I finished my interview about an Hour ago and I dont know how I feel about it.
The countenance of the V.O made it more difficult. She just wanted a summary of answers (I prepared appetizer and dessert but she no wan chop)

I arrived the consulate axis at about 6:00 interview was slated for 7am), I didnt print my appointment letter so I dashed one of the thieves running business centres there N1000 (e pain me gaan). I got to the gate by 6:25 and tjr first thing/person that caught my attention was that shouting man (lowkey I think something is wrong with him). No one person should be that power drunk talking about “I will send you away, you cannot write a petition against me, petition didn’t bring me here and it won’t remove me”

I got in at about 6:57 and the VO that was supposed to attend to me wasn’t ready so I went to the cubicle of the other V.O. When i saw her I thought to myself ope o, but babe no dey smile o.

Do you plan on coming back?

All these questions in less than 30 minuted but i am not very confident about this. Anyway let the prayers & waiting begin.

Thank you for your response. Do you know how much the prepaid envelope is sold for at the embassy?

victree007:
yes you can get it at the embassy immediately after your interview, you will tell them you need to go and get the prepared envelope or better still before your interview commences. I'm sure dhl would have opened by 7 a.m. so it's your choice, either you get it before or after your interview

TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by daaviincii: 9:36pm On Aug 08, 2017
The intent behind this is not to provoke the German consulate into banning Nigerians or withdrawing the free education scheme. It is simply to provoke them into re-thinking their stand regarding the study visa situation. It is understandable that we need be diplomatic (nothing in the article states otherwise). However, one cannot simply fold his arms and expect manna to fall from heaven, the idea is to get them to reconsider but that is totally at their discretion.
Everyone is simply doing what he or she can to find a solution to this (if we can).
Also, those individuals who were affected by something like this last year, should kindly let us know what they did (if they did anything at all). This platform is to exchange ideas and pass on info to help the next man.
I pray we all get that which we desire.

Renewable0216:
Hello guys,

I trust everyone is having a great day.

In the light of the recent rejection of Student Visa application from the Embassy...It's obvious our only hope of getting them to re-think their stand is to involve our Legislators and Govt Officials.

I've read that some other Asian countries are facing similar challenge but he truth is Nigerians are the only ones in Africa. The Embassy in Accra attends to 3 countries and it's still open till probably September if not longer...so that argument does not hold water.

In nut, myself and couple of guys have thought it right to get the attention of well-meaning Nigerians to wedge in on our case and call the Embassy to act right.

An article has been put up and we need to flood our Social media handles with this information! LIKE FLOOD IT TILL THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESPOND TO IT.

I believe everyone on this platform should ACTIVELY participate in this; not only those who are yet to get interview dates.
VICTORY FOR ONE IS VICTORY FOR ALL.

This is a case of some people choosing to crush our dreams and aspirations, we shouldn't fold our arms!

If you really believe in result, then LET'S GO ALL OUT TO TWEET and RETWEET, write / share the blog url, Write on facebook, Call that Uncle and Friend in positions of authority.

Copy the President and Osibanjo, all Senators- Murray Bruce, Abike Dabiri, Dino Melaye...ALL OF THEM! , The House of Rep, Media Houses, Linda, Sahara Reporters and every other person you can.

THIS IS ABOUT OUR FUTURE...waiting one year after all the emotional, financial stress and hard work done to get the admission shouldn't go down the drain...

WE ARE THE YOUTH, WE MUSTN'T JUST ALLOW PEOPLE PEDDLE WITH OUR LIVES.

I hope this plea will resonate with everyone here...Even those that have gotten interview dates and those who are yet to even apply.

We need you to make this a reality. The likes, share, re-tweet, copy would go a lonnnnng way!

#Winter17 is possible!

Impossible is nothing!

Thank you for pointing all these out. In the words of the great Tupac "I am not saying i'm gonna change the world, but i guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world"

Renewable0216:
@uchevolata: Sorry Sis, but I think you got this all wrong. There are lots to answer in your post so I'd take it one at a time...

First off, I will have to say sorry, but we are all experiencing the same thing.

