HughJazz: there need to be a buffer states with the north incase of future invasions and wars. keep ebiras with other middle belt people and support their countries. big countries need buffer countries. so not to have border conflict that can lead to huge wars. Tho some want a wholly Yoruba nation, i have nothing against that, but we can easily avoid the problems of the old Republic with dialogue amongst all. yes you're with us but know you're limit. I don't think fear of war should be basis for turning away potential allies. We Yorubas should be better and show the world we are |

Intrepid01: Weldone guys, what a thought provoking thread this is...I respect you guys views on having a country that is purely for Yoruba.. but the truth we have to tell ourselves is that we need to use the templates of successful countries around the world in building a new nation. ..example America is successful cos of its diversity. US govt for centuries have realised that creating a country on the basis of common interest devoid of ethnic or racial interest accelerates development. I so much believe we do not plan to have another useless state in Africa but one that will compete with the Asean tigers and European greats like Sweden and Norway in no distant future. in my opinion, I think it will be better if we create a country where any group of people that wants to be part is allowed to join irrespective of race, tribe or ethnicity....i am certainly certain that many people of igbo dissent will even prefer to be part of a country formed in Western Nigeria than Biafra. so for other tribes as well I believe[/b]
Trust me a country of inclusion will better serve the Yoruba agenda than a country of exclusive Yorubas...A country that has a Yoruba man; who naturally is an administrator , strategist and a man of Igbo dissent who naturally is an industrialist will easily achieve greatness than a single one....what I am saying is that we should plan for a country for all willing parties and a constitution that gives everyone equal right and opportunities ofcourse with tested allegiance...some might say we are creating a mini Nigeria again...the truth is there is nothing wrong with Nigeria if not that the participants were not allowed to decide on their participation but forced to participate, hence the reason why we are here today. i was feeling you until ur second paragraph, make i pretend i no see am. for the first i believe in diversity too, but the only minority we have to deal with is kogi. Others from middlebelt can go dere own way but I would love it if we keep all of kogi. that state has potential (land, resources et al) |

deedeedee1: Ebiras can form middle-belt republic or whatever with other minorities in the middle belt. lol, geographically we dn buy the Ebiras. was in Kogi for NYSC. Ebiras and okun people are like 5&6. Ebiras dere even speak the okun, trust me those guys are better with us of course dey can have dere own state. lest we want a refugee issue in the future if dey join other middlebelt |

jiangchu: i dont like the idea of a yoruba nation. we yorubas should be more open to the minorities as they feel more comfortable with us than any other major tribe in nigeria. the SS and middle belt will be part of us. and we all are going to write a new constitution that we will all agreed upon. i don't want a tribal country. just want an egalitarian country. a wholly Yoruba nation yes, tho I feel some of the middlebelt can stand alone, we may need to accommodate those who want to but not to our own detriment. The Ebiras now may want to join since the okun people of kogi will be in a Yoruba nation. we can't say no to dem and dey can't stand alone. |

sukkot: Indeed my kind Sir, a yoruba nation military council sounds just about right. and decentralise their power so each person does not know who the man on top is. this will keep them on their toes. well you all have great ideas. lets watch and see yes it may be Military, but they will run it with well vetted civilians. the civilians can work on the needful, the military enforce it. until we can get a true and just Constitution den we proceed to a new Democratic republic |

FisifunKododada: Love this back and forth between you two. I am getting some insights. I actually think 2 senators per state is enough sef. Our goal should be growing the economy not growing the government. why I said 3 is so we can have it like say eg. (lagos west, Lagos east and Lagos Central). having 2 maybe be ok but in the long run it may not offer enough opposition and majority in the Senate floor. in terms of economy, it's still comes to government laws on easy of doing business. Business are over taxed currently. limit personal income tax to the federal. let states have company tax. this will allow state make themselves business friendly. Local Government can tax SMEs and private land use tax. Luxury tax like (huge mansions and luxury cars yatch etc should also be taxed) Definitely more tax to the rich A national mandatory health insurance senior citizens discounts etc see ehn, we have long way to go kudos to you too bruh for ur insights. |

As regards the Nigerian elites dominated most by yorubas, I don't think so, I think the probability is even among all major tribes in the country. Trust me our pple full dere, politics is like our natural resources. we are going to need get rid of alot of our kins in politics and strip them of all their shaddy wealths. make dere children irrelevant in future politics. sins of the father indeed. |

sukkot: hmmm good point. but we have many oduduwa gatekeepers who you have to take down if you want this proposal to see the light of day should in case the need arises for an odua nation. the oduduwa gatekeepers are a strong fraternity. As strong if not stronger than the hausa gatekeepers of the north yea i said a pro-yoruba nation military council can be used to usher us in, but i know it's dangerous but if we can get such, it will be fast and effective |

AkinPhysicist: Interesting. Also, we could make the most mischievous among them ambassadors - send them out of the country, where the would be less likely to do damage. However, things might become a little complicated if we are dealing with a federal system. This is why, the real progressives of Yorubaland must be at the fore-front of writing up the constitution. Lol at sending them abroad, dey will go just go dere and retire in peace. But no rest for the wicked abeg. I really believe in Federal system, we have viable states with resources, dat why i said Lagos shouldn't be Capital so human resources can spread across all states. A Senate (3 from each state) is enough, we won't have more than 30-40. House of rep would be 6 from each state too. states can have exclusive rights to create LGA within a senatorial district. We just need to find away to educate our people on their rights (a version of the Constitution in yoruba) |

