sulaak:

GEJ was equally as bad as Buhari. Didn't GEJ complete the sales of the Disco and Genco to cronies

You need to go check your facts before you start dragging GEJ into what doesn't concern him.

Unbundling of PHCN/NEPA into Gencos, Discos and TCN was started and reached advanced stage by Obasanjo administration, before Yar'adua Inherited it. Gencos and Discos where privatised while government retained TCN which manages the national grid infrastructure because it is used by all Discos and due to it's strategic national interest.

El-Rufai the DG of Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) which oversaw the exercise and managed the entire process, and the entire privatisation of public corporations was under the purview of VP Atiku Abubakar. This is why El-Rufai can boast and raise shoulder about having deep knowledge of how to solve Nigeria's power problems, and wanted to use that to warm his way into Tinubu's cabinet.

TCPC which was the forerunner of BPE was set up by IBB as far back as 1988, and was headed by Hamza Zayyad.
So if you want to accuse someone of selling Discos and Gencos to cronies, that person is Mallam El-Rufai. Leave GEJ out of it.

Even Dangote wanted to buy the problematic refineries, but the government of Yar'adua stopped the sale of refineries.

In any case, some of the people who bought the Discos are Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar and Tony Elumelu. I hope you know whose cronies these people are?

Many people will not read the write up.

The write up says Tanzania still suffers chronic power shortage.

Did you yourself read the write up at all. This is the last paragraph. Read it again:

"It is the first time Tanzania, which suffers chronic power shortages, has closed hydroelectric stations as a result of excess production."

They used to experience chronic outage.
They now produce excess.

President Goodluck Jonathan built almajiri schools, bought uniforms and books for thier children free of charge so they can be educated. The same Northern Elites led by the likes of current VP Shetttima, Sultan and Buhari vehemently discouraged thier children from attending those schools.

Now the Sultan is lamenting that thier children are taking to kidnapping due to lack of education. Are these normal at all?

They must eat this toxic soup they have been cooking for decades since Lord Lugard created this contraption called Nigeria. Day just the break, and they are complaining.

Mvnster:
Give children proper education so they would be useful to the society tomorrow, no we prefer almajiri life.

The Save Nigeria Group (SNG), with the opposition parties spearheaded by Tinubu himself, frustrated Goodluck Jonathan by sponsoring protests against the Goodluck Jonathan government. The hallmark of it all was the 2012 subsidy removal protests.

The website Vinsols dot com does an excellent job of helping you check the history of your. Just put in your VIN number or car chassis number and get the full report sent to your email.

No more lies from car dealers.

They are running AFCON promo now on Twitter @vinsols1

travelinfo:
it's quite unfortunate that unemployment has turned many people to overnight car dealer dishing out lies to members of public

Many of such lies includes;

โœ“ This car has low mileage but when you eventually see the car in real life, it will have mileage of over 250k

โœ“ Claim theres nothing to be fixed on the car but when you see the car & test drive it then you will realize there's lots of work to do on the vehicle

โœ“ The biggest of these lies is that vehicle was registered less than 6months or 3months but when you check the number plate, it shows car registered over 3years

โœ“ Another lies is that owner doesn't drive it much because he's out of town, owner has travelled out, owner is based abroad etc

please stop dishing out lies to brand your cars as super neat, most of the time you are wasting customers time & destroying your reputation at the same time

MY ADVICE TO BUYERS
When you are buying Tokunbo or naija used cars, ensure that you check the vehicle thoroughly and dont rely on word of mouth from dealer/marketer

If you are buying a Nigerian used car, ensure that you bargain very well & never listen to any dealer claiming that owner hardly uses the vehicle or owner is based abroad, vehicle was used by female banker etc, its all lies to cheat you and sell the car to you at expensive price

You mention all these ones, but you conveniently forgot to mention the following:

* Sadiya Umar-Farouk former minister in the same ministry who stole billions (over N30 billion so far traced by EFCC to private accounts).

* Hadiza Bello Usman (NPA MD under Buhari) who set all procurement rules aside, and cleaned out billions.

For some strange reasons brazen stealing of public funds by Northern public office holders appears normal to some people.

Politics / Re: First Shipment Of Crude Arrives Dangote Refinery with 950,000 barrel by cuteboy2: 7:36pm On Dec 07, 2023
Hope you still remember Dangote has said many times his products will be sold at international market price (that is, same price like the imported one). He will not sell it at government subsidized price.

Dangote will set up a marketing company that will receive payments in US$ or ask petroleum marketers to buy in Naira at black market rate plus hefty premium to cover the cost of buying crude oil in US$.

Private companies are not charity organizations.

seunmsg:
To God be the glory. Hopefully, refined petroleum products from the refinery will ht the market by first week of January. This will give a very big boost to the economy and the foreign exchange crisis. Big shame on those haters of Nigeria who have been praying for the for the refinery not to work.

I really don't get your point. Are you saying this girl's marriage is not valid because no relative travelled to Nigeria to attend the wedding ceremony? Even if they connected via Zoom of social media live feed?

Besides, I find your sweeping assertions in the bolded very preposterous. I lived in continental Europe as well for many years in a country next door to Denmark, and I can say those sweeping conclusions are not true.

