Chelsea belonged to him even when in the last two years when he wore Galatasaray and Shanghai shirts. It looks like he went for a short holiday then came back."

Lampard wished Fabregas success in his career at Chelsea FC:
"I'd hate to put pressure on him. What I've done at Chelsea will never change. I hope they do well - Cesc and myself have had our battles in the past but I wish him the best because I wish Chelsea all the best."

Sports / Mourinho To Keep Cech And Courtois At Chelsea by dafe303: 9:53am On Jul 24, 2014
Mourinho has declared his intention of keeping both Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea this season even though he clearly knows that he is bound to make one of them extremely unhappy. Although he insists that the decision would make Chelsea supporters happy, stating that the supporters are more importand than the players.
Cech who has been in Chelsea for a decade knows that Courtois return is a threat to his spot in the club.
Courtois, who was on loan to Atletico Madrid played a mighty role for the Liga champions is the favorite to start against Burnley in Chelsea's Premier League opener on August 18.
Mourinho says:
"To have Cech and Courtois, the best young goalkeeper in the World and one of the top three or five experienced keepers, for me and Chelsea it's perfect. There is no story. One will play and Chelsea will be in safe hands for good because both are very good players. The window is the window but I'm so happy with the situation. For a coach the problem is when you don't have good players. Then we're in trouble. We have to make decisions but we're paid to make them and I'm really happy with the situation. Tonight the game for Petr was perfect because he had difficult situations to deal with. He had the cross at the far post where he had to stretch his shoulder, another where he had to punch under contact, one off the floor to test his shoulder. He had situations he needed. He's shown that completely recovered."
Mourinho watched Cech make an impresssive return from a serious shoulder injury in a pre-season friendly against RZ Pellets WAC.
We just have to watch and see which of the two players becomes very unhappy at the end of the season

Sports / Chelsea Can Dominate Premier League For A Decade - Jose Mourinho by dafe303: 7:21pm On Jul 23, 2014
After the signing of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Louis, Chelsea's boss believes that the Blues can dominate for a decade.
In a press conference at Chelsea's hotel in Velden, on Tuesday Mourinho said:
"A team which has been a winning team for ten seasons is changing step by step, we've bought new players and we are trying to build for the next decade. Last year we reached the semi-finals and it was s transitional season."
"We had a very young team at the time but, even so, we reached the semi-finals and were playing to win the competition. This season we think we are going to be stronger, the younger players are more experienced, they are stable and better adapted to fighting for titles. People can speak about other leagues but England is the only country where five or six teams can win the title. Football is about competitiveness every weekend and that only happens in the Premier League. When you have the two Manchester Clubs, the three clubs from London - Tottenham, Arsenal and ourselves - plus Liverpool, that's six top teams, where all of them can win the title. That's why everybody loves the Premier League. At Chelsea, if we didn't think we could win the league, or didn't think we had the quality to do it, we wouldn't be here working so hard. We respect our opponents and their ambitions, because they have the same ambitions as us, but we want to win the Premier League and we are ready for that."

Sports / Young English Footballers Are 'spoiled' - Harry Redknapp by dafe303: 12:12pm On Jul 20, 2014
QPR boss, Harry Redknapp believes England's promising youngsters are failing to be the star they can actually be, because they get too much too soon.
With pictures of Wilshere smoking a cigarette on his summer break, Sunderland striker Connor Wickham spending £17,500 on a bottle of champagne on his own break emerging and young players having off-field issues that could be have been avoided.
Redknapp says:
"I don't know if it's the mentality because they get so much so early. I saw a kid the other week buying £17,000 worth of champagne, what's that about? Let's be honest, he would't know an Asti Spumante from a £10,000 bottle of champagne - like I wouldn't, it's a load of cobblers. From where we have come from what would we know? I want lads that want to have a go, you just have to hope you can get them. You can take chances with too many foreign players in the main I like players that have played in England and have proved they can do it here rather than wait six months to see if they settle in we haven't got six months. We need to stay in the League this year so we know what we are getting with the Caulkers and the Rios. We are looking at another England striker so if I can get British Players in the main then I will."
West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison on loan last season - another player who has been held back by off-field issues.

