Holding your leaders accountable has nothing to do with law suits
For example, the first question is very simple.
Where did he serve and it what year?
Several Nigerian leaders have been held accountable in recent times concerning their NYSC.
A Finance minister resigned because of NYSC
An APC governorship aspirant and current minster of communication was yanked off primaries because of NYSC
Who is the lazy Nigerian youth, the one that asks questions and demand accountability from leaders, or the ones that keep quiet and form voltron for their ethnic champions?
mrhowoto:
Has anyone sued him in court on the basis of the questions you trumped up. If not kindly remain silent.

8 Questions Peter Obi Must Answer

The Vice Presidential debate has further strengthened what we know about PDP's Vice Presidential candidate, Peter Obi. His half-truths and misleading exaggerations have once again been brought to the fore.

There are many things that are unclear, for which Nigerians demand answers:

1. Where did Obi serve under NYSC and in what year?

2. Obi's resume is silent on his early employment history. Where did he work before he became the chairman of Next International?

3. Who funded the acquisition of Obi's house in London just 3 years after graduating from school...Next International or Obi?

4. How much did Obi earn between 1984- 1987 to afford a posh property in London?

5. Is there any truth to the allegation that Obi's business deals in Brazil in the late 1980s involved illicit drugs?

6. How much taxes did Obi & Next International pay between 1984 and 1987 or was Obi & his company exempted from Tax?

7. Why did Obi hide his ownership of flats in Ikoyi & London? Is he hiding the source of funds?

8. How many shares did Obi assign to his company, Next International when he invested Anambra's money in Intafact Beverages

Politics / The Horrible Legacy Of PDP: Nigeria Loses $6 Billion In Corrupt Oil Deal by cute9ja: 1:15pm On Nov 26, 2018
Nigeria will lose an estimated $6 billion in revenue to international oil companies, Shell and Eni, over the deal on the controversial oil block, widely known as Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245.

icirnigeria.org reported the new findings quoting a report by Global Witness called Take The Future.

According to icir.org, leaked emails and confidential documents also showed that the oil giants might have used unethical means to secure the deal as they altered earlier terms on the oil block with the intention of depriving Nigeria billions of dollars of future revenue while raking in huge profits.

The report draws on an analysis from leading experts at Resources for Development Consulting commissioned by Global Witness and NGOs HEDA, RE:Common and The Corner House.

Two weeks before the deal was signed in 2011, Andrew Obaje, then Director of Department of Petroleum Resources advised the Federal Government not to accept the deal because it was bad.

Obaje’s advice was in response to Mohammed Adoke, the then Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Federation who sought his comment on the agreement underpinning the disputed oil block.

Obaje concluded in the letter that “the resolution agreement as proposed is highly prejudicial to the interests of the Federal Government, more so when there is considerable leverage on the part of the FGN irrespective of the outcome of the arbitration. Government should therefore re-evaluate the proposal with a view to securing for the FGN a more advantageous outcome from any resolution of the matter.”

Rather than follow Obaje’s recommendation, the Federal Government went ahead to approve the deal that stripped it of earlier favourable terms.

The deal excluded Shell and Eni from paying royalty and Profit Oil on the OPL 245 which were part of the fiscal terms that were contained in the earlier contractual agreement with the oil companies in 2003 and 2005.

Assuming that oil price remains at $70 per barrel, Nigeria loses $5.86 billion projected revenue over the lifetime of the oil block when compared to earlier terms that had applied before the 2011 deal.

Barnaby Pace from Global Witness said “Shell and Eni execs set the deal up so that Nigeria would earn some $6bn less than it could have. This scandalous deal must be cancelled.”

Reacting to the analysis by Global Witness, Eni and Shell denied any wrongdoing. Erika Mandraffino, Eni’s Senior Vice President, Global Media Relations and Crisis Communication, questioned the methodology of the analysis.

“We note that Global Witness draws conclusions on the appropriateness of Eni’s and its partner’s transaction and on the legitimacy of Eni’s conduct by referring to analyses carried out by unnamed partners whose competence or expertise is not substantiated in your letter,” Mandraffino wrote

“We can understand that your organisation, which is not engaged in business activities in the oil and gas sector, may not be best placed to assess the input, methodology and overall quality of such analyses and come to incorrect conclusions. In this respect, let us just note that the technical and contractual assumptions adopted as basis for the analysis appear to be partial and inaccurate, if not misleading.”

The assessment of the impact of different fiscal terms for government revenues from OPL 245 was carried out by Resources for Development Consulting whose responsibility is to assist resource-rich countries in securing a fair share of mining, oil, and gas revenues by analysing fiscal regimes, preparing revenue forecasts, assessing vulnerability to tax avoidance, and supporting cost monitoring and auditing.

