Nairaland / General / How To Find Postal Code (zip Code) For Any Nigerian City/state by dammybas(m): 4:12pm On Jan 24, 2018
Locating the postal code (or zip code) of any place in Nigeria can be a huge headache. This is majorly due to the low level of awareness of Nigerians on postal services in the country.

So what is a postal code?
A postal code is a series of letters, digits included in a postal address to ease sorting of mail.

NB: Zip codes and postal codes means essentially the same thing.

HOW TO LOCATE NIGERIAN POSTAL CODES

1. To locate any Nigerian postal code (or zip code), follow these steps:
2. Go to the Postcode finder tool on the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) official website (Click here to go).
3. Enter your state, town, area and street.
4. Click "Get Postcode"
5. The correct Postal code/Zip code will be displayed.

Business / 4 Must Have Skills In Any Modern Marketing Team by dammybas(m): 1:54pm On Aug 21, 2017
The world is changing. To remain relevant and thriving in a time like this, you need to be abreast of the changes shaping the world around you and adapt to it. Else, you become obsolete.

“The future is not ahead of us. It has already happened. Unfortunately, it is unequally distributed among companies, industries and nations” – Philip Kotler

If you are a Business owner, CEO or CMO, you need to ask yourself this important question: Does my marketing team have the requite skills to be relevant in the contemporary time. To be successful today, your marketing team needs all the traditional marketing skills and, a whole lot more.

Sam Davies puts it best when he said: “To make sure the people in your marketing team can stay ahead in the modern world of marketing, they need to develop new skills, be more innovative than ever, and take complete advantage of the fact that we are living through a revolution and there are no rules”.

Here are the four must have skills in any effective modern marketing team

1. A Solid Understanding Of Marketing Fundamentals

The first thing your team must have is a thorough understanding of marketing fundamentals. This is so important that without it, all your marketing initiatives are doomed to failure.

This is common sense right?

Unfortunately, it seems common sense is not common. Just last week, I was in a meeting with a prospective client where their in-house marketing manager displayed an utter lack of understanding of marketing fundamentals. Asked to provide a summary of their marketing strategy, he kept rambling about their “rebranded logo” “advertising on radio and newspaper!

Your marketing team must be grounded in such marketing fundamentals as the four Ps of marketing and, STP. Yes, all marketing is built on STP-Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning.

2. An Understanding Of Human Psychology

One essential component you need in your marketing team today is someone (or people) with a deep understanding of how and why other people think and act the way they do.

It will be practically impossible to create compelling marketing communication if you don’t know why it would be compelling to your audience in the first place.

The study of consumers helps firms and organizations improve their marketing strategies by understanding issues such as how

(i) The psychology of how consumers think, feel, reason, and select between different alternatives (e.g., brands, products)
(ii) The psychology of how the consumer is influenced by his or her environment (e.g., culture, family, signs, media);
(iii)The behaviour of consumers while shopping or making other marketing decisions
(iv) How consumer motivation and decision strategies differ between products that differ in their level of importance or interest that they entail for the consumer; and
(v) How marketers can adapt and improve their marketing campaigns and marketing strategies to more effectively reach the consumer.
(vi) Understanding these issues will help your team adapt their strategies by taking the consumer into consideration thereby achieving better marketing returns.

3. Storytelling Skills

Susan Gunelius of Forbes puts it best when she said “Brand storytelling isn’t a new concept, but with the explosive growth of social media and content marketing, the opportunities to tell stories as part of direct and indirect brand marketing initiatives have become a strategic priority”.

Today’s effective marketing team must include a competent storyteller (Brand Creative Content Executive if you like). This individual will focus on increasing consumer emotional involvement in the brand through social media and content marketing stories as well as on weaving the brand storyline into offline brand experiences and marketing initiatives.

4. Data maven and Marketing Analytics Ninja

Marketing analytics comprises the processes and technologies that enable marketers to evaluate the success of their marketing initiatives by measuring performance using important business metrics, such as ROI, marketing attribution and overall marketing effectiveness. In other words, it tells you the effectiveness of all your marketing initiatives.

As your market becomes increasingly competitive, there is no question that the collection, analysis and extraction of insights from data are becoming probably the biggest differentiator for commercial success.

“Data can be the catalyst which, when leveraged correctly, allows a business to outperform the competition. The key is not just collection, but leverage. Size doesn’t matter, insight matters”.
I am sure you now know why you need a data analytics ninja in your team.

Lastly….

The first thing for you to do is to audit your current marketing team to see if they have the requisite skills. If no, well, do the needful and if yes, congratulations. In which case, you need to make sure you have some great processes in place to make the most of them.

Politics / Top 10 Most Active Nigerian Governors On Social Media by dammybas(m): 10:39am On Jul 12, 2017
In Nigeria, social media has become an integral part of life. It is now an important tool for disseminating information online.

