Politics / Deborah's Killers Go Scot Free, School Resumes(Pic) by Cyynthia(f): 5:59pm On Aug 05, 2022
oto is set to resume another academic session less than three months after the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of the school.

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Deborah Samuel was stoned, flogged and burnt to death in the school after posting a message her Muslim colleagues considered blasphemous on her class WhatsApp group.

Shehu Shagari college of education

Meanwhile, in a circular released by the school management on Thursday, the students and staff were directed to resume on Monday, 8th of August, 2022.

The circular reads: "This is to inform all Students of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto that the College Governing Council has approved the Reopening of the College on Monday 8 August 2022.

"Students are requested to report to the College to sign an Undertaking at their various Schools after the payment of One Thousand Naira (N1000.00) only," the statement added.

SaharaReporters, however, gathered that the state government has not brought the killers to justice and is trying to bury the matter. Three months after the incident, no criminal charge has been initiated against the culprits.

The suspects paraded in court were those accused of causing unrest regarding the protest that happened within the metropolis after the killing in the school. They were not charged before the court for Deborah's murder.

"Those remanded in prison were arrested during the protest and we have declared the real perpetrators wanted and we have not been able to arrest them since then," the spokesperson for the state police command, Sanusi Abubakar confirmed to SaharaReporters in a telephone conversation on Friday that nobody had been arrested for the killing since Deborah's tragic death.

Sources also said some of the killers left Sokoto for Niger Republic after the incident, with the help of some people in government.

“Some of Deborah’s killers have fled to Niger Republic; some of them were not students. The truth is that the state government is not ready to do anything about Deborah’s death. The people who killed her were fighting for them (fanatics in government and political class).

“That was why there was never any mention of her killers. Right from time, the people security agencies went after were the people who rioted, which is why the charges are about causing public unrest. As far as Sokoto government is concerned, Deborah’s killing is dead and buried, the chapter has been closed,” a source close to the state government told SaharaReporters.

Another source said, “What we heard is that some of them are in Niger Republic. Despite that, the killing was recorded on video and there were so many people involved, the government and security agencies are not interested in prosecuting any of them. That is how it is; was she the first person to be killed for alleged blasphemy in the North? What has happened to any of the killers?

“Those arrested had nothing to do with what happened in the school, it was only about what happened outside. All of that was intentionally done to cover up for the killers. The rioters will receive a slap on the wrist and be released. After all the offence is not grave.”

SaharaReporters' investigation had earlier revealed that the Muslim mob that killed Deborah Samuel comprised students and some "foreigners” hired by the extremists to carry out the attack.

One of Deborah’s friends, identified only as Rakia, revealed the last words of Deborah Samuel before she was lynched by the mob of Muslim students for alleged blasphemy.

According to her, the deceased kept pleading, “What do you hope to achieve with this?”

She said Deborah was flogged, killed, and burnt, adding that it was the most horrible thing she (Rakia) had ever witnessed.

“Deborah was my course mate. I just stepped into the class when the uproar on her voice note started.

“It was her coursemates that started it. It all started with a debate on the upcoming examination on a general WhatsApp platform created for our coursemates. Two students from other departments who overheard some Muslim boys discussing the matter told Deborah’s close friends to prevail on her to retract the statement. But she replied via a voice note on the platform, “Holy Ghost fire. Nothing will happen to me.”

“We were made to understand that some young men were brought from outside (the campus) before the outrage. I was in class when some of our coursemates rushed in, saying “There is fire on the mountain o," she added.

Politics / Teenage Girl Commits Suicide In Kano Over Forced Marriage by Cyynthia(f): 5:50pm On Aug 05, 2022
en-year-old girl, Sadiya Usman has hanged herself at Garin Dauru village in the Warawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

It was learnt she allegedly committed suicide after she was allegedly forced into marriage.

The spokesman for the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed that the teenage girl hanged herself.

