Asking what Igbos contribute in Nigeria is one of the most foolish questions I have heard. To start with, can you imagine a Nigeria without Igbos?

Now, let's face facts:
1. Trade and Commerce (Igbos are in control and by virtue of this contribute most of the duties paid at the ports)

2. Services and Transport (Igbos dominate the Nollywood industry, transportation both air and land, Igbos also own lots of indigenous hotels in places like Abuja, Lagos, P.H, etc)

3. Sports and education (Igbos are by far tops in these sectors, you can check the super eagles, cadet teams, Nigerian players in Europe, Basketball, JAMB, WAEC, university enrollment etc.)

4. Human resources (Igbos no doubt have the best human resources in Nigeria, you can check those that ran the economy during the golden years of Nigeria before the civil war, check those that held critical positions during OBJ and GEJ governments, check the names of those that are making Nigeria proud abroad etc.)

5. Solid minerals and Agriculture (peddling lies and half truths can change hard facts. Granted that SE is small geographically, it doesn't mean it is not productive in terms of solid minerals and agriculture, coal, limestone, lignite, rice, palm produce, cassava, yam, vegetables etc. are available in commercial quantities)

6. Remittances (unknown to many, remittances is Nigeria's second highest forex earner after crude sales and we know the people that travel and hustle the most in Nigeria. Remittances are what some countries rely on and Igbos unarguably contribute the most here).

7. Industry (It is laughable that many Nigerians do not understand the industrial demography of Nigeria. Aside having industrial clusters in Nnewi, Onitsha, and Aba that manufacture lots of diverse goods for local use and exports, many do not know that Igbos own more industries in Ogun and Lagos than even the Yorubas. Check the owners of many indigenous industries in these places. Igbos took control of local trade and commerce in Nigeria, and as time went by, they engaged with the Chinese to start establishing the factories locally and this will continue even in the foreseeable future and there is nothing anyone can do about it).

8. Crude oil. (Some argue that Abia and Imo only produce little out but they forgot that these were part of the marginalization Igbos have been complaining about since they lost the civil war. Oil rich communities in Igboland were diabolically carved into Rivers State during state creation. It was so brazen that oil rich Egbema community was divided into two, and one part was carved into Rivers. Secondly Western region has remained as one while Eastern region was divided, most parts of Rivers State are Igbo speaking are we now going to deny that because some abo.kis somewhere decided to adjust our boundry?

9. Banking. (You can check where those that own UBA bank, Zenith Bank, Access bank, Fidelity bank etc come from).

I can go on and on but time and space will not permit me. The fact still remains that Nigeria will go bunkers without the Igbos and we have given so much to Nigeria while gaining so little.