During the 2015 general elections in Nigeria, social media played a huge role in shaping public opinion and setting the agenda. Political parties employed various tactics on social media to make known their voices.

Today, every state in Nigeria has a social media handle (although mostly poorly run) which is used to inform its people about the day to day activities of the state government and how it affects the life of the masses.

Check out the top 10 most active governors on social media in Nigeria.

1. Governor Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna State)

At the top of our list is Governor Nasir El-Rufai, the executive governor of Kaduna state. Popularly called Mallam Nasir El Rufai, the governor needs no introduction when it comes to social media. He uses social media to further amplify his vocal views about the affairs of Nigeria.
Mallam Nasir El Rufai has previously served as Director, Bureau of Public Enterprises and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He was nicknamed “Mr Demolition” during his service as Minister of the FCT due to the massive demolition exercise which he approved to rid the FCT of unwanted structures.

Viewed in many quarters as an incorruptible public servant who gets the difficult jobs done, Governor El Rufai is not one to hide his opinions.
Mallam Nasir El Rufai is the most followed governor on twitter with more than 1million followers on his personal twitter account. His official twitter account as governor of kaduna state (@GovKaduna) is followed by just 48,000+ people.
The governor uses his social media accounts to inform the people of Kaduna state about the ongoings in the state and reiterate his promise to take Kaduna to the next level. His son, Bello El-Rufai, is also popular on social media and is widely seen to be a chip off the old block.

2. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos State)

His Excellency, Akinwunmi Ambode, is the executive governor of Lagos state. Lagos is arguably the most populous state in Nigeria. The governor was elected into office in 2015 after a keenly contested election.
Gov Ambode was constantly berated on social media during his early months as governor after being regularly spotted at popular night club, Quilox & embroiled in a messy dispute with his predecessor. The governor has gone on to be the pride of the people of Lagos by commissioning projects of huge magnitude.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is the only governor in Nigeria with verified Facebook & Twitter handles. The governor his followed by more than 786,000 people on his social media accounts. He uses the accounts to showcase his day to day activities as governor of the commercial capital of Nigeria, Lagos state.

3. Governor Rauf Aregbesola (Osun State)

His excellency, Rauf Aregbesola is the executive governor of Osun State. Popularly called “Ogbeni”, the Yoruba word for mister, the governor is perceived to be a figure of love-hate in some quarters. Known for his vocal power, he is often criticized for his management of Osun state.
Ogbeni Aregbesola is the only governor without a cabinet as he deems it too expensive to maintain. The governor has also been widely criticized for the non/partial payment of government workers in Osun state.
Like him or hate him, Ogbeni is a strong political force in the South western part of Nigeria. He also previously served as Commissioner for works & infrastructure in Lagos state under the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With over 430k followers on social media, the governor remains a force to reckon with. His twitter handle is very popular for regular bants about the English Premier League (EPL) in which he supports Arsenal Football Club.

4. Governor Ibikunle Oyelaja Amosun (Ogun State)

Governor Ibikunle Amosun, popularly called SIA (acronym for Senator Ibikunle Amosun), has served as executive governor of Ogun State since 2011. The governor is well known for his signature Yoruba cap wearing style.
The governor was previously a member of the Senate representing Ogun Central District. He is followed by about 277k people on his social media handles.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun is very popular in his state for his massive (perceived as unnecessary in some quarters) road projects which include fly overs and multiple lanes expressways. He uses his social media handles to showcase the beauty of Ogun state and inform his people about the ongoing projects in the stat.

5. Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo State)

His Excellency, Rotimi Akeredolu was recently elected as executive governor of Ondo state. He is a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The governor previously served as Attorney General of Ondo State from 1997 to 1999. He is also an ex-president of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The governor was in the spotlight on social media after he controversially won the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in September 2016. This led to a rift among leaders of the party.
Gov. Akeredolu is one of the 3 governors with verified accounts on twitter. He is followed by about 138k across his social media handles where he regularly posts about his activities as governor of the sunshine state.

Science/Technology / New "Smart Condoms" Allow You Track Your Sex Stats & Detect Stds by dammybas(m): 8:15pm On Mar 14, 2017
Internet of Things (IoT) is finally finding its way into the most intimate activity in our lives, SEX.

A British company, i.Con, has introduced a new smart condom which allows it's users track various sex statistics like thrust speed, thrust velocity etc.

Although there is no official picture/demo of the product, the manufacturers say it will be a "one size fits all" with an adjustable band.

Technically, the device is more like a c**k ring which will be worn over/under the regular "dumb" condom. It uses a combination of nano chips & sensors to track stats and can pair with the mobile app which allows users to visualize the data.

