Health / Breast Cancer - Causes, Diagnosis & Treatment by dammybas(m): 11:09am On Feb 27
What is Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent and well-known cancers affecting women globally. It can start in either the left or right breast or both. Cancer develops when cells start to multiply abnormally. Women are most commonly affected by breast cancer, although rare, men can potentially develop breast cancer too.

Types of Breast Cancer
There are several types of breast cancer, and they can be broadly categorized into two main groups: invasive and non-invasive (or in situ) breast cancers. Here are some common types within these categories:

1. Non-Invasive (In Situ): This refers to breast cancers that have not spread past the duct or lobule where they started
- Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS): DCIS is the most common type of non-invasive breast cancer. It originates in the milk ducts of the breast and has not spread into the surrounding tissue.
- Lobular Carcinoma In Situ (LCIS): LCIS is a condition where abnormal cells are found in the lobules (milk-producing glands) of the breast. It is not considered cancer but can be a marker for an increased risk of developing invasive breast cancer.

2. Invasive Breast Cancers: These have spread or invaded the surrounding breast tissue.
Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC): This is the most common type of invasive breast cancer. It begins in the milk ducts but then invades the surrounding breast tissue.

3. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC): ILC starts in the milk-producing glands (lobules) and can spread to other areas of the breast.

Risk Factors of Breast cancer
A risk factor is a condition that enhances the likelihood of developing a disease, such as breast cancer. However, having one or more risk factors does not guarantee that you will get the disease. Some risk factors for breast cancer cannot be controlled, such as age or inheriting specific gene mutations, while others may be controlled by the individual. These include:
- Age
- Sex
- Genetics and family history
- Reproductive history
- Smoking
- Use of alcoholic beverages
- Obesity
- Radiation exposure
- Replacement hormone treatment

Got my Poco X3 last Friday. Superb phone. Upgraded from my 2yr old Redmi Note 5 pro.

One thing I must say you can notice the difference in the refresh rate most especially in games. In day to day use, the untrained eye might miss it but it's evident.

Looks like I may be selling it tho cos I'm getting my hands on the Mi 10 Lite with SD765 later this week. When I make my choice I'll put one of them for sale at a very good price for anyone interested.

I was browsing through Facebook the other day when I came across these cute set of photos. One of the popular fertility clinics in Nigeria, Nordica Fertility Center, was showcasing children born through IVF on their Facebook page.

I have always marvelled at the science behind IVF. It’s amazing that with the help of technology, couples who have fertility challenges can get pregnant easily.

Check out the pictures:

How Cute!

Nairaland / General / Re: Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom Top 2018 Budget Per Head Figures by dammybas(m): 2:04pm On Feb 13, 2018
Cross River State Government is proposing an astonishing 1.3trillion naira this year (from just 300 million naira last year).

Why?

The state government plans to embark on a landmark project: A "Wi-Fi Connected" Super Highway that terminates at Kastina-Ala in Benue State.

Although this is a welcome development given that Governor Ayade belongs to the PDP and is still able to get the support of the APC run Federal government, personally, I think the state government is not setting their priorities right.

Btw, i'm really enjoying these statistics from these guys. "Budget per head" grin
