Nairaland has truly lost its glory. Those days, we would have started analysing the history of both countries at war, the rationale behind the war and how it affects the geopolitical structure of the region and how India might benefit.

But I guess the good ole brains no longer have time and those we have time for Nairaland just want to catch cruise and move on. I wouldn't be surprised if Jamb cut off mark eventually drops to 50.

Such a shame.

About this time last year, we said something about the coalition not collating and that PBAT is coming back in 2027. How far? I dear ask the naysayers. Let's keep hopes alive. Perhaps the man from the past that gave the message told a lie, maybe he said the truth. But regardless, we now know the handwriting on the wall. Saleslourd:
Good evening Nairaland family. I’m Saleslourd some of you know me from my threads, but today I’m telling EVERYTHING. From before it all happened to how I got here. No lies, no exaggeration just my life exactly as it went down.

Before Yaba, before the trouble I was already hustling. I’d help people find winter wears at the markets and get commission from the shops. It was a new market back then, not many people knew about it, so I was the go to guy for anyone looking to buy. I also ran errands, carried loads you name it, I did it. We called ourselves ‘Osa Yia’ Igbo for hustlers, from what I know.

Then my world changed. My dad passed, and my mom was diagnosed with diabetes foot ulcer her left foot was decaying, she couldn’t walk anymore. It all fell on me. I was 19, naive, but I’d do ANYTHING to make money and take care of her. Nothing devilish just work hard.

One day, a man I knew a regular who always paid me the best called me over. I just got this shop he said. I don’t like the roll gate, want to change it. Help me carry this old one away I’ll follow you I said yes he’d never let me down before.

The gate was heavy iron real work to carry. I was sweating, focused on not dropping it, when someone tapped me from behind. I turned, annoyed and the next thing I heard was ‘YOU’RE TAKING THIS WHERE?!’ I spun around to point at the man who hired me but he was GONE. Vanished into thin air.

I tried to explain
A man paid me to carry this, he wanted to change his gate!
But they wouldn’t listen. Immediately they claim doors had been missing from the complex for weeks, and I was the one stealing them. Then the beating started. People I’d had misunderstandings with, guys who wanted to hire me but I said no because of how they acted they all joined in, chanting ‘THIEF!’ They dragged me around the market, everyone taking turns to hit me. By the end, my face was so swollen I looked like a Chinese man couldn’t see straight, could barely talk.

They took me to ‘Iya oja" at her trust shop. She looked at me like I was the worst criminal alive and said I should be taken to Area C police station. She even followed us and paid the police to make sure ‘justice was done’ said I was ‘against the government’. There was no escape. Nobody would help me.

After 3 days in the station, I was charged to court. I was shaking so bad when they called my name. I’d never been in a courtroom before. The prosecutor and police officer called me a ‘long-time criminal’, said I’d been stealing gates for months. The judge asked me what I had to say – I had no lawyer, my mom couldn’t make it, so I defended myself. Told them everything exactly how it happened and pleaded NOT GUILTY.

The case was adjourned, and I was sent to Ikoyi Prison with no bail option. I spent 20 days there.
This is exactly one of the reason we started John 8. If I tell you the number of cases we have handled and still handling till this moment, tears will run down your cheeks.

All I can say is, learn to say NO. That no is on caps. Don't joke with it.

Know who your friends are before you seat with them to break a meal or share a drink. If they or someone you know or don't know bring a deal or involves you, seek to know what the entire deal it all about. You might just be their fall guy. Someone the police will gladly use to end investigation. If you be you and others at large, when the matter gets to court.

Some persons have been languishing for years in prison for a matter that will ordinary not attract more than two years in prison.

I am saying this mainly to my Arewa brother who bearly understand English and those naive JJC who just arrived Lagos and Ibadan. Especially those drivers and dispatch riders. Many are, today, suffering for what they know little or nothing about.

For some others, it was because they simply reconnected with their friends from Secondary or University days without caring to investigate who that friend is presently. Dem go involve you ooo. But na you fit help them go prison. Such case is a case of illegal possession of fire arms that I am presently defending some folks.

May God nor allow dem catch us on top shit wen we nor shit. Amen.

I wish we had the resources to expand the services of John 8, so that we can help more people. But I am certain that with time, God will provide us with enough to cover the entire 36 states and perhaps the whole of Africa.

He is not even sure Abia won't cross over or walk over to APC in 2027. Where will his supposed vote come from?

This Agulu man and his supporters won't even get vice-presidential ticket should Oyo state governor cross over to ADC.

It's should better find his way to APC. If he lucky, he will get special adviser on electricity and road side ground buying plus serving party jollof rice in 2028. Else, he is now a political orphan.

About this time last year, or before Easter period, I made a post that I saw a man from the past who told me that PBAT was coming back in 2027 and will stay till 2031. I feared for myself cos I was too small to make such a post when the ADC collation was just gaining mometum and every big wig and the powers that be were against PBAT.

Even his party members. I also saw that many other Governors opposition will decamp to APC, including the entire South South. And some of the K states and other states in the North.