Sports / Five Teams Can Win The Premier League Title - Jose Mourinho by dafe303: 3:00pm On Jul 19, 2014
Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho is confident his assembled squad have what it takes to win the Premier League title next season but he's also aware that dreams of winning the title can be shattered at any time.
Chelsea took advantage of the summer transfer market and brought in Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Mario Pasalic. However, Mourinho understands the race of winning the title won't be easy as other title contenders have also strengthened their armory.
Speaking in BT Sport Q&A session, Mourinho said:
"Last year if you had asked me in July, I would never have said Man United would be outside the top four. This season I will tell you one (to miss out) and I have a big percentage of making a mistake. There were good teams last season and there will be better teams this season because everyone is investing. A few years ago you make a team to be champions and most probably you are champions. Now if you make a team to be champions, you try to finish in the top four. Why I like the Premier League so much is that at this moment, nobody knows who is going to win the title. I know that we want to and I know that we can, but it is the kind of competition where I can't say. At this moment, I think between us Liverpool, Arsenal, Man United, Man City - who is going to be first, who is going to play in the Europa League, I don't know. I have to say my club did a fantastic job and not just because we did it in almost record time. The transfer market closes 31 August and we close our market July 19. We finished the market today. The club did fantastic, we knew the targets, we knew the players and the clubs a very early stage. We got exactly what we need and what we want. The squad is one which I like very much and I look forward to starting the season. I don't think so (sign any more players). The market is open, but we are so happy with what we have."
But really do you think Liverpool will be among the title contenders next season? I think they will try to be but I don't see them being in the top four, because there is no Suarez and the they just might not be able to handle the fixtures for next season. Since they will be playing champions league they would not have as much resting time as they did last season.

Sports / Why I Gave Messi The Golden Ball Award - Houllier by dafe303: 11:08am On Jul 19, 2014
Gerald Houllier, who is a member of the FIFA technical committee, has explained why Messi was given the Golden Ball award.
I know a lot of us was very surprised when Messi was handed the award and a lot felt that Messi didn't deserve the prize, but here is what Houllier had to say about the award.
Mundo Deportivo reports Houllier saying:
I understand you all are surprised as you only remember the second half of Lionel Messi in the final. We committee looked at all three games and judged who was most important for their team. He also played in the final, which is one of the conditions for the award of the prize. Messi was more than decisive in the first four games. In the semi-final against the Netherlands he took the first penalty and scored. The analysis takes into account tat he was captain of a united team that played well together. That's something not seen in a while for Argentina. Messi was more than key in the national team and the way he played. To me, he fully deserves the Golden Ball award and he led his team to the final."
The Barcelona forward scored four in three group games but didn't find the target again in the tournament as Argentina finished as runners up.

Sports / Manchester United TV Channel Slams David Moyes Era In Advert For New Season by dafe303: 2:00pm On Jul 18, 2014
As 'The chosen one' banner appears amid a darkened, stormy sky, a Scottish sound, 'Football, bloody hell.
What the hell was that all about?'
A woman then has her say, 'I was ashamed of them'. The on-screen text is equally damning, 'Following a season of season discontent' it reads. The banner, wearing the face of David Moyes, crumples to the backdrop of thunder and lightening.
'Trust me, we'll be back, a foreign voice adds as the United players emerge from the clouds with the message 'A new storm is breaking'.
Ryan Giggs then says, 'keep supporting us and the good times will come back soon'.
While the statutes of Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson stand guard, Giggs and LVG are cast in the troubled sky, 'The Master & Apprentice'.
The neon, red lettering of 'Manchester United' breaks through the bloom, 'Start to rebuild a dynasty'.

The message is clear, Louis Van Gaal and Giggs intend to rebuild that which Moyes brought down but can he?

Sports / Every World Cup Winner Since 1974 Goes Home With A Gold Plated Replicated Trophy by dafe303: 11:49am On Jul 14, 2014
Well I wasn't aware that the much coveted trophy doesn't head back to the winner's home soil.
As German players posed with, kissed and hoisted one of the most coveted trophies in all of sport, it's a fair assumption that many of the players had no idea their time with the historic 18-carat gem was running short.
Just a few minutes after the German celebrations on the pitch ended, FIFA whisked away the trophy Germany worked so hard to win and locked it away.
Germany isn't the first team to go home with a replica, every winner of the World Cup since 1974 have all walked away with the replicas. The reason is that the trophy isn't only coveted by the players but also by thieves.
As at 2010, Cash4Gold said the trophy was worth upwards of $10 million and its value continues to rise as the value of gold rises. The trophy has been stolen twice and once saved from thievery.
