The goal of every business is to make money from their services or products (except you are running an NGO which technically can’t be counted as a business) and this is a thing of joy for the business owner. Normally, when you render a service or sell a product to a customer, you can easily get your rewards in cash and you are happy but this is changing. Technology has made business transactions so so easy these days and the same technology has helped with receiving rewards for services rendered but many new businesses still have not yet taken advantage of these technological advancements and they allow payment to affect their expansion which should not be. Again, ignorance You can read more about business accounting here if you have not already With technological advancement and innovations, the barriers between clients and service providers are becoming thinner by the day and many more people need to know and take advantage of it. I see people on twitter advertising their businesses and clients actually making requests but many of them publicly display account numbers for clients to transfer payments to which is largely not advisable especially in this current country where fraud is something to be wary of. This is exactly where payment gateways come in and reason more people should adopt it. Your business should have more publicity than what it currently has . Click here to learn more There have been multinationals who have started with online payment solutions in Nigeria as of today but these are so not affordable by SMEs and other smaller businesses just starting up. But the solution is also not hard to get as we have had experts from within and outside the country and brought online payment solution right to the doorsteps of everyone - including a startup not yet registered. I know the fear of most Nigerians and indeed Africans is that can we really trust these local goods? My answer is simple: Yes. In fact, why not? I have tested and can attest that these local solutions are as reliable if not better than the international counterparts and they offer the same thing and they are available and affordable to EVERY BUSINESS OWNER no matter the size or age of your business. There are already more than 5 established and standard online payment gateway solutions in Nigeria and here is a quick list; Paystack VoguePay CuePay Remita PayU eTransact Of course, I know there are others like GTPAY, ZENITH PAY, INTERSWITCH, and others but I am not interested in them. I am interested in solutions that work for EVERYONE including SMALL BUSINESSES and is AFFORDABLE. All these e-payments solutions use the best encryption so you have nothing to worry about regarding your credit card or bank info being leaked and so your safety and that of your clients are guaranteed. Africans need to start exploring our own and be proud of what we have and make the best of it. Head over to any of these and register so nothing delays or affects your money or disturb you from those potential clients. Many people (myself included) did not fully grasp the concept of CV and Resume and we often mix them up whereas what is required if often different. Higlighted below are simple explanations and breakdown of the differences. A CV is a summary of your skills, experience, and education however, it contains more detail and is often longer than 2 pages. CVs are the required documents to apply for graduate school, scientific research, and academic positions. Resume summaries your work experience, education, skills and achievements for a prospective employer. It is usually required as part of a job application. Resumé Consider one to two pages if you have under 10 years of professional experience. Senior executives or academics may like to have resumes that are three pages or more. Clear difference between CV and resume Use CV for school applications or anything in academia mostly, Resume for job applications CV vs Resume What is a CV Used For? Admission to graduate school Research and consulting positions in a variety of settings Fellowships or grants International jobs Teaching, research, and upper-level administrative positions in higher education Academic departmental and tenure reviews. Professional association leadership positions Speaking engagements Publishing and editorial review boards School administration positions Independent consulting. Things to Remember When Writing a CV Lead with your strengths - the layout needs to be clear and logical, placing the most important items at the beginning. Keep your audience in mind. Include information which is relevant to the position to which you are applying. List all information in reverse chronological order, from most recent to least recent. Make it organized and attractive. Keep the structure of your phrases and/or sentences consistent throughout your document (parallelism) Label categories clearly. Update your CV frequently. For your resume which you use mainly for job applications, bear this in mind: Personal Details: The essential personal details to include are your full name and contact information – this is usually both your phone number and email address. Career Objective or Summary: If you’re a recent school or university leaver without much professional experience, begin your resume or CV with a career objective in a short sentence or two. If you’ve gained experience in the workforce, a career objective is less necessary, however you may want to replace it with a career summary, describing your professional profile in a short sentence or two. Work Experience: List your most recent jobs including the title of your position, name and location of organization, and dates of employment. In point form under each job, give a brief overview of your role, responsibilities and achievements, weaving in the skills required. Under work experience (since work can be paid or voluntary), feel free to tailor your volunteer & internships experiences in a way that fits the job position you are applying for (use your verbs and write professionally). Internships and volunteer work can also be mentioned here. Education: List your most recent educational experiences first. Include your qualifications, institutions you studied at, graduation dates and other specializations. Mention any special awards and other educational achievements. Additional Information: You may like to create headings such as ‘Skills’, ‘Strengths’ or ‘Interests’ & list information that would be relevant to the job you’re applying for. Information that illustrates your proficiency in languages, computer programs should be included here. References: A referee can be a former manager or tutor at university – just make sure you ask their permission before listing their name, position, company and contact details. It is not necessary to write this on your resume except they request for it. What to exclude in your resume: Personal details such your religion, age or marital status. Every job you’ve ever had, especially