A missing 13-year-old girl was discovered murd£red with her hands cut off and her father has been arrested after speaking about her on TV.

Keimani Latigue’s body was found in an abandoned and burned home in Toledo, Ohio, on Monday, March 24.

Cops who discovered her six days after her family reported her missing said it was "one of the most horrific cases" they have seen.

Keimani’s hands were detached from her body and her head was almost completely severed, according to Columbus Police Lt Brian Steel.

Steel stated to WCMH, "This is an absolute animal that came into our town." Her dad, Darnell Jones, 33, was found by cops on Tuesday, March 25, and he allegedly pulled a gun. An officer opened fire several times. He was hospitalized, had surgery, and is now in good health. It was not clear if Jones fired back.

"You pull a gun at officers, as we’ve said many times, this is the outcome you could expect," Steel said.

Jones has been charged with murd£r in connection with his daughter's death.

Keimani’s autopsy died of multiple "incised wounds of the neck," according to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Keimani was days away from turning 14 years old. Her mother, Tiara Kasten, said she spent most of her time going to school, playing basketball and staying home.

"I seen her on the 15th. "She came to my house with her dad," Kasten told WTVG. "Apparently my mother gave him permission and honestly it was just loving on my kid. We play video games," Kasten said.

She was a student at Spring Elementary School.

"The students and staff at Spring Elementary are saddened by the loss of their friend and classmate, Keimani Latigue," a Toledo Public Schools spokesperson told the TV station.

A 37-year-old South African man who pleaded guilty to r3ping and beating his eight-day-old daughter to d3ath, will be sentenced next week Thursday.

Hugo Ferreira, Welverdiend near Carletonville appeared in the Pretoria High Court before Judge Portia Dipuo Phahlane on March 25, 2025.

According to court documents, his little daughter was left alone in his care on June 8, 2023.

The child’s mother, Maureen Brand, had apparently left the girl with him to go and sell some clothes to buy nappies for the child. After she had been physically and sexually assaulted, the baby had suffered serious injuries when she returned later that day. The baby was taken to Carletonville Hospital where she d! ed the next day due to head injuries

In his explanation for his plea, Ferreira said that the fact that the mother abandoned the child in his care made him "unhappy." He had told her to be back in five minutes because she had to breastfeed the baby.

The little girl, however, continued to cry because she was hungry and her nappy had to be changed.

Ferreira said he became angry and frustrated when the baby continued to cry when he tried to change her nappy.

“I grabbed the baby hard at the back of her neck and hit her buttocks repeatedly. In the process I pushed her head against the surface on which I was working. I accept that it was a cruel and gruesome attack, especially on such a young baby. The action was clearly illegal and I did it with intent,” Ferreira said in his plea.

He added that he then ‘decided to give her something to cry about’, after which he assaulted her s3xually as well.

“When her mother returned, I realised she would see that something was wrong. I kept the baby away from her until later the day. I did this because I knew the baby had suffered serious injuries. Ferreira said in his plea explanation that he knew that what he was doing was wrong and that it could lead to the baby’s d8ath. He continued despite this.

He also acknowledged that even though he was under the influence of drugs, in particular methamphetamine, this did not influence him to such an extent that he was not accountable for his actions.

Both the state and defence concluded their representations in court on Tuesday and Ferreira will be sentenced during his next court next Thursday.

At least 54 people were killed in a military airstrike on a local market in Sudan’s western region, aid groups reported Tuesday.

Inibehe Okon, a self-acclaimed neurosurgeon currently embroiled in allegations of academic fraud, is not a student of the University of Texas at Austin, DUBAWA can confirm.

On Tuesday, 25 March, the University of Texas at Austin disassociated itself from Mr Okon, who also claimed affiliation with some other institutions.

An image of Mr. Okon matching a system used to place medical students into residency programs at Johns Hopkins University in the United States went viral recently. The viral photo sparked curiosity and admiration from many social media users, as users on X shared screenshots of their chat, in which he claimed he was still a student as of 2019.

He also made similar claims on many social media posts.

Mr Okon, whose ResearchGate profile lists him as a doctor of medicine and neurosurgeon affiliated with the University of Texas, has been accused of impersonation. His profile claims he has over 65 published academic journals. However, the veracity of his credentials was questioned by growing revelations from social media users, including former medical students at the University of Uyo, where he also claimed to have studied. DUBAWA contacted the University of Texas to verify Mr Okon’s academic records. The institution replied that no individual by that name was enrolled or affiliated with them.

The university's assistant vice president for media relations, Mike Rosen, told DUBAWA, "The University of Texas at Austin has no current or former resident or student by the name you have inquired about." When DUBAWA reached out to Mr Okon via WhatsApp, he evaded the question of whether he attended the university or not. Instead, he responded that he had prepared a draft to announce his side of the story.

“I know if I did it or not at all. I will forgive them. I have prepared the draft to announce. I will come out to tell the whole truth and be sincere and very open to them,” he wrote.

President Donald Trump's administration is facing a new lawsuit that argues that the administration's threat to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding from Columbia University is illegal.

The American Federation of Teachers filed the lawsuit alongside the American Association of University Professors on Tuesday, arguing that the Trump administration is seeking to "consolidate power over higher education."
"This action challenges the Trump administration’s unlawful and unprecedented effort to overpower a university’s academic autonomy and control the thought, association, scholarship, and expression of its faculty and students," the lawsuit reads.

"The Trump administration is coercing Columbia University to do its bidding and regulate speech and expression on campus by holding hostage billions of dollars in congressionally authorized federal funding—funding that is responsible for positioning the American university system as a global leader in scientific, medical, and technological research and is crucial to ensuring it remains so," it continues.

The lawsuit comes after Columbia's administrators agreed to enact sweeping changes to its policies regarding student protests and conduct a review of its Middle Eastern studies department.
The Trump administration threatened to withhold some $400 million if changes were not made.

The Ivy League school agreed to ban masks for the purpose of concealing identity, empower 36 campus police officers with new powers to arrest students and appoint a senior vice provost with broad authority to oversee the department of Middle East, South Asian and African Studies, as well as the Center for Palestine Studies.

The Federal Government has raised fresh security concern ahead of the planned nationwide protest scheduled to commence on August 1, 2024.

In a statement on Wednesday, the government expressed concern that bandits and insurgents may hijack the much-anticipated demonstrations.

The Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, while briefing journalists and media executives at the Radio House in Abuja on Wednesday, noted that rather than protest, Nigerians should engage the government through another means to ensure the current administration delivers on its campaign promises.

Controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is set to regain freedom from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024, after spending months in incarceration for abusing the Naira notes.

“Bobrisky will be released on Monday, August 5,” the prison source, who preferred anonymity because he cannot speak officially, told the publication.

The Anambra State Government has captured one Uzochukwu Okoli, for offering his underaged girl.