He said the police on August 1, 2022 “at about 3:00 received a phone call from the village Head of Garin Dauru town in Warawa Local Government that a girl hanged herself in her room”.

According to him, the girl made use of a piece of cloth and a wooden mortar to commit suicide.

He said she was immediately taken to Wudil General Hospital where she was confirmed dead, Daily Post reports.

The police however said an investigation was still ongoing to determine the reason why the teenage girl killed herself but the father of the deceased, Malam Usman, the father of the deceased said it is not true that her daughter committed suicide.

He said, “The report that the girl hanged herself because of forced marriage is not true, all I know is that my daughter is possessed by demons that used to disturb her from time to time.”

Cyynthia:
By Gabriel Olawale & James Ogunnaike

THE Ogun Baptist Conference, yesterday, rejected the adoption of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, describing it as a display of gross insensitivity to the complexity of Nigeria and the entire Church.

President of the Ogun Baptist Conference, Rev ‘Wale Oyeniyi, said this at a press conference to usher in the 45th Edition of Conference in Session to be held at First Baptist Church, ‘Laditan, Oja-Odan and hosted by Irepodun Oke-Yewa Baptist Association from 6th to 10th of August, 2022.

The conference, theme, ‘Christian Lifestyle: Attitude of Gratitude, will have over 500 Churches within Ogun State in 26 Baptist Associations in attendance.

Oyeniyi, while urging Christians in Nigeria not to vote for any religious – biased party, reminded them of the subtle political movement in Turkey and some Asian countries that subtly and successfully turned them into Muslim states today.

His words: “Those pushing for the Muslim-Muslim ticket don’t mean well for the country and the citizens. Those who say religion doesn’t matter are not saying the truth. In our current state in this country, religion matters so much because the last few years have witnessed heavy attacks on people of a particular religion. They include mass killings, kidnapping of clerics and other forms of attack. Religion matters a lot now
.

“I make bold to submit that there are competent hands in the Christian fold who can be entrusted with top political posts and who will make a whole lot of difference in governance with an attendant positive impact on the lives of the citizens of this country.

“Nigeria is in a hyper state of polarization. The country boils with inter-ethnic distrust and inter-religious discord. Consequently, the populace irrespective of location or region has been on edge for some time, their living space being devastated by unchecked terrorist acts by extremist Islamist groups and run-away violence by herdsmen. The overt nepotism of the number one citizen of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari, has exacerbated feelings of sectional injustice and marginalization.

“The selection of a Muslim running mate by the APC is a display of gross insensitivity to the complexity of modern Nigeria and the entire Church.

“It is a betrayal of the advocacy for unity and peaceful co-existence with our Muslim brothers including notables Imams who had forewarned the party and the candidate from travelling that treacherous route. The Christian community is aggrieved about the emergence of a Muslim from Northern Nigeria as the running mate of APC’s presidential candidate.

“The move by the APC in choosing a Muslim is a slap on the face of Christian faith. Secondly, desperation and over-ambition is noticed in the whole process: ‘We just want power at all costs and we don’t care what others think or do; we can win the elections without you, especially by other means other than by open ballot.

“No region can boast of winning the election without the support from other regions; also, no party should think that an election could be won by relying on the support of one religion in Nigeria.

“Furthermore, the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket is an indication of a hidden agenda. The APC has always come under the suspicion of the Church as pursuing an Islamisation agenda.

“The insinuation that Muslim-Muslim ticket thrived in 1993 and that the same can be considered now may be tenable if the country has not been so divided in line of ethnicity and religion as we have it today. The spirit of Hope 93 died with MKO and those who betrayed him and his mandate.”

Religion shouldn’t be a factor in moving Nigeria forward- Lawyers

But countering the Ogun Baptist Convention, lawyers under the umbrella of Lawyers Network for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, LANBAT, yesterday urged Nigerians not to place more emphasis on religion when issues of moving the country forward.

