mostob: It is not as easy as that. You forgot we had to let go of many players, negotiate contracts and regulate the players' wages. All these take time.
Also those who should be the backups are always dealing with injuries. Tomi, Timber, Partey, Vieira and Jesus have been in and out of hospital many times this season.
Finally, there is FFP issues too. And Arteta would not buy a player rather than buying the one he doesn't need or doesn't fit into his plans.. well there's that. Just didn't look desperate to solve it. Now they're about to change the rules and tighten the noose |

mostob: Leave talk bro, our wingers no dey cross. This is not an issue I just noticed. It has been going on for a while. And when they cross, the cross sef go dey somehow. Pattern of play affects that. If person dey you'll see them try to just find space to connect a head. Saka crosses well in training but na Ck duty hin dey🤣 We'll get there. Na cross and nod end 2/3 of our european campaign. |

mostob: Rotation!!!
If we look at it from one angle, Arteta doesn't like rotating or substituting tired players (Saka against Villa and Bayern)
From another angle, the subs are always not available and sometimes doesn't turn up. I dey hear Tomiyasu don get small knock. SMH He had 4 seasons to sort out squad depth. That January lockup vex me gaaan. We use limited resources to do unbeaten in 2024. How much more sustained if we had depth. Mtchewww. He had the window to get those he trust. Kon they make those available be like u19. Who else saw the clip of ESR eating a burger or something behind MA during wolves game? Bench cam. |

mostob: Presence is not the problem. How many times do our wingers attempt to cross?
Our problem is we lack outlet (Martinelli has failed in this). A one-man squad capable of changing things on his own. Players in the mode of Mbappe, Vini, Sanchez... Isak offers these and clinically, he is decent too.
Another player we need is another dynamic midfielder (a KDB). Florian Wirtz is still my choice but his frame dey somehow and also Leverkusen won't let him go. Wingers can't cross if the presence is not there. In 2012, i recall Drogba telling Ivanovic and co to cross once they see him running into the box. They did till it became the norm even if there was someone to pass to nearby. Kai playing false 9 is never present so before 1 cross come from GM or BS, they'll have done 100ground cross to the back of the defense line anticipating an Odegaard shooting. GM and BS may rake up effortless Assists if presence that's dangerous in air is there. Compared to how they do currently. They both know how to cross which is funny that MA has not set up this to try. Infact it is annoying that they have to wait for MA to give the go ahead. |

mostob: Currently, Ajakaiye has the least chance of making the SF squad among them. She has a lot of competition. I mean Rinsola and Monday Gift are even struggling for minutes currently. We need someone to fill that empty RW that Ordega left. Whoever is filling that spot since Franny just dey invisible to me. Dunno why it's so hard to find RWs. |

In the 1st leg, only Rice was alive till last minute. This one that there are complaints of fatigue among players now. Hope it won't impact tonight's game.
FA should find some new rule to make these fixtures less burdensome to continental glory. English folks sometimes dey tire me. E.g, see the nonsense Neville was saying about the Forest tweet when Saha spelt it out for him well enough. Smh.
Well, we better make these guys feel the brunt of title contenders tonight. |

Ucheibe must play midfield o. |

iamoyindamola: Bros seems you don't understand the new format Let me explain, all the teams will play 8 different teams 4 home 4 away It's after this the top 8 performers will automatically enter round of 16 The 9 to 24 teams will play 2 legged play offs to join the top8 After that the round of 16 is the normal till final
You can't know the top 8 now till after December unless you are talking about the top seeded which are the winners of league, Europa and UCL It's the same thing I'm saying now. I doubt we are part of the 8. |

They are trying to cope with Jude being their tormentor this season. They have a lot to process this month. toluxe0075: Exactly. It’s like keeping a Messi or Cristiano on the bench when the team needs a goal while NIco Jackson stays on the pitch to keep miss sitter upon sitter.
As you’ve rightly stated, unless what is at stake is personal and bigger than the expected glory, it doesn’t make sense at all. I play all that rubbish doesn't repeat itself sha. I hate remembering those moments. Taaaahh. Local coaches?? Mtchew. I just want a player or two to do an expose and scatter the tower of cards. We need that factory reset. |

toluxe0075: I still can’t forgive him for what he did to that 2015 U-20 team against Germany. We had the players to beat Germany, but Manu decided to sabotage the team with his stupid selection and substitutions. The recurrence of such incident is totally linked to local coaches and although still not loud, but bribery might just be at the helm of such situations. Self sabotage makes no sense unless what's at stake is personal and bigger than glory. He's not even the 1st too. Local coaches?? |

mostob: Anytime I remember there is Euro coming up in the Summer, I cringe. Hopefully Palmer and Foden will reduce his workload. Rice is durable so I'm not worried. Saliba will probably not play much. Saliba go rest well unless emergency. In France, many of their legends are divided about his game. He'll win them over soon. But many detest those silly mistakes. Southgate will just either start Palmer or make his his super sub. It would be a joke to not carry that boy along right now. |

Roland17: Expanding his game is more of a coaching responsibility. Moving him across the front 3 will help him naturally develop a sense of awareness, instincts and decision making with his creativity in dangerous areas of the final 3rd.
Next season, I’d like to see Arteta try Saka in the 10 (CAM/ AM) position, especially in cup completions like EFL. It would require us switching up formation sometimes but I believe it will help expand his game. Are we ready for the new UCL format too? I doubt we are part of the "top 8 performers". We'll probably be among the 24playoff teams. Then the new 4 teams. |

Roland17: Apart from the burnout, he has been playing with a muscle injury since Feb I think but they have been trying to manage it.
Kid has nothing left in the tank and that is the truth. He has stopped trying hard because physically he can’t. His legs can’t even cross balls anymore. If we win this title, come next season, I'm expecting his replacement to start the very 1st game of the season. That guy needs overflowing tank. Plus trainer can inject new styles and ideas into his game. Then he will fire above 20goals especially with a 9 closer to him than Odegaard |

Jodera: But then, What's wrong with Saka. It's as if he's carrying an injury or something. He don't even attempt to make a dribble this match and even when Odegaard and Jesus are pressing, he seemed laid back and doesn't join in the press(esp in the first half). It's as if they know he's going through something cos even Odegaard doesn't seem urge him to join in the press sef unlike normal Odegaard that will direct before he initiates the press.
Fingers crossed for Chelsea match tho.
Missed the discussion and debates that happened earlier this week. Still a very very very busy week for me.
Hopefully Arsenal doesn't disappoint in their next two matches
COYG!!! Before that Porto game, commentator gave hint about the injury. Also remember the game he was subbed off and he looked like he wan cry? Many speculations on which kind of injury. But ankle/calf related it seems. MA of all people should know getting a replacement is a top priority henceforth. See his numbers with this problem. How much more if he was fullllllyyy fit. Who be Cold Palmer sef? Na Frozen Saka we for get. The North Wall GOT kind. |

Macleans is the only well built no.9 that’s of same Physique as Desire Oparanozie but still not at Opagoal level as it stands.. She probably need to move to the Bigger Leagues as some persons here still don’t rate the Russian Women’s League high.. i doubt Ihezuo will bring what we need in terms of Finishing sha. Good presser and bully but not impressed as regards goals threat. Besides, Ify go dey camp but no mins. Will she be shadowed off like Yewande soon? |
Sports › Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by daveP(m): 10:11pm On Apr 20, 2024 |
Deltamani: Any of them will do but Randy will definitely go with Plumptre there as her ball playing and going forward is better than Okeke’ down!
The Battle against Spain will definitely be in the Midfield, if you can Mark out Aitana Bonmati you have reduced them to 50%, then Mariona it’s Finnish..
I will go with Ayinde and Ucheibe as my double pivot in Midfield with Ayinde doing the Marking as she did to Lauren James! Ucheibe to cover the rest ground left as she’s more like a two player. Once Ayinde tire out bring in Deborah Abiodun to close the game..
Attacking Midfield I will go with Toni Payne ahead of Echegini as we need someone who can hold the ball well, drive and dribble her way through to feed the forwards, Echegini will be better as Sub in that game as she tends to lose the ball occasionally( Probably because our forwards are a bit far away and out of position)..
Ajibade will have to bring her A game against Ona Battle! Randy needs to work on the midfield-attack connect. We no get midfield before. Now everywhere don full. Time to mould something. I hope nff grants his request so any potential fumble will not be on them as usual. Funny enough, na this kind Game JOE dey thrive o. But Payne it is. Rash should be a pain if we refuse to let them score. That's why i still believe our main problem in that Group na Japan. Those guys move like a pack of Cards tied together with Miyazawa doing like breeze |