sukkot: oh ok, i thought i was recruited to give them an asswhooping lmao. aiittt so back to the constitution. is yall niggas actually thinking about seceding from nigeria ? like for real for real ? why ? oduduwa is nigeria, we dont need to secede nope I don't believe we're here to promote secession, but discuss about our future if and when a Yoruba nation should come. Someone mentioned DAWN(Development Agenda of Western Nigeria) you can look it up |
Politics › Re: Draft Of The Oodua Region Yoruba Constitution by Dalek(m): 10:36pm On Jul 01, 2017 |
AkinPhysicist: Just because you are paranoid does not mean you are not right. I agree with you. We have to be wary of them. We cannot completely sideline them but there are things we can do to considerably minimize their power especially when it comes to the writing of the constitution - this is were it starts. In addition, I am of the opinion that the average Yoruba is a progressive. So, it would be relatively easy for progressives to take on the mantle of leadership of the new nation. Banning certain individuals from the political scene is an option, but that may go against the Constitutional right to vote and be voted for. We can also enshrine in the Constitution that all individuals and political parties of the "old Republic" banned. also any new party must have a political manifesto in line with the political spectrum (left wing and right wing) b4 dey are registered |
Politics › Re: Draft Of The Oodua Region Yoruba Constitution by Dalek(m): 10:19pm On Jul 01, 2017 |
AkinPhysicist: The overriding principle must be: The smoothest possible transition. This is how, I think it should apply to the areas you have raised.
Currency is too sensitive an issue to be done immediately. A gradual phasing in of the new currency should be adopted. And you are right, this is best done in collaboration with our neighbors.
Name change can be done immediately (relatively speaking). After the constitution is written the name change should be able to go into full effect within a year or so.
This is not necessary. In fact could be counter-productive if not properly managed. Our focus should be the constitution. If it is well done and articulated, the structures would be in place to make sure that the old Nigerian mentality does not flourish in the new country.
What is most important is a progressive vision and strong-willed men and women who are fully committed to carry it to fruition. Yes i believe in the Constitution, a well drafted one void of loopholes can go a long way. Having one is not the issue, but the individuals who will draft it. You talked about progressive minds, but you think the political class of the "Old Republic" will simple die out. they will still be here now stuck with us, when not trying to lead they will may be pulling the strings. Who will give the progressive the chance and how can we know them?? i may sound paranoid but i Still think we need a political class rebirth. |

Politics › Re: Draft Of The Oodua Region Yoruba Constitution by Dalek(m): 9:44pm On Jul 01, 2017 |
One thing that has always bother me tho are:
1) Changing our currency: Do we change it immediately without notice like the Indian did to flush out hidden looted cash or just change it incrementally knowing other nations of the B.A.D(Biafra, Arewa, Delta) regions have the naira and can bring dem here to change to dollars.
2) is it possible we keep the name nigeria (Western Republic of Nigeria) cuz of bilateral reasons, i believe if we keep the name we can easily get allies from other nations.
3) what will happen to our previous political classes who damned us,dey will surely come back to try and rule. solution: Military government, we arrest all past leader, create a public panel a la oputa panel. we strip dem of dere wealth and redistribute it.
yes I know thats a bit radical, but think of it can we really avoid the political corruption that plagued dis nation without a clean slate protocol. a Pro-yoruba military council can do that. we need iron hand in this country and we know it. |

deedeedee1: The hausas might not agree. If Yoruba, Igbos and Niger-Deltans leave, there will be no war. As far as we know our boundaries if the south leaves (we don't have to be friends to do that tho) the north has no choice. dere can't be war, dey can't take on all the south at ones, they know dat. best dey can do is go dere own way. den we drag them to the table for trade talks. |

AkinPhysicist: I fully agree and have suggested similar ideas in the past. The emboldened is key.
If you may kindly shed more light on this. I don't wanna assume anything at the moment.
If they are Yorubas then they are not minorities. If they are minorities then they are not Yorubas. Hence moot.
Not necessary imo. Its all about management. Texas is as big as Nigeria.
Just see the current name as place-holder for now. Future discussions will finalize things. 1) i feel Lagos is too Dense and over populated, yes dere are nations like dat, but i feel our capital should be well designed from the ground up with solid infrastructure and human development. a FCT from the present Osun state could work. 2) Texas got years ahead of us, we need to create a sense of governance in all nooks and crannies quickly, so a smaller state could be better for oyo. now our form of government need to be explicitly stated, i for one don't support Parliamentary, a true federal nation is better. |

I have never met a foolish, crazy, useless set people like these idiots. They irritate me to the bone!!! If the Igbos want to go, how is that their business? They will never comment of this thread. Never! But when they see any Biafra thread, they jump on it and start their "one Nigeria" slogan. Yet the Fulanis control their ports. These fools will never talk of how we can collect our right back from them. They will never talk about the future of Yoruba land and its people. They will ignore. As for the Fulanis controlling our ports. I cant tell you how annoyed i am. I just dont know what to say. I am speechless. I heard that Fulanis have been controlling this port for over 20 years. I will always insult these bastards that insult the Igbos for wanting out. Foolish crazy bastards!!!!!!! it's high time our guys here stop creating threads to spite the igbos. Let them fight for what to believe. but i Always draw draw the line when they start insulting Yorubas. |

kudos to you guys for the nyc discuss.
A Yoruba nation has to have a separation from religion. to promote and protect our culture. Cultural public holidays Mandatory Parliament proceedings in yoruba sometimes. yoruba language compulsory along side English. Lagos should never be capital. Any Minorities joining should have their state Kogi west(state) for the okun people Oyo needs to be broken down, its to Big imho
I believe greatly in DAWN. but I kinda don't like dat oduduwa Republic name. we can do better |
