Politics / Aisha Buhari Makes U-turn, Drums Support For Her Husband by cute9ja: 10:54pm On Oct 27, 2016 |
President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, Aisha, on Thursday made a u-turn following her controversial BBC interview where she expressed her dissatisfaction about the APC led government, she even went as far as saying she will not support her husband in 2019. However Mrs Buhari on Thursday reassured Nigerians that she was committed to the success of her husband’s administration. In her first public comment since the furore ignited by her criticism of her husband’s administration in an interview she granted the BBC Hausa Service, Mrs. Buhari said she was relieved that the administration had started to fulfill some of the promises the president made during the electioneering campaigns. Mrs. Buhari spoke when she paid a visit to Benisheik, one of the liberated towns of Borno State, to flag off the distribution of relief items to displaced rural women. She made the gesture under the Get Involved initiative, a sub-component of her pet project, Future Assured. The initiative seeks to harness donations from individuals and organisations for the support of victims of violence. The president’s wife told the gathering that she was committed to seeing her husband succeed as president of Nigeria. In the BBC interview, Mrs. Buhari had criticised her husband for allegedly sidelining his long-term loyalists and political associates. She also vowed not to support his bid for reelection unless he quickly corrected the perceived anomaly. The president’s public response suggesting his wife had no business expressing views on his government, and that she belonged in the kitchen, further stoked the controversy. But Mrs. Buhari appeared to have put the controversy behind her on Thursday as she flew into the North-east state, worst affected by the Boko Haram insurgency. Mrs. Buhari, who arrived the Maiduguri International Airport at about noon in the company of wives of service chiefs and political party women leaders, was received by the wife of Borno State governor, Nana Shettima. From the airport she and her team were flown in a Nigerian Airforce Agusta-105 combat chopper to Kaga, headquarters of Kaga local government area of the state. Awaiting her in the town was a delegation of Borno State government officials led by Governor Kashim Shettima. Addressing the gathering in Kaga, Mrs. Buhari said she was happy that her husband’s government had begun to fulfill campaign promises to Nigerians, and “especially to the distressed people of Borno state”. She said: “On our campaign promises to Nigerians, especially to the people of Borno State, we thank Almighty Allah for giving us the opportunity of beginning to fulfill these promises. “That is the essence of being a good leader; when you promise, you try to fulfill your promises. “That is what we are all after. And what I am after in particular is the success of my husband’s administration. And we can’t do it alone, except with the help of the governors, their wives and members of our progressive party and all Nigerians.” Mrs. Buhari said the distribution of relief items was part of her Get Involved project, which she hopes to carry on in the state through a committee led by the wife of the state governor. “As you are all aware, some weeks ago, I had launched a component of my programme, Future Assured, known as Get Involved, which is aimed at bringing all Nigerians together; and it has integrated and united the people of Nigeria. “The launching of Future Assured has consolidated and united the people of Nigeria. The relief items you are seeing today were received from well-meaning Nigerians who sent their regards and congratulatory messages. “It is on that note that I am here today to flag off the distribution of the food items donated by well-meaning Nigerians from across the country. I thank all Nigerians for this support for the people of Borno State.” Earlier, the Borno state governor and his wife commended Mrs. Buhari for making regular visits to Borno State. Mrs. Shettima noted that Thursday’s visit was the third since her husband assumed the presidency of Nigeria in May 2015. Governor Shettima said Kaga town was totally destroyed and sacked by Boko Haram insurgents, until it was liberated with the coming of the administration of President Buhari. “Two years ago it would have been impossible for us to hold this kind of high-level occasion here; our security forces would never have allowed us for fear of the unknown,” the governor said. “But today we are here under an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, and this is the situation that is prevailing in most parts of Borno state. “We want to thank our mother, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, who has shown so much love and affection to Borno State. This is not her first time of coming to Borno. And this time she even ventured to visit the hinterland to see how our people are faring and to show empathy and support to the people of Kaga local government. “We are mightily proud of her; we are eternally indebted to her and insha Allah (by God’s grace), in the fullness of time when the history of this epoch is going to be written, her name will be written in gold. “You are indeed a proud daughter of the North-east and you have played a pivotal role in the passage of the bill establishing the North-east Development Commission. And it is pertinent to mention that you are of Borno by extraction. “We want to thank you and all members of your delegation, especially eminent persons like Dame Pauline Tallen, former deputy governor of Plateau State, who has been with Her Excellency, wife of the president, each time she visits Borno and other places in Nigeria.” SOURCE: http://www.nigerianeye.com/2016/10/aisha-buhari-makes-u-turn-drums-support.html

