prettytasha: The topic time travel is a very interesting topic that ignites the curiosity of everybody . time travel maybe possible , but am sorry you cannot travel back in time and see how the pyramids were built ,or witness the french revolution , but some scientists like albert einstein and rosen proposed theories that says its possible to travel into th future . These theories were special relativity and quantum mechanics.
WORMHOLES;Einstein suggested the theoretical existence of "bridges" through time and space – often referred to as wormholes. His theory has been further developed by numerous physicists including Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne.
"The basic idea if you're very, very optimistic is that if you fiddle with the wormhole openings, you can make it not only a shortcut from a point in space to another point in space, but a shortcut from one moment in time to another moment in time," Professor Brian Greene, a prominent string-theory physicist,
PROBLEM; No wormhole has ever been discovered, and even if it was, it would be far too small for scientists to manipulate for the purposes of time travel – measuring just a billion-trillion-trillionth of a centimetre across. They also pose a significant risk, bringing with them the threat of sudden collapse, high levels of radiation and contact with dangerous exotic matter, Space.com warns.
Wormholes are unstable because of the feedback created by this radiation, "So although tiny wormholes do exist, and it may be possible to inflate one someday, it won't last long enough to be of any use as a time machine."
Cosmic strings Described as one-dimensional "cracks in the universe" and some of the strangest structures observed by cosmologists, cosmic strings could help us navigate through time. "Cosmic strings are either infinite or they're in loops, with no ends", "So they are either like spaghetti or Spaghetti Os."
Problem: Again, cosmic strings only exist only in theory. "This is a project a super civilisation might attempt," says Gott. "It's far beyond what we can do. We're a civilisation that's not even controlling the energy resources of our planet."
Supermassive black hole; black holes are so dense that they have a dramatic impact on time, slowing it down more than anything else in the universe. If a spaceship were to orbit a black hole, those on board would only experience eight minutes of time for every 16-minute orbit.
Problem:
Black holes are more practical than wormholes because they don't present the same paradoxes and won't be destroyed by feedback. "but its quite dangerous "It's a long way away and it doesn't even take us very far into the future
Travelling at the speed of light Another possibility would be travelling at the speed of light, a constant, finite speed of 186,000 miles per second. That makes me wonder the data consumption rate of the application they use. Though I know the data consumption rate of apps and various internet activities differs. Some may say it's whatsapp while other will say snapchat or any other app.
For me, YouTube consumes most of my of my data, though I try as much as I can to avoid it sometimes. How about you?

In medicine we use X-rays, radioisotope and nuclear
magnetic resonance imaging. In addition, laser, electron
microscopes, synchrotron radiation, and electronics all
depend on advances made in physics.
Where would our modern western economies be without
computers?—we could not build the electronics that modern
computers rely on without a knowledge of quantum mechanics.
Our modern world is much more connected than in previous
historical times. These days we travel far, communicate
easily and quickly, and conduct business around the world
effortlessly. In fact almost no place on earth has been
excluded from the modern interconnected world.
We are not only connected with physics through modern
technology we are connected at a much more basic level
through mother nature. The tsunami in Sumatra Indonesia is
a prime example. Not only was it catastrophic for the local
area the laws of physics saw this tsunami travel across the
Indian Ocean killing over 300,000 in Southeast Asia, and
traveling through more than 30 other countries resulting in
more than 500 deaths. This was the law of physics in
action. |

Physics - the study of matter, energy and their
interactions – is an international enterprise, which plays
a key role in the future progress of humankind. The support
of physics education and research in all countries is
important because: physics is and exciting intellectual
adventure that inspires young people and expands the
frontiers of our knowledge about nature.
Physics is the most basic of the physical sciences. From
chemistry and geology through to biology and cosmology, we
understand science in terms of the concepts developed in
physics. Not only this, but many of the tools on which the
advances of science and technology depend are direct product
of physics.
The interests and concerns of physicists have always formed
the basis of future technology. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Our Dangerous Prayers, Using Holy Ghost Fire As A Weapon Of Destruction by darkhorizon: 8:29am On Aug 16, 2015 |
nonnyno: Last Monday night I was awakened by the unusual screams and shouts of prayers emanating from a nearby compound. I quickly decided to pay attention to the pattern of the prayers which were somehow strange to me, coming from a catholic background. From my apartment I became an uninvited observer since the noise from the prayer had already ruined my precious sleep.
