there are always ways to bypass it, even iphone, people still find a way to unlock it. with xiaomi, once you know the test points and you have a good knowledge of qualcomm edl mode, u can flash anything flashable

But then Google doesn't backup SMS and call history. Unless you want to use Truecaller for that.

As a xiaomi user, does one really need MI cloud backup assuming one is already backing up stuff to Google account.
Also, it appears some stuff like SMS messages, call history, etc don't backup to Google account.

Absolutely, which would you prefer using?

Combination of both?

I'll say Google because it's easier restoring on a non xiaomi device and even iOS. Just connect to the internet and your contacts, calenders etc update automatically.

If the bootloader is locked, yes. And if there's a MIUI account already login which you used to lock the device.

the bold is what is mostly important for mobile consumption. ie how it looks since a larger % of pictures taken with mobile phone are usually used for mobile consumption such as social media.

and the funny thing is the detail we are talking about, most people will not even notice it except photography buffs and tech heads. i can guarantee you, a lot of people will tell you all the pictures i posted above are equally good and they cant see any difference
i once took some portrait pictures with my old redmi note 3 using gcam, displayed it on tv at a family event and most people taught i used my dslr camera for the pictures does that mean my redmi note 3 is as good as my dslr camera? the answer is for many ordinary people it is. but the fact is, it is not. so its really all about target purpose and target audience.

i guess we tech heads get bored easily, so we like to find things to compare and argue to kill some time and earn bragging rights

on the contrary, what i have deduced so far based on many comparisons i have seen, a midranger phone with a top rated camera usually compares well to that of a flagship phone in daylight photography. you only begin to notice major difference in night/low light photography.

looks so, but when you look at the raw image, you'll find out it'll be more detailed on the S9+ than the Redmi.

Especially when viewed on a bigger screen or let's say a TV for example

No. 4 not entirely correct. HDR doesn't work too well under low light conditions, too much noise and distortions

Checked. The update is meant to fix Full Screen Gesture slow response and some notification bug.

Guess it's not meant for me.

Oh, sorry. You can complain on miforum sha. But an update for that ish should be released or check full changelogs online. It may be fixed in that update but not stated