The weird device is currently available for pre order at about £59.99 (~$74).

Phones / Facebook Introduces Live Audio by dammybas(m): 4:27pm On Dec 21, 2016
Facebook is set to introduce another new feature for users. This new feature called Facebook Live Audio will allow users to stream audio live to their friends/followers from any part of the world.

In a statement released on the Official Facebook blog, the reason for Live audio stems from publishers who wanted to tell stories on Facebook with words and not videos. We have seen some creative Live videos where the publishers go live using a static image and eliminating the need for videos.

According to the Facebook Blog: "From interviews to book readings, we’re excited about the layer of interactivity that Live Audio brings to both the broadcaster and listener. Just as with a live video on Facebook, listeners can discover live audio content in News Feed, ask questions and leave reactions in real time during the broadcast, and easily share with their friends.

We know that people often like to listen to audio while doing other things; people using Android devices will be able to continue listening to a Live Audio broadcast even if they leave the Facebook app or lock their phones, while iOS listeners will be able to continue listening as they browse other parts of Facebook."

Facebook Live Audio will launch officially early next year.

What's your view on Live Audio?

Most items are usually available for free shipping. Infact, for any paid shipping item there's almost always a free shipping one. But you can pay extra for shipping to DHL if you want your items to arrive in less than 5 days
Business / [TUTORIAL] Cheapest Way To Buy Items From Aliexpress With Forex Ban by dammybas(m): 1:25pm On Dec 20, 2016
It's no news that the Forex situation in Nigeria is in some deep sh*t (forgive my language). Virtually all bank have banned the use of their naira debit cards from foreign transactions (ATM, Online, PoS etc). The banks which still allow these transactions unfortunately have very unrealistic limits. Imagine $100 per month! lipsrsealed

The average Nigerian doesn't have a dollar Mastercard/Visa card and might not be able to process one soon due to the rate at which the exchange rate is going haywire. This has made it difficult for Nigerians to purchase items.

For those who still cherish buying those awesome phones like Xiaomi, Oukitel etc or other valuable items from Aliexpress (or Gearbest) here are two different solutions which you can use easily.

METHOD 1: GTB Naira MasterCard
Rate: N320 ~ $1
Monthly Limit: $100

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) is one of the few banks which still allows dollar denominated transactions with Naira Mastercard. Also, Gtb has about the cheapest exchange rate at just N320 to a $1.

The only problem is that you can't make transaction of more than $100 per month. Although you can find very nice phones for less than $100 (Click here to check out some <$100 Phones) , those interested in buying phones like Xiaomi and other top end phones may have to use method 2 below.

METHOD 2: Access Bank Visa Card
Rate: N325 ~ $1
Monthly Limit: $200

Access bank also allows dollar denominated transactions with their Naira Visa Card. Their exchange rate is also fairly ok at just N325 to $1. I usually recommend their card for people looking to purchase various items like phones, Clothing, Watches at the same time.

The monthly limit for access bank is pegged at $200. You will not be allowed to make transactions once you reach the limit.

For those who don't know about Aliexpress(or other Chinese Super Online stores like Gearbest) yet, you are missing a whole lot. Nairaland / General / Aliexpress 11/11 Mega Sales - My Experience by dammybas(m): 1:52pm On Nov 11, 2016
Black Friday might be one of the most celebrated days for shoppers round the world. But in China, 11/11 is the super day of mega sales with super discounts. In 2015, i decided for the first time to join the bandwagon and my mind was blown. Then, dollar was just playing between 190 and 270 for most banks.

When i visited Aliexpress, i was shocked to see very quality items going away at mouth watering discounts. There was a flash sale every hour, one of my friends even got to buy an Oukitel phone worth $198 for just $19.8. The crazy thing was that these items were available with free shipping to Nigeria.

I remember saying that not until the goods arrive will i believe. Lo and behold, 21days after my order, i got a call from the post office that an item was available to me for pick up. I quickly ran down to the post office where i saw my items neatly packaged. I settled all the necessary post office "wahala" and picked up my items.

Today is 11/11, another round of sales is ongoing. I have even got to know more chinese online stores like Gearbest, bang goods, deal xtreme, etc which i have tried and tested.

My advice... If you know you have items you want to purchase at a very low price. Just head out to one of the sites. You can check here (https://dammybas..com/p/deals.html) for a comprehensive list. if you are bothered about the dollar exchange, just use a GTB Master Card, they are exchanging at N321 only.

Who else has bought an item on 11/11.. Share your story, positive or negative

For the FIFA vs PES debate, who do you think had the better game this year?

