I have a friend who dropped out of a uni in Nigeria because he is too intelligent to be schooled by Nigeria's applauding educational system. He went to a technical school for an IT course in the U.S.A and landed a job with a tech startup in bay area California (Silicon Valley), today he earns about $100k per annum. Of course, if he returns to Nigeria, he will be tagged an illiterate, why? over a worthless piece of paper that can be bought in Nigeria (literally), but in a developed country he's regarded a man of intellect. Back then in school I once had a heating argument with the most intelligent boys in my class, over an incredibly stupid statement. "Airplanes fly with black magic and demons make them fly", believe it or not, there are idiots like this with a first class in Nigeria, graduates who think javascript codes are spells or mathematics, graduates who think it's right for a military man to slap you for answering a phone call at a military checkpoint. You need a man who values education, but a degree? I'm not sure you know the difference.
