Court Orders Remand of Suspected Quack Public Relations Practitioner
A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Apo, on Thursday, ordered the remand of one Negedu Patrick Siaka for allegedly parading himself as a public relations consultant and trainer.
He was arraigned before Hon. Justice Bello Justice Kawu on three-count charges bordering on impersonation, fraud and forgery.
The police had in November, 2024, apprehended the 66 years old Siaka in the Wuse area of Abuja following an intelligence report.
He had allegedly staged a training programme where he extorted money from unsuspecting members of the public, posing as a Nigerian Institute of Public Relations-accredited trainer and consultant.
Siaka was also found in the illegal possession of letterheads and other insignia of the Institute. Further investigations revealed that he is neither a member of NIPR nor authorised to organise such training.
The prosecuting counsel, Barr. Okokon Mbruk opposed an oral application to grant the defendant bail, insisting that the offence which is criminal in nature requires a surety who would deposit a sum of money as security.
Counsel to the defendant, Barr. F.M Isong argued that his client, resident in Lagos has been on police administrative bail and has never failed to honour any invitation despite his health condition.
The court ordered the remand of the suspect in Kuje Correctional Centre till February 25, 2026 when it will rule on his bail application.
NIPR which regulates the practice of public relations in the country has repeatedly frowned at the activities of impersonators bringing the Institute's name to disrepute.

🗳️ Race for AMAC: Six Titans, One Chair — Who Will Shape Abuja’s Urban Future?
The political heat is rising in Nigeria’s capital territory as the race for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship takes center stage today. With the 2026 council elections holding today, six dynamic figures from different political and professional backgrounds are locked in a high-stakes contest for who will occupy the driver’s seat of one of the most influential local governments in Nigeria.
This election isn’t just about personalities — it’s a referendum on ideologies, youth inclusion, grassroots accountability, and governance models.
Let’s meet the contenders whose names will soon echo through ballots, barbershops, churches, and social media across the FCT.
✊🏾 ADC: Dr. Moses Paul – The Conscience of the Streets
Better known as Dr. Mo, this charismatic social entrepreneur and civic organizer is the ADC’s flagbearer. As the founder of the Free Nigeria Movement, Dr. Paul helped galvanize public resistance during the EndSARS protests and the 2023 push for electoral justice.
His campaign — pulsing with the slogan “We Don Taya!” — taps into a collective frustration with broken systems. With an influential endorsement from Peter Obi and Atiku, Dr. Paul now commands respect beyond party lines and has become a symbol of activist governance.
His X-Factor: Dr. Paul brings moral authority, youth energy, and deep grassroots organizing experience. He’s pushing a bottom-up revolution in AMAC governance — centered on transparency, citizen engagement, e-governance, and human capital investment. He is the political voice of civic frustration — and a bridge between Nigeria’s disillusioned youth and institutional power.
🏗️ APC: Christopher Zakka Maikalangu – The Incumbent With Concrete Evidence
As the current AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu knows the system from the inside out. His tenure has witnessed expansion in road networks, construction of rural health centers, and improvements in waste management.
With the APC’s massive machinery and his incumbency advantage, Maikalangu is anchoring his re-election campaign on continuity and consolidation.
His Message: “Let the work continue.”
His X-Factor: A proven track record. Maikalangu is leaning on experience, political structure, and government connections. His campaign is built around finishing what he started — with promises of scaling public infrastructure, deepening inter-agency synergy, and sustaining AMAC’s stability.
🔄 PDP: Zadna Dintani – The Alternative with a Legacy Machine
Representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zadna Dintani is offering AMAC voters an experienced hand with a fresh plan. His political roots run deep in the FCT’s PDP machinery, and he brings with him a formidable legacy of mobilization and strategic coalition-building.
His X-Factor: Dintani’s strength lies in party loyalty and strategic depth. He is poised to channel voters’ fatigue with the APC into a fresh momentum for reform. His campaign is focused on correcting policy gaps, ensuring inclusive governance, and revamping grassroots engagement.
🚀 YPP: Robert Madaki – The Digital Disruptor
Young, visionary, and digital-first, Robert Madaki is waving the YPP flag with an agenda that speaks directly to Abuja’s youth. His message? It’s time to stop recycling leaders and start rebooting governance.
His X-Factor: Madaki’s campaign is data-driven and social-media savvy, with a clear emphasis on youth employment, tech-driven service delivery, and inclusive innovation. If the youth turn out en masse, he could trigger one of the biggest political surprises in AMAC history.
🎤 SDP: Dr. Obinna Simon (MC Tagwaye) – The People’s Comedian, The People’s Candidate
A household name across Nigeria, MC Tagwaye — real name Dr. Obinna Simon — is best known for his comedic impersonation of President Buhari. But now, the mic is off, and the mandate is on.
Transitioning from stage to statecraft, Dr. Simon is campaigning on authentic grassroots connection. He combines mass appeal, emotional intelligence, and sharp wit to engage voters like no other candidate.
But beyond the humor, lies a serious movement:
✅ The Igbo community in Abuja has thrown its weight behind their illustrious son, viewing his candidacy as a source of cultural pride and political relevance. ✅ The Northern communities in AMAC have adopted Dr. Obinna as one of their own — embracing his inclusive style and pan-Nigerian message. ✅ The youth — disenchanted by political gatekeeping — are undeniably rallying behind the entertainer-turned-hopeful, drawn by his relatability, simplicity, and grassroots credibility.
His X-Factor: Charisma, connection, and clarity. Dr. Obinna Simon is running not just on promises, but on emotional resonance — capable of translating complex governance issues into relatable stories. His campaign speaks the language of the people — in humor, in hope, and in the hunger for real change.
⚖️ AMAC 2026: A Battle of Visions, Not Just Votes
This is more than a local government election. This is a defining moment for the soul of Abuja’s governance.
Will it be:
✊🏾 Activist governance with Dr. Moses Paul (ADC)
🏗️ Continuity and structure with Maikalangu (APC)
🔄 A political reset with Zadna Dintani (PDP)
🚀 A youth-powered reboot with Robert Madaki (YPP)
🎤 Grassroots people power with Dr. Obinna Simon (SDP)
In 2026, AMAC’s 1.5 million residents are not just choosing a chairman — they’re choosing a leadership philosophy, a voice for their communities, and the shape of Abuja’s urban future.
The campaign drums are beating. The youth are awake. The streets are watching. And AMAC’s next chapter is ready to be written — at the ballot box.