To do the analysis, Resources for Development Consulting pointed out that it used discounted cash flow modelling which is an industry-standard methodology used for valuation by oil companies and for revenue forecasting by governments.

“The field data contained in this analysis comes predominantly from the companies themselves: Shell and Eni. The basic field data comes from a 2006 Valuation document prepared by Shell in support of arbitration proceedings. This data has been updated based on information from subsequent Shell reports and information published by Eni in 2011 as well as public domain sources from analogous blocks in neighbouring countries.” the consulting firm wrote in its report.

It is inexplicable how Mohammed Adoke, then Attorney General of the Federation led the Federal Government to agree to the deal that altered the terms of the agreement in favour of the oil companies against the position of Department of Petroleum Resources.

In response to the analysis’ findings, Adoke stressed that the deal was concluded following consultations with relevant ministries, adding that no attempt was made to prevent civil servants from voicing their concerns.

He said the issues were resolved following inter-ministerial discussions. He said that the production sharing agreement between Shell and Eni was not within his remit.

The OPL 245, which covers nearly 2,000 square kilometres in the southern edge of the Niger Delta in water depths of more than 1,200 meters, was first allocated in 1998.

The then Minister of Petroleum, Dan Etete allocated the oil block to Malabu Oil and Gas Limited, an indigenous company owned by him.

In 2001, Malabu offered Shell 40 per cent stake in the oil block. However, Malabu’s licence was later revoked by the Federal Government. The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) later offered the block for bid which Shell won.

The NNPC in 2003 signed a production sharing contract (PSC) with Shell on the oil block. But Malabu went to court to restore its ownership of the oil block. Malabu’s right to the oil block was restored in 2006 by the court.

Then Shell disagreed on the restoration of the oil block to Malabu and in 2007 instituted proceedings against the Federal Government at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, seeking full restitution of its rights as set out in the 2003 production sharing agreement.

In 2011, a deal was reached for Shell and Eni to pay $1.1 billion to the Federal Government and Malabu to have full ownership of the oil block, a deal that has been trailed with bribery scandal.

Shell and Eni are currently facing bribery charges over the OPL 245 deal in a landmark trial in Italy, the first time a company as large as Shell or such senior executives of a major oil company have ever stood trial for bribery offences.

Eni’s current CEO Claudio Descalzi, and former Royal Dutch Shell Executive Director for Upstream, Malcolm Brinded CBE are facing charges of bribery and corruption over the oil block in the trial that began in Milan in September.

According to Global Witness, the case brought by the Milan Public Prosecutor alleges that $520 million from the deal was converted into cash and intended to be paid to then former President Goodluck Jonathan and other Nigerian government officials. The prosecutors further allege that money was also channelled to Eni and Shell executives, with $50 million in cash delivered to the home of Eni’s then head of African Operations Roberto Casula.

Two middlemen in the OPL 245 deal have already been sentenced to four years imprisonment, as well as confiscations of over €100 million by the Italian court. The offenders, Emeka Obi (Nigerian) and Gianluca Di Nardo (Italian) were found guilty of corrupt offences over the oil block.

Foreign Affairs / Trump Gives Himself New Nickname - “president T” by cute9ja: 9:44am On Nov 26, 2018
President Donald Trump now has a new cognomen: He is now simply ‘President T’.

He gave himself the nickname in a tweet on Sunday, in which he also praised himself for the falling oil prices.

Trump likened the recent drop in oil prices to “a big Tax Cut.”

“So great that oil prices are falling (thank you President T),” the president wrote. “Add that, which is like a big Tax Cut, to our other good Economic news. Inflation down (are you listening Fed)!”, he wrote.

The tweet comes days after Trump thanked Saudi Arabia for falling oil prices and urged: “Let’s go lower!”

Last week, Trump reaffirmed the U.S.-Saudi relationship despite the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The president declined to criticise Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for Khashoggi’s death, despite intelligence reports that the crown prince likely ordered the assassination inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Trump has indicated that issuing sanctions or punishing Saudi Arabia over Khashoggi would result in a spike in oil prices.

“If you want to see oil prices go to $150 a barrel … all you have to do is break up our relationship with Saudi Arabia,” he said last week.

Saudi Arabia is the third-highest global producer of oil.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Trump has been expressing dissatisfaction with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for backing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and for recent volatility in the stock market.

The president has publicly sounded off on Powell’s decision to raise federal interest rates, claiming that it has endangering the country’s economic growth.

Trump in an October interview called the Fed his “biggest threat” and suggested that he may have made a mistake appointing Powell.

Politics / 2019: Do Real Campaign, Don’t Beg, Lie Or Insult – Buhari by cute9ja: 6:45am On Nov 26, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has directed candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to embark on real campaign and not to beg, insult and force voters.

