Not even a month has passed since the release of the Apple iPhone 7 and the iOS 10. And, a 19-year-old hacker, known as qwertyoruiop, has managed to jailbreak the iPhone 7 in just 24 hours. He tweeted the screenshot evidence of the jailbreak. However, he won’t be disclosing the jailbreak process until Apple releases the relevant patches. Jailbreaking iPhones has been there since the time of the original iPhone. In 2007, George Hotz (Geohot), an American hacker jailbroke the original iPhone. His motivation was to remove carrier restrictions from the device. Nowadays, you don’t have to be a hacker to jailbreak your iOS device. We have advanced, easy-to-use and completely untethered jailbreaks. Luca Todesco (qwertyoruiop), has managed to jailbreak the new iPhone 7. It took him around 24 hours to exploit some bugs and vulnerabilities in the iOS 10 running on the iPhone 7. He was able to gain “root” privileges on the Apple device. obligatory cydia screenshot pic.twitter.com/peSF0kVNBh — qwertyoruiop (@qwertyoruiopz) “They definitely made my life harder,” he told Motherboard. “The iPhone 7 is a step in the right direction. Obviously, it’s not 100 percent secure—like nothing else is.” Todesco won’t be revealing how he jailbroke the iPhone 7 until Apple releases a patch for the vulnerabilities. He is planning to submit his finding in Apple’s bug bounty program. Till then, he will work on making the jailbreak smoother. It is believed that Todesco is the first person to have successfully jailbroken the iPhone 7 but other people will figure out the method soon. It’s possible, some people might’ve done that already but they haven’t revealed their findings. “I don’t but given his track record, I wouldn’t be surprised,” an Apple spokesperson said when asked if Apple knows whether Todesco’s jailbreak is legit. Todesco is not a first-time jailbreaker. He is a renowned and trusted name in the bug hunter community. In August, he jailbroke the iPhone 6S running iOS 9.3.4 and tweeted the image. — Via Motherboard https://fossbytes.com/just-24-hours-teen-hacker-jailbreaks-apple-iphone-7/ |

China had unveiled a prototype of a robotic crime fighter known as the AnBot at the Chongqing International Tech Fair this April. This was developed by the National Defense University to enhance the country’s anti-terrorism and anti-riot measures. Finally, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in Guangdong, southern China, which is one of China’s busiest airport, has introduced AnBot to one of its terminals to help with security checks and provide flight information. The droid will patrol the departure hall of terminal three of the airport, reports the People’s Daily Online. The idea of introducing the robot is to help relieve the pressure off airport police in their daily patrols and save human resources, said the official. AnBot can work around-the-clock and deter suspects with sound and light, and react to emergencies with an electric riot fork. The intelligent guard is 1.5 meters tall and weighs about 75 kg. It can move at a top speed of 11mph (18kph) and can even disarm people if they are deemed a threat. The security robot is equipped with four high-definition digital cameras, which it can use to snap pictures of travellers’ faces, and then send them immediately to human co-workers for further analysis. It is capable of autonomous patrols, intelligent monitoring and auto recharging. Xiao Xiangjiang of the National University of Defense Technology said: “It can patrol, avoid obstacles and then charge on its own.” Robots have been increasingly used in the service sectors such as senior care and domestic cleaning in China. http://www.techworm.net/2016/09/chinas-new-robocop-begins-patrolling-laced-facial-recognition-technology-taser.html

President Muhammadu Buhari, has on Wednesday, September 21, said that the Federal Government will invest substantial part of its foreign and local loans into the development of critical infrastructure. The President, stated that borrowed funds will be judiciously utilized to revive stalled Roads, Rail, Power, Port Projects, and in Agricultural Initiatives, that will significantly boost the domestic production of food, and end economic recession. Buhari disclosed this in an article published in Bloomberg International titled, ‘Making Africa Rising a Reality’. According to Buhari, the long old thinking about Africa as a continent with a promising potential, has given way to more questioning concerns. “Unlike in the past when borrowed funds were frittered away on unproductive ventures, we will ensure their investment in the revival of stalled road, rail, power and port projects, and in agricultural initiatives, that will significantly boost domestic production of food. “For far too long we have under-invested in infrastructure, the most critical element for creating sustainable economic growth. The net effect: an avoidably high cost of doing business in Nigeria,” he stressed. Buhari added: “We have begun raising a $1 billion Eurobond, our first in three years. We are also raising debt from the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Chinese Exim Bank, and other development finance partners.” The President, noted that since the signing of the 2016 budget into law, government has released about N400 billion for various infrastructure projects. The President, added that rather than lament on the current economic challenges, government will not be distracted. He challenged other African leaders, to see the fall in oil and commodities, as an opportunity to create new areas of wealth, that would guarantee the well being of citizens. “The journey ahead remains long and difficult. Our double-digit inflation, currency turmoil, and downgraded ratings will not vanish overnight. “But the real story here is not the challenges, which are all too visible, but the opportunities. We have learned the necessary lessons. We will ensure that Nigeria does not slip back into a lazy and dangerous dependence on the price of crude oil. “We will continue to insist on transparency and accountability in the use of government funds. And we will build an economy that prioritizes the ease of doing business and investing, and that thrives on the entrepreneurial energy and ingenuity of our people…. “The months ahead will show not only that Nigeria is on the rise, but that this “Rising” is real and lasting, one that touches not just the statistical databases, but the lives of the people who elected us to deliver positive change.” In a related development, the Federal Government will soon embark on wide ranging reforms, expected to provide a favourable environment for businesses in the country. Buhari, who disclosed this in New York, said Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo will soon make public the reform strategies, affecting the Nation’s Ports, and issues relating to visa on arrival. http://www.weeklypostng.org/2016/09/jubilation-as-buhari-ends-recession.html |
