cooldipo:Nigeria as a nation lost her superiority since 1914.Ever since then, for a horse to pass through the eye of a needle is far away easier than to find a true person who can revive the glories of Nigeria. Left for me,let's focus and point out a geniue and trustworthy person who knows what true leadership is all about and make him a leader and stop waisting our precious time on nonsense political platform. |
- Vice-presidential candidate of the PDP, Peter Obi says the debt issue is an indication that the nation is collapsing - He said the situation of Nigeria as of today requires an aggressive approach to ameliorate the situation The vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, has decried the current high debt profile which the present federal government administration of President Muhammadu Buhari plunged the country into. He said it was quite unfortunate that Nigeria was owing $30 billion some time ago and the creditors cancelled the debts for the nation to move forward, lamenting that now the Buhari's government has plunged the country into a deeper debt profile to the tune of $80 billion. The former governor of Anambra state, further said the issue is an indication that the nation is collapsing. He made the comments inside Onitsha prisons during the 65th birthday ceremony of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Catholic Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke. He also said over 13.5 million Nigerian children are not in school, just as unemployment rate is nothing to write home about. According to him, his choice as the vice presidential candidate of the main opposition party, does not in any way call for celebration, “because the situation of Nigeria as of today requires an aggressive approach to ameliorate the situation." He stated that if elected as vice president, he would personally work for the renovation of all the schools in the country. Similarly, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Timi Frank, has described the astronomical rise in Nigeria’s foreign debt portfolio under the present administration as worrisome. Frank who expressed his concerns in a statement sent to Legit.ng , also pleaded with the Chinese and other foreign governments to be wary of granting loans to the Buhari's government. He stated that despite over 100% rise in the nation’s external debt, there is little or nothing on ground - in terms of concrete economic, social and infrastructural development to justify the huge debt already incurred by the present administration. |
A Nigerian lady has taken to her Facebook profile to call out the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for getting married to Olori Shilekunola Oluwaseyi Naomi. Ooni of Ife officially unveiled his new bride on Thursday, October 18. Just five days after the pronouncement of Naomi as queen, a self-acclaimed jilted lover, Elizabeth Odunlami, took to Facebook and revealed what transpired between her and the Oba Ogunwusi. According to Odunlami, the Ooni not only promised her marriage but allegedly used her name for business transactions that ran into millions of dollars in the United States (US). Odunlami added that she would not have shared this on social media but the humiliation was too much to bear. Odunlami hails from Ijebu, attends the Celestial Church of Christ, lives in New York and worked at the African Charities of America. Her Facebook post reads: “ Kabiyesi Enitan Ogunwusi, I'm thanking you for the disappointment after using my real biological name to execute your contract from Mr John in California. As a matter of fact, you promised me to be your next queen before Naomi, whenever i asked you if you have someone, you were always in denial. On certainty, you told me that all your so-called spiritualists positively accepted me as your new queen, that shouldn't listen to rumors, always communicating with me every day promising me ticket to Nigeria soon. Chidi Odinkalu, a rights advocate who once led Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission delivered the keynote address - According to him, the power of new media has made it easy to access the innermost corners of Nigeria’ Citizens and experts have assessed the important role new media plays in entrenching democratic practices in Nigeria. They were speaking on Tuesday, October 24, at the New Media, Citizens and Governance (NMCG) conference in Abuja. In his keynote address, Chidi Odinkalu, the former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), praised the role new media has played in ensuring dissemination of information and demystifying the aura around power. Cross section of participants at the conference. Photo credit: Paradigm Initiative “The power of new media has made it easy to access the innermost corners of Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja. Places like the Presidential Villa where people are being barred from taking pictures already exist in google maps,” Odinkalu said. He however warned that , “what people must be careful about is wielding influence on social media without responsibility.” His words: “Social media is not a place where people take permission to do things. Vitriolic messages that are totally unjust and inexcusable are being pushed on social media. “There is an assumption that social media is an instrument of transparency. It could be. But it could also be an instrument for obfuscation. Those who are being hounded should be defended because if you do not defend those with whom you disagree, then some day it could be your turn. “The 2019 elections are coming, under which context this event is holding, and things that happen before elections usually predict what would happen after elections. “We should watch out for violence against women and children in the upcoming elections. The analogue space is not happy that there is a new digital space that is picking on those who are carrying out violence against women and children. It is our responsibility to ensure that the new media space does not allow violence against women to fester.” He also talked about the controversial figures churned out