He advised them to base their campaigns on issues ahead of the 2019 elections, Sen. Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, has said.

At a service in Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Ibiaku Parish in Ibiono, Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom on Sunday, he said APC-led government would do real campaign without rancour or politics of bitterness during its campaign in the country.

“Let us go and do real campaign, speaking clean words, marketing what we have done, saying what we will do, saying what we have done and saying what we will do.

“We are not going to beat people to vote for us, we are going to beg people to vote for us.

“We will not tell lies of what we have not done but tell the people what we have done so that they can judge us in the elections,” he said.

Enang reassured the people that there would be no violence in the 2019 general elections, saying that the people should go out enmass and vote for candidates of their choice.

“There will be no violence in 2019 general elections, we should listen to values and virtues of each of the candidates and political parties and vote according to our judgement.

“The APC-led government has requested that they should vote candidates in all the elections,” Enang said.

He restated that APC government had sustained peace and development in the country.

Enang said that President Buhari was not religiously bias but a lover of peace and unity.

Also, Mr Edet Ikotidem, candidate of APC, Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in 2019 general elections, said he was in the church to seek God directive and to commit his campaign project to God.

He said that his ambition was not for selfish quest to amass public resources but burning desire to provide reasonable service through novel leadership schemes.

“I started my journey with God and I will not complete my journey except I consecrate myself to God,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress has told the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, that Nigerians won’t vote a fugitive in the 2019 general elections.

It challenged the former Vice President to clear himself of the alleged travel ban placed on him by the United States of America.

Accusing the PDP of failed attempts to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari, the APC said it was clear that the party was no credible opposition political party, but a gang of selfish and mercantile politicians that will do anything to return to elective office.

The party in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, on Sunday in Abuja accused Atiku and other PDP leaders of promising to sell some national assets including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation as payback to some foreign financiers.

“The unwillingness of PDP governors to financially support the 2019 Presidential campaign of Alh. Atiku Abubakar is already public knowledge. Infact, information is now rife that the Dubai meeting attended by Atiku and other PDP leaders was a last-ditch effort to raise presidential campaign cash from foreign financiers by mortgaging key national economic assets particularly the NNPC as payback.

“This disturbing development must be checked by relevant agencies particularly the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, the country’s arm of the global financial intelligence Units mandated to collect information on suspicious or unusual financial activity suspected of being money laundering and then share such information with relevant anti-crime or regulatory agencies.

“Again, a challenge the PDP presidential candidate, Alh. Atiku Abubakar must take up is coming clean on the nagging issue of his travel ban to the United States of America following his indictment for corruption in that country.

“To borrow the words of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, we must stop electing rogues, hooligans and criminals into public office. Truly, we cannot have a fugitive occupying the highest office in the country. Our great country, Nigeria deserves better.”

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, again on Friday, aimed a dig at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, accusing it of pilfering the State’s resources.

Osinbajo, who spoke in Enugu where he commissioned the campaign office of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the State, Senator Ayogu Eze, said the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was different from any other government in the country.

He declared: “The difference between us and any other government in this country is that we will not steal money meant for the people.”

The Vice President maintained that the President Buhari government was totally committed towards the development of the South-East, stressing that “there is no favour that anybody can do to the Southeast.”

“It is a right, it is your right to have good governance, it is your right to have federal presence,” he further stated, adding that the zone must be fairly treated.

On what the APC-led government was doing for the Southeast, he said President Buhari had been fair to the zone.

“Today in our country, we have five ministers from the Southeast, not ministers of states, they are all senior ministers. In fact, in President’s own state, we have a minister of state.

“The President is committed to the development of the Southeast that is why the Second Niger Bridge and the roads, like the Enugu-Porthacourt are being given attention by this government,” he said.

Osinbajo noted that while the PDP government merely awarded contracts and did nothing on the critical projects, the President Buhari led government was doing quality works on the projects in the zone.

“There is no project concerning the Southeast that will not be done and done well,” he assured.

He appealed to the people of the zone to continue to support the party, expressing hope that with the quality of leaders in the Enugu APC, the party would record victory.

Earlier, the party’s guber candidate, Senator Eze lauded President Buhari’s policy for his second term bid, termed ‘Next Level.’

He said issues of job creation, political inclusion, among others, “form part of what we plan to do here in Enugu.”

He dismissed claims by a section of Ndigbo that Buhari hated the people, stressing that the same people spreading the lies gathered and endorsed PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

While telling Buhari not to be perturbed about the endorsement, Eze said such decision would only be meaningful if the entire Ndigbo sit in a council and take a stand as they were not in a single political party.