"I'm Still Alive, Daniel Oniko," Denies Death Rumour
A financial expert and the Group Managing Director/CEO of PAROFUND Multipurpose Cooperative, Daniel Odoviano Oniko has denied death rumour, saying he is hale and hearty, urging members of the public to ignore the story.
This follows an online publication titled, "Parofund Founder and Ex-Heritage Bank Executive Daniel Oniko Dies in Late 2025," in reference to Oniko, who also heads APICES Finance Company Limited.
However, PAROFUND, in a statement on Thursday, said its founder is alive and in good spirits, charting new frontiers for the growth of his business interest across the globe.
In the statement signed by the company's Director of Corporate Communications, Isreal Edobor, PAROFUND said the publication was a clear case of misinformation and failure of the media organization to do a simple journalistic task of verifying the information before rushing to the press.
Edobor said the death being referred to in the publication was that of Oniko’s cousin, Mr. Daniel Okeoghene Oniko, who passed away in December 2025 at the age of 57.
"The report that the founder of PAROFUND Multipurpose Cooperative Limited and Apice Finance Company Limited, Daniel O. Oniko has died, was a malicious misinformation and utter falsehood aimed at misleading members of the public.
"For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Daniel Okeoghene Oniko, a cousin to our CEO, had on December 13 joined his ancestors after a very brief illness, ending his life journey at the age of 57. He is not the same as the founder of PAROFUND Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited and Apices Finance Company Limited. The public must be aware of this.
"The name mix-up may have spanned from the name mix-up. Mr. Daniel Odoviano Oniko (the PAROFUND AND APICES CEO) is alive and kicking. He is not the same as late Mr. Daniel Okeoghene Oniko. The two are cousins from the illustrious Oniko Dynasty family of Irri Kingdom, Isoko Delta state.
"Our clients all over the world, the finance community, and the general public are therefore urged to disregard the rumour as our disruptive founder, Mr. Daniel Odoviano Oniko is alive and in good health, "the statement says.
His PAROFUND is regarded as one of the fastest-growing cooperative movements in the country and had recently introduced a Contributory and Micro-Credit Scheme aimed at empowering individuals, families, and small businesses across the country.
The initiative started a few years ago, January 1, 2024 , and they promised promising to reshape how Nigerians save, access credit, and build financial independence while strengthening the sense of community that cooperatives are known for.

