Politics › Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A Man Whose Track Record, Answers All Critics By Solomon by DanIduh06: 8:42am On Dec 11, 2020 |
TGNEWS: Based on my years of following Mr. Nuhu Ribadu from afar via my relationship with his younger brother, Abubakar whom I was a protege to during my days at A.B.U Zaria, I know he will not want to respond to the recent article from the Governor fintiri led administration concerning comments made by His successor; Mrs. Farida Waziri among other frivolous concocted statements born out of the figment of the imagination of the governor's spokesman.
Straightforward, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. The Fintiri led Administration cannot blame Nuhu Ribadu for the daily mass defection of PDP stakeholders to APC or has the media team of Governor Fintiri forgotten that the then acting governor was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for defrauding Adamawa State up to the tune of N970million and $4.830million which he consequently spent 60days inhugee prison.
The people of Adamawa have not quickly forgotten how Governor Fintiri In an interview with a radio station on Sunday, October 25, 2020 said the state government didn’t receive any food item from the federal government, despite the glaring videos, photos and written pieces of evidence, showing that Adamawa did receive over 100 trucks of food items from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. The minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, was physically in Adamawa to handover the items. Fintiri’s Chief of Staff Professor Maxwell Gidado and the Secretary to the Adamawa State government represented the government to receive the food items. While we are still on the Covid 19 relief matter, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State threatened to deal with a politician, Hussaini Nakura, who criticized the state government for allegedly hoarding the COVID-19 palliatives in the state.
Recall that Mr. Nakura, who is the Chairman of Adamawa Concerned Citizens, had earlier granted an interview to an online TV, alleging that the COVID-19 relief items were not distributed to the poor and vulnerable citizens of the state.
Mr. Nakura had also accused the governor of refusing to disclose the amount of money the state government received as COVID-19 donations from the federal government, banks, companies, and other donor agencies.
Upset by the comments, Mr. Fintiri put a telephone call to Mr. Nakura on Wednesday evening, threatening to deal with the politician.
According to the audio transcript of the telephone conversation which transpired in the Hausa language, Mr. Fintiri threatened to deal ruthlessly with Mr. Nakura for speaking the truth.
“I swear by Allah that I will deal with you ruthlessly if you ever speak about me. I promise that nobody can rescue you from my wrath in Nigeria,” he said.
During the short audio conversation obtained by DAILY NIGERIAN, Mr. Nakura told the governor to do his worst, since, according to him, he could only jail him.
“The worst thing you can do to me is to put me in jail,” Mr. Nakura said. You can agree with me that Governor Fintiri does not have the interest of the state at heart, but constantly embezzles government money at the expense of the poor masses of Adamawa State.
Solomon Kumangar, the governor’s SA on Media, is yet to return several calls put to him by several correspondents and he is asking a national hero who was recently among only 60 Nigerians honored at Nigeria at 60 events, a lifetime achievement recipient of the lifetime' global anti-corruption award, to stoop to his childish level of dirty politics? No way
Multiple contacts in Adamawa State who are familiar with the governor’s voice have confirmed that it was the government that issued the threat.
The final straw on the Covid 19 related matter was when Governor Fintiri imposed a lockdown throughout the state for 14 days, lamented that directives given to workers on grade level 1-14 to stay at home weren't adhered to, pleaded with citizens that they needed to ensure basic hygiene practices of handwashing, social distancing only to disgrace the people of Adamawa State in port Harcourt. FAAN in its tweet post said, “The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) hereby strongly condemns the conduct of the Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who arrived Port Harcourt International Airport aboard aircraft 5N-IZY, at 17.08 hrs on 14th July 2020 with 8 others, and who flagrantly refused to observe the airport security and public health protocols as directed by the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 by refusing to have their temperatures checked or being sanitized by health officials.
“His whole entourage of 8 did exactly as he did. The team that came to receive them drove right through the barricades up to the terminal building ignoring traffic and aviation security instructions. What a way to lead by Example your Excellency Sir.
The media team of Governor Fintiri isn't aware of the fact the Independent and Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) launched an investigation into alleged corrupt practices against Mrs. Farida Warizi during her tenure as EFCC boss from 2008 to 2011 from being accused of standing as surety to the indicted former governor of Benue State, George Akume to issuing official clearance letters to former governors who were indicted or being investigated for corruption by the then Chairman: Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, these include Mr. James Ibori who was convicted for theft and money laundering in the UK and Victor Attah, former governor of Akwa Ibom State also wanted by the UK.
As regards to questions the Fintiri led administration thinks Mr. Nuhu Ribadu has to answer, they were all answered in 2014, when the EFCC honored him and over 300 others in a well-publicized and elaborate event which I'm sure the spokesman of the Fintiri led administration was either too young or too uneducated in the media to recollect this event. During this event, Mr. Ribadu said “We believe we have clean hands and, therefore, we can clean the dirty faces of Nigerians,” and admonished staff of the commission to be steadfast in their commitment to the fight against corruption, describing the EFCC as his family.
According to him, “the EFCC remains my family and no matter how long, your good efforts will be rewarded. I urge you all not to worry about distractions but to continue to do your job no matter the circumstances and you will surely be rewarded.”
No fewer than 306 staff members of the EFCC were honored at the ceremony for serving the commission meritoriously in various capacities.
While 87 of the awardees were pioneer staff, 161 staff members were celebrated for meritoriously serving the commission in the past 10 years. IF the Fintiri led administration was to find solutions to the rising poverty and hardship in the state, he needs to seek the counsel of highly skilled technocrats like Nuhu Ribadu whose humility will not allow him to say no to the administration for the sake of the suffering masses in Adamawa State facing unthinkable and untold hardship.
Solomon Sule opinion writer Wrote this from Kogi State He can be reached through solazed@gmail.com You are not current with happenings in Adamawa. That you are directly or indirectly close to one of his brothers does not count. Let me correct some of your errors. Kumangar is not SA media. This your so called Messiah was rejected by the Adamawa people in both APC and PDP. Kogi issues should be given you sleepless nights but you choose to dwell on things you have little knowledge of. Remove the logs in your eyes first. Best wishes from Yola. |