When you say "everyone comes ", are you referring to all family members and all friends? If so, do you have hard statistical records to prove this?

This sounds more like motor park or beer parlour assertion.

MrBrownJay1:

NOBODY in Norway gets married and there is nobody from their family attending... not even a friend. although today, young people in Norway/Scandinavia dont believe in marriage any longer, when they do decide to get hitched, everyone comes along

i should know about the above, as i used to live a total of 7yrs in Norway and Denmark
also, yes many now come to Africa to find young fit men to marry (Gambia was their preferred country in the past but now west Africa and Kenya is taking over)

It's not like in 9ja that family will sow Aso ebi and hire 10 ten danfo buses to bring everyone from village to come and chop jollof rice, and pack extra in polythene bags to take back home.

The hard work of taking steps to clean up the suffocating multiple taxation system, carrying out updated geological surveys, checking the festering corruption in cadastral licencing in ministry of mines, putting in place investor friendly regulations governing minerals processing and beneficiation, chasing away the illegal mining and stealing of minerals backed by powerful Nigerians, etc has to be done by Fed Government ,NASENI, Ministry of Mines, etc, before any serious investor will come into the country
Business / Re: Michael Ibruโ€™s Service Of Songs In Lagos (Photos) by cuteboy2: 12:28am On Jul 19, 2023
Your clearly missed the point of my original post, which is that these prominent Delta sons do not invest in their State, and do not use their commanding heights in banking, industry, media, etc to attract businesses and investments to Delta State. Though, the state has been very unfortunate to have a string of some of the worst civilian governors in Nigeria, from Ibru, Ibori, Uduaghan, to Okowa. Ibori was a bit better.

My post had nothing to do with Deltans having opportunity to work in their organizations. Afterall, Tony Elumelu and Jim Ovia have tried to ensure CEOs of their banks are Deltans. But we are talking of either establishing businesses back home the way Nnewi and Abriba rich men do and also using their influence to pull investments into Delta State.

I know for a fact that Ibru family brewery which was called Superbru built 33 brewery in their hometown Agbara-Otor. Though now moribund. I pass through Agbara-Otor to Ughelli so I do see the dilapidated factory.

You could have said what you said in paragraph 1, without the insult in paragraph 2 and reference to age. Another typical African disease which equates age and position with knowledge.

Thank you for the age compliment (or insult), but I'm not under 30.

ChidiKalu:
The Ibru Organization still employs thousands of people. A few deltans who worked with the Ibru Organization in the 60s/70s subsequently branched out and became billionaires in their own right (eg. Chief Nuel Ojei), others became millionaires. Olorogun lifted atleast two generations of deltans (especially the Urhobos) out of poverty into the middle class strata.

I think you are very ignorant on this topic, and I am guessing you are under 30 โ€” so I wouldn't expect you to know much about the Ibru Dynasty, although under-30 folks who are good students of history would know a thing or two about Olorogun. Sit down and pick up a book!!

Very gripping adventure. I applaud your resilience.

Just 1 question. Do you buy the soya beans to export or for local processing?

Can you also source cashew nut?

maureensylvia:
A lot of experiences I'll share on this thread
I'll start with this one

Please read and digest with maturity

One fateful Saturday morning during the month of November, as early as 5:30am, I was dressed up to go to the village market to source and buy soyabeans for my client

it's a 3 hour journey, I supposed to be in the market latest 8am to source for the Soyabeans. I selected two of my boys to go with me. it was a smooth ride I must say, past 8am we were already in the market...

Majority of the sellers were not yet in the market, I got a bench and sat down while waiting for them to come. My two boys went to drink Shai at Mai shai stand... Shai is Tea. Mai shai is Tea seller

Past 9am there was no signs of the soyabeans sellers... I put on my "Patience" Jacket ๐Ÿ˜„

I was already hungry but I didn't want to eat what I saw there. I yawned and yawned no be person tell me to go to the Aboki Mai shai stand to request for a plate of noodles...

My goodness!!! the noodles was tasteless!

I managed to eat only the eggs that was spicy.

Around 10am they started coming. Atlast !! I exclaimed.
But there was a development... the soyabeans I was seeing there was not up to the grade I wanted. soyabeans differs and I wanted the best grade.

After a short while I saw the grade I was looking for but the quantity was so small as I needed a trailer of soyabeans.

I made up my mind to go and come back in the next market day but my boys suggested we go to another market that's more bigger than the one we came to.

After much deliberation, I gave in.

Me: How long will it take us to get there
My boy: In few hours we'll be there
Me: It's alright, let's go.

We left the bush market past 10am boarded a taxi and that's it...
11am we're still on the road!

Me: Haba we never reach๐Ÿง
My boy: no ma, we will soon. reach

Me: ok ooo

Few mins later the taxi dropped us, I looked around I was seeing only bushes no market. Hiannn Sule this is not market na.

He told me here ends where motor can go the rest of the journey will be on bike

whaaat!!! I exclaimed

My boy: Don't worry ma we will soon reach

Me: ok ooooo๐Ÿค”
