hospital, dad........

MY CARELESS MOTHER Episode4-7

E-books/Story

*Episode Four*

Mum was promoted to the position of a Branch Manager and was transferred to Ibadan to head a new branch. This was what she had worked for all these years. Becoming a Branch Manager was her utmost dream for many years. Mum was so happy with her new position but the transfer did not go well with dad and all of us. She never gave dad opportunity to protest her transfer when she started making out her plans. Within two weeks, mum had contacted an agent in Ibadan through a colleague who got her a two bedroom flat in the outskirts of Ibadan. When mum left for Ibadan I knew it was a journey to marital desolation for dad.

“I don’t want to say anything because you may think I don’t want your progress but leaving your family at this time is not healthy”, my dad protested. “So what should I have done? Resign the job or reject the offer? The position I have laboured for all through the years? This is God’s open door and I can’t afford to throw it away. Instead of you to rejoice with me, you are here talking about family. All our children are all grown and Nike can take care of her sisters well. I will always come home for weekend.” My mum replied as she ordered Faith and Christy to move her things into the waiting van outside. We are surely not going to miss mum because her temporary exit from the house will give us a level of freedom and peace. We will be free from her nagging and troubles.

That night mum left for Ibadan, my dad came into my room like the other time. From his eyes you could see lust and determination to get what he wanted. “Please daddy, don’t do this to me. I thought you said you love me? Why will you be the one to take away my virginity? Please daddy! Please daddy!! Please daddy!!!” All my begging fell on deaf ears as my dad forced himself into me. It was really painful going through this evil act. He left my room without saying a word to me after he stole my virginity. My love for my dad disappeared like a vapour. My love for him turned to hatred immediately. My loving dad became a rapist, the man I trusted all my life became a beast and a terror. My tears was thick and I could hear the loud sound they made when they dropped to the ground.

Three hours later, he came knocking at my door. His voice that was once a balm to my soul suddenly turned to a terrific sound. The fear that griped me when I heard his voice behind the door was frightening. “I am sorry Nike, I am sure you know daddy loves you. Please open the door, I have a surprise for you.” If I had a knife in my room that day, I would have committed murder. I would stab him and stab myself. I sobbed bitterly all through the night. I didn’t come out for three days even when my sisters came knocking. I could see the worries on my sisters and I didn’t want them to do anything stupid, so I opened the door on the third day.

Who would you blame, my dad or my mum? The nightmare of what my dad did to me began to trail me. My sisters tried all they could to find out what happened to me but how can I tell my sisters my father took my virginity by force? It is sacrilege and abomination in Yoruba land for a father to have canal knowledge of his own biological daughter. I knew what his act will cost the family but I can’t talk to anybody about it. I can’t manage the shame and mockery. The thought to poison my dad began to find its way into my mind. I will kill him and free myself of the trauma of his presence.

What else should I have done?

MY CARELESS MOTHER*

*Episode Five*

Mum could not fulfil her promise to come home every weekend. Some months, she only came once and sometimes twice. I became hostile in the house and everyone knew something was wrong but no one among my sisters was matured enough to investigate further.

I perfected my plans to poison my dad but that was not easy. On two occasions, I had planned to put the poison in his food but I will discard it again. Seeing him got me irritated. I wished he could die of accident or one mysterious thing but none of these happened.

For three months, I rarely talk to my dad even though we lived under the same roof with me. All the time mum visited, she never suspected anything because I put up pretentious attitudes that looked like all was well. I will enter my shell again as soon as she returns back to Ibadan.

My dad became depressed because of the happenings around. Nike that used to be his close friend became his arch enemy. My sisters started withdrawing from him because they saw me withdrew too. My dad became an addicted drunkard. He started going to club houses just to suppress his depression. I pitied him and talk to him casually. Life returned back to him and he began to pick up again. But our relationship had gone sour. He was buying me different gifts just to pacify me but all that was nothing. My desire to take his life got stronger by the day. I was loosing concentration in school because of what my dad did to me.

