Abagworo: @beaf and the funny policemen. We do not need any oracle to know that Boko Haram itself is not Nigerian. I argued deeply with you about this when you earlier accused Buhari of being behind Boko Haram. I also mentioned Niger,Chad,Northern Sudan and Libyan rebels as the major sponsors. I did not mention Cameroun though traces of them are there. There are insiders as well inside Government and military with some foot soldiers. Know way the Boko Haram of 2009 can do coordinated hits like that. This is something else. Wouldnt be suprised if theres Western funding as well. Look at Libya, |

Politics › Political Plot To Bomb Inec, Cbn: To Be Blamed On Boko Haram by DanKan0(op): 4:12am On Jan 24, 2012 |
Defence authorities have reportedly uncovered a plot to bomb the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Also on attack in a fresh orgy of violence set to be unleashed on Abuja, the federal capital, is a highbrow hotel in the heart of the city (name withheld by us).
However, detailed analysis of the plot, which was said to have been picked by the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) as well as the Defence Intelligence, reportedly indicated that it had a political undertone and was part of the fireworks over next month’s gubernatorial elections in Adamawa and Bayelsa States.
Military sources confided that the planned attack on the critical facilities, if executed, would be blamed on the rampaging Islamist sect, Boko Haram, but an analysis of information available to the military intelligence authorities traced the plot to the machinations of ‘do-or-die politicians’.
Specifically, the plot to bomb the INEC head office in Abuja is said to be linked to the governorship polls slated for Adamawa and Bayelsa States on February 4 and 11 respectively. While a former military administrator of Lagos State, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (retd.) of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and incumbent Governor, Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd.), are the major contenders in Adamawa State, Governor Timipre Sylva is slugging it out with a federal legislator, Hon. Seriake Dickson in Bayelsa State.
Intelligence sources said the bombings on the CBN headquarters and the hotel had been planned to take place simultaneously to give an indication of coordinated attacks on national assets with a pre-arranged plan for a fake Boko Haram spokesman to announce through a foreign media station that the sect was responsible for the attacks. Consequently, the defence authorities have reportedly placed a security alert on the FCT with a directive that the present military strength at INEC, CBN and the hotel, among other critical facilities, should be beefed up. Politics › Gunmen Kidnap American In Nigeria's Delta Region by DanKan0(op): 5:10am On Jan 21, 2012 |
(Reuters) - Gunmen kidnapped an American working for Marubeni Corp in Nigeria's oil-rich Niger Delta region on Friday, killing his driver and demanding a 50 million naira ($310,300) ransom, a security source said.
The U.S. embassy confirmed that one of its citizens had been abducted.
"A foreign national was kidnapped this morning in Warri by gunmen who trailed him from Sapele," Charles Muka, spokesman for the Delta Police Command, told Reuters.
"They killed his police escort and forcefully took him away from the car. He was going to the bank when the attack occurred," he said.
A security source, who could not be named, said that the hostage was an American working for Japanese conglomerate Marubeni, but gave no further details.
"The U.S. Embassy and Consulate are aware of the kidnapping of an American citizen this morning in Warri. We continue to monitor the situation closely and assist," a spokeswoman for the U.S. embassy told Reuters.
The Niger Delta, heartland of Africa's biggest oil and gas industry, is prone to bouts of unrest and riven by militant factions. Gangs use guns and speedboats to run criminal fiefdoms that profit from kidnapping and oil theft.
Militant activity decreased after an amnesty for several commanders in 2009, but the region remains volatile. |
