Politics / 2023: Please Vote Wisely: Bishop Kuhka To Nigerian Christians by Cyynthia(f): 9:03pm On Oct 29, 2022
The Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah has urged Christians to make wise decisions in electing a new crop of political leaders in 2023.

Kukah made the comment in Yola at the 2022 Church Leaders Summit.

He also asked the Christian community not to worry about the choices made by political parties in fielding their presidential candidates as power rests with the electorates.

“We have to all make the right calculations and not be swayed by emotions,” he said.

“Because after all we’ve been through in Nigeria, we must avoid a mentality of ‘us versus them’.

“Nobody is going to force you as a Christian to vote one way or the other.

“And as I said, I’m moving away from this binary view of Christians and Muslims. That’s not who we are as Nigerians. That’s not what happens in the marketplace or across the country. There are no Christian roads, no Christian thieves or Muslim saints.

“For me, I don’t see how any Christian – I’m sorry to say – should be worried about the choice that a political party has made. Whatever decision any politician makes, they will live with the consequences.”

CONGRATULATIONS SIR!!!

If Pastor Yemi had emerged as APC candidate entire southerners and northerners would have rallied behind him, all these religious tension wouldn't have emanated. In fact, election would have been over before 12 pm..

But since Tinubu thinks he can use Lagos FUND to buy his way out, we will teach him a bitter lesson he will never forget in his life, to the extent that no politician in this country will ever contemplate to run a Muslim- Muslim ticket again even in the next centuries to come..

Some of us that supported Yemi before he was rigged out in primaries have switched our loyalty to Peter Obi..

Another liar on the loose. CAN chairman begged Tinubu on Lagos candidate? Lol..

More reason I feel Tinubu should pick a North central so that all these people who would be telling several lies will have nothing to say.

Its more like a religious game.. Tinubu and his foot soldiers kicked against Christian ruling Lagos for 12 uninterrupted yrs.. They felt like Sowu Olu has completed the tenure of Christians hence the need to replace him with a Muslim untill people started intervening.. The major reason why Tinubu left Sowu olu was because he doesn't want to be fighting his presidential battle and still be fighting another battle at home, if not he would have loved to give him Ambode treatment.

Another factor is that sowu olu map out a big percentage of money for Tinubu's presidential bid every month unlike Ambode who's not a push over..

Whoever tells you that religion doesn't matter in yoruba land is not a truthful person

If Buhari no send emilokan, then he’s going to jail if any other party presidential wins the election. Buhari knows this and has no choice but to protect himself by supporting his party presidential candidate. Think about it sir.

The above is a comment from a Tinubu Supporter who believes that Buhari must rig an election for Tinubu to escape jail... He kicked against using of BVA by INEC (Theead is on fp) https://www.nairaland.com/7394029/using-bvas-conduct-elections-come/2#117756216

The question is ..

Is Jonathan In jail ?

Again is Buhari no more a saint like they made us to believe in 2015 ?

Why would a Tinubu supporter accuse Buhari of Corruption ?

All theses theories emanated from them after realising that "12 million blockvotes are now in the mud"

Inspiring confidence in BVAS, electronic transmission of election results

The system of using the BVAS for the conduct of elections has come to stay. There’s no going back” – Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, INEC Chairman

Africa’s biggest election will hold in February 2023 in Nigeria. It’s the seventh successive general elections in Nigeria’s 23 years of unbroken democratic expedition. With 10 million new voters added to the voters’ roll, an estimated 95 million registered voters will vote in 176,846 polling units distributed across 774 local government areas. A total of 12,163 candidates sponsored by 18 political parties are on the ballot for election into 109 senatorial districts, 360 federal constituencies, 993 state constituencies, 28 governorship positions and the Office of the President. The election is conducted against the backdrop of a new electoral law and innovations introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission to enhance electoral integrity and inspire public confidence in the electoral process. In the final analysis, the effective implementation, or lack thereof, of these new electoral technologies will play a significant role in assessing the integrity of the 2023 general elections.