when it isn’t relevant to the job you’re currently applying for. Many time we have heard of statement of purpose, study plan, personal statement and the likes but many are not so sure what these mean or how to go about them. There are thousands of students applying from all over the world with similar application to yours. Therefore, your writing is arguably more important than anything else you submit, as it gives you the chance to express what makes you stand out from the rest of the applicants. The aim of your Statement of Purpose (SOP), Personal Statement (PS) & Study Plan is to allow the admissions committee to find out more about the students on a personal level. Looking at your test scores, credentials, class rank, and similar data is not enough. Different schools ask for different formats. Writing off-topic, no matter how creative and special your story is, could lead to an automatic filtering by the admissions committee because you have failed to read the requirements and deliver what they are asking for hence you need to read critically requirements for each school and don't generalize. Statement of Purpose (SOP): Just by looking at the title, we should already know that this paper is focused on your purpose, or the reasons why you want to study a particular course/major at this university. Usually, schools will assign what they call “prompts”, which are focused questions which you need to answer in detail. Failure to answer the question automatically marks you as an unfit candidate. It is very important to direct your response to the particular questions at hand. Effective SOP writing discusses your career plan and future goals. This must be well thought out, as it takes focus and determination to pursue a degree, especially if you are applying for a master’s or doctorate degree. The admissions committee wants to see how well organized and prepared you are. Your readers need to know that you are serious about the degree program. They do not want slackers; they want well-defined research interests. A well-written SOP formally expresses the candidate’s background (education, interests, credentials, etc.), but the candidate does not brag. The candidate explains in detail his or her desire to gain acceptance into the program of choice. Personal Statement: The keyword “personal” already tells you how different this is from an SOP. Here is your chance to show off what you have accomplished in your academics, any major skills you have, and any extracurricular activities in which you have participated. On your Personal Statement, you have the chance to represent yourself to stand out from the other students; you have the freedom to talk about anything and everything in your life, as long as it is relevant to the program to which you are applying. You need to carefully choose relevant details or know how to transition fluidly from idea to idea when writing your personal statement. Jumping from one story to another in one paragraph will put off the admissions committee, so organize your thoughts in advance. Study Plan: A study plan is just another way some schools around the world, particularly in Asia, refer to a personal statement/SOP. They are looking to learn about your personality, past achievements, present roles, and future goals. There may be a shorter word limit for a study plan or no limit at all, depending on each individual school’s guidelines. When you are reading through the requirements, pay special attention to what the school is asking for so that you can focus the essay accordingly. If you do research on how to write a study plan, notice that the term “study plan” can also refer to a planned schedule to help students prepare for tests and exams. E.g, some students make study plans/ schedules to determine how productive they can be during a class, exam, etc. "To simplify the differences: An SOP describes why you want to attend a university while offering some details about your fit for the program, whereas a PerSonal statment or Study Plan is all about representing yourself, your skills and accomplishments, and why this university should choose you." Writing the Statement of Purpose: The statement of purpose should convince readers– the faculty on the selection committee – that you have solid achievements behind you that show promise for your success in graduate study. Source How to write a personal statement for Grad School Application: A good personal statement can mean the difference between getting an offer and being rejected. Your personal statement should show us that you are the right person for the course. Source Proposed Plan of Study Guidelines: Some school applications including awards/scholarships will ask you to submit a proposed plan of study. You should take this as an opportunity to research your options. https://www.davoltblog.com.ng/statement-purpose-writing/ |

YouTube has been an interesting addition to our lives for some years now allowing us access to very rich media contents for entertainment, educational and various other purposes. For those in countries like the US, Uk and some other well developed countries where internet connection is not metered, consuming and referencing the contents are no issues. For places like Nigeria and other countries where internet access is measured and expensive, having a means to save the videos is very crucial. The YouTube app for Android and iOS support downloading of videos for watching later but it sure comes with so many limitations which necessitates the development by some geniuses to create a new solution which allows you to grab those cool videos and tutorials and watch them even on another device completely. Now I will show you how you can download those favourite YouTube Videos, transfer them to any media of choice, watch them later when more convenient and they never expire. This method is for android users and it is so very easy. The app name is called Tubemate and obviously it is not available on playstore for download so you will have to use link provided at the end of the article to download it. Once downloaded and installed on your android device (Phone or tablet), launch it and let’s get started; 1. Open the main YouTube App and locate the video you will like to download 2. While the video is playing, click on share and from the share options presented to you, select Tubemate (as shown in the image below) 3. The Tubemate app is launched after selecting it and the various sizes and dimensions available for the selected videos are shown. Select the desired dimension and click the download button on the bottom right of the screen. You can also download twitter videos with ease 4. The download is started and the file is then saved locally on your device storage which can be viewed using any desired player or even copied to an external device. PS: If you are having any issues downloading the app using the link, you can download the latest version directly here. Click here Please share and