Speaking during the awareness and sensitization walk in Lagos, the lawyers, who spoke through their leader, Mr Dotun Ajulo said that religion has never had anything to do with Nigeria since its inception.

Ajulo said religion has been politicised, noting that the country would not have remained the same if the tenets of both religions have been strictly followed.

He recalled that it was the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu that restored formerly withheld missionary schools by the military administration.

His words: “Regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, Religion has never had anything to do in Nigeria. Anything about religion has been politics.

“We will not take you through the constitutional provisions about religion considering the secularity of Nigerians.

“If the Christians and Muslims have remained within the tenets of the scripture, the country will not be where it is today. The military administration withheld the missionary schools for Ansar’u deen but Tinubu came and restored

What has Osinbajo done despite being a Christian VP?

It was Tinubu who even nurtured Osinbajo to begin with. If Tinubu didn't discriminate against him and even brought him into limelight, then why is he discriminating against Tinubu?

Point is Tinubu chose the leader of the core North. He chose one of the core North which happens to be Muslim since they're all Muslims anyway.

Meanwhile, the big churches are in Lagos. Were they islamised? If Tinubu didn't islamise his wife and Lagos, he won't islamise anyone.

If Christians could be massacred when we have Christian VP, then imagine what would happen when we have a Muslim Muslim ticket!!

Again Tinubu choosing a vice VP is proving the fact that's he's a fake Muslim...

If northern Muslims can't trust a southern Muslim, why do you think that Northern Christians will trust a Muslim Muslim ticket ?

Are Nigerian Christians second class citizens in this country ?

And finally, Tinubu's wife who was ordained a pastor was politically motivated !!

Politics / 2023: Breaking!!.. Entire Christians In APC Reject Muslim-muslim Ticket by Cyynthia(f): 5:21pm On Jul 29, 2022
Northern Christian leaders in the All Progressives Congress on Friday called on Nigerians not to vote for any ticket that was not mixed between Christians and Muslims during the 2023 elections.

According to them, since the Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidency was divisive, it must be rejected by all patriotic Nigerians.

They bared their minds during the APC Northern Christian Leaders Summit, with a declaration that the insinuation that Northern Muslims would not support a Christian running made was untrue and divisive.

Among the leaders who spoke during the event were a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; Senator Ishaku Abbo (Adamawa North) and several other Christian leaders in Northern Nigeria.

Lawal, who was also the chairman of the occasion, said colleagues within and outside the APC expressed shock over their reaction to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 general election, saying it was a grand conspiracy against the Northern Christians.

The former SGF said, “Our opposition has some historical basis. There were times in the past when Christians produced the Deputy Governors in Kebbi, Niger and Kaduna states. Now, it is wholly Muslim-Muslim tickets.

“It is worth noting that all these are happening in the APC-controlled states. They are threatening to do likewise in Gombe, Kogi and Adamawa states.

“It is also now a recurring practice in the North whereby any Christian traditional ruler that dies is replaced with a Muslim Prince, albeit from the ruling family even if the most qualified and preferred prince is a Christian. The recent case of Billiri Chiefdom in Gombe State is still fresh in our minds.

“Proof of its anti-Christian agenda is that our party itself has completely eliminated Northern Christians from its NWC (National Working Committee) and NEC (National Executive Committee). All our protestations as party members have been completely ignored by the party leadership.

“But as members of the APC, we have the right to continue to express our indignation at these happenings and will not give up until we secure the justice that is due us.

“The main purpose of this historical narrative is to let you know that for the APC, a Muslim-Muslim ticket has been a long-term political strategy and not a one-off decision. Thus, all this talk of competence as the reason for the choice of the Muslim VP are balderdash and diversionary. This is a calculated anti-Christian exclusion agenda that is being implemented.

“We see this ticket as an assent to the current and continuing educational, economic and political marginalisation of the Northern Nigerian Christians.