On Sunday, our pastor gave a powerful sermon on “forgiveness”. He highlighted seven reasons why forgiveness will do you good than whom you are forgiving. The sermon was so touching that I had no option than to drop my murderous plan. Pastor made an altar call for those who need grace to forgive those who had hurt them. I jumped out and he prayed for us. The prayer was like lifting a heavy rock off my chest. I became light and free. I wish I could die that moment and just go to heaven straight to rest from the trouble of this world. I got home that day and prepared my dad’s favourite food just to communicate my forgiveness to him. Nike, I am grateful you have forgiven me; he held my hand as I served him his food to whisper to my ear.

On Monday, my dad bought me a big phone he ordered from the UK. He knew how much I desired to own a phone but mum will not allow him buy me one. This girl is too young to own a phone, mum had warned dad several times. If you buy her a phone I will smash it on the floor, mum threatened. She insisted none of us will own a phone until we are eighteen. But all my friends in school have phones yet they concentrated on their studies. It was never a distraction like mum painted. I loved the phone dad bought for me because all my friends in school who had intimidated me with theirs began to respect me when they saw mine.

I was enjoying my phone for three months and mum didn’t know I own a phone. When she’s around I put it off, remove the battery and hide it all through until she had gone.

As I was gaining my dad’s confidence, he struck again. This time he drugged me and raped me. In my sleep I had a dream a man came and force himself into me. He beat me up after he raped me and warned me never to tell anybody again or else he will kill me with his machete. In the dream, I cried in pain until I woke up and noticed the pain all over my body. I couldn’t lift my hands nor legs. My dad did it again!

MY CARELESS MOTHER*

*Episode Six*

It became a regular occurrence that my dad regularly took advantage of me. He does it almost every night. His act exposed me to spirit husband. That man will always come to molest me in the dream. My dad will do his physically, while the man will do his own spiritually. In no time, I lost the will to resist my dad. He destroyed my self esteem and pride. My academic performance started dropping. My position in class moved from 2nd and 3rd to 37th. I began to lose interest in my studies; my mind was clouded with sexual filthiness. At seventeen, I had turned to a sex addict. My dad could no longer meet my sexual needs so I arrange for my school boys and teachers to have sex with me when the urge comes.

I was caught with Ahmed having sex in the toilet and the matter was reported to the vice principal. He invited both of us to his office to investigate the matter but he was caught in the web of the seducing spirit in me. I slept with him three times and the case was closed. When the urge comes upon me, I can sleep with any guy available. It was time to write WAEC and my vice principal had assured me of success if I continued giving him sex. I grabbed the opportunity and made use of it to clear all my papers. I didn’t bother to read my books because the vice principal had arranged everything in my favour. When our result came out, I had distinction in all my papers.

Mum was happy about my result and began to persuade my dad to let them send me abroad for my university education. My dad and mum began another quarrel over my university education. My dad’s business had almost collapse so he only managed to feed us. Mum was the one responsible for our school fees and other major family bills.

On the 8th of March, I was feverish so I went to the nearest chemist in our neighbourhood to get some drugs for myself. After taking the drugs, I wasn’t getting better then I decided to go to Oxford clinic to run some tests. “Young lady, you are six weeks pregnant,” the lab attendant announced to me as he hands the tests result to me. I collected it without saying a word. When I got home I dropped the test result on dad’s bed and locked up the room so my sisters won’t barge into his room and see the result. Dad hardly lock his room, so he was surprised when he came back and found his room locked. He looked at me and Grace who were both in the living room when he arrived but I pretended I didn’t notice him. He seems to understand there must be something fishing, so he removed his key and opened the door. Five minutes later he rushed out and invited me to his room. What is the meaning of this? He pointed the test result to me. I was angry and felt like slapping him. How can he ask me the meaning of the test result in his hand. Did he not know that having unprotected sex, would result to pregnancy? I looked at him with disdain.

“Nobody must hear this, let it be between me and you”, my dad pleaded. We will get rid of it before anyone notice it. He did not allow me go out for one week until he came with a taxi driver that morning. He drove us for a long journey. He took me to a small hospital between Lagos and Ogun state. A place very difficult to find anybody who knew us. An abortion was carried out on me. My first sexual encounter was with my dad, my first pregnancy was for my dad, my first abortion was by my dad.