The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and INEC Election Result Viewing Portal are two technological innovations celebrated for enhancing the transparency of election results and boosting public trust in electoral outcomes in recent elections. INEC asserts that these technologies are addressing the 10 most pervasive weaknesses in Nigeria’s election result management process, which include falsification of votes at polling units, falsification of number of accredited voters, collation of false results, mutilation of results and computational errors, swapping of results sheets, forging of results sheets, snatching and destruction of results sheets, obtaining declaration and return involuntarily, making declaration and return while result collation is still in progress and poor recordkeeping.

Both tools perform mutually reinforcing and critical functions in elections. The BVAS is a technological device used to identify and accredit voters’ fingerprints and facial recognition before voting. The device is also used for capturing images of the polling unit result sheet (Form EC8A) and uploading the image of the result sheet online. IReV is an online portal where polling unit-level results are uploaded directly from the polling unit, transmitted and published for the public. At the front end of the online portal, members of the public can create personal accounts with which they can gain access to all uploaded results stored as PDF files. This accessibility of polling unit-level results increases transparency and public trust in the process.

Despite improving public confidence in electoral outcomes, the introduction of BVAS and IReV is anathema to political actors determined to subvert the people’s will at all costs. It is, therefore, not surprising to learn of alleged attempts to torpedo INEC plans to safeguard the integrity of the election using the BVAS and IReV. A case in point is the litigation instituted in the Imo State High court seeking a restraining order against INEC to suspend the deployment of the BVAS for the general election.

Across the world, the introduction of electoral technologies has attracted contestations and controversies driven mainly by its propensity to enhance election credibility and undermine public trust in elections at the same time especially when electoral technologies are compromised. Most importantly, electoral technologies ensure efficiency in election administration and limit human interference with the electoral process. As these technologies evolve, attempts to compromise them heighten. Elections can be stolen, and voter choices upturned by compromised election officials with a click of a button. Tech tools may also be subjected to disruptive cyber-attacks. These issues amplify the essence of greater transparency by election management bodies to increase public trust and confidence in electoral technologies. Therefore, to increase the trust quotient in the BVAS and IReV, INEC should implement the following actions as a matter of urgency:

BVAS Software Optimisation: Efficiency in the delivery of electoral services builds public trust. The BVAS software should be modified and upgraded to improve voter accreditation and picture quality. Its IOS should be upgraded to introduce a feature that enables the camera to detect or capture/focus on the object of interest, such as the entire result sheet. In addition, a PDF compression script should be integrated into the portal to ease downloads of election results.

Timely conduct of penetration tests and mock exercises: In Kenya, the electoral commission is under a mandatory duty to test, verify and deploy technology at least 60 days before a general election. Nigeria’s Electoral Act has no similar provision. Notwithstanding, INEC has conducted simulation exercises for the BVAS in the past. While the 105 elections may be considered mock exercises for the BVAS and IReV, the high volume of information exchange, data processing, and transmission involved in the general election is incomparable to those elections. This is why penetration tests and mock exercises are required to assess the robustness, efficiency, security, and capacity of INEC servers and devices before their eventual deployment for the general election. Pre-deployment tests should be based on an extensive and representative methodology that integrates stakeholder consultation and public participation. Sharing the outputs of the test/exercises will enlist public support for the BVAS and IReV, just as creating opportunities for independent verification and audits of electoral technologies will be pivotal to inspiring public confidence. While there has been no successful cyber-attack to date on the BVAS and IReV, the public will require assurances of the durability, reliability and robustness of INEC’s tech defence system.

Politics / INEC Insists On Use Of BVAS, Electronic Transmission Of Results by Cyynthia(f): 9:04pm On Oct 18, 2022
The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday reassured Nigerians that there is no plan to discard the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the electronic transmission of results.

Addressing participants in Abuja at a training of master trainers on technologies for 2023 general elections, INEC Chairman, Prof, Mahmood Yakubu, said the commission is determined to deploy the BVAS technology for the conduct of a free, fair, credible and transparent election.

Prof. Yakubu also appealed to political parties and their candidates to shun politics of violence.

The INEC Chairman’s reassurances came amid reports of plans to distort the use of technology for the 2023 general elections.

Below is that he said:
Althoigh I don’t support Muslim-Muslim, but you cannot say you want to hand over power to someone whose ethnic group is just leaving the presidency, someone whose region is just leaving the presidency.