ccffwx: I have not given up hope on becoming a lecturer. I hold a Masters degree in English Language and Literature as well as a Bachelors degree in the same discipline. I graduated as Best Graduating Student, applied for GA at my Alma mater but it was an effort in futility. Hard to believe but I have documents to back up my claim.
I proceeded with Masters, published a book and wrote some articles in journals and festschrifts. To build experience, I focused on expanding my teaching career.
I am sincerely and really interested in lecturing at the university level. Anyone who can help should kindly do so. I have been applying to various universities but the Nigerian university system prefers connection to merit/ contribution to knowledge. Thank you.

wip7: Hello,
Real Collaboration is not about generating data for me to fine-tune. I don’t know source of data, who is collecting and how is collected and for what specific purpose etc.
Scientific collaboration to me means: the problem, the possible solutions, hypothesis, Methodology, source of data collection, data collection devices all be discussed as intellectuals. During the discussion the collaborators will be able to identify their key strength and signify sections to significantly contribute while all collaborators monitors the project progress and comments stagewise.
That way people will learn missing skills or develop their inherent skills which will spark further cooperation and individual growth.
I am not collaborating because I need a paper to be published with some people but am initiating a collaboration for the collaborators to learn from my wealth of experience and for me to learn from theirs.
I hope this expantiante my earlier post. Please explain to your lecturers, if this fits there academic style, you can send me collaborators full details to get aclimitize to their current research.
Best wishes Thank you Prof. I do want to learn. But as an intending academic one of objectives is to publish in top journals. Though I was trying to say if we could use Nigeria as a case study ( after proper research design), since you are not based in Nigeria. I spoke for myself. Some of the intending collaborators are professors already. Thanks. |

wip7: We have the electrochemical station in my lab, to be good, one may need to have access to the device, how to use it, interpret the results and many other things.
If you want to get attached to a university in Nigeria and your supervisor there approves you to work on this, we can make video training on the research and you can see when we are ready. But it will make a lot of sense if you are developing the biosensor yourself and testing it in your local environment. For example; if you design a sensor for the detection of illicit drugs, and want to promote its robustness to law enforcement company/agency, you need the portable handheld device with you to demonstrate it.......without that you can do anything. If you will work on sensors for detection of pesticides in agricultural fields, you need the device on the field. Its tiny and can fit into your phone.
First spend time come up with the specific ones that interest you, then you will do comprehensive literature review and from there one can know more what you need to enhance and then the main research can be fabricated. wip7: We have the electrochemical station in my lab, to be good, one may need to have access to the device, how to use it, interpret the results and many other things.

[quote author=wip2 post=94012229]Research on Rapid-point-of-Use Sensor
My lab is currently building fantastic and commercial viable sensor technologies using molecularly imprinted technologies. The sensor are able to detect multiple heavy metals in various sources, food pathogens and their toxins and cancer biomarkers.
Here are our recent work.
Collaboration with African-based Researcher:
To assist and train interested researchers in Africa, I am wiling to collaborate with few persons interested to carry out research in the following fields: 1. Electrochemical SENSORS 2. Wastewater treatment technology via photocatalysis
The aim is to train the researchers on how to carry out research, write reputable papers and publish in reputable journals so that person can create another chain reactions.
Progress will be disseminated timely
I will put up some characteristics and profile I am interested to work with.
My dear Prof. At the mention of sensors, the child in me kicks for joy. I once discussed this with supervisor at Unilag (masters in microbiology), but the prospect is dim. Pls, if there is a way I could come in as an assistant (just to assist in laboratory), it will go a long way in helping me.
I intend considering this area for my research next year.
If u think it's necessary, I can network the HOD's of microbiology at University of Lagos and University of Jos to join your team.
Please, I really need this.
Warm Regards. |