It wasn’t easy hiding my affairs with dad from my siblings again. They became so curious and suspicious. They asked me many questions I had no answer to. I was running out of my mind after the abortion. My spirit husband will also not give me breathing space. He used me every night with serious beating after having sex with me in the dream. One day I asked him, “Why do you always beat me after having sex with me?” “You are a cheat, you have been giving others what belongs to me. If you don’t stop sleeping with your father, I will kill him one day”, he replied. Intentionally, I continued to have sex with my dad so the spirit man can kill him. I want to be free from him. I want his death desperately to be free from his prison. My loving dad is now a heartless man.

Getting admission into the higher institution became very difficult. Since the spirit man had been having sex with me, nothing was moving for me and dad anymore. Everything I did always end up in failure.

Literature / MY CARELESS MOTHER- Episode 1-3 ( E-book/story) by crownbless96(f): 10:31pm On Nov 23, 2018
*Episode One*

My name is Adenike. I am from Lagos state, Nigeria. I was born 28 years ago into the family of Mr and Mrs Temitayo Fowogbade. I am the first born of my parent and I have three other siblings; Faith, Christiana and Grace. Grace was born as a result of my parent’s search for a baby boy who turned out to be a girl. And the chapter of child birth was closed.

The story of my life is a lesson to mothers of our days. The title of my story would have been better if it was “The Carelessness Of My Mother”, but I chose this title for some reasons.

My mum told me to stop sleeping in her room since I was two years old neither will I sleep in the children’s room but my father’s room. At a time, everyone started calling me the wife of my father, “iyawo baba e”. I grew up to understand what love is all about because my father showed me unreserved love. Sometimes I wouldn’t sleep except I sleep on my father’s chest; his chest became my comfort and bed. My father cannot withstand anyone beating me, not even my mother. The major quarrels I witnessed between my father and my mother were because my mother beat me and my father was not happy about it. There were times they kept malice for days just because of me.

My father wass a successful engineer, a tall handsome man with charming voice. He sings in the choir. He is such a nice man that all and sundry will love to be with because he is also caring. He is tender hearted and jovial. He gives me virtually everything I had ever wanted, including those that were detrimental to my growth as a girl child. There were many things he bought for me without my mother’s knowledge. He had packets of chocolate under his bed that my mother wasn’t aware of for many years. He served me two or three chocolate every night before sleep.

I love playing with my father’s beards because they were well laid around his jaw. I sat on his lap and played with his beards anytime I was angry; it had a way of pacifying my anger. When I turned six, I realized that anytime I sat on my father’s laps he always had erection. As a child, I never knew what erection was or what it meant because we never had a brother neither did anybody told us anything about erection. I loved it when I see his manhood struggling around his boxer. Then I began to play with his manhood anytime I see it rise. My father loved it when I played with it but he will never allow me do it whenever my mother was around. My father’s manhood became my toy and any day I didn’t play with it, he reminds me. “Nike you’ve not played with daddy’s toy”. When he noticed my mother may get to know one day, we restricted the toy play only to bedtime.

Fast forwarding, when I became ten, my father will instruct me to suck his manhood until he ejaculates. That continued until I was thirteen. It became an everyday affair, no sucking, no chocolate. I became so addicted and inseparable to my father. Nobody ever educated me that what I was doing with my father was wrong. He kept assuring me of his love towards me. Of course, I had no doubt because he showed it. Anytime my father traveled, I will be sick all through and get well as soon as he arrived. My love for my father was exceptional. He could tolerate my excesses to a fault. My father was a good man I knew.

Are you getting irritated already? The story just began….

*Episode Two*

My father became my magical being; I almost could not do without him. I trusted him so much because he never hurt me. He tried to keep tears from dropping from my eyes. He was the friend I knew; he was close and listening. He was something different from my mother who was harsh, inconsiderate, unloving and hot tempered. I wasn’t worried about anything because my father was also nice to my siblings alike. Myself, and Grace took after my father in everything but Faith and Christy took after mum. They are unfriendly and difficult.

My bond and intimacy with my father continued until I finished my Junior Secondary School Education and my mother began to nurse the idea of changing my day school to boarding. From the onset, I knew that won’t work because my dad would not part with me neither will I ever want to stay away from dad for such a long time. So it was going to be one against two. It became a serious battle between dad and mum for a long time. Grandma had to interven but all to no avail. Our pastor intervened too on several occasions but my dad would not shift grounds. “I will not take any of my daughters to boarding school and allow anyone to initiate them into witchcraft”, my dad had said several times.