by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after its presidential primary, stressing that the action of the ruling party, is not healthy for the polity. He said: “The APC has given itself 14 million primary voters. It is nonsensical because it demeans our president, our political system and we should not tolerate that. “Some people are afraid to say this because a bunch of paid people are going to attack us if we call them out. Responsibility has a place in democratic politics. Good manners have a place in democratic politics. “What has happened with social media is that many of us are running around naked with each other. Some people are okay running naked, but those who were properly brought up should not get involved. Dignity does matter even in the digital age. “We should make social media a safe place to properly put our narrative for a better cohesion. That for me, and that for us, should be the challenge.” Speaking during the session titled “Are Elections Won on the Timeline?,” Demola Olarewaju, a digital media expert and member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), considered digital tools as crucial to the success of Nigeria’s democracy, saying, “by leveraging the tools of the internet, we can confront rigging and limit its impact on our elections.” Sesugh Akume of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) said the Nigerian people can further use the power of social media to “counter the APC-PDP dichotomy that has dominated political discourse in Nigeria. If active Nigerians decide to expand the discussion beyond APC and PDP, they can easily do these with social media. Speakers at the conference also spoke about the limitation of social media and the new challenges its deployment has thrown up. Supported by Facebook, MacArthur Foundation, Luminate & Palladium, the NMCG is a biennial event that was last held in 2016. The 2-day conference is hosted by Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), Paradigm Initiative and BudgIT to discuss the theme, “Government, New Media, and Civic Spaces.” Tope Ogundipe, the director of programs at Paradigm Initiative, said the organisers are pleased with the turnout on the first day of the conference and hope “ the conversations will help provide clarity to the issues raised here while also energising citizens to take their role in the democratic process more seriously.” Meanwhile, political economist and management expert, Professor Patrick Utomi, on Monday, October 15, expressed concern that Nigerian politics if left unchecked would be in danger of being infiltrated by criminals. Professor Utomi made the comment in Abuja at the High Level Public-Private Sector Forum, with the theme: “Democracy that Delivers.” His words: “One of the most frustrating things about Nigeria today is that most of those in public offices don’t have the capacity for where they are. There is no talent profile to determine who should be where. Most of them don’t have the foggiest clue what it takes to provide the environment to make the country prosperous.” |

I hate Nigerian custom service.I hate any organisation that doesn't have a good orientation.N.C.S dispensation of duties is not only placing the masses at unrest but very absurd and discriminating the image of Nigeria as a nation.I heared the Comptroller General of N.C.S,Abdullahi Kiriwa saying that the dish was ceased to spare Nigerian from petronising such dish.Let Nigerian value what they have.what a useless thought.! If I may ask, what is the essence of International trade cooperation.? Who told Mr Abdullahi that those dish was made for Nigerian and not for Chinese peoples residing in Nigeria? This is often the outcome when you have an illeterate and lunatic person as a leader and a milky brain peoples as a cabinets. Nonsense. please before I forget, check my signature for your qaulity and trusted drugs, treatment and home services. |

Violence is a prominent case that nurses have to face beside abuse.Nursing personnel are reorganised as being at higher risk of abuse and violence at work place. In fact, nurses are more likely to be attacked at work than prisoners.82% of nurses don't feel safe from assault.Often the problem comes from the patient who are on drug or who have been drinking or who are under depression or who are affected by grief..the most bitter section is that Nurses have a minimal monthly take home.Three out of five nurses feel they are under paid and so many have considered leaving the profession while some engage on a second job to make ends meet.Death of patient can have a great depressing effect on nurses.Ability to tolerate is what defined the quality of a good nurse. Nevertheless,Nursing is an everlasting profession. So long as humanity exist, there will always be a need for caring, compassion and understanding. No matter the growth of technology, no machine can ever replace a nurse's touch and compassion. The world should be grateful to all the attention given and sacrifices made by millions of nurses around the world, without whom hospital stay would certainly be less pleasant if not impossible. |
I know some of us has been brain washed and considered male nurse irrelivant in Nigeria.we need to wake up from that nightmare. This handsome young man has break the disparities in nursing professionalism in Nigeria. His name is Omeje Malachy Chibueze and hails from Enugu state Nigeria.I could not get rid of his popular saying"Save a life your a hero, save hundred lives you are a nurse"Nurse Malachy as he was popularly called has every characters that define the qaulities of a good nurse. He is currently working as a staff nurse in Akulue Memorial Hospital in Nsukka,Enugu state. One nice thing concerning him is that he is not only hard working but very humble and proud of his profession. He said that some times, some patient would be calling him Doc,,,Doc,,,! and he well tell them "please I'm not a Doctor I'm a nurse call me nurse"His profession is his piriority with regardless of the fact on how people consider the position of a male nurse in our country Nigeria. He is very humble and smart..