For me, I'd say FIFA wins this year thanks to "The Journey" mode. It's very innovative. Else, PES 17 bosses FIFA 17 when it comes to gameplay. It's so realistic and enjoyable.
Computers / How To Download Pes 2017 PC With Crack - 100% Working by dammybas(m): 1:06pm On Nov 01, 2016
Pro Evolution Soccer a.k.a PES is a football simulation game available officially on PC, XBOX and Playstation consoles. The Konami owned franchise released the newest version of the game, PES 2017, in September 2016. The game received positive review from the gaming review and is said to be the best PES game since the early years of PES 6.

PES has majorly been unable to compete with FIFA in these parts of the world majorly due to licensing issues and a very poor online framework. This time around, PES had a major breakthrough by signing the best club in Europe, FC Barcelona wink ,to be a brand ambassador for the game. Everything Barcelona from the majestic Camp Nou to the glorious Barca Anthem are fully featured in this game. Other top licensed teams include Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, German and French National teams and much more.

PES 17 has the best gameplay and collision technique of any football game i hve played. Gameplay is super exciting. Keepers are much better and goals are as satisfying as ever. The lack of licensing can easily be corrected by installing patches from trusted patch gurus e.g PTE Patch (Which are my favourite)

Konami gave broke gamers a huge scare after it was discovered the PC version of the game is protected by the almighty Denuvo Anti Crack Protection (Check Wikipedia). Not until now, all famous modders/crackers found it impossible to crack the game. Luckily, chinese crackers CPY, finally released a working crack for the game. I have tested the crack and it works 100% perfectly.

For Android users, some wonderful modders did a port o the game compatible with Android devices. the only problem is the Android version requires internet every time.

To download the full game and the crack + Android Version, Check here: https://dammybas..com/2016/10/pes-2017-android-apk-data-screenshots.html

PS: The PS4 version is x10 better than the PC version. Silly KONAMI as usual just did a PS3 port to the PC version. Maybe PES 18 PC version will finally have graphics as good as the next gen consoles.

Science/Technology / All You Need To Know About The New Facebook Express Wifi by dammybas(m): 2:07pm On Sep 04, 2016
When Mark Zuckerburg arrived 'unexpectedly' in Lagos, Nigeria, there was a huge excitement on social media. Several pictures caught the eye of Nigerians including the multi billionaire jogging on the famous suspension bridge, the Lekki - Ikoyi link bridge.
But one particular picture was interesting. Mark Zuckerburg posted a picture on Facebook with one Mrs Rosemary Njoku who is a retailer of Facebook Express WiFi.

Facebook Express WiFi is an innovative service by Facebook in partnership with internet.org to work with network carriers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Local enterpreneurs to help expand connectivity to undeserved locations around the world.

In Nigeria, they have partnered with Coolink Communication to roll out the WiFi around Nigeria starting with Lagos. There are currently more than 25 hotspots spread across the state.

The most interesting thing is the speed and affordability of the plan. With a speed of over 10Mbps, the lowest plan gives you 100mb for N40 while the largest plan gives you 5GB for just N1,600.

As soon as Lagos is well covered, other states will be included little by little.

Science/Technology / The New Facebook - Whatsapp Partnership. Should You Be Worried? by dammybas(m): 1:42pm On Sep 04, 2016
It's no news that for the first time in four years (since 2014), Whatsapp has amended it's privacy policy and user terms. When Facebook bought Whatsapp for about $19billion in 2014, the co-founder of WhatsApp Jan Koum promised Whatsapp will stay true to their promise. So what is changing?

The new policy states that there will be data sharing with Facebook. Note that this data does not include your messages or photos which are protected by end-to-end encryption. So what data is Facebook looking for?

Whatsapp plans on helping Facebook improve the Ad experience on facebook and its products to make accurate count of unique users and fight spam and abuse. The updated policy also states: "..we will share some of your account information with Facebook and the Facebook family of companies, like the phone number you verified when you registered with WhatsApp, as well as the last time you used our service...". This means that shared information will include name of device, online status, usage and log information.

The WhatsApp Official Blog says its to help the following:
1. Provide Better Targeted Ads to Facebook users
2. Help prevent Spam and Abuse.
3. Help provide better total user experience for Facebook users.

Note also that existing Whatsapp users are free to opt out of the new terms within 30 days by going to Settings >> Account >> Share my Data

PS: Whether you accept or not, WhatsApp is already sharing some of your data with Facebook. grin

Football Season is back and every football fan is excited. Here in Nigeria, watching live EPL matches can be an expensive venture given the poor economic situation of the country. You have to pay at least N6,000 monthly to watch almost every live match on Supersport channels on DSTV. Well, with a simple trick you can watch every EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga match for just N500 every week from the comfort of your homes.

What you need:
A Laptop/PC
A USB Modem
A GLO SIM

How It Works:
=> Subscribe for the GLO TGIF Plan (3GB for N500)
=> Visit any Football streaming website. (Check the link below)