2027: Segun Showunmi Declares to Run for Ogun State Governorship
A foremost political leader, Otunba Segun Showunmi has formally declared his interest in contesting the Ogun State governorship election in 2027, positioning himself as a seasoned political leader whose years of sacrifice, preparation, and party loyalty have equipped him for the task of governance.
In a social media post, Showunmi said his decision was driven by a deep sense of responsibility to the people of Ogun State and a conviction that leadership must be built on character, patience, and readiness rather than just ambition.
Widely regarded as voice of the youths and a bridge-builder across political divides, Showunmi’s political journey has been marked by years of active engagement at state and national levels.
He has served in various strategic capacities within party structures, participated in policy conversations, and remained consistently involved in political organisation and grassroots mobilisation.
Observers point to his conduct during the 2023 Ogun State governorship election as a defining moment in his leadership journey. Despite personal preparations and strong grassroots support, Showunmi took the uncommon step of shelving his own ambition and urging his supporters to work for the collective interest of his party.
The decision, though costly and controversial at the time, earned him recognition as a politician guided by discipline, party loyalty, and long-term vision.
Political analysts say that choice underscored his belief in timing and institutional stability, principles he has often emphasized in public engagements. Close associates say Showunmi has consistently argued that rushing into power without proper alignment weakens governance and undermines public trust.
With his 2027 declaration, Showunmi says the sacrifices of the past years have prepared him for the complexity of governing Ogun State.
He highlights his experience in managing political disagreements, building consensus, and placing institutional strength above personal interest as key assets he intends to bring to office if elected.
“Ogun State deserves leadership that understands the people’s pain, respects process, and is prepared to make hard decisions in the public interest,” he said.
As political activities ahead of 2027 gradually gather momentum, supporters describe Showunmi as a leader shaped by patience and strengthened by experience, while party stakeholders see his declaration as the beginning of a more issue-driven conversation about the future of the Gateway State.

In 2017, during the public collapse of her marriage to businessman Olakunle Oladunni Churchill, Dikeh had posted an image of a laboratory drug screening result on her Instagram page, which was widely reported at the time as showing negative results for several substances. The post was shared in response to rumours that drug use contributed to the breakdown of the marriage.
Similar reactions were recalled during her highly publicised relationship with former boyfriend Prince Kpokpogri in 2021. At the time, Dikeh publicly rejected insinuations of drug abuse and stated she was willing to undergo a drug test to clear her name amid online accusations.
As part of the rising conversation, netizens also dig up an Instagram Story posted by Kpokpogri during his breakup with the actress, in which he publicly commended Dikeh’s ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, referring to him as “a man.” The post, which circulated widely during the dispute, has again drawn attention as online users reassess past relationship narratives in light of the actress’s recent confession.
While some commenters argue that the confession provides additional context to previous controversies and marriage issues, others maintain she has truly repented as is now a born again Christian.