“Christians all over the country see this MM ticket as a deliberate and premeditated attempt to introduce and firmly entrench religion into the politics of this country. This, of course, will lead to further disharmony in the hitherto fragile coexistence of the Nigerian society, disrupt peace and hamper both social and economic development of the country.

“Christians, and indeed most enlightened Nigerians are at a loss as to why people that intend to govern a country with our kind of diversity would choose this path to power. This is very divisive and must be rejected by all patriotic Nigerians.

“Implied in this ticket is the insinuation that Northern Muslims are not willing to vote for a ticket that has a Christian on it and on which they are not represented. It is our belief that northern Muslims would have seen the justice in a Muslim-Christian ticket and would have given it their overwhelming support had the party been inclined to do so.

Related News Aregbesola's finance commissioner dumps APC for PDP PDP woos APC presidential aspirant with gov ticket Anglican Church knocks APC over Muslim-Muslim ticket

“A corollary to this mindset is that Christians should also not vote for a ticket in which they are not accommodated. Unfortunately, this is the message we get loud and clear from this MM ticket. This is truly a wake-up call for all Nigerian Christians. We didn’t start this religious politics, the APC and its candidates did; so, all of us should take note and act as appropriate.”

While advising his APC colleagues to spare them the sanctimonious lectures on “competence” and the cliché “religion of the candidates does not matter”, Lawal added that, “The truth is that the 2023 presidential election will be all about religion, and sadly, you started it; religion does matter in this context; so be ready for the consequences”.

Lawal said, “It is important to reiterate that we Nigerian Christians want to live in peace and harmony with all practitioners of other religions. We want to enjoy social and economic developments like other parts of the world but without peace, justice and religious harmony, this is not possible.

“On our part, we neither seek to oppress nor dominate anyone or any religion. But we will also resist anyone trying to discriminate against us and our religion. We were not the ones that started this fight. The APC started it and must be ready to carry the cross it has created. Blaming Christians and heaping insults on CAN will take them nowhere.

“For, how do they expect Christians to keep silent when a northern state governor publicly states that they pressured (Bola) Tinubu to get a northern Muslim VP because they did not believe him to be a good Muslim? Is the VP going to be the National Deputy Imam? How do they expect us to keep silent when another northern state governor goes to Osun State and urges them to vote for someone just because he is a Muslim? Was he there for the election campaign or “dawah”? What can be a better example of religion in politics than demonstrated by these governors?

“Clearly, there is an agenda to politically, religiously, and economically suppress and oppress the Northern Christian. But we are up to the task. We will protect ourselves. The PVC and our prayers will be our weapons of choice and we will massively deploy them in 2023.

“But while we are ready to battle this politics of exclusion and oppression, we are open to discussions with any one who wants to engage with us in good faith.”

Dogara, on his part, said with the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, Nigeria was going the way of the Nazi Germany.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who said the APC wanted to disintegrate Nigeria like USSR and Yugoslavia, added that the party looked like a “supporter of APC” party.

According to him, Nigeria of 2022 is not the Nigeria of 1993 adding that the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has made a fatal error of judgment.

Dogara also supported the position of other Christian leaders on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, with a call on Christians to seek for an alternative platform in the 2023 elections.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Truth must be told that anyone who is not bringing us together is consciously tearing us apart”, Dogara added.

Senator Abbo said no Northerner would fight his brother because he is a Muslim, adding that they were fighting injustice.

He called on Nigerians to reject every divisive tendency of individuals to divide the people.

lol
The joke is on u,everyone knows u are a nyamiri with different monikers like cynthialove, cynthiakiss,Cynthiaqueen n co n u were popular as gbenga adeyinka girlfriend back then cos in your warped mind u believe yorubas re filled with hate so they will support gbenga adeyinka like u people did with nnamdi kanu

U have failed in your secession mission cos both nnamdi kanu n your boyfriend have been locked up for good now so u have now switched to Obi supporters which will surely fail

Can’t wait to know what u will start screaming again after peter obi loses out

Why u dey contradict yourself like that ?

