The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (ret) has call on Prsident Goodluck Jonathan to call errant security agencies to order. Buhari made this known in a press statement on Friday. The statement read thus The Abuja Peace Accords Must Be Worth Their Wordings On Thursday, March 26th, President Goodluck Jonathan and I signed a new accord reinforcing our commitment to violent-free elections. The new accord is a follow up to the Abuja Accord which we signed, along with nine other party leaders, on Jan. 14th 2015, to show our commitment to free, fair and credible elections in our dear country. I take these accords very seriously, and this has reflected in the issues-based campaign which I ran all through the period of electioneering campaign, despite the provocative and sleazy campaign directed at my person and my party. But recent developments across the country, ahead of Saturday’s elections, run against the contents and spirit of the peace accords. For example, the ink with which we signed the new peace accord had barely dried when we started hearing reports of violence directed against members of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as glaring acts of harassment and intimidation being carried out against the opposition by security agents across the country. Shots were fired at the convoy of the Director General of my Campaign Organization, His Excellency Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor area of Port Harcourt, a few hours after the second peace accord was signed, leaving two persons injured. I do hope this is not a confirmation of the information reaching my party that some notorious security agents have been deployed to Port Harcourt to restrict the movement of Gov. Amaechi. In Ondo State, a serving APC member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Eniolorunda Omosule, was arrested and detained by the police for no reason other than to keep him away until after elections, while we have heard reports of an alleged meeting in Ibadan between the Commissioners of Police in the South-west and PDP officials. In Imo, we have read of how more than 30 armed mobile policemen were unleashed on some APC youths at Mbutu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, with the policemen firing indiscriminately, smashing doors and windows and arresting some of the youths, while there are alleged plans to deploy troops clothed in DSS uniforms to the South- west to help the PDP to rig the elections. These are worrisome developments, more so because they involve security agencies, which are supposed to be neutral and professional in carrying out their constitutional duties of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, irrespective of their party affiliations. I remain committed to the two peace accords which we signed to ensure free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections on Saturday and on April 11th, and once again I urge all my supporters to shun all acts of violence, even in the face of the worst kind of provocations. However, the wordings of the accords must mean something if indeed they are the paper they are writing on. The new peace accord we signed on Thursday called on INEC and all security agencies ”to ensure strict adherence to their constitutional roles”. This is the minimum requirement for us to have credible elections. When those who are being paid to protect Nigerians turn around to unleash violence on them, it portends great danger for the polity. With less than 24 hours to the Presidential elections, I call on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately call the errant security agencies to order, in the spirit of the peace accords. The President should make it clear that any security agent who engages in acts that are inimical to the success of the elections will face the full wrath of the law. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/call-errant-security-agencies-to-order-buhari-tells-jonathan/ |
http://www.naij.com/410568-nigeria-government-reportedly-stops-buharis-private-jet.html News just reaching us informs that Nigeria government stops General Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, from leaving Abuja. Japheth Omojuwa, a Nigerian blogger, socio-economic and political commentator, environmental consultant, social media expert and mentor shared this information via his Twitter account. He said that Buhari was stopped from leaving his hometown Daura to vote. The reports are yet to be confirmed. Some Nigerians in their comments suppose that it’s a provocation ahead tomorrow’s election. Some others accused President Jonathan of breaking peace record, which was signed yesterday on March 26. Details later In November, 2014, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria banned the presidential candidate, General Buhari from landing in Makurdi, Benue State. Buhari, together with his associate was travelling from Bayelsa State to Makurdi to pursue delegates of his party ahead of the APC delegates congress.

The two-page analysis of the survey, tagged: “Straw Prediction of 2015 Presidential Election”, made available to Daily Sun by Dr. Peter Orji, gave Buhari/APC an estimated votes of 15.4 million and President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), 11 million which indicates that Gen. Buhari won. The survey by the group reveals that Buhari will “predictably” win in the North which it will be a close call in the south The researchers stated that they arrived at the figures after “a careful study of the demographics of Nigeria voting patterns, based on an unbiased analysis of how voters shall cast their votes.” According to the group, Buhari would lead in the North-East, North- West, North- Central and South-West, while Jonathan would win in the South-South and South- East. The survey said Buhari would eventually have an upper hand going by heavy votes he would record in his catchment areas against Jonathan, who the survey said, would garner fewer votes in his areas of strength. However, unlike 2011, General Buhari, the survey said, “will secure substantial votes in the North-Central and greatly improve his showing in the South-East.” The distribution of the votes across the zones as predicted by the survey is thus: “North-Central, PDP, 1.73million, APC, 1.86million. North-East, PDP, 1.3million, APC, 2.55million. North- West, PDP 2.15million, APC, 5.65million. South-East, PDP 1.65million, APC, 650,000. South- South, PDP, 2,.2million APC, 1.7million. South- West, PDP, 2million, APC, 2.9million. FCT, PDP, 150,000, APC, 200,000. In summary, the survey revealed that, “the APC candidate will carry all the states in North-West and North- East and will win marginally in North- Central,” saying, “the margin of victory for Gen. Buhari is a staggering 4.4million votes and it is impossible for President Jonathan to close such a margin.” What would boost Buhari’s victory in the North-East and North-West, the poll explained, would largely be due to expected increase in the voters’ turnout, “whilst the turnout in the South-East and South-South is likely to decrease. The simple explanation, according to the group, “is that the North-East, North-West and South-West zones feel that their sons, Buhari and Osinbanjo, are on the APC ticket and considering the number of votes accruing to the three zones, Jonathan will find it absolutely impossible to fill the gap.” The survey analysis was concluded with the group saying that, “because of the postponement that occurred five weeks ago, a repeat this time will not go down well with Nigerians who very likely will accuse the administration of having its hand in disrupting the process, and because of the tight timelines to avoid a possible constitutional crisis a shift in the elections this time may become im possible to contemplate.” Gen. Buhari seems to be having a bit of luck with mock polls as another group, Eurasia group also predicted a victory for the former Major General. Eurasia is the World largest political risk consultancy. In his reaction to Buhari’s mock victory, Jonathan said;“You may wish General Buhari win as you deem, but God’s shall be carried out on that day.” “Those people you keep quoting are not in Nigeria, and do not have any link to the grassroots in Nigeria, and do not even know what is happening here.”http://www.naij.com/405548-ntt-group-poll-reveals-winner-of-presidential-election.html |