What he’s saying is that even tho he doesn’t support Muslim-Muslim, it is far still better than handing power to another Northerner.

No difference between Atiku and Tinubu..

Tinubu is a Muslim who wants to take power from another Muslim

If you allow this satanic Muslim Muslim ticket to succeed (God forbids), It would take Nigerian Christians centuries to recover and find their voice again in political space if they will even recover because the demonic foundation is already laid and northern muslims will take advantage of it in the future..

Just Look at the rubbish happening under a Muslim Christian ticket, then close your eyes and imagine what would now happen under a Muslim Muslim ticket..

If you are a Christian and you don't have a voters card and you not planning to vote, but only good at making noise online, Please deactivate your account and Bleep off because you a disgrace to humanity..

Those waiting for this demonic MUSLIM-MUSLIM ticket issue to die off will wait in vain because sane Nigerians will keep emphasising on it and be reminding Nigerians how dangerous such ticket is until election day...

Politics / Apologise Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket - Progressive Lawyers For Osinbajo To FFK by Cyynthia(f): 9:20pm On Oct 11, 2022
Progressive Lawyers for Osinbajo (PLO) has asked ex-Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) to apologize to Nigerians as the 2023 election season begins in full swing.

The group of legal practitioners declared that he went back on his word regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They said the former presidential aide has publicly recanted his advocacy because he joined the ruling party.

Fani-Kayode was recently appointed as Director of New Media, Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

In a statement on Tuesday, PLO Publicity Secretary, Tom Praise Adoje made reference to FFK’s latest essay titled “Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu and Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral”.

Adoje said the politician attempted to promote APC’s controversial ticket and advised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to support it.

How can he openly criticize the same faith ticket in the past, and now solicit Prof. Osinbajo’s support for it?

“Fani-Kayode recounted the story of Absalom, but what about him completely denying and betraying his own faith.

It is disappointing that those who believed in his strident crusade against Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2015 are now wondering what explains his sudden change of belief.”

The lawyers drew attention to previous comments, news stories and videos where the ex-minister opposed such a ticket before the 2015 polls.

Their reaction further stressed that it was misleading to solely credit the VP’s political successes to APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

PLO said the records of Osinbajo, who served as Special Adviser to the Attorney-General of the Federation in 1988, are not questionable as they are open to the public.

The group also recalled Fani-Kayode listed the disadvantages of same faith ticket in articles including an Op-Ed in 2014 titled ‘APC and the strange dream of Muslim/Muslim ticket’.

“That (FFK’s latest) article was in no way well thought out…he has eaten his words. We demand that he apologize to Nigerians”, the statement added.

DEAR NIGERIANS, PLEASE CALM DOWN NOW AND READ THE LONG EFFECT AND CONSEQUENCES OF MUSLIM-MUSLIM TICKET

God forbid that Tinubu and Shettima triumph at the 2023 presidential election and proceed to complete two terms. Power will thereafter be liable to rotate to Northern Nigeria, which will probably produce a Muslim. At the end of two terms of that person, following the two terms of Tinubu-Shettima and counting back to the two terms of Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s presidency would have been occupied by a Muslim for pretty much a quarter of a century or for 27 out of 32 years going back to the administration of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. Children born at the beginning of this period may end up with the impression that Nigeria is indeed an Emirate in which only Muslims are entitled to aspire to the highest office.
Unfortunately, Christians don’t get the message being passed by this action.
If it succeeds, in the next 8 years, political parties will only field Muslim candidates. They will tell you that if they present a Christian candidate, that they won’t win. That the North will not vote him, and they need northern votes to win. They will automatically sideline Christians in the politics of Nigeria. Then gradually, our laws begin to change towards a Muslim nation. The Hijab ruling is a clear example. Christians better stand your ground in this election or be eliminated. Once they vex, they attack churches and kill worshipers and its normal. They stone Christians in the name of blasphemy and its normal.

They negotiate with terrorists to release only Muslim girls and keep the Christian. Don’t use because of ethnicity and destroy your faith ethnicity is only in the world, you believe is beyond this world. Those attacked in Owo church, were not attacked because they are Yoruba, they were attacked because they are Christians. Those attacked in southern Kaduna are not attacked because they are Hausa’s, but because they are Christians