My dad was the first to know when I started menstruating. I had menstruated twice before my mum knew. Before mum could teach me what I needed to know about a woman’s circle my dad already did. Mum’s lecture on womanhood was a revision. Dad already taught me everything I needed to know. My dad got to know a minute after I fell sick. My dad was readily available for us, unlike mum who gave so much time to her career. I would rather confide in my dad than waste my time with mum. She rarely had time to listen to you. If she does, she won’t act until something bad happens.

My mum was a successful banker, an occupation she held with high esteem. Her job meant so much to her because she worked hard to rise to the position she occupied in her bank. Even when mum was sick, she would manage to go to work.

First lesson I learnt from my mum was; the danger of making your career a priority over your family. She gave her best to her career but little attention to us. Her intention sounds genuine but her mistakes could not justify her intention.

Dad was a nominal Christian but mum was a born again Christian with proofs of right standing with God. Dad still sneaks to smoke even though he was a prominent member of the choir. Mum was a prayer warrior and Sunday school teacher. Her fluent English and good communication skills made her one of the best Sunday school teacher in our church. Everyone liked her class because you will always learn a new vocabulary after her teaching. Dad is not a bad person but he was not as serious with God like mum.

They couldn’t stay in the same room because mum will not let dad have a smooth night with her unending prayers and vigils. Mum was not tolerant, she sees dad as an unbeliever, hence she nags and yells at dad almost every day. As I began to grow up, I realized that mum and dad hardly spent time together. Mum was just too busy with office and church work. Dad would have been lonely without us. We became his close confidants while mum was unavailable.

*Episode Three*

My dad understood my circle so well and he plans for it ahead of time. He buys my pads ahead of my monthly periods without my knowledge. After the first lecture mum gave to me on womanhood she never did any follow up again. She left me with my fate. I would have gotten into lots of troubles if not for my dad who was available for me. This is why I can’t leave him for boarding school. Who will give me such attention? Who will be as friendly as my dad? Who will understand and tolerate me like him? These and more questions ran through my mind daily.

The journey to my woe started on the 2nd of June 20…… when my dad became sick and my mum wasn’t available to take good care of him. As young as I was then, I played the role of a mother and a wife all together. I filled in the vacuum my mum created because of her busy schedules. Three days after, my dad recuperated and bounced back. At this time, our bond for each other had grown beyond daughter and father relationship. On several occasions, I had noticed my dad starring at me lustfully and forgetting himself. On the 2nd of June, my dad came into my room. I had stopped sleeping in his room because we could no longer justify why I should continue sleeping there, considering......

Romance / 5 Small Gestures That Can Strengthen Your Relationship by crownbless96(f): 9:36pm On Oct 10, 2018
Small gestures communicate to your significant other that you are thinking of them, that you are tuned into what is important to your partner, and that you desire to make your partner feel loved.

1. Turn off your phone during date nights

It is very rude to chat with Facebook friends while you are on a date with your significant other. Date nights are meant to enjoy each other companionship and undivided attention.

2. Assist them with little things

Supporting your partner’s idea to start a new business or e-commerce is not enough. Get actively involved and you will find loopholes that need to be filled.

If you don’t have any idea about it, look for an expert who can make their work easy and your partner will be forever grateful.

3. Show physical affection

Sometimes a big hug is all it takes to make your spouse know you care about them. Good night and early morning kisses, hold hands in public places to make her feel special. This will go a long way to strengthen your relationship.

Celebrities / Beyonce & Jay-z Are Fighting Kim Kardashian & Kanye West. See Shocking Reason by crownbless96(f): 7:10pm On Oct 10, 2018
Showbiz power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z are not happy with their equally influential friends Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The power couple no longer want anything to do with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and her Paranoid rapper husband, according to a Tuesday report from RadarOnline.com.

The reason has to do with West’s public support of President Donald Trump and Kardashian’s visit to the Oval Office earlier this year. Beyonce, 37, and Jay, 48, are ‘sick’ of all the positive things West has said about Trump.