A few months later, alot has happened and the man from the past has revealed himself several more times to say it's indeed PBAT till 2031. I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know that time answers all things, and it's indeed PBAT till 2031. And that's final.

FamilyRe: The Quiet Crisis Of Aging Men: What We Don’t Prepare Fathers For by dalitigator(m): 12:44pm On Dec 14, 2025
Kalatium:
There’s a man in my neighborhood whose story has stayed with me.

Years ago, his home was a hub of life. Teenagers everywhere. Music blasting. Laughter spilling into the street. Young boys full of promise, respect, and energy. A mother holding the center. A family in motion.

Fast forward to today and the house is silent.

One son is gone. Another has relocated. The wife and daughters have moved on. What remains is a man sitting alone behind a gate, cooking for himself, washing his own clothes, watching the days pass without the noise that once defined his life.

This is a reality we rarely discuss.

We talk about career growth. We talk about wealth. We talk about legacy.

But we almost never talk about male loneliness in old age.

For many men, life slowly narrows: Children grow up. Homes empty out. Visits reduce. Attention fades.

Mothers are remembered, celebrated, visited with gifts and affection. Fathers, too often, are left behind quietly enduring, saying little, asking for nothing, but feeling everything.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about awareness.

Sons: Your father may not say much. He may act distant or grumpy. But he wants connection too. He wants to feel seen.

Daughters: Celebrate your fathers, not just on special days, but in ordinary moments. Presence matters more than presents.

Fathers: Be kind to your wives. Be warm with your children. Emotional deposits made today compound in old age.

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth: No promotion, no achievement, no title prepares a man for an empty house.

Old age doesn’t arrive suddenly, it creeps in quietly.

And how we love, show up, and stay connected today determines whether later years feel full… or painfully hollow.

This is not just a family issue. It’s a societal one.

Let’s do better while there’s still time.
Have 3 separate families. Marry first wife at 25 to 30. Marry a second wife at 45. She should be the playful type. Then marry a 3rd mature wife . Person like Ned nor dey reason all these kind matters. Why?

That's the first family. They are entitled to protection. It's standard protocol world wide.

The number of security detail each member of the family is entitled to, is an entire different ball game.

Seyi Tinubu is not just an ordinary citizen likee and you, he is the first son. He is entitled to his own security details.

Yes! I agree that in west worlds, some members of the first family may not like it because they want to live under the radar. That's their personal decision.

FamilyWhy Regina Daniels Might Never Get Full Custody of Her Kids by dalitigator(op):
The Real Story Behind Child Custody Decisions

When parents separate, one question almost always follows: Who gets the child?
Many people think child custody is a battle of money, power, or who “wins” the case.

The truth is far simpler and far more serious.

Child custody is not a competition between parents. It is a legal test of one thing only: what is best for the child.
Courts do not hand children to the richest parent by default. A judge can, and often does, award custody to a parent who earns less, if that parent offers greater emotional stability, daily care, and a healthier environment for the child.

What Custody Really Means

In law, child custody means more than just where a child sleeps. Black’s Law Dictionary describes it as the care, control, and maintenance of a child, awarded by a court after considering the child’s best interest.

In everyday terms, custody answers three questions:

* Who does the child live with?
* Who makes decisions for the child?
* Who ensures the child’s physical, emotional, and moral well-being?

In Nigeria, the law is clear and firm on this point. The best interest of the child is the guiding principle, rooted in the Child’s Rights Act 2003, the 1999 Constitution, and repeatedly affirmed by Nigerian courts, including the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. No personal feelings, no parental pride. Just the child’s welfare.

How Judges Decide Who Gets Custody

When a judge sits to decide custody, they look beyond accusations and emotions. The Supreme Court, in Odogwu v. Odogwu, made it clear that courts must carefully examine several factors, including:

* The income and social standing of each parent
* The quality of accommodation available to the child
* Plans for the child’s education and moral upbringing
* The emotional stability of each parent
* The age and special needs of the child
* Who has been the child’s primary caregiver
* The child’s own preference, if the child is mature enough to express one

No single factor decides the case. The court weighs everything together, like pieces of a puzzle, to see where the child will truly thrive.

When Senator Ned spoke her truth on his recent marital brouhaha with Regina Daniels, many did not see , by s mile, what exactly he was doing. Guess what?

He was simply telling the world and any one would cares to listen why he deserves custody of the children from the marriage, and not their mother. Ordinarily, sentiments usually sway on the side on the mother of the kids to get primary custody while the father might get secondary or supervisory custody, and in some cases, just visitation right.

But let's take a legal look at the custody issue and who is certain to get custody when parents go their separate ways and what the law and the courts usually consider in awarding custodial rights.

When a Parent Fears Losing Custody

A parent at risk of losing custody is not helpless. The law allows such a parent to defend themselves by showing:

Parental fitness: that they are mentally, emotionally, morally, and financially capable of raising the child

Stability: that their home offers consistency, safety, and routine.

Primary caregiving: that they have been the ones handling daily needs, feeding, bathing, school runs, homework, and emotional support.

Courts pay close attention to who actually shows up for the child, not who makes the loudest claims.