Q1: After reading your post I felt really sad... But have you tried to weigh the situation and that procedures and policies change in various countries?
A1: Sadly, I don't think policies have changed much in Germany, at least in Africa, only Nigerians are facing this! We just need these guys to talk to those at the Embassy...at least try! We can't just fold our arms when Ghanaian Embassy is still open till September!

Q2: Are you kidding me that you are going to flood twitter handles quote politicians even the acting president
A2: We won't be the first persons to do that...folks have done that for even less germane reasons.

Q3: just German consulate has not decided to responded to emails on appointments? (now I was really taken aback and felt ashamed).
A3: Taken aback and ashamed...those are big words tho. But I'm still at loss as to why you are? Any ignominious act?

Q4: It's looking more like the protest is farther than just wanting to school in Germany, I perceive!
A4: How so? What else is there to do in Germany than school the first years? Do under-handed jobs? Give me a break! Some of us are classy for that babe...

Q5: I beg of us let's act wisely when we do things and stop making this Germans look so less on us.
A5: Got better ideas? Seem like good time to air them now

Q6: Come to think of if, a German can say if you push this much you can as well apply to a US school and getting scholarship or get non tuition free school in other part of Europe.
A6: Have they said that? They made Education free for a reason.

And I think you've gotten this all wrong. This attack is not on the Germans per se, they probably just reacting to influx of applicants this round and probably don't want to stress themselves. We just need someone to make them want to stretch a little.
Their advise has been wait till next year...what happens then? A deluge of old and new applicants pushing them far beyond their limits??
Have you thought about that?

Q7: My Friend applied to a university in Frankfurt for PhD, after weeks of waiting, exchanging research topics with his supervisor, suddenly a mail came in and state sorry we can't continue with the admission process as the German as regulation has told them to pay attention to its citizens and remain mute about it! This was in March 2017. In April TUMunich did same thing applicants pursuing a PhD must have been a graduate from TUM.
A7: I'm sorry about your friend, really am. But this is the position of certain schools, some schools are so eager to have us that they took it upon themselves to mail the Embassy!

Q8: I applied to confederation college in Canada what you are experiencing for Germany happened to me, I have even paid a 110$ application fee, until the coordinator said this (Unfortunately, we do require minimally a Second Class, Upper Division for admission to our post-graduate level programs in Engineering. This was set after recent discussions with immigration and other partners who work in Nigeria.)
A8: This is a different ball game Sis, you probably just did not meet the requirement for that school, another school who sees the good in you would have gladly jumped at you...right?

Q9. If you have applied to a Canadian school you will understand that 2'2 goes for PGD I had gotten Conestoga and Lambton in 2016 but couldn't continue due to finance.

Q10:We on Canadian thread didn't floor the Canadian ambassador mails. We on the Canadian thread can tell you from August 2016 to February 2017. 90percent of Nigerian applicants were refused because of changes in immigration policies.
A10: The Country made a policy change...How are you so sure this is the case for Germany. Check around Sis, all other African embassies are still open? Should we run to other countries because own guys can't be called to question?

Q11: it is their country and can change the laws doesn't matter to the Nigerian president!
A11: True, it's their Country, thier Universities, their money...butb international relation exist too. Nigeria, despite our not so-good reputation, is still a fertile ground for them...maybe not the best but they still spend money funding an Embassy on our soil.

Q12: Why am I grieved? Please lets take decisions with wisdom so as not to kill other opportunities.... They have every right to do what they wish to do! Let's be diplomatic and have faith with prayers.
A12: On this I agree. The last thing a wise man would do is burn a bridge just because he's past the ridge...but are you sure our silence wouldn't do worse? If we succumb to their whims and caprices so easily, what happens next year when they now "combine" 2 batches?

Q13: They will send appointment replies very soon before August ends by God's grace.... Be hopeful.
Sending disturbing mails can put them in distress and conclude not to go ahead don't you think?
A13: I am hopeful and prayerful... that is why we are doing this. What if they don't re-consider? Which most Germans "usually" don't?
Let's just give them a nudge by getting one of our top officials to wedge in...

