Last season, Jesse made 18 appearances in the league,starting only 4 matches (before injury ruled him out for the rest of the season). The absence of Ronaldo was the reason behind atleast one of those four starts.

I didn't watch the match but from what you guys are saying, it seems young played very well. I hope this marks the beginning of a néw era in his man utd career and I also hope he doesn't revert back to the 1diotic serial diving/hunchback football he has been synonymous with, ever since he joined us.

For a player who has been at a top club for a while, His "footballing brain"/ decision making isn't up to the level it ought to be IMO. Giving the ball away needlessly by Overrunning it on the byline (leading to goal kicks), coupled with shooting tamely when he should be putting his laces through the ball - these are still some of the areas that stick out like a sore thumb in Danny's game.

If only he could sort out these grey areas.....

van gaal will always give minutes to the relatively unknown young player rather than the senior squad member ESPECIALLY in preseason.
who gets to stay and who has to go will be decided later.

Playing a winger upfront at the expense of a CF who hasn't really been assessed by the manager is the issue here, I think.