Throughout the prayer session, I noticed that shouts of ‘Holy Ghost Fire’ Fire, Fire and ‘die by fire’ dominated the prayers. This was repulsive and I thought to myself that it is one of the destructive patterns of prayers being propagated by some new generation churches nowadays. Not long ago I shared my thought with a colleague during an argument on this pattern of prayer especially the wrong use of the Holy Ghost Fire which I not only consider destructive but also dangerous. Coincidentally, I am sharing my thought again on this topic a week after the Pentecost was commemorated in our churches.
I was raised in a catholic family although my parents later converted to Assemblies of God which is also a moderate, not too aggressive or radical church. In Catholic Church we have routine pattern of prayer which we follow religiously and are not used to the destructive and offensive pattern of prayer that is somehow becoming in vogue in our churches that even the charismatic in the Catholic Church have copied it. Catholics are usually gentle and humble in prayers. They appeal and plead to God with great reverence and adulation, like a child seeking favour from his father. It is never in their nature to use coercion to obtain favours from God. That is exactly the way I was raised.
Until late 90s and early 2000, this kind of violent prayer pattern was not very rampant. It rather got sway immediately many prayer houses and new generation churches began to spring up in great numbers. In fact things took a new turn in our primordial prayer pattern once the hunger for spiritual powers and miracles stole the minds of Christians. Since then things have not been the same. Church has become a booming business where both the called and the uncalled compete with one another, each trying to outsmart the other. To reach the pinnacle of the business, some men of God have even gone fetish and brought in strategies that should not be ordinarily acceptable in Christianity religion. That is if churches are being regulated.Call it creativity or deception, but these men of God have a way of manipulating the bible and twisting the interpretations of the verses to bamboozle their followers and also suite their style of worship. They get their members spellbound that they forget themselves and start worshipping their pastors and not God. In some cases the pastors tame and hypnotize their followers that they lose their common sense and become incapable of deciphering the good spirit from the bad spirit. Remember that the bible says that every spirit must be put to test but this is no longer adhered to. Christians are gradually losing their inner spiritual eyes as they are busy running after miracle workers and prophets who now decide their fates.
In their uncanny ways, some of these new generation pastors have come up with an aggressive pattern of prayer whereby members shout, scream, wail and issue threats to the devil and their enemies all in the name of prayer. I would not mention names of churches that operate in this way for security reasons but they are numerous, some very notable with large congregation. In these churches, prayer has now assumed a new dimension where we can issue commands and orders to God with boldness. They often refer to book of Matthew 11:12 where it says that the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent men take it by force.
Now, to my main concern for writing on this topic which I mentioned earlier – that Holy Ghost fire is being abused and misused. Honestly, I cannot say if it is by mistake, lack of knowledge of the bible or ignorance that has made some Christians tend to misconceive the fire of the Holy Spirit for a destructive fire which can be used to attack and destroy the enemies and evil spirits at will. Holy Ghost fire is also being converted to missiles and other weapons of destructions that we now hear of Holy Ghost missile, Holy Ghost thunder, Holy Ghost arrows, Holy Ghost bullet etc in our churches. This is a very dangerous trend and must be addressed. That there is fire in Holy Ghost does not necessarily signify that it is a consuming fire which burns and hurt like the normal flames we know. The fire of the Holy Ghost is rather holy.
furthermore, in my quest to unearth the basis for which some of my fellow Christians had to adopt this style of prayer, I had to research my bible just to be sure that I am not the one that is ignorant of the teachings of Christ as I am not a wonderful bible student. The first thing that came to my mind during that spiritual exercise was where Jesus promised his disciples that he will send them a comforter, the Holy Spirit in John 16:7. The second was the book of Acts 2:1 – 47 where the Holy Spirit manifested himself to the disciples in a tongues of fire during the Pentecost and they started speaking in tongues. Fortunately, the Pentecost week just ended and the teachings during that period revolved mostly on what Christians should do to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. I am not wrong therefore to believe that the Holy Ghost is a helper, a comforter, a guide, a counselor, an advocate. I was more convinced after hearing the message of the pentecost that the Holy Spirit is friendly and not a wicked spirit.
How then did we come about this idea of using the Holy Spirit to destroy and attack the enemies of our faith? Could it be from the book of Hebrew 12:29 where it says that our God is a consuming fire? I searched more and deeper into the bible but did not see any verse where neither Jesus Christ nor the early disciples used the fire of the Holy Spirit to destroy things. It was not even used to cast away demons and the evil spirits rather we were instructed by Jesus in the book of Mark 16:17 to cast demons in his name. The much I know of the Holy Ghost fire is that it descends on believers and endow them with gifts which they will use to serve God. In fact, to the best of my understanding I see the Holy Ghost as a very benevolent, replenishing spirit which every Christian needs for renewal and to be equipped for the ultimate mission of propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ.
interestingly, the most striking aspect of this misnomer is the manner at which brethren respond and echo Holy Ghost fire when prayers are being said. I noticed from all the church programmes I have attended recently, that people participate more in prayers at that point where Holy Ghost fire is mentioned. Everybody suddenly gets involved in the prayer even those that had dozed off and where hitherto absent-minded. They would not mind screaming Holy Ghost fire the whole day provided that it is channeled at destroying and burning their enemies. In some ministries, members of the congregation are often asked to stretch their hands toward a certain direction and names will be mentioned while Holy Ghost fire will be echoed. I am guilty of this also but at some point in my Christian life I decided not to swallow every teaching hook, line and sinker without seeking to know if my bible supports it. After all we all have access to the bible.
My understanding is that our manner of praying is a reflection of our kind of persons. We are living in a wicked world full of evil and destructions. These evils are being perpetrated by people and not spirits. The hearts of men are evil and that is why in our prayers and in churches we unwittingly pour out our heart. It is malicious and vicious to wish our enemies dead to the extent of calling on Holy Ghost fire to come down and burn them to ashes. Some churches have even composed songs asking Holy Ghost fire to pursue and burn their enemies, this is wrong. Is it not the bible that says in the book of Matthew 5 verse 44 that we should love and pray for our enemies?I had once imaging what would be our fate should Holy Spirit hearken to these our malicious prayers and respond by fire, probably we will all be dead. God’s way is different from ours, anyway. He is not vindictive, he is not malicious and he is not destructive. He is a merciful God and that was why Jesus Christ forgave those that crucified him. Therefore as Christians, we must learn to forgive.
It is also disappointing that this pattern of prayer is more peculiar to the black Africans especially my Nigerian Christians as the Europeans who brought Christianity to the shores of Africa do not pray in this manner. Why should we Africans always identify with the negativism. The truth is that we often celebrate the travails of others and consciously or unconsciously we reflect it in our religious practices. I suggest we ponder and reflect on some of our actions as Christians to know if they are in consonance with the teachings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Let us not be hypocrites that pay lip service and parade about with bible. I also doubt if any denomination can have such pattern of prayer entrenched in its doctrines because the bible still remain the basic tool and book of teachings in Christendom.
Whoever brainwashed us in this regard should realize that as Christians, we are expected to emulate the life and teachings of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Therefore abusing and misusing the Holy Ghost fire makes our Christian faith to appear tenuous. I call on our religious leaders, clergies and religious bodies to help us correct this negative trend of using Holy Ghost fire as a weapon of destruction. I also wish to suggest that the ugly trend be looked into and our Christian folks reoriented on the basic tenets of the bible. Churches should also review their theology curriculum and hastily do away with any subject that encourages the aggressive and violent use of Holy Ghost fire as a weapon of destruction. Only those who love violence, pray in violent manner but Christianity does not support violence, after all Jesus Christ taught us humility and virtue, and not violence.
My advice to my fellow Christians is that we should stop following the bandwagon and the foolish majority, rather we should be watchful for there are many false prophets in town seeing visions and performing miracles. Do not be deceived by their antics.

xynerise: Going through the developmental stages in life, some teens tend to take a wrong detour in life. Many teens are becoming rebellious to their parents and causing disunity in the family. Setting their own rules in the house and disrespecting anybody who tries to stop them from doing what they wish to do.
"Spare the rod and spoil the child". Does this also applies to teenagers? I guess not. What other psychological ways can we correct this rebellion? If its a boy, rebelling is normal, and also with some girls with masculine essence. But some guys learn from it fast, some learn later in life, while some live with it forever.....a guy that learns from it,afterwards sees life in a different light and these kindda people are the ones that later grow up to be accomplished, and they deepen their masculine essence, they get all the girls also... the ones that live with it forever become bitter people forever, and will always blame!e their parents for everything that happens to them. There is a solution: (an expert in psychology taught me to do this,I am currently rebelling against my mom,I am 17) 1.Guys who rebel, and don't learn fast are the ones that lack deep masculine essence, their father is absent(my case also, since childhood) or they have a pussy as a father(man with a feminine essence).as my case,I was advised to get close to my father or a man with a strong masculine essence, that will embrace me as his own(I also noticed that my friend who was also rebelling before became extremely better in everything, ever since he bonded so close with his father, who was also away due to work, like mine),and those who have a father, and still rebel, that means his father has a feminine essence,so maybe his father is not a good Example enough, and maybe his mother is then the one with the masculine essence)... this case,he should bond with someone else with a masculine essence. The reason why guys rebel according to experts is to feel masculine enough, which is what their peers push them to do,another solution for a guy with this problem is to have a lot of guys who have masculine essence as friends(but this is not as effective as a father figure) 2.Girls who rebel, should do the exact opposite, they need to feel their deep feminine essence, and may need a mother figure or may not,at this stage those mother figures will teach them things the don't know, that they ought to know...the strange thing is that if a girl has a father with a strong masculine essence, and she is close to him,she will develop a stronger feminine essence. (shikena).I hope this helped. |

Dekatron: From ATOMS to the HUMAN MIND, FROM FINANCE TO ASTRONOMY, PHYSICS EXPLAINS IT ALL
INFACT, PHYSICS IS GOD People should worship physics, really.