What a Parent Must Prove to Win Custody

The parent asking for custody must do more than criticize the other side. They must show, with facts and evidence, that:

* Granting them custody is in the child’s best interest
* They have a stable income and a suitable environment
* The other parent is less capable, not by insults, but by credible proof

Custody cases are won on evidence, not anger.

The Judge’s Role: Staying Fair and Focused

Judges are expected to rise above emotions and personal sympathies. Their duty is to remain neutral, evaluate evidence carefully, and speak only the language of the child’s welfare.

To ensure fairness, judges rely on:

* Documents such as payslips, tenancy agreements, school records, and medical reports.
* The credibility of witnesses under cross-examination
* Clear indicators of the child’s well-being, including living conditions, emotional support, and moral guidance.

Important Exceptions to the General Rule

While the child’s best interest is the foundation, the law recognises some practical realities:

Very young children are often placed with the mother, unless she is proven unfit
Proven abuse automatically disqualifies a parent from custody
The child’s preference may be respected if the child is mature enough, usually around age 12 or older

How Custody Cases Move Through Court (Simply Explained)

In a typical custody case at the High Court:

1. The parent seeking custody files their claim, supporting affidavits, and a proposed custody plan.
2. The other parent responds with a defence and counter-affidavit.
3. Both sides present witnesses.
4. Lawyers cross-examine each other’s witnesses.
5. Final arguments are made.
6. The judge delivers judgment.

It is a careful process, designed to protect the child, not to rush to judgment.

A Real-Life Example

In Nnewi, Anambra State, a couple separated after 12 years of marriage. The husband, a businessman at Nkwo Market, earned significantly more. The wife, a teacher at a mission school, earned less.

But evidence showed that the wife had always been the child’s primary caregiver, supervising homework, attending school meetings, guiding church activities, and providing daily emotional support. The court awarded custody to her.

The reason was simple: the child’s emotional stability and well-being were tied to her care. The father’s higher income could not outweigh the child’s welfare. The decision reflected the principles laid down in Odogwu v. Odogwu.

Final Words: A Lawyer’s View.

Deciding child custody is like choosing who should care for a delicate plant. One person may own vast land, but another may water the plant daily, shield it from harsh weather, and nurture its growth. The court will always choose the better caregiver—not the bigger landowner.

Custody is never awarded to punish or reward a parent. It is not about pride, revenge, or financial muscle. It is about the child.
Income matters, but emotional stability, moral guidance, and daily care matter even more. In every custody dispute, the strongest argument will always be the same: What truly serves the best interest of the child?

With this, do you think Regina Daniels would ever get full custody of her kids?

BusinessRe: No Bank Is Allowed To Debit Your Account Over Loan Repayments Unless... by dalitigator(m): 10:34am On Dec 10, 2025
giftson102:
There is one banking truth in this country that will shock you. And the banks will never tell you this.

Because it is one of the biggest tools they use to debit people’s accounts without warning.
And Nigerians, out of fear and ignorance, think it is normal.

But this is not normal. It is illegal. And you can sue the bank or report them to CBN.

Let me explain it clearly.

You see that thing that someone will send you money and the bank will automatically deduct or take all of the money for loan repayment?

By law, no bank in Nigeria has the right to debit your account for any loan repayment unless you signed a written debit mandate.

Not “verbal agreement.”
Not “you applied on the app.”
Not “the loan officer said so.”
Not “you clicked accept.”
Not “we assumed you agreed.”

Even if you are owing Billions, there must be a clear, documented, signed mandate giving the bank permission to take money from your account before they can legally do so.

This is a Central Bank of Nigeria consumer-protection rule, and it protects Nigerians from unauthorized deductions, intimidation, and exploitation.

So why do banks get away with illegal debits?

Because most Nigerians don’t know the law. (I don’t know why no musician has produced “Show Me the Law Song” we need such a song because most Nigerans don’t know the law.)

Most people don’t know they even have this right.
Most don’t know debit mandates must be signed physically or digitally with proper documentation.
Most don’t know they can challenge the deduction.
Most don’t know they can demand the signed mandate.
Most don’t know the bank must refund if the mandate doesn’t exist.

So the banks take advantage of the ignorance.

They debit you from another account.
They take money from your salary account.
They clean out your savings.
They go into dormant accounts.
Some even enter joint accounts.
And when you complain, they intimidate you with technical language.

“System flagged your account.”
“Your BVN is linked.”
“It’s part of the loan terms.”
“It was in the app.”

But the law remains:

Without a signed, specific debit authorization, the bank has no legal right to touch your money.

None.

What you can do starting today:
-Ask your bank to show you the signed debit mandate on any loan you owe.

-If they cannot produce it, request an immediate refund.

-If the bank refuses, report them directly to CBN Consumer Protection: cpd@cbn.gov.ng

-Attach your bank statement and complaint.
-CBN usually forces the bank to refund the unauthorized deduction.

Banks fear CBN queries more than anything else.

Know your rights, but most importantly, pay your debts.
I am just smiling reading this very well articulated piece of junk. The question is, how many of you do real the loan terms and condition before signing it?

Make I laugh and go back go watch my cartoons grin grin grin grin
