My bro, courtship is the best. I can say arguably that most cases of divorce that we have now is centred on incompatibility of the couple. They failed to fully understand their characters before marriage. What if my partner is the lazy type? what if my partner to be can't cook? Its during courtship that these things are revealed. Also a guy/lady can pretend for 6 months and after marriage, return to his/her behaviour. Some behaviours cant be revealed in short time but in long term relationship.

I have a cousin, who met the first guy she got married to on the stairway at UBA head office in Marina Lagos. They got talking and dated for 6 months and married afterwards in December 2008. Today they're no longer together. The lady is my cousin and she complained bitterly of ill-treatment from the guy. They separated sometime in 2010. So many cases abound like that. You must court for at least 1.5 years before marriage

But it does happen...
I guess the major problem is d fact that most people have ignore d God-factor and we are now using our senses

Courtship can be long if you haven't found your way around stuff like financial security. Because I believe when you say you love someone, you understand what love is and can marry that person asap.

toba: when pple claim to be in love, such love must really be tested. I believe so much in courtship and such courtship must last for as long as reasonable. You dont just meet someone in Jan2013 and plan to marry same in June 2013. The love must be tested

I am not saying courtship is not necessary, but the duration is not what guarantees a happy and lasting marriage.

One can court 4 ten(10) years and do all "love-test" and it may fail.