Politics / BREAKING NEWS: Buhari Suspends Chief Of Staff, Abba Kyari by cute9ja: 3:08pm On Oct 27, 2016 |
Exclusive reports reaching NigerianEye has it that the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Abba Kyari who is under investigation by the Special Investigation Panel of the Nigerian Police Force over bribery allegations was today suspended by President Buhari. NigerianEye recalls that the NCC, Nigeria’s telecoms regulator, slammed a $5 billion fine on MTN for failing to disconnect subscribers with unregistered phone lines bought before January 2012. Following the frustrations of the telecommunications giant’s bid to fight the huge fine imposition, firstly through the courts and later through diplomatic means, Sahara Reporters published a report on 20th September 2016, stating that officials of MTN gave a bribe of N500million to Alhaji Abba Kyari, to intervene and use his closeness to President Buhari, to influence the federal government to give MTN a safe landing. Celebrities / BREAKING NEWS: Legendary Musical Genius, Prince Is Dead by cute9ja: 6:52pm On Apr 21, 2016 |
Prince died earlier today (April 21) at age 57 at his Paisley Park home and studio, his publicist confirmed to the Associated Press. TMZ first reported the news. Prince was hospitalized last week after his plane for was forced to make an emergency landing in Moline, Ill. Released a few hours later, a rep told TMZ that he had been battling a bad case of the flu. One of the most iconic musicians in music history, Prince's extensive career grew out of the music scene of his native Minneapolis, where he lived his entire life. His 1978 debut album For You and self-titled second LP, released in October 1979, kicked off an incredibly prolific run of albums that included 1999, Purple Rain, Around The World In A Day, Sign O The Times and Batman, among others, throughout the 1980s at a clip of nearly one per year, evolving with each release. It was 1984's Purple Rain -- his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 -- released in conjunction with the film of the same name, that cemented him as one of the greatest artists of his generation, earning him two Grammys, and Oscar and a victory over Michael Jackson's Thriller for Favorite Pop/Rock Album at the 1985 American Music Awards. Along the way, he worked with several bands under a series of pseudonyms, including The Time, the New Power Generation and The Revolution, as both frontman and producer. Prince was also known for his eponymous Love Symbol, created in protest against his longtime record label Warner Bros., under which he released an album in 1992. His 18th and final album for the label, 1996's Chaos and Disorder, finally released him from his contract. As a recording artist, Prince was legendary for his prolific and perfectionist nature which allowed him to release a steady slew of material as he experimented in the studio; as a result, unreleased b-sides and bootlegs have become highly sought-after collectibles for die-hard fans, and his infamous "vault" of recordings has become the stuff of legend. Yet he was also truly transcendent as a performer, regularly stretching his shows beyond the three-hour mark and showcasing his stunning guitar work, which became an underrated part of his legacy, often overshadowed by his iconic singing voice and abilities as a songwriter and bandleader. Over his 35-plus-year career, he released 39 solo studio albums and never stopped releasing new material; since September 2014, he put out four new full-length records with his latest band, 3rd Eye Girl, continuously experimenting with psychedelic rock and intergalactic funk. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2016/04/breaking-legendary-musical-genius.html

Politics / I'm The Target Of Buhari’s Administration - Fayose by cute9ja: 8:32pm On Apr 03, 2016 |
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, on Sunday identified himself as a target of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for what he linked to his unrelenting criticism of the President’s policies. He added that the realisation made him to be cautious of his dealings in office. The governor, who spoke during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos, noted that he had started the construction of a flyover in Ado/Ikere Road for N5.7bn and invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to be part of the project from the outset. Fayose said, “I have started the construction of a flyover in Ado/Ikere Road for N5.7bn. I have also invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to be part of it, because I know I am a target of the current administration. “You may not like my face or my style. But take the message and leave the messenger. If they have anything against me, they would have published it I know. I prepare for my defence. I am fully prepared. “Criticising the President should not make an enemy. We will sue the government. We learnt this from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He is always in court either by proxy or direct. You cannot keep arresting my principal officers and members of my state House of Assembly.” The governor also urged the President to devalue the naira without further delay, adding that he blamed him for the current economic woes in the country. “The All Progressives Congress deceived us. They manipulated us. I blame the current economic woes in Nigeria on the President. No matter the past economic situation of a country, a good manager would have been able to normalise the situation. The way things are going in Nigeria, the economy may shut down soon,” he stated. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2016/04/im-target-of-buharis-administration.html 3 Likes

Celebrities / Drama As Olamide And Don Jazzy Fight Eachother At Headies Awards by cute9ja: 4:04am On Jan 02, 2016 |
It was a very dramatic award ceremony at the 2015 Headies held in the early hours of today, 2nd of January 2016 as two of the biggest names in the Nigerian music industry Don Jazzy and Olamide openly threw harsh words at each other over the outcome of the much converted “Next Rated Award”. The Next Rated Award which is arguably the biggest award of the night comes with a lot of recognition (and the bonus of a brand Hyundai Car). The favorite for the award Lil Kesh (Signed under Olamide's YBNL record) surprisingly failed to win the award as it went to Mavin artist Reekado Banks. Apparently this angered Olamide so he stormed unto the stage when Adekunle Gold (Another YBNL artiste) received his award for Best Contemporary artiste alongside the whole YBNL crew, Olamide snatched the microphone from Adekunle Gold and angrily blasted Headies saying the award should have gone to Lil Kesh as he had back to back hit songs all year round. Olamide stated “Iyalaya anybody” and flipped off the whole hall before dumping the microphone on the stage and storming off the venue with his crew. Just when we thought things had ended, Don Jazzy was given a Special Recognition award and in his speech he stated that he has never liked awards and the only reason he came for the show was to support his “children”. He also stated that he had told Reekado Banks and Korede Bello (who were both nominated for Next Rated) that he’d buy cars for them. Don Jazzy ended the night with a bombshell saying “Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it”. He and the Mavin artists also angrily left the venue. Olamide was not even present to receive his 'Artiste of the year' award. 2016 is surely going to be very intresting. The beef is on OLAMIDE vs DON JAZZY http://www.nigerianeye.com/2016/01/drama-as-olamide-and-don-jazzy-fight.html

As a little kid, i remember a present state governor who was broke and jobless and he came to our house for financial assistance. Few years later, he became commissioner for works and housing, and now a governor, and my dad is late, died at 45. Moral of the story: Life is full of ups and downs, when there is life, there is hope |
