LVG wasn't under any obligation to make statements on wether he approved the deals involving shaw and Herrera, yet he decided to do so in a very concise manner, to the extent that he even mentioned their names. It's a very simple matter.

I never take these press conferences seriously, they are mostly a charade.
Most managers do it because they are obligatory. In reality they blab through them.

Nobody put a gun to his head before he made those specific statements. There are so many other things he could have said about shaw and Herrera in that press conference.

So the way it stands, van Gaal has said two very different things, and both seem to point in the opposite direction of the other.

The way it stands, LVG approved those deals, and he confirmed it by specifically mentioning the names of the players involved.

That he approved of the signing doesn't mean he had any input. He did not expressly say Shaw was his transfer target.
The way I see it, the Shaw and Herrera signings were part of a strategy to convince Louis van Gaal as to why he should accept the United job.

I still repeat that he will not sign an overweight Shaw for 30 million anything, especially as a 19 year old teenager with nothing but talent/promise.

I really don't see any need for all these conspiracy theories and assumptions, since our manager himself confirmed his approval of those signings, when he could as well have distanced himself from those deals by keeping mum.

Enyimba was envy of all other clubs in nigeria. Compared to other clubs, Incentives like brand new cars and plots of lands, attractive allowances etc made them stand out. Our supposed interest in players like cuadrado and di maria remain a mystery, considering the fact that both are expensive players who don't seem to be useful in a 3-4-1-2 formation (which is gonna be our default formation from all indications).

With the appointment of fletcher as vice captain, it seems the scot is gonna play a key role LVG's plans (at least for this season). Taking this into perspective, I won't feel bad with the acquisition of a decent 20-25m rated midfielder, ending the Vidal rumors once and for all!
