Politics › Re: Tribunal Issues Subpoena On INEC Chairman Over Atiku, PDP's Complaints by datarex: 4:46pm On Jul 17, 2019 |
Correctgist: The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has ordered the issuance of subpoena on the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Zamfara State.
They are, by the subpoena issued on July 9, 2019, expected to appear and produce some documents used for the last election, required by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, who are petitioners before the tribunal.
At the resumption of proceedings on Wednesday, petitioners’ lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN), told the tribunal that the subpoena had been served on the two officials but they have failed to either appear or make available the documents requested.
He said subpoena are like summons from a court that the subject must obey.
Tribunal Chairman, Justice Mohammed Garba noted that from the record of the court, Yakubu was served with the subpoena on July 15, 2019 when he was required to produce the documents.
Garba also noted that the one on the Zamfara REC was served on July 12.
He asked INEC’s lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN) to take the necessary steps to ensure the subpoena is complied with.

Abagworo: History of Awarra origin
Awarra as a community was a child from a royal family which came from Ogbaland(Omoku) in Rivers state, but now in Imo state precisely in Ohaji/Egbema local government of Imo state Nigeria.
Prince Oborji ran away from home due to an offence he committed. He wandered through thick forest and crossed “odan” river and settled at a place named after him—Oborji village today. He was later discovered by Ede (the father of Ikwerede people), Okedinma (the father of Umuokedinma people), Okuzu (the father of Umuokuzu people) and Oboke (the father of Obile people). Prince Oborji was asked where he came from, and he answered that “he wandered through the forest to this place”, which means in Ogba language as “awarramohiapiandena”, and this is how Awarra got her name. This event took place in the 15 th century. The people who discovered Prince Oborji allowed him rule over them, because was a prince from a royal family. He gave birth to Onei (Umuonei) and Obor. Nice write-up about the origin of Awarra. But let me ask is there any semblance in culture: language, tradition, etc between Awarra and Ogba? I also read a similar piece between Obitti and Ohoba. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Mistakes Dat I've Made In Job Interviews That You Should Avoid At All Costs by datarex: 9:47am On Oct 05, 2014 |
Mine was a couple of months after service and that was my second interview. I was so jittery because i was desperate for the job.
The interview panel was made up of a number of my peers and there was a pretty lady in the group. Everything was going well until i was asked how much i would want as my take home pay. i gave the usual "pay me the standard rate" reply. I didn't want to commit to a particular figure because i didn't want to short change myself by mentioning a low figure as there seem more to the company than meet the eye.
The lady now asked if i would accept 15k as salary and i pointed out to her that a 15k salary was a joke in Abj in 2011 and wouldn't even meet my basic needs. she then told me that there are ladies who take home pay was 15k in Abj.
*At this point i should have politely stuck to my gun & kept my mouth shut but the next few minutes was like an out of body experience for me. my brain shut down and my mouth took over, i watched myself from afar blow my chances of getting a job with that firm with the things i said.
I Agreed with her that some ladies taking home 15k a month but pointed out to her that ladies don't always spend their money & have other ways of getting money. The group became animated and wanted to know how. That's when i finished the job with a list that includes money from admirers, dates and all. I cringed with each word but couldn't stop myself. The look on their faces especially that of the lady's when i was done told me all i needed to know. I knew i wasn't going to be called back ever. There are just somethings you don't say. I guess that daily 5 mins of madness chose that moment to manifest in the worst possible way.
Till date, i still can't explain what happened or what took over me because I'm not usually a chauvinistic Prick. it was all so surreal
Quite hilarious. |

Hon. Luke Chukwu, always fanning embers of disunity in Ohaji/Egbema. Fulani herdsmen have destroyed the only means of livelihood (farmland, with cassava, yam, maize crops, etc)There has been reported cases of rape, assault, killing and stealing perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen. And this dude in the state house of assembly cannot use his good office to put an end to that. The Imo Rubber Plantation in Obitti is another investment gone awry. No attempt has been made to modernize its operations and expand its cope so as to create jobs for the teeming youths. Leadership is synonymous with resposniblity, not a means to acquire and flaunt ill-gotten wealth to the detriment of the people they seek to represent their interest. |

kalunomics: There's no one exclusive Igbo language... Just like you said, my mum can communicate well with people from Izi, Ezza, Abakiliki et al of Ebonyi state but I can only understand my own Edda language(which is spoken by people of Afikpo north and south LGAs, Ivo LGA of Ebonyi state and Item, Ohafia people of Abia state) because I was born and raised in Owerri.
But in Imo state, people marvel at my oral prowess in all the Igbo languages in Imo state like Awara, oguta, and extending to Ogba, Egbema and Ndoni Igbo of River state. The world is a small place, made even smaller by Nairaland! |

Thank you; I lived in Maiduguri for years until recently. I speak a little kanuri and understand the language. You see, I know what I am saying. People (not all though but a majority) there shield BH and believe GEJ deserves what he gets from them. Until you walk the streets of Maiduguri and mingle with the people there, please don't compare the level of acceptance of BH in maiduguri to that of criminals elsewhere. You also need to refer to revelations by COAS on moles in the military. They are all related.
I totally agree with you. I have a very close friend, who is from Maiduguri, he has this acute support for the BH boys saying that the mayhem is exactly what the government deserves. I'm also inclined to think that most Northerners are "enjoying" the crisis as it's given the federal government sensitive issues to grapple with as well as to discomfit and unsettle central government's resolve. |
