Mesut Ozil, who has been highly criticized on his Arsenal performances believes that the criticism comes from high expectations borne out of being "one of the best number 10s in the world".
Despite ending last season campaign as an FA cup winner, questions persist over whether he can impose himself in the Barclays Premier League.

"The opinions of fans are important to me and I'm happy they have such high expectations of me. I have high expectations of myself. I'm one of the best players in the world in that number 10 position. Fans, coaches, players and everyone knows that my best position is playmaker. It's different playing on the left. When I was in Madrid, I often played on the right. I enjoyed that because I'm left-footed and I was able to cut inside to give assists and get shots on target. On the left, it's more difficult."

Guardiola lay down law with fines for overweight players, turning up late, taking phone calls and ignoring dress codes.
Bayern boss implemented a strict regime on his Bayern Munich players in a bid to mentally toughen them for the new season. He set fined for small indiscretions, which the German press have christened Guardiola's punishment catalogue'.

Punishable indiscretions involve arriving late to team meetings, not observing dress codes, failing to put dirty clothes in laundry bins, and taking phone calls on the first floor of Bayern's training ground HQ on Sabener Strasse.

Players will receive a 250 euros fine for committing an offence on one occasion, with the size of the fine going up by another 250 euros. Players who refuse to eat within an hour of the end of a training session or a match will also be fined. Bayern's dietician Mona Nemmer, advised the players, to eat pasta dishes within an hour of finishing work, but many avoid doing so, in order to eat with their families when they return home.

A frustrated Guardiola has come up with a strict training practice in order to prevent another humiliation like the one his side suffered at the hands of Real Madrid, when Madrid trashed them 4-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo presented Real Madrid president Florentino Perez with a replica of his Ballon d'Or at the club's training ground in the Spanish capital on Wednesday.
The inscription on the trophy's plaque read:
"To Florentino Perez. With all my affection. Cristiano Ronaldo."
Ronaldo was named world player of the year in January by national coaches, captains and journalists. Ashley Young gets unexpected delivery from the skies while ranting at United shaky defense. In images which quickly spread on Twitter, the midfielder was ranting and raving at the defense when a dollop of bird excrement appeared to land in his mouth.
The bird had to have a very good aim, as its delivery landed right on the inside of the England international's lower lip from quite some distance away.

Brandao patiently waited for the arrival of Thiago Motta in the tunnel and headbutted him for reasons not yet known.
At the end of PSG's 2-0 Ligue 1 home win, television cameras showed players and security personnel milling around the tunnel as blood poured from midfielder Motta's nose.
President of Paris St Germain Nassar al-Khelaifi, told a Canal Plus TV reporter that his club would be registering a complaint against Brandao and that he (Brandao) should be "suspended for life....he is not a football player".
Al-Khelaifi added that the Brazilian "waited for Thiago Motta in the tunnel and attacked him with a headbutt".

Eric Abidal has announced his retirement from international football after 67 appearances for France. His announcement comes a day after Franck Ribery announced the end of his international career.
Abidal, who underwent a liver transplant in 2012 following the discovery of a tumor in 2011 has ended his 10-year international career to an end. Abidal's wish to say goodbye to the national team at the World Cup was denied after being omitted from Didier Deschamp's squad.
The 34-year-old told Catalan radio station RAC1:
"It is time to close this door. Not going to the World Cup was a disappointment because I wanted to finish on a good note. If I struggled as I did until today (after his liver transplant), it was to say goodbye to the national team at the World Cup. But that did not happen."
France, Frank Ribery and Samir Nasri have also retired from international duty.

Manchester United makes a groundbreaking signing after signing Sohail Rehman a wheel-chair bound football coach at a professional level.
22-year-old Rehman, has been signed up by United to work specifically with the club's academy. It is a crucial role that Rehman will adopt, looking after the young players of the future and coaching the potential stars of the next generation.
Sohail told Telegraph and Argus:
"Big thanks to David Moyes. I did a coaching session at United after that he was basically saying how impressed he was with me. When the chance of play was taken away from me I think it was the only option I had really. Luis Suarez's four month ban for biting Giorgio Chielliini has been upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but he can train with Barcelona.
The decision in taking the fight against his suspension, imposed by FIFA during the World Cup finals, to the highest sporting court has paid off.
Suarez is permitted to attend matches and train with his Barcelona team-mates, but he will be sidelined from match action until Barcelona's derby with Real Madrid on the weekend of October 25.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, has hailed Gareth Bale as the best player in the world ahead of his homecoming in Cardiff for the Super Cup tomorrow.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Cardiff, Ancelotti admitted competition was fierce for the world player of the year honor - even including some his own Real Madrid's stars - the Italian claimed Bale is at the pinnacle of his career.
He said: "As I said a lot of the time last year, he is the best. He is one of the best players in the world now, but I'm not so interested in whether Gareth can be nominated and go on to win it. Y'all remember that infamous 'Welcome to Manchester' banner that Manchester City hung out Piccadilly Station to welcome the signing of Carlos Tevez, following his spell at rivals United, in the summer of 2009?
Five years on, United have their revenge, with a Louis van Gaal-themed 'Welcome to Vanchester' poster appearing on a wall near the Manchester's main train station.
While City's banner carried the club's official logo, it isn't clear if the banner was paid for by United themselves or merely a supporters group with a sense of humor.

Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield at Wembley and the Gunners fans' celebrated Oliver Giroud's goal by doing a Poznan celebration which City adopted after a game against Lech Poznan in 2010.
The celebration involves fans linking arms, turning their backs to the pitch and then jumping up and down in unison - after Lech Poznan supporters did it against them in a Europa League match in 2010.
Arsenal were not the first to use the Poznan to mock City supporters, with fans of newly-promoted Cardiff City doing it when they beat them 3-2 in August 2013.
Manchester United supporters also did it during a Manchester derby game during the 2011-12 FA Cup.
Arsenal fans should note that winning the Community Shield isn't a criteria of having a successful season. Last season, Moyes led United to win Community Shield 2013 and he went on to have a bad season.

BBC reports that Barcelona have agreed a £15m deal with Arsenal for center-back Thomas Vermaelen.

There is outrage in Russia after female football supporters were strip-searched by male police officers before a game in the city of Kazan, which is supposed to be the 2018 World Cup host city.
One fan Ekaterina Stepanove wrote a blog post about the "humiliation" suffered by her and fellow visiting female fans from Spartak Moscow before their match with local side Rubin Kazan.

According to Stephanova, "girls were forced to strip, including the removal of their underwear." Police officers told her that the search were necessary as she could have a bomb on her but she refused to be searched in such manner.
While narrating her experience she said:

"I was told to strip after already scanning my ticket into the ground, but after refusing, I was then searched in the usual way with dirty gloves over my t-shirt and gloves. At the next security point, I was again told that I had not been properly searched, but I refused to be searched any further and eventually got into the stadium. I saw other girls being undressed completely, including underwear."
"I encourage all the girls who were forced to UnCloth, violating their constitutional rights by offending their honor and dignity, to apply to the official fan club of Spartak and Moscow for legal aid. The more statement from us, the more likely it is the police will treat us with respect. Do not stay away. This applies to all."

While the secretary of the Russian League Alexander Meitin confirmed that the league and Spartak have both complained over the rough treatment the female fans received, the president of the Republic of Tararstan, Rustam Minnikhanov doesn't see anything wrong with the act.
And has told the fans that they should expect similar treatment in the future.
Minnikhanov said: "All actions taken by the police were tough but absolutely legal. And the next time this situation arises, the Tararstan police will do the same thing."

Victor Wanyama was saved on pitch angry fans target Southampton midfielder after Kenya fail to qualify for African Nations Cup.
Kenyan fans invaded the pitch at full time after a 0-0 draw, with Wanyama's side having already lost the first leg 1-0.
Not sure why Wanyama was targeted but Police stepped up to escort the Southampton midfielder from the pitch and Kenya's coach, Adel Amrouche, was sacked immediately after the game.

Manchester City's Micah Richards took a penalty that was so bad he had to apologize for it.
The defender stepped up to take a penalty in the shoot-out as City's match against Olympiacos which ended in a draw 2-2. But rather than thump the ball into the net, the 26-year-old succeeded in firing it so high over the bar that it made people genuinely suspect that he'd forgotten the rules of football.
Richard himself apologized for the penalty via Twitter.

The Seychelles have forfeited their African Cup Nations qualifying tie against Sierra Leone after refusing the West African nation's team entry over Ebola virus fears.
Sierra Leone, which has declared a state of emergency to quarantine victims of the deadly disease, were due to face the Seychelles in a playoff second leg of Saturday but in Thursday were denied permission to board a Nairobi to Mahe flight. The Seychelles have since said they will forfeit the game, allowing Sierra Leone to advance to the next round.
Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Korom said: "Sierra Leone is in great fight Failure is not option."

Alejandro Sabella, who led Argentina to the World Cup final in Brazil has left his position as their coach. Eugenio Lopez Sabella's agent said two days before the World Cup final that the coach was unlikely to carry on.
Sabella told reporters two weeks ago:

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to find a new club for Fernando Torres as soon as possible as Chelsea's squad exceed the allowed foreign player quota. Clubs can only register 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in their 25-man and Chelsea currently have 18.
