Buhari Why Another 14 Days Sakpa - Nigerians Cried Out

(Abuja) – Nigeria’s federal and state governments should ensure the rights to food, shelter, and other basic necessities for people losing jobs or income during the COVID-19 pandemic. The economic assistance that the government has announced in response to the virus has exposed inadequacies in Nigeria’s social protection systems and risks excluding the country’s poorest and most vulnerable people.
President Muhammadu Buhari announced on April 13, 2020 that a lockdown, in place since March 30 in Lagos state, neighboring Ogun state, and Abuja, the nation’s capital, would continue for another 14 days. As of April 12, Nigeria had 343 confirmed cases. Several other state governments, including Rivers, Kaduna, and Ekiti, have also initiated full or partial lockdowns.

Coronavirus OPEC’s agreement to cut global oil output by 9.7 million barrels

Coronavirus OPEC’s agreement to cut global oil output by 9.7 million barrels a day in May and June, finalised on Sunday, buys Nigeria a little time.
The cuts, equivalent to close to 10% of world output, follow failure to agree to reductions in March, which prompted an oil price collapse. Nigeria’s petroleum resources minister Timipre Marlin Sylva now says he expects oil price to quickly rebound by $15 per barrel.
But any optimism on the part of oil producers that there will be a lasting détente between Russians and Saudi Arabia—even if they’re able to convince other major suppliers like Mexico to also cut production—will “likely prove myopic”, says Harry Broadman, chair of the emerging markets practice at Berkeley Research Group LLC in Washington.
“The simple fact is there has been a huge structural downshift in oil demand globally because of the COVID crisis. In such a setting—one that hasn’t existed for a generation—there will be blood on the floor for all oil producers.”

El-rufai's Son Is A Rapist!!!

A former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, has scolded Bello el-Rufai, the son of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, for threatening to rape the mother of someone who disagreed with him on social media.
The former World Bank Vice-President also asked Bello to apologise for making acerbic comments laced with tribalism.
Ezekwesili, who also served in the same federal cabinet as Bello’s father during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said this on Twitter on Sunday.

She tweeted, “Did I just see horrific tweets from your handle threatening gang-rape? What was that? Why the ethnic vitriol toward Igbos? What’s that, Bello? Too tragic!

Israel’s former chief rabbi Eliahou Bakshi-Doron, who was known for promoting interfaith dialogue, died Sunday of the new coronavirus, the Shaare Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem said.
Bakshi-Doron, 79, was the Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel between 1993 and 2003.
Born in Jerusalem in 1941, he was chief rabbi of the northern port city of Haifa for 18 years before being elected chief rabbi of Israel.
He met Pope John Paul II in 2000 during the pontiff’s visit to Israel, sparking criticism from some ultra-Orthodox rabbis.

Shocking - US records 2k plus deaths a single day as Easter opens in lockdown

The United States became the first country to report more than 2,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day, marking a grim milestone as billions around the world celebrated the Easter holiday weekend under lockdown from home.
The global death toll from the virus surged past 103,000 on Friday, with the United States quickly becoming the epicentre of the pandemic that first emerged in China late last year.
Europe has so far shouldered the majority of all deaths and infections — though there were signs of hope the curve could be starting to flatten in some of the hardest-hit countries.

Numbers out of Madrid offered a glimmer of hope Saturday: 510 new deaths, a dip in fatalities for the third day in a row.
In France, nearly 1,000 new deaths were confirmed Friday but the country reported a drop in the number of intensive care patients for a second day running.

China hadn’t lied about the origin and extent of the virus

If you haven’t noticed, a narrative has been brewing the last couple of days that the United States should cooperate with China to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, that the two countries need to set aside their differences, stop the blame game, and come together for the good of the world.
In an alternate reality where China hadn’t lied at every turn about the origin and extent of the virus, silenced and reprimanded a whistleblower, concealed vital information from the rest of the world, strong-armed the World Health Organization into lying about how the disease spreads, and continued to act in bad faith, then sure, cooperation would be great.


But in the real world, cooperating with Beijing is impossible because the Chinese government refuses to be honest about what happened, how it happened, and what’s happening now. Given what we know about the Chinese Communist Party’s dissimulation, together with strong evidence now emerging that the disease didn’t emerge in a Wuhan wet market but escaped from a nearby lab, there’s no reason to trust the CCP. And without trust, there can be no real cooperation
But that won’t stop the narrative. Here’s China’s ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, writing in The New York Times on Sundaythat “China is doing whatever it can to support the United States and other countries in need,” and asserting that we need to reject “scapegoating other countries or races.”

The virus has killed more than 53,000 people and infected more than 1 million worldwide.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a pandemic over a new coronavirus which causes an illness known as COVID-19 that has spread to at least 180 countries and territories.

The disease has killed more than 60,000 people and infected more than 1 million, according to datacompiled by Johns Hopkins University.

On December 31 last year, China alerted WHO to several cases of unusual pneumonia in Wuhan, a port city of 11 million people in the central Hubei province. The virus was unknown.
Several of those infected worked at the city's Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which was shut down on January 1.
As health experts worked to identify the virus amid growing alarm, the number of infections exceeded 40.
On January 5, Chinese officials ruled out the possibility that this was a recurrence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus - an illness that originated in China and killed more than 770 people worldwide in 2002-2003.
On January 7, officials announced they had identified a new virus, according to the WHO. The novel virus was named 2019-nCoV and was identified as belonging to the coronavