Beauty Queen, Ebere Chukwujekwu Makes List Of Top Performers At Face of Nigeria 2024
A 27-year-old graduate of Theatre Arts, University of Abuja, Queen Ebere Joy Chukwujekwu has made the list of top five in the recently concluded Face of Nigeria Beauty pageant 2024.
The Anambra born thespian who hails from a family of six emerged as the 4th runner up in the final which was held virtually.
The keenly contest pageant lasted from July 5- August 31 2024 and voting held on September 19, 2024.
Following a massive support, she came 4th and hopes to use the office to project human interest campaigns.
She joined the final crowning on September 25 virtually at Kristal Digital Photography located in : Abule Ado Lagos Nigeria.
Ebere Joy Chukwujekwu was a former volunteer at Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation in the anti-malaria campaign.
She has participated in several workshop both in my undergraduate, professional career and working life, attended conferences across the country.
She is also involved in mentorship of young girls to help them attain their full potential.
In celebration of World Food Day 2024, Dr. Ogenna Walter Ekwubiri, founder of the Motivating African Youths Initiative and CEO of Havillah Walter Company, has called for urgent action to address the intertwined crises of water scarcity and food insecurity.
The global theme for this year’s World Food Day, “Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind,” underscores the essential role of water in sustaining life and ensuring food security.
Speaking from her office, Dr. Ekwubiri emphasized the need for a collective response, particularly in vulnerable communities like Makoko, where despite the abundance of water, access to clean water and nutritious food remains a daily struggle.
“In communities like Makoko, where water is abundant yet clean water and food remain scarce, the challenges of daily survival are real.
“Today, we are committed to standing with the people of Makoko through food distribution efforts, aiming to provide nourishment and hope to families in need”, Ekwubiri said.
Ekwubiri’s initiative, Motivating African Youths Initiative, has been at the forefront of social welfare programs aimed at empowering young people and addressing key challenges such as hunger and poverty in underserved areas. In her statement, she urged governments, organizations, and individuals to join hands in fighting hunger and ensuring equitable access to food and water for all.
“This is a day to remind ourselves that no one should be left behind in the fight against hunger.
“I urge governments, organizations, and individuals to take action toward ensuring that access to food and water becomes a reality for all”, she stated.
Ekwubiri’s message also echoed a call to action for the global community, reminding people of their collective responsibility to support the most vulnerable.
“Together, we can build a world where no family goes hungry, and every community thrives,” she concluded.
Notable Igbo sons and daughters including lovers of traditional folktales have come out in their large numbers to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Igbo at the stage play of the movie "Nma Oha", which means the beauty of the people.
The movie which stars A-list actors is a captivating story with powerful exploration of unity and preservation of the heritage of Ndigbo. It also harps on the need for peaceful co-existence among the country's ethnic divides.
Top among those who graced the stage play at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja was the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye.
The Minister who also put up a surprising performance at stage in a movie role applauded the movie which has an engaging and educative storyline.
"I'm happy to be part of this great artistic work to mark the Independence of our country and to show the world how much of a united people we are.
"I commend the creativity embedded in this art work and I encourage movie producers to focus more on such movies that replicate who we truly are as a people and works that enhance our reputation in the outside world", she said.
Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Sen. Ned Nwoko has also joined the long list of prominent Nigerian leaders to hail the rich storyline of the movie and fine interpretation of roles the various cast members displayed.
Also present the colourful stage play event were former Anambra North Senator, Stella Oduah, FCTA Mandate Secretary Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, HRM, Prof Igwe Ochendo Ogidi-Igbo JP and a host of other distinguished Individuals.
Speaking, a renowned entertainment promoter and principal partner of the movie, the CEO One Percent, Amb. Stephanie Nnadi said the movie will be in series, which will also include cultural heritage of people from other parts of the country, including Yoruba and Hausa.
She said the movie serves as a reminder on what she Igbo cultural values stand for, so that it could be upheld.

Stakeholders Urge More Investment In Culture, Support For Youths, Social Development at pre-carnival gala lighting up of the Abuja iBelieve Carnival

Edo Guber: How Accord Party Was Sold Out — Chieftain
A chieftain of Accord Party, Dr. Sam Imagwe has alleged that his party failed to make any significant impact in the Saturday governorship election in Edo State, alleging that it was sold out for personal gain.
Speaking with journalists in Benin, Dr. Imagwe said it was not surprising that the party went the same route it has been going in the past 16 year, opting for negotiations with big parties just to be paid off.
He accused the leadership of the party in Edo which was in place before the court declared Prof. Chris Imumolen as the national leader of corruption, wondering why a governorship candidate will step down just to support another candidate.
"This has always been the practice of those who were at the helm of affairs of Accord Party before now, and indeed other smaller parties.
"They field a candidate, not with the intention of trying their popularity at the polls, but with the hope of stepping down at 11th hour and go into negotiations.
"This shenanigan has made a lot Nigerians lose confidence in smaller parties and it is most unfortunate that Accord Part has joined in that fray. Under this kind of arrangement, how can we have a robust opposition", he queried.
He accused the past leadership of the party at the national level of supervising the failure of the party to make impact in the governorship election in Edo, expressing hope that the Prof. Imumolen-led national leadership will right the wrongs of the past.
"Prof. Chris Imumolen has come to rescue the party with dynamism, energy and vigour. With just few weeks on the saddle, you can see what he is doing.
"The recent distribution of palliatives and relief materials in Borno state among flood victims, things known to be done by bigger parties is very strategic.
"It speaks to humanity, leadership and political activism and I am hopeful that under him, Accord Party will be elevated to serious national relevance" he added.
The National Chairman of Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen has identified with victims of flood disaster in Borno state, North East Nigeria.
The Accord Party leader through his non-governmental organisation, PCI Foundation distributed food items to about 3,000 persons affected by the flooding in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The recent flooding in Borno submerged several residential homes, displacing tens of thousands of residents and causing zoo animals to escape into the streets.
According to authorities, about 30 people’s lives have been claimed by the Maiduguri flash flood, with over a million persons affected. UN puts the total number of displaced persons at 414,000.
The incident is said to have been caused by the collapse of the Alau dam on the Ngadda River in the State last week.
Speaking in Maiduguri during the distribution of relief items, Mr. Samshudeen Adamu the National Coordinator of PCI Foundation said the gesture is borne out of the goodwill of Prof. Chris Imumolen to identify with the people of Borno at these difficult times.
While expressing the sympathy of Prof. Imumolen to those who have lost their means of livelihood following the disaster, he called on relevant agencies of government to ensure safe evacuation of victims and take proactive measures to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases.
In his remarks, a former Deputy Director of Town Planning of Ministry of Land and Survey, Hon. Abdullahi Ntakai thanked PCI Foundation for its sense of humanity which he said will also build the bridge of love among Nigeria's ethnic nationalities.

Professional or Licence Certification Not Compulsory For Entry Into Civil, Public Service — HoS
A circular has emerged where the immediate past Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan instructed that only academic qualifications are required for entry into the country's civil and public service.
The circular dated 12th April, 2021 was written after a meeting of the National Council on Establishment in Lagos.
The circular personally signed by Yemi-Esan reads in part, "The National Council on Establishment (NCE) at its 42nd meeting held from 30th November - 4th December 2020 in Ikeja, Lagos state resolved that professional certificates shall no longer serve as entry qualifications into any cadre in the Civil/Public Service. Consequently, only academic qualifications such as Junior and Senior Secondary School Certificates (WASC/SSCE), NECO, GCE, ND, NCE, HND, University degrees and postgraduate degrees shall apply".
This is in response to insistence by professional bodies that that certification is compulsory for entry into civil/public service.
Reacting to the development, the ~whatever~ of ~Ukulele kingdom~, Engr. ~Zero Tolerance~ commended the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation for stating the facts clearly, accusing some professional bodies of harassing jobseekers with demand to acquire their certification.
According to him, academic qualifications are enough for people to secure employment both at public and private establishments, noting that professional certificates can only be added advantage and not compulsory.
He said a lot of persons do not know their labour rights, urging them to take advantage of the policy by the federal government to excel in their careers without being limited by obnoxious demands by professional bodies.

Tinubu’s Administration Targets Women Empowerment with Agricultural Initiative in Edo State
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South-South, Hon. Gift Johnbull, has emphasized that achieving food security through agricultural development is a key priority in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight-point agenda, with a focus on enhancing agricultural production.
Hon. Johnbull disclosed this during the flag-off of the agricultural initiative, ‘Project Earn From The Soil,’ and the domestication of the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy in Auchi, Edo State.
The initiative was previously launched in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states, with the Federal Government targeting over 500,000 smallholder farmers, fisherfolk, agribusinesses, and coastal communities across the South-South region.
Speaking at the Edo State launch, Hon. Johnbull conveyed the President's commitment, stating that the initiative would differ from previous government projects. "This will not be like other government projects where the benefits are enjoyed abroad. This time, the President himself is fully committed to ensuring that our women in Edo State, especially in Edo North, are empowered."
She highlighted the importance of empowering women in Edo State and across the South-South region, noting the region's wealth in resources and potential. "This region, with its six states and 123 local government areas, is rich in resources and potential, and I am honored to serve its people," Hon. Johnbull said. She emphasized that the project aligns with the President’s vision of promoting food security, encouraging the cultivation of local produce, and diversifying the economy beyond oil and gas.
The Agric initiative focuses on several key areas: forming cooperatives at the local government level based on the agricultural commodities grown by women, providing direct financial support and agricultural inputs to enhance productivity, and emphasizing subsistence agriculture while supporting individual farmers. Unlike past programs, the initiative aims to provide tangible resources such as seedlings, cultivating materials, and insecticides, rather than just financial handouts.
The coordinator of the Women Economic Empowerment, Edo North, Pastor Isikpe Kadiri, acknowledged the women's eagerness to participate, noting that even the prospect of progress is enough to make them happy.
She stressed that the key to empowering these women lies in providing them with the financial support they need. "What the women here need is encouragement and the finance to help them grow. If you give them just a little thing to help them, like seedlings, cultivating materials, and insecticides, I tell you, we will have more than enough to export."
The launch was met with great enthusiasm from other dignitaries, women of Edo State, who have expressed their readiness to engage fully in the new empowerment program.
Fuel Hike, Scarcity Created By Years Of Bad Governance Not Minister's Fault - Ohaneze Youth Wing
The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has said the recent hike in petroleum pump price is as a result of several years of bad administration in the sector, absolving the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri of any blame.
The Ohanaeze Youth Wing said poor administration of the sector for years, which saw all the refineries in the country dormant for 28 years impacted stability, insisting that it is not a challenge that will be solved overnight.
In a statement on Thursday, the National Youth Leader, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu said the decay of infrastructure, especially pipelines and failure to manage storage facilities to support the efficient operation of the oil and gas sector have all resulted in the enormous problems Nigerians are faced with in terms of pricing and affordability.
He said, "Nigerians must ignore the narrative that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) is responsible for the challenges they are facing at the moment. In as much we believe that some steps may ought to have been taken to mitigate these challenges, it must be put on record that the Minister is not solely responsible for the high cost of petroleum products, the scarcity and the economic hardship that has come along with it.
"There is a need for the repositioning of the oil industry especially by investigating the activities of the military and it's oversights in the oil sector before calling on the sack of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Lokpobiri Heineken."
The group has also pleaded with the federal government to look into the sufferings and hardship which the recent fuel price hike has created.
He added that, the need to revert new fuel prices is apparent as Nigerians may be unable to survive the tide.
"We believe that to solve this problem, the government must begin to reverse the trends and right the wrongs of the past. It will begin with the immediate introduction of measures to revamp and expand domestic refining capacity to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products and enhance energy security.
"Also, the successful completion of rehabilitation of port Harcourt refinery (Mechanical section) is a cheering news, which will not only increase product availability but fight the price instability the consumers have faced.
"Additionally, we do believe that progressive supervision and monitoring of Warri and Kaduna refinery rehabilitation works towards meeting schedule deadlines will be a step in the right direction", he stated.
Ohanaeze youths also called for continuous engagement with IOCs and NOCs in resolving industry disputes towards increasing production, resolutions of internal Joint venture contracts feud between joint ventures partners on critical productions fields, as well as engaging local communities with critical assets running through them to protect the assets all in a bid to decrease oil theft in the country.