I WANTED TO STUDY PHYSICS, but that would be shooting myself in the leg, in this NIGERIA. I wish i know it though Yep...Physics is basically what Nigeria needs,to meet up with developed countries |

RobinHez: No offeinse...I also love physics...but this is why I think those epistles up there are not needed...
Notice it comes with dollar and euro sign...
No go study physics as course 4 school because of dat info o...unless, ur shoe go dey treck on saturdays when u no dey go look 4 work! I am actually still studying it,but the job aspect,I will totally disagree with you, lemme give you an example in the educational aspect:in unilorin, where I am, 60% of engineering hods are physicist, even the dean is a physicist. in the medical line:recently,a job vacancy was at one of those northern universities for a medical physicist, and the starting salary was about #550k for a bsc graduate, for that matter....so if na job,a physicist that knows his value won't have a problem securing one..... |

It has however been stretched to the yield point,(not the elastic limit).heheee.of how Physics is the best thing known to man. This course is the basis of how we live,why we are here,how we move,etc...This is the mother of all "ENGINEERING COURSES",the mother of geophysics and many other things but before we go further,let me tell you this;
So, what can you do with a physics degree? One possibly appealing aspect of studying physics is the diversity of physics careers, which are not set in any one direction. Physics graduates have skills that are in high demand in diverse sectors. These include skills relating to numeracy, problem-solving, data analysis and the communication of complex ideas, as well as a wider understanding of how the world works, on a scientific and human level. This highly transferable and valued skillset also means physics graduates earn more! According to the Institute of Physics (IOP), while the average graduate starting salary in the UK is UK£19,700 (approx. US$29,270), those with a BSc in Physics earn 14% more (£22,500, approx. $33,410), and this increases to 18% more (£23,300; $34,600) for those with a Master of Physics (MPhys).
This course is actually a diverse course, very dynamic, there is nothing you can't do with it,from the Medical line,to law,to technology, to teaching, engineering, marketing and finance(I know you laughed at this, but yeah, that's how diverse Physics is).
But I won't be able to show you how diverse it is,cause that wan na long story, but I will show you some of its branches here:
1.Research scientist careers Although it is possible to enter into scientific research as a trainee or technician with a good undergraduate degree, those looking to pursue long-term careers in research should consider further study, as senior research roles are often reserved for those with at least a master’s degree. As well as the MSc, MPhys and PhD qualifications, leading researchers can also gain the title of ‘Chartered Physicist’ (CPhys) from the Institute of Physics (IOP). The main reason to study physics at graduate level is to help you gain more in-depth, specialized knowledge, to prepare you to work effectively in a specific field. Potential areas of specialization include astrophysics, particle physics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, meteorology, condensed matter theory, quantum dynamics, applied physics, plasma physics, aerospace dynamics, atomic and laser physics, atmospheric, oceanic and planetary physics and climate science.
2.Physics careers in space and astronomy Everyone wants to be an astronaut where they’re young, but if you study physics you may actually have a chance! Of course, roles within the space sector are limited and highly competitive, and most do not include any direct involvement in space travel. For administrative and trainee roles in this sector, an undergraduate degree may be sufficient, but for higher-level and more specialized roles, you’ll almost certainly need at least a master’s degree. As well as research institutes, within both the public and private sectors, other organizations offering roles related to space and astronomy include museums and planetariums. Many professional astronomers can also be found conducting research and teaching within universities and colleges, or research labs and observatories with affiliations to academic institutions. As an astronomer, your job would essentially be to study the universe, collecting data from global satellites and spacecraft and operating radio and optical telescopes. Other tasks within this sector include investigation and research of new materials and technologies, measuring performance of existing materials and technologies, and problem-solving at the design stage.
