2. Remarkable reliability bcoz its Toyota built despite being a GM product.
3. Magnificently roomy cargo space (hatch back)
4. Cooler design prefered over its competition (Toyota Matrix).
5. Handles fine (user reviews confirms www.edmunds.com).

That's a wrong claim to make about Peugeot 407. You are basing your claims on "I heard, I read, they said, it appears, etc".

Peugeot 407 has his positives and negatives, likewise Peugeot 406 does. To condemn the 407 as a woeful failure showed you have no first hand experience yet you know so much about the car.

Peugeot 406 outshines Peugeot 407 in some areas, while 407 outshines 406 in some areas too. It depends on what you want from a car and how comfortable you are with the negatives the car comes with.

Matters of opinions are always tainted with prejudice, agreed, but I maintain what I said.

If u read the context of what I wrote, "407 was a woeful failure to replace 406 as a continuation the way the manufacturer had wanted" I didn't say "407 standalone was a woeful failure" (feel free to go back and read it again in ur spare time, not as hurriedly as u earlier did).

Coming back to what brought us here, we are not here to argue which of the brands is best or worst. We are rather here to suggest to the OP which of the brands is best tailored for him (a starter who wud need a more reliable vehicle than a high maintenance white elephant).

This we do by each commenter sharing his/her opinion, perception, knowledge, experience about each of the vehicle from any angle: User, Ex-User, Mechanic, Enthusiast, Manufacturer, etc.
And if u pay attention, u wud see that I made an excellent submission here.
So, u too can also contribute by dropping whatever pros and cons u know about any of the brands u choose and then afterwards, fwalk off!

Among the two Peugeot brands, I wud advice u to go with 406.
Manufacturer standpoint, 406 was a success throughout its production period and it made so much sales, reason attributed to its relative reliability, performance and less errors.
If u recall back in d days, 406 was a Nigerian government vehicle and there was no convoy u won't find it in. It really had its glory days and I got to develop my admiration there.

407 on the other hand was introduced to replace the 406 brand. But it was a woeful failure. Too many glitches, consumer complaints, and the personality was lost. Reasons why it didn't gain acceptance and besides, the competition was tough.

Users of 406 had always praised it for its outstanding AC, remarkable fuel economy, top notch security, engine reliability (esp. the EW10 engine. Its a monster on long journeys), car is surprisingly spacious despite its smallish look.
I also hear that the manual transmission is better to go for bcoz its the least problematic.

I had to come to this coz I trade only a single trade at a time dat can be left to run for days or even weeks so dat I can hav enough buffer/backup.

It hasn't been good to me when I used to apply stoploses despite my large patience.

I don't knw if it's just me but, I make more profit when I trade without StopLoss.

Despite d wide extra margins I give, my losses happen to be that my Stops are being triggered, and then the trend later reversing to conform wit d initial trade plan.

Therefore, I hav now decided to run UNCLAD for d while.

Pls somebody shud help me delete CHF from the UNIVERSE!