subscribe. Sincerely I never thought I'd be writing this particular post but when I put forth the poll on Twitter, the responses and messages received showed that many people have very wrong notions and misunderstanding about Online payment in Nigeria and they easily flawed it with the individual banking policies and inconsistencies of the financial institutions in the country. Here are just a few things that are necessary for clarification and this post will be populated as new things necessary are noticed; ePayment systems in Nigeria is insecure while it is normal to exhibit this fear considering the ratings given to our beloved country based on activities of the internet fraudsters (popularly called yahoo boys), e-payment security is usually standard and the same as anywhere else in the world. The fact that it is being offered by a Nigerian company does not reduce the secured state (how to avoid being defrauded online). However, as with all technology products and money, one needs to be very careful with online transactions and be sure of the websites you visit before entering sensitive information. 2. My account will be drained if I put my card details online This is another thing Nigerians fear when dealing with online transactions especially when it is a Nigerian company like PayStack, Remita, VoguePay etc at the processing end but what many don't know is that Nigerian e-Payment systems provide even more security than many other international payment systems. Here is an explanation before someone gets angry. When you try to make online payment in Nigeria, say you want to buy a product on Jumia or trying to Book a Flight or even paying for Bulk SMS online (which are services many of us do often) using your ATM cards, the transactions don't just go through after entering your card details even when you have entered the correct PIN and Security number, instead an SMS (known as One Time Password OTP) is sent to the registered phone or you are asked to enter the code from your TOKEN device. This extra step is called 2nd Factor Authentication and it ensures all transactions are initiated by the right person with all the right information. So only you or someone with all your information including your physical phone can perform transactions like this. Read More: Get acquainted with ePayment now for business This is one feature that is not enabled by default when you tried to make transactions on say ALIEXPRESS or eBay as the transactions are processed immediately your card details are entered. Some don't even ask for PIN as long as Security is entered but Nigerians still feel more comfortable entering their card details on those sites than on Nigerian sites when in the real sense, Nigerian options provide you with even more security. 3. Once I entered my card details, they can keep removing money from my account. First of all, online safety is a responsibility of us all (not just the system or the financial institutions) and we need to ensure we remain safe but that does not mean we won't use these technologies again, we only need to have a better understanding and keep ourselves safe always. When you enter your details for payment on merchant websites, your card details are hardly saved and when they are saved, you are always notified and usually account creation would be required so you can always have access to remove the saved card any time you desire. The issue is that most people by default feel their information is collected and saved immediately and many don't read these instructions. Read More: Give your business a boost by promoting it online For all card transactions/payments you perform online, always read instructions given and understand the content of each checkbox before checking. These little things will make us understand that safety can be guaranteed and it lies more in our hands as end users. e-Payment technology has come to stay, just like all other technological innovations and the earlier we understand these, the better it is for us. There will come a time when the only means of transacting will be through these online payment gateways, which is why understanding of the systems is necessary and doubts be cleared. Happy New and Safe Month to you. You can read on the blog here https://www.davoltblog.com.ng/e-payment-in-nigeria-facts-and-misconceptions/

For many who are into legitimate online freelance services, Payoneer is a common service and it has helped many receive their hard earned money with ease despite the fact that PayPal has placed and still places restrictions on Nigerians using their service. Another goody has just recently been added to the payoneer sweetness which makes it one of the best if not the best preferred service to conveniently catch your hard money with ease. For those who opened payoneer account long before now, the only way to collect your money is to use the payoneer debit card sent to you and the bank does the conversion. This however comes with some risks like the AT swallowing your card for one reason or the other, service charges for each withdrawal and not to mention to other hidden charges. But now, you can have all the funds in your payoneer account transferred to your bank account straight in Nigeria without any issues. This feature being a new addition seems unavailable to old accounts yet but any new account opened henceforth is entitled to it. One main thing needed by you is your Nigerian Bank swift Code. For those using GTB, their switft code is GTBINGLA . All you just need do is insert fill the form appropriately as it should be and fill in your bank account into as well then enter the swift code as shown (if using GTB) – I will be updating with more swift codes very soon but in the meantime, go get yourself a new payoneer account. Click here to open your own payoneer account now and earn $25 free

Hi, I own a Gionee P2 and the phone is kinda awesome especially for it's price. I honestly can't say the exact thing that happened to it but I have successfully rooted the phone. I was using it as hotspot when the internet stopped going and the phone went off automatically after a while. On turning on the phone again, it showed me NO SIM CARD DETECTED in both SIM 1 and SIM 2. I have been searching all over the internet for a solution to the point that I have even followed the instruction on flashing it using Walton Primo f2 firmware which was successful and changed the phone software to walton but the issue of NO SIM CARD persists. Also i noticed even before the flashing that the USB debuggin is always on and refused to be turned off. even after flashing the phone, the same thing still happens whenever I connect it to my PC. Please, I need help from anyone that has very good understanding of android or how to make ROMs. NB: I have used MTK-droid tool to make a backup from a friend who uses the exact same Gionee P2 but how to compile that into the installable ROM is what I don't know. Please help if you have any idea. Thanks in advance |
