Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe In Superstitions? Like These Ones... by darkhorizon: 1:02pm On Jul 25, 2016

Dang... That Schrödinger ish is Classic.. Superstition holds sway in Africa though ..

The Dream part gets to me sha.. People actually think dreams are supernatural moments.. Methinks Dreams are all about the Interpretation of our Brain functions during sleep.. We create cities, cars, people, conversations, actions and sometimes, we experience the dream-inside-a-dream moment...

Einstein is another being entirely.. His works are pure class and I hold his findings in high regards...

Thanks for the piece you wrote brother.. Now, I gotta read more on this...
einstein never worked or contributed to quantum mechanics: his work is relatitity(general & special) and nothing more.

I've always wanted to be a scientist like Einstein, wear a white lab coat and invent things. When I got to senior secondary, I decided to go for Mech. Engr. because people said it was the only way to make money. I still thank God that it didn't work out for me and very soon I'll be the scientist that I've always dreamt of.
What Course??

unfortunately, this is what most of them end up doing. Am a Physics graduate, beautiful course though, but its not a course I would want my child to study. Physicists & Mathematicians are not appreciated in Nigeria

wow! physics graduates are hot cakes in Nigeria.there are numerous career paths awaiting them such as;
1.secondary school physics teacher
2.secondary school physics teacher
3.secondary school physics teacher
4.secondary school physics teacher
5.secondary school physics teacher
6.secondary school physics teacher
.
.
.
let's not forget-they can easily diversify to teach intro-tech,basic science,maths... etc.they can even teach indegenious languages like yoruba,hausa,edo,igbo... depending on their tribe.
Ignorance (foolishness in your own case) is a choice, and am not going to convince you to change your choice, but at least get someone with a working brain to research for you,and break down everything for you, because you my friend don't have a brain.

Lol. In nigeria physics is for the engineering rejects. Hahahaha
mathematics>engineering >>>> physics
Typical of a misinformed person.
At my school,200 level physics with a population of 114,the so called engineering rejects are less than 10,so what's your point??

This is the one problem I have with internet reviews Sugarcoating
They sugarcoat everything to the extent that one would think being a physicist equals being a millionaire..
Baba, forget equations...

I'd choose money over knowledge
I'd choose Engineering over physics
If u think getting a B.sc in physics will get u a good job, then you are sleeping on the bicycle,
Applied physics is the way to go...

BTW, m a proud physicist..
As for me,i'd choose physics over any form of engineering... I just dont buy the idea of the OP taking shots at engineers, there's a purpose for their existence... BTW what school? And level?

Surprising huh? Well . . . here's my man Chuck Berry with 'Johnny Be Goode' - 1958. (Not to be confused with Jimi Hendrix's posthumous album of the same name, mind you). Guitar work is amazing wink

Has PEMDAS Really Taken Over From BODMAS?

"In those days", one of the rules of Algebra in solving of equations was to use the mnemonics BODMAS - as the order of operations to follow....

B - for Brackets
O - for Of
D - for Division
M - for Multiplication
A - for Addition
S - for Subtraction

Yesterday while discussing this "almighty" order of solving equations with a young undergraduate, he politely informed me that my BODMAS of yesteryears is no more! That rather it is now PEMDAS that is now being taught in schools and colleges.....

P - for Parentheses
E - for Exponent
M - for Multiplication
D - for Division
A - for Addition
S - for Subtraction

While an ancient like me can allow the fresh nomenclatures for "Brackets" and "Of" of yesteryears, when did "Division" lose its position for "Multiplication"? He could not answer me!

Finally, is it now true that "Multiplication" has taken precedence over "Division" against what the Entebbe Workshop that became "Modern Mathematics" of the 1960s taught to people of my generation?
BODMAS is for Mathematics,as PEDMAS is for programming

Well...if not THE father, then at least definitely ONE of the fathers of modern physics.

I dont know who you are, or the authority by which you speak; but...was that all you could take home from the writeup?
Don't get It wrong,Newtons work are classified under Classical Physics...
Modern Physics you are talking about started in the late 19th century with Max Planck, so get your facts right Sir... Modern Physics include;Relativity, Quantum mechanics, Nuclear physics and the like, and classical physics which Newton is a part of fails in this aspect.

holocron:
It might be difficult to convince you within the small space of this medium. But the bottom line is this:

No one (even atheists) denies the complexity and mystery that permeates the universe. Humanity, has since the dawn of consciousness, tried to make sense of the world by personal experience, observations, and analysis (what you have just been doing).

Different societies have theorized; from fables and legends, to different religions.

I think it would be self-evident that the validity of a theory and explaination of the world is the effect and extent such theory helps its adherents to change the physical world to their benefit.

Now, the scientific materialist worldview has allowed the europeans/american and asians to make such rapid strides in physical development, that for all practical purposes, Africans might as well be living in a different Planet. And indeed, they are. The juju mentality just does not effectively explain reality; that's why you cant use it to acheive any physical development.

Now, all those juju examples you gave can equally be explained away by ordinary causes, which you might or might not accept. But..."all things being equal, the simplest explanation must be the right one"

Everything so far known about the universe, points out that it is a rule based universe. It is not capricious. So if anything like juju manifests, it should be studied, and exploited for human
benefit, because there must be an underlying principle to it.

But sadly, even the whites have studied the occult, and given it up. Those previous occultic practices like alchemy, were the things that the whites converted to the scientific disciplines of chemistry, pharmacy, and metallurgy.

Isaac Newton, the famous scientist known as the father of modern physics, was also known as the last of the magicians.

Let's wise up.
What is this one saying,Isaac Newton, father of modern physics kehuh
I bet u just learnt physics from reading atheist comment about it here online.

This remind me of these courses: STATISTICS IN ENGINEERING. There is this topic that scared us that time & we rename that course by the name of that topic ''POISON'' but I like the course when it comes to construction of ANOVA TABLE, REGRESSION & CORRELATION. God saved me, I managed to scale through. Also this course, NUMERICAL METHODS. I hate this topic under it RINGE KUTTA METHOD, especially when you're taking about 4th, 5th......orders. But I like SIMPSON'S RULE, GAUSS-SEIDEL ITERATION, NEWTON GREGORY FORMULA....
Are you kidding me,those courses you mentioned above are big bonuses, and are easy. Like I said earlier you just need to grasp the basics.

Hello guys,I am a 200level physics student in a federal university.I had a CGPA of 2.87 in my 100level...and I have also being informed that the highest I can graduate with is a 2,1,but my target has being a First Class ever since ...I am not happy with my CGPA at all,and i feel I could have done better than that, because I am better than what I have,so i am considering starting afresh,I want to buy an IJMB form, do you think its advisable, or I should just go on with my course and collect my 2,1.
NOTE: I will be in 200 level, when my mates are in 400 level,I I take up the IJMB form.

Your response is highly is needed.