APC says RELIGION does not matter but some people want Hijab to be worn in all Secondary Schools

APC says RELIGION does not matter but you cannot sell alcohol in some states in NIGERIA

APC says RELIGION does not matter but "Jonathan" was declared religiously infidel in 2015 despite not contesting to become an IMAM

APC says RELIGION does not matter but almost every notable Northerner supported the killing of Deborah. If RELIGION does not matter she would have been alive today and you know what, her killers and their supporters are all going to vote someone in 2023

APC says RELIGION does not matter in NIGERIA but we have a Constitution that recognises the CRIMINAL CODE in the South and PENAL CODE in the North

APC says RELIGION does not matter but HISBAH is a religious police backed by law and it's officers can arrest a normal police officer

APC says RELIGION does not matter but Leah Shuaibu was denied freedom because those that negotiated the release of the kidnapped Dapchi school girls were of different RELIGION

APC says RELIGION does not matter but a Northern Christian is bad for political business

APC says RELIGION does not matter but enact religious beliefs into our laws. If religious beliefs inspire the laws that govern us, then the influence of RELIGION shouldn't be down played

APC says RELIGION does not matter but a Christian woman was killed in Abuja because she was preaching close to a Mosque. Her killers are still walking around freely and will vote during the elections

APC says RELIGION does not matter but our government continues to sponsor pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem every year

APC says RELIGION does not matter yet churches are set ablaze by those shouting "Allahu Akbar"

APC says RELIGION does not matter but NORTHERN NIGERIA will never support a Christian - Christian ticket for the presidency

APC says RELIGION does not matter but you cannot build churches in major places in Kano

APC says RELIGION does not matter but Sharia law exists in some states in the supposedly secular NIGERIA

APC says RELIGION does not matter but when we had a Christian PRESIDENT someone we all know said an attack on Boko Haram was an attack on the North

APC says RELIGION does not matter but you cannot even clap your hands and praise Jesus in Kirikasama Local Government Area in Jigawa State

Good morning Nairalanders..

I Cynthia Sunmisola Jegede personally pushed for southern Presidency both online and offline, Osibanjo to be precise.. ( You can check my previous thread for confirmation), but it didn't work the way we thought because our preferd aspirant was maligned, disgraced and rigged out of the the race..

As it stands now many of us have shifted our support to another sound and better candidate which is Peter Obi who's a fellow southerner like we have been yearning for ages for a southerner to emerge in 2023....

Why we can't support BAT is because of his antecedents and he's not really sellable even his supporters knw that .. Everything about him is under scrutiny..
1, His Age... Nobody knows Tinubu's real age.. Only him knows .

2,His Origin... We don't know where he came from or his parent's unlike other popular politicians..

3,. Muslim-muslim ticket.. This is the height of it all.. If Tinubu succeeds with such ticket ( (God forbids) trust me islamic ortherners would be the ones that would benefit more from it in the future... Such unwelcomed record should never be allowed to be broken in a country where Christians and Muslims are virtually the same percent...

Yoruba lagba !!!!!

na so e dey start, very soon them go move to establish mosque inside school etc. It's a sensitive issue that shouldn't be encouraged or better still moderated in a secular state. Make we no divide common school into Muslim and the infidels. It promotes disunity. Schools school be uniform with any segregation based on religion. I don talk my own if you like abuse me I no go answer you. These segregation shouldn't be practised down south. We are more Yoruba than religious

You are a learner... Go to all the Local government in Lagos they all have where Muslims pray but christians don't have where they are clapping their hands...

Islamization agenda is in progress

Next is full establishment of Sharia law not only in Lagos, but the entire south west.. No wonder MURIC/Yoruba Muslims and Tinubu are pushing for a Muslim Muslim ticket.....

Yoruba christians wake up and stop being docile.. Think about the future of your children.. Those idio*t shouting religion doesn't matter will never tolerate this if it's the other way round...

I repeat..... Yoruba Christians Wake Up!!