This is not a bottle-and-knives fight.... it's a social protest to generate the right results. I'm in fact too lanky to spear-head a revolt! grin

Q14: In my opinion, quit the idea of social media protest, one thing you should know is that Germans does care like Americans too don't.
A14: Nice choice of words...your opinion...nice, noble and praiseworthy but I think we are on same ship here. Correct me if I'm wrong...you worry is extremity and total sabotage of our goals but

Q15: Sorry, for the long epistle! God bless us all, if it's His will to make it manifest no man can shut it.
A15: Sorry about the long post too, but I think it demands it lest people go off with the wrong notion about our intentions

Maybe I didn't articulate our reasons and approach well...forgive my inadequacies

But the truth is...we need to be more concerted and painstaking in our approach.

Our goal is to simply get our folks in high places to dialogue with them at the Embassy. No one is carrying placards and logs!
It's simply enough noise to make those who can change things come in and speak with these Germans!

The right person talking to them can get the job done. In fact, just a phone call!
But how do we get them to do that if we just lazy around!

I'm made bold to say that the social media would get the job done!

If it does not, at least we tried.

Things we regret most in life are not the things we do...it's the ones we don't!

Conclusion: Let's thread with caution!!

Yes we would Big Sis. We would thread with caution and be civil too.

We can be civil and still cause a change!

#Winter17

Impossible is nothing!

PS: Ucheveleta...this is nothing personal. I apologize in advance if I sounded that way...but believe me, it's not!

I respect you and respect your opinion too.

I do not think this is what @sammolarge19 is asking. His post is related to the current challenge applicants are facing with booking appointments at the embassy.

john20177:
How exactly are you looking? I mean you should contact the German embassy if you have an acceptance letter from a university in Germany already. Once you contact them they will give you appointment for submission of documents and interview. Long story cut short, check this article it might help - there's also a link to German embassies and representatives around the world depending on where you're applying from. The article is just for educational purpose only, they don't issue visa. http://www.myafricansabroad.com/germany-visa-requirements/

Many thanks for your kind gestures and selfless service @ olanrewaju, your types are what we need here. And for all those who are more intrested in what they can get rather than what they can give, God is watching u all.

Some people here after getting tons of advice and info, fail to share their experience when they succeed or attend interviews. Just can't imagine how selfish people could be.

For those seeking 4 private responses to their problems without dropping a line to enlighten others, well done.

Guess we need to address some of this attitudes for future purposes.

Good morning all
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by daaviincii: 11:12pm On Aug 07, 2017
If this is a general issue and not peculiar to Nigeria alone like you suggested, i believe it will be resolved pretty soon.
The point you raised about Germany spending a lot on educating citizens and foreigners is understandable, but some of us have admission to private schools that require tuition and still are affected by this visa appointment situation. Having said that, we all should make efforts to let the public know the situation, we never can tell who help will come from.
Cheers

Eldeee:
@johnnyessence, a big congratulations to you, by the grace of the Almighthy God, we will rock the geospatial world. During the week, i somehow stumbled into a thread for pakistanis and indians and discovered they are also facing the same thing we are experiencing about visa interview denials after admissions, infact some students from bangladesh complained bitterly that not even a single student have been interviewed not to talk of granting a student visa.

i have personally sent a passionate appeal to the German embassy in Abuja, requesting for possible student interview schedule for us here in Nigeria citing different challenges we are faced with at the moment such schools granting admissions very late, scarcity of passport booklets and delays in admission decisions by some schools, but still no response till date.

I also sent a mail to the international office of my university, citing the same situation and requested for them to assist, but still no single response from them which is quite unlike them. I have to forward a mail to the program director for my intended course, and she sincerely told me the government and the immigration have directed they remain mute as regards this which is definitely beyond them as it stands.

The German government is definitely spending a large chunk of their finance on education which is not just for their citizens alone but also for me and you inclusive and other persons all over the world. The population of applicants in no doubts keep increasing and this is definitely a challenge to their budget which i believe you should understand. Pls brothers and sisters lets thread comments with caution while sending messages via social media and other means. This i have come to understand from the indians and pakistanis who are already there.