3.Physics careers in healthcare Although it may not be the first industry you think of, physics careers in the healthcare sector are numerous. Medical physics overlaps significantly with biomedical engineering, and physicists work alongside biomedical engineers to create, review and maintain medical technologies and equipment. Although cardiology and neurology are areas reserved for those with an additional medical degree, physicists are regularly employed within areas such as radiology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine, in order to test and approve the latest technologies and equipment. As well as testing, responsibilities in this area include research, design and quality assurance. Research-based roles in this field are available within medical technology companies, healthcare providers, research centers and academic institutions. Knowledge of accelerator physics, radiation detection and materials science is valuable for many of these roles, and a master’s degree in a relevant specialization (e.g. medical physics) will also give you a leg up into the industry.
4.Physics careers in engineering The engineering sector provides many careers in physics, particularly within manufacturing and technology-based roles. Physics graduates are often tasked with improving and developing products and manufacturing processes, and benefit from a large range of potential employers spanning multiple industries such as medicine, energy, renewable energy, transport, defense, space exploration and telecommunications.
5.Physics careers in energy Whether we’re talking about renewable or non- renewable energy, there are plenty of careers in physics within the energy sector. Alongside the rise of renewable energy, oil and gas companies remain big players in the energy market, and are major employers for physics graduates. One area of focus is on extracting fossil fuel reserves in the most efficient way possible, using knowledge of the Earth’s characteristics and the newest technologies. With the prospect of fossil fuels running out, energy companies are also branching out into renewable alternatives such as wind and solar energy, and are investing heavily in research and development in this area, offering much career potential. Your role here could be to collaborate with other scientists and engineers to develop efficient and functional energy systems which harness the Earth’s energy sustainably and cost-effectively.
6.Physics careers in technology A broad arena of continual growth and innovation, the technology sector is a constant source of new opportunities, challenges and career paths. For physics graduates, there is scope to work alongside other specialists in order to develop new ideas and products. Fields with particularly high demand for research and development workers from various backgrounds include relatively young and potential-rich fields such as robotics, nanoscience and nanotechnology. Technology careers in physics may be based in public or private-sector research centers. Many opportunities for graduates are available within large technology companies such as Philips or Siemens, as these businesses are keen to attract innovative and talented researchers from around the world.
7.Geophysics and meteorology careers Those who study physics are also prime candidates for environmental careers, thanks to their scientific understanding of the ways in which the Earth functions. While geophysicists are more concerned with the prediction of natural disasters, meteorologists focus on areas such as daily weather forecasting, as well as researching the long-term effects of climate change.
8.And finally, what can you do with a physics degree if none of the options above appeals to you? Well, you could use your mathematical proficiency to enter into the financial world, or your knowledge of technological innovation to head into a relevant field of the legal sector (such as patent law or forensics). Media and entertainment are two more potential industries, where physicists are in demand for roles such as scientific journalism, computer game programming and film special effects. Other options include roles in teaching, manufacturing, transport, architecture and communications.
If it weren’t for physicists, the modern world would be a very different place. The study of physics has brought underlies so many pivotal discoveries of the 20 century – including the laser, TV, radio, computer technology, DNA and nuclear weapons for instance – and has played a vital role in the development of quantum theory, the theory of relativity, the big bang theory, and the splitting of the atom.
All ye,bow to the mother of nature: PHYSICS. |

temmypotter: Proudly Physics with Electronics. Double honours. Lol... As far as I'm concerned, PHYSICs is harder than most of those courses up there! Are you kidding me!... You can't study any field in Physics with an average IQ! Mbanu! The likes of albert eistein, isaac Newton,Nikola Tesla(critically acclaimed Highest IQ ever!.. Post humous test puts his IQ at over 300),Christopher Hirata(professor of Physics,field-black energy and he doubles as the second highest iQ holder alive 229..in case you are wondering the highest IQ holder is not from any of the courses above! He's a Mathematician (terrence tao PHD mathematics).. ), Another man worthy of mention is Steve Hawkings.. A disabled man.. But with an IQ that puts latent power to kinetic. You would agree with me that PHYSICS is indeed a force to. Be reckoned with greatly in the old world, the present and in The future. Cc: all physicists. Abeg help me tell them ooo |

mencade5: ok....but wat is d difference? Physics (Edu),is an Education course, which means you will be taught how teach basic Physics.. Physics(Bsc) on the other hand,is virtually the hardest course to study anywhere in the world, and is the most respected in developed countries (USA,UK,Russia etc),this is the course that breed geniuses, like Newton,Tesla,Einstein just to name a few. This is also the course engineering came from..do your research bro. |