Rejoinder: INEC's Position Exposes Internal Documentation Gaps, Not Accord Party's Failure
The attention of the leadership of the Accord Party (Prof. Chris Imumolen–led faction) has been drawn to the recent publication by The Punch titled “INEC disowns factional Accord Party gov primary in Osun.”
While we respect the role of the media and the statutory responsibilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), it is important to set the records straight and clarify critical facts deliberately or inadvertently omitted.
First, the claims attributed to INEC clearly expose internal inefficiencies and weak document control mechanisms within the Commission, rather than any failure on the part of Accord Party. The Party duly complied with the law by submitting the required notification of its governorship primary to the INEC Headquarters, in line with the Electoral Act. Evidence of submission exists, including a received and acknowledged copy, which remains on record.
If such communication was not internally relayed or properly processed within INEC, that administrative lapse cannot, in law or logic, be blamed on the Party. The minimum requirement under the law is notification and acknowledgment—not internal circulation within INEC, which remains the Commission’s sole responsibility.
Secondly, it is deeply concerning that the same INEC that now questions internal party processes has consistently failed to comply with a valid and subsisting court order. In October 2024, the FCT High Court unequivocally recognized Prof. Chris Imumolen as the National Chairman of Accord Party. To date, INEC has refused or neglected to fully give effect to this judicial pronouncement.
This selective compliance raises serious questions about institutional bias and the activities of certain elements within INEC who have repeatedly positioned themselves against the democratic interests of ordinary Nigerians and political parties operating within the law.
Furthermore, the leadership dispute within Accord Party is already before a competent court, with the matter scheduled for hearing on 8th January, where the issue of rightful leadership will be conclusively determined—despite the existence of a prior court order already recognizing the Prof. Chris Imumolen–led leadership.
It is therefore premature, misleading, and legally unsustainable for INEC to take public positions that prejudge a matter already before the courts, especially while remaining in contempt of an existing judgment.
The Accord Party reiterates its commitment to:
* Due process * Rule of law * Internal democracy * Peaceful and lawful political engagement
We call on INEC to urgently strengthen its internal documentation, communication, and compliance systems, uphold court orders, and desist from actions that undermine public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process.
Nigeria’s democracy must not be sacrificed on the altar of administrative inefficiency or institutional bias.
Accord Party to Hold Authentic Governorship Primaries in Osogbo Today
The Accord Party is set to conduct its authentic governorship primaries today, 14th December 2025, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, under the leadership of the legally recognized national chairman, Professor Chris Imumolen.
The primaries are scheduled to hold at Regina Suite Hotel, Osogbo, where accredited delegates, party officials, and observers are expected to be in attendance.
This development follows what party stakeholders have described as a kangaroo primaries allegedly conducted by Mr. Maxwell Ndubem, who claims to be the party’s national chairman but remains legally unrecognized. That exercise reportedly featured the participation of Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Ademola Adeleke, popularly known as the “Dancing Governor.”
According to findings and internal party records, the Professor Chris Imumolen–led faction, which enjoys legal backing, has resolved to organize a lawful and constitutionally compliant primaries to ensure that Accord Party fields a valid and credible candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Party officials raised concerns over the eligibility of Governor Adeleke, noting that he was **not a member of the Accord Party until a few days before the disputed primaries. More critically, they argue that his alignment with a faction not recognized by law renders any ticket emerging from that exercise invalid and vulnerable to disqualification
Speaking on the decision, Professor Chris Imumolen stated that the Osogbo primaries, holding at Regina Suite Hotel, are aimed at preserving the integrity of the party, safeguarding its constitutional rights, and ensuring that Accord Party does not lose the opportunity to present a legally valid candidate in the 2026 governorship race.
“We are committed to due process and the rule of law. Accord Party must not be shut out of the 2026 election because of irregularities and illegality,” he said.
The party leadership emphasized that the Osogbo primaries represent the only lawful process capable of producing a candidate acceptable to INEC, warning that failure to correct the anomalies surrounding the disputed primaries could jeopardize the party’s participation in the 2026 gubernatorial election.

Hon. Olorunjun Felix Idowo, described the initiative as a welcome development, emphasizing the relevance of the movement’s “Project 1 for 10” strategy in galvanizing citizens toward building the Nigeria they desire.

In her remarks, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Alhaja Karimot Amope Akinpelu, pledged the full participation of women across the country. She affirmed that women will stand alongside men and the youth to mobilize massive support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, adding that the movement has already activated grassroots structures in the Southwest.
With all logistics in place, CAGrAM says the December 16 summit will bring together community leaders, youth groups, women mobilizers, policymakers and political stakeholders for what it describes as a “national conversation on grassroots strength, unity, and forward planning.”
The movement expressed confidence that the summit will set the tone for a stronger and more coordinated grassroots engagement as the nation moves toward the 2027 elections.