Its quite disheartening how selfish some of us can be here, we keep complaining about those who have already made some steps by being there, on how they have not been dropping some lines here, but we fail to offer informative and timely information, while some enjoy sitting on the fence as observers and only comment when they need help. Some of us are very much aware of this situation last year and failed to provide timely information to the house. Its all well.

Sorry if my write up doesn't go down well, but i hope we all understand and make valuable adjustments for the benefit of one another.. Thanks in all.

Yes, but it won't be for winter semester.

Sadeeq1244:
So...this means that if the enrollment deadline can be extended by the university, I can still apply for the interview right?
TravelRe: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 4 by daaviincii: 12:34pm On Jul 31, 2017
In the Never-say-never spirit, I wrote them another email

Thank you for the timely response. It is unfortunate that prospective students find themselves in this situation. However, there are courses run in some schools during the Winter semester only (e.g Development studies in Uni Passau), this means that students have to wait another year, re-apply then pay another application fee. This is emotionally draining, it will be helpful if the embassy can look into providing an alternative for students who do not have the opportunity to defer their admission or whose courses only run during the winter semester.

If it is possible to move such prospective students to the Abuja embassy for interview, it will be reassuring & calming.

------
In addition to my previous email, it is important for me to bring to your attention that some students who have gotten an appointment will not show up due to problems of funding their blocked account.
Also, I implore you to look into increasing the number of VO attached to your Lagos embassy so as to optimize this process.
This is a delicate period for the embassy and students, we appreciate the effort being put in place but the way this situation is handled will make or mar the future of a lot of prospective students.

I trust your competent office to proffer a solution soon.

So fingers crossed, let us be hopeful. All the people affected should reach out to the embassy too.

daaviincii:
So i wrote the e-mail below to the German federal foreign office and got this response:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail. Please be informed that the German Consulate General is booked out until October 10th 2017. Due to the fact that the processing time of a student visa takes up between 5 and 6 weeks, students will not be able to meet up with the enrolment deadlines at their respective universities. We deeply regret not being able to grant appointments to all prospective students. However, we would like to point out that students who cannot be granted an appointment for the winter semester 2017/2018 are welcome to contact the Consulate again in November or December concerning available appointments for the summer semester 2018 if they can provide a valid admission letter.

Sincerely yours,

b.o.

I believe the message was forwarded to the Lagos embassy for a response because it was replied from Walter Carrington address of the Embassy in Nigeria.
I am sincerely tired and don't know what else to do.
Elders in the house, please has this ever happened? and if it has, was there any solution?

Thank you

Renewable0216:
Good job @daaviincii

Why not do a follow up mail to subtly fault their premise that they have been booked out given that some with interview dates have not funded their accounts and won't show up on the interview dates.

Also, implore them if they can optimize their process(like get another VO or some other thing they can do) so that more people can be received at the Embassy.

Impossible is nothing.

Let's keep throwing suggestions at them so that they can think of something.

Nice job again Bro.

Thumbs up!

Dear Sir/Ma,
I am writing to make an official complaint regarding the issue faced by prospective students from Nigeria who are willing and have an admission to study in Germany during the Winter 2017/2018 semester.
The German embassy (Lagos) in Nigeria has put up a notice that they have been booked out for the winter semester 2017/2018. This has put such students including myself in a state of shock, the emotional trauma alone cannot be overemphasized. This is because the process of getting an admission is not only time consuming not to talk of the financial implication.
This notice by the German embassy in Lagos is not only distasteful but totally inconsiderate.
If student visa appointment in the the German Embassy in Lagos is booked out, this means other forms of visa appointments are not booked out, which in turn depicts that people traveling for other reasons such as holidays can get appointments but students who will impact their society and the world at large cannot get one?
Also, there is a German Embassy in Abuja, which can equally attend to students who are looking to book an appointment since the embassy in Lagos is suddenly booked out.

I'll implore you to use your good office to look into this situation. I look forward to your response and most importantly a timely solution to this point in question.

Thank you.
