ONELGA, is too volatile a place to be hijacking and handpicking elections candidates before the primaries of the party.

That somebody is the chairman of the party doesn't confer on him the power to singlehandedly handpick all counselors and chairman of his LGA.

If somebody did same to him when he was rising politically, he would have cried out for oppression and injustice.

The truth is that the duo of PDP Chairman in collusion with the estranged brother of the counsellorship candidate, Uche Nnam Obi, are afraid of the force which the young aspirant, Obi Michael Nnamdi, pulled today, hence they couldn't even appear to address the people or present their candidate, but claimed they had disqualified him.

How do you disqualify somebody whom you screened and certified? This is nothing but a charade, a mockery and rape of Democratic ideals.

Observers have it on record, that the OMN GROUP, as the massive supporters of the aspirant are recognized, may mark the birth of a strong political force in ONELGA, which if not handled carefully, may play into the hands of desperate opposition party.

Videos are available to buttress their position, that no primaries were conducted in their ward, not even a visit by any party official despite the teeming numbers of electorate waiting from 8 am to 4pm.

Yet it had been announced severally by the State governor, Chief Ezebunwu Nyesom Wike that there shall be no imposition of candidates on the people in the party primaries of the PDP in Rivers State.

Now that the fraudulent deed is done, it is only fair that the party reaches out to the young man and his group and treat this matter with the urgency which it requires.

Granted there has been widespread claims of imposition of candidates on virtually all LGAs of Rivers State, but that of ONELGA ward 16 ought to be an exception going by it's sensitive nature and of the forces involved. A Popular Prince versus a lordly Party Chairman.

We can only wish for peace in the days ahead, but with this dracolian and suppressive style of leadership by the party chairman who prefers to impose members of his GO-GROUND Community on the LGA, there is no guarantee that the fragile peace in ONELGA may truly last.

I suspect, if not properly addressed, their may be pandemonium because of this political imprisonment of the youths beginning with this prince.

Your post is nice but from the reactions it is generating, i wonder what the motive for writing it is. Granted the Igbos are die hard, cut throat capitalist by nature, very enterprising and entrepreneurial in disposition, but that is not the high point of human values.

Necessity, they say, is the mother of invention. You become what you give yourself to, sometimes in adapting to your sociology-economic environment . As a growing child, i did not see a Rivers man open a supermarket. If he did, to maintain it, he would require hiring an igbo boy with experience, who will diligently work at the job. Today several Rivers men own supermarkets which they manage by themselves with Rivers boys and Girls. Taking of consistency and perseverance, the Igbos have it. but more as a was a survival mechanism.

The Ikwerre chap may Just get millions from the sale of a land he did not even know exist, so he settles down to a sedentary, I don't care lifestyle.
some other Rivers boys get easy money banding together and harassing multinationals in their host communities.
That does not mean if circumstances were different , they would not be in business and perhaps survive. So what we become is also predicated on the kind of socioeconomic enviroment that we find ourselves.

Dangote himself or any other tribe most likely will have something that makes him or them unique in their own way and ensures their success.

You do have a point. We have a division of labour that some dim witted youths don't seem to realize. By some unwritten script, every tribe in this nation has positioned themselves in the areas of their relative strengths. The Yorubas seem to run corporate Nigeria, The Hausas, Military Nigeria, The Igbos Commercial Nigeria. If an Hausa man comes boasting that that he is the best trained militarily or agriculturally, will you dispute it? or if the Yorubas claim to own the biggest churches, universities and professorship in Nigeria and over seas, will any right thinking ethnic champion dispute it? It is needless placing one tribe above the other.Lets argue for our strengths and not things that will pitch us against each other. Its ethnicity, its tribalism, and its the stock and trade of small minded people.

we need John C. Maxwell to drill our socalled leaders on the true meaning of leadership.