Food security: FG flags off agric project in A’Ibom, Targets 500,000 farmers in S’South Region
Acting on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's mandate on food security to cultivate 500,000 hectares of land, promote year-round farming, and encourage consumption of locally grown foods, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South-South, Hon. Gift Johnbull, has flagged off “Project Earn from the soil” and domestication of the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy in Akwa Ibom state.
The agriculture initiative aims to directly benefit 500,000 smallholder farmers, fisherfolk, agribusinesses, and coastal communities in the South-South region, with indirect benefits to 1,000,000 household families.
In her address, the SSA to the president on Community Engagement South-South, Hon. Gift Johnbull, while flagging off the project, revealed that the project will boost food security and create new generation of women agripreneurs, with the ultimate goal of making Akwa Ibom a leader in agricultural production not just in Nigeria, but across West Africa.
“The empowerment of women is not just a goal but a responsibility,” she stated. “It is a responsibility that we must all share—government, private sector, civil society, and the community at large. By working together, we can create an environment where women are no longer just participants in the economy but leaders and innovators who drive growth and development.”
According to her, the WEE Policy, is a comprehensive blueprint aimed at transforming the lives of women in Akwa Ibom by enhancing their access to finance, agriculture, education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities. The policy is expected to lay the foundation for sustainable, inclusive development across the state.
Over 32 cooperative have been registered free across 31 local governments of the state cutting across six values chain of agriculture. Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to president Tinubu’s support to the state.
The Senior Special Assistant also emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the objectives of the WEE Policy and the “Earn From The Soil” project. She urged all stakeholders to harness the power of the state’s land, resources, and people to create a thriving, equitable, and prosperous Akwa Ibom that aligns with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda on food security.
The First Lady of Akwa Ibom state, Patience Umo Eno, represented by the Commissioner for women affairs, Akwa Ibom state, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, said that the project Earn from the soil aligns with the agenda of the state's leadership, particularly the focus on agriculture.
"This project is in line with His Excellency's agenda, which is centered on agriculture. We are confident that this endeavor will empower our women and drive the economic growth of our state," she stated.
The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Akwa Ibom State, Offiong Offor, in her goodwill massage, expressed the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources and support to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.
She encouraged farmers, both women and men, to organize into cooperative groups.
Other representatives from Nexim, Zenith Bank, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), UN Women, and various other organizations committed to advancing the economic prospects of women in the state.

Notable personalities have graced the dinner to unveil the Niger Delta International Festival and Trade Expo organised by KenEva Consult Ltd, KenRich Global Consult Ltd and Brevity Anderson .

Nollywood star, Tonto Dike has been mired in fresh controversy following a credit car purchase from Abuja popular automobile brand, Skyewise Group.
Arising from her failure to complete payment as and when due, the drama queen invaded the office space of the dealer located in the Maitama area of Abuja and had a free-for-all with the company staff, going ahead to destroy multi million naira office fittings, including television sets.
A video of the dishonorable act has since gone viral, attracting severe criticism from social media users.
According to a viral video shared by influencer, Verydarkman, the Nollywood star was said to have purchased an N86m worth of car and made an advance payment of N30m and parted with the luxurious automobile.
According to him, despite her promise of making monthly payments for a period of three months to the dealer till the balance is completely liquidated, she refused and her balance of about N56m remained unpaid.
She was however said to have resumed payment after several persuasion seven months later, but this time in piecemeal.
After over one year, according to the source, the screen diva was still owning about N2m.
Things however went sour when she took the car for servicing from the place of purchase and she was reminded of her outstanding balance.
This did not however go down well with her as she lost her temper and engaged in physical combat with staff of the organization and went on rampage of property destruction.
Several appeal to douse her temper fell on the deaf ear. Even when the company CEO, Dr. Elvis Abuyere arrived, she reached for his jugular, assaulting him.
She followed it up with threat that she is connected and could go away with the act.
Verydarkman also criticized her for not demonstrating a good example as someone who had sought a public office.
Though no official statement has been made by the organization as at press time, as the case has been reported to the Nigerian police and possible legal actions to be taken by Skyewise Automobile company.
Recall that in 2023 election, Tonto Dike a divorcee had sought the office of the deputy governor of Rivers State but lost her bid.
