Yes, the credibility has been eroded. She didn't lie to law enforcement (another reason jungle justice should not be encouraged, because mob act on impulse and not facts). It's now up to the law enforcement agencies to come and handle the matter diligently and also determine if the witness too is also lying, and issue appropriate punishment or fines.
