It can't be worse than what we face here in Nigeria, though it may be tasking, but we are rugged and tough, and when going gets tough, only the tough keeps going... We are Nigerians, we never say No...

If your wife fully support it, then go alone and they will join you later.
My best advice for you!!
Seriously men we had already talked about it. And we're all moving together.

That's why all my plans are geared toward moving them. So that they can start their life too in canada pending when we get PR

@cc: @danadigun234, @mamacajah answered your questions. Nothing to add.

Considering all this calculation done by @mamacajah, why not consider applying first, then later on apply for your spouse and kid to join. That way, the financial burden is a bit reduced(for now). Honestly, the VO will want to see much more than what @mamacajah (I don mention you tire... no vex) calculated above.

In my honest opinion, you should apply first and they can join you later.

But then the decision is yours to take but let your finances be at par with your decision too.

PS: I don ask this question before and nobody don answer me. Why e be say una wey don marry wan carry wife or husband follow body when una know say na just a matter of time dem go join una? (if na children i gree... but for oga/madamhuh)
grin bros no be my fault. Madam too fine grin grin I can't leave her alone oh.

Anyways thanks for your honest opinion. I guess I'll just gather what I can and give it a short and apply with my family, pray and see how it goes.

You guys are just amazing. Thanks for the response.

If you think your financial heft can stands the scrutiny of a VO, by all means apply with your family. It's a calculated risk you should take if you feel you can adequately document your financial ability before a VO for the upkeep of a family in Canada. Be also prepared to show ties in land and asset back in Nigeria. Many have done so successfully. Don't be afraid, go with your gut wrenching feelings. More importantly, pray! Best!
Thanks for the courage man. Will do my best and leave the rest. Thanks alot.

If it is a masters program and you are gong with dependents, then yes, your finances must cover the full study period of two years.

See the financial breakdown below based on your information (two adults and a child). You can adjust it to suit your circumstances.

Tuition
Student - $14k per yr = $28k for 2 yrs
Child - $12k per yr = $24k
(if less than 5 years, plan for daycare, avg cost is 1k )

Maintenance
Student - $10k per yr = $20k for 2 yrs
Child - $3k per yr = $6k
Spouse - $4k per yr = $8k

Total Expenditure = $86k (with child < 5yrs of age) or $62k (with child > 5yrs of age)
Today's exchange rate is N287 to $1CAD.

Looking at your current finance, the VO wants to see that you would have access to cash easily
so unless you have a buyer for the land, I left that aside, and added the others together..it came to $79k CAD.

My advise, go for a fully funded Masters program, that way your finances would be sufficient. Although the VO might want to see which home ties you would have if your family is coming with you..but some people have been able to scale through in the past.

hope this helps. Other gurus can come and lend a voice in this issue.
Chai!!! 79k = 22m. No be small thing oh.

Bros first, first...You too much. Thanks for breaking down the reality to me. This is what I wanted. It's just that in my heart of hearts I really will want to go with my family since my family is still young. IMHO separating the family for an extended period of time is a recipe for disaster which I do not want to start now all in the name of immigration.

Hello sir, just to help out, you need to calculate your tuition+maintenance+accommodation fees.
you did not state the duration of your intended program or what type of program..
is it a pgd or masters or phd?
is it 1/2/4 years program?

for dependents, spouse is calcualted at min. $4k CAD, children $3k CAD, while accommodation $10k CAD annually.
so use these metrics, check www.xe.com /www.abokifx.com for current exchange rate/ black market rate (last time I checked, the black market rate was N291 to $1 CAD..but that was 2 months ago..unsure of the current rate.)

Input the required figures into a table form and equate if the funds you have are over or equal to the funds required.

But the main issue you should be worried about is if your intended program will pass the VOs eligibility test...

Hope this helps.
Bro thanks a lot for your detailed and clear answer. My intended course of study is an MSc and for 2years. With the details above does it mean the total balance I should have must cover the entire two years (tuition + cost of living for 1adult and child) as stipulated by cic? Or at least 1yr?

Hi guys I need your input on this.

What is the possibility of getting approval for study visa/study permit if :

1. I have an account statement showing about 10m balance
2. Landed property valued at 12m
3. School fees 14,000CAD/YR
4. Gratuity document showing 13m
5. Traveling with my wife and daughter.

Please I'll appreciate your answer guys. Thank you so much.

Every application is unique in it's own way and tell it's own story irrespective of whether there is an SOP or not. Some applicants tell their story from their achievements and how progressive their academic inclination appears. SOP like i always say can help your application and at the same time mar it. Depending on what an applicant is trying to convey, it may or may not be necessary.
Two persons recently got their application approved without one. Mine too was approved without one. So it all depends on what you want the VO to know about your application/intention.

That someone included SOP to his/her application shouldn't automatically translate to it being compulsory. The VO are already trained to know what would make sense and what wouldn't. However, i still recommend it especially when there are discrepancies or when you need to share your passion around your proposed program or need to clarify concerns of a previous refusal. It whatsoever case, know why you are including it.
This is good info. I am yet to apply for my TRV. Still waiting for admission. I'll take note of this.

This should be useful. Get a company u are very familar with, either ur friends, family or ur company or any other one that u know a friend receives the company letter and request for ur transaction to b sent to that campany. It shouldn't take more that two weeks at worst a month. That should b that result cause as someone mentioned, u can request for a student trasnscrit from your school.
Thanks bros. I'll try that. But does it mean Conestoga doesn't accept transcripts directly from Universities? I don't understand. But they should know these things na... chai. Bros thanks sha

Good afternoon all,

This will be my first time of commenting on this thread even though i have been a silent follower for some time now. I am simply humbled by the shear volume of information on this thread. You guys have been awesome.

This is my concern and i hope to get help. I am currently applying to Conestoga College for a PGD. I noticed to complete the application, i need to upload all my documents including transcripts. The problem is My school doesn't give transcripts to students. They only send transcripts by mail to your school of choice.

For you guys that have applied to Conestoga please how did you do it? Or which address do i tell my school to send transcripts to? I have combed the entire conestoga website. i cant find any information on where transcripts are sent to. Please i need your help guys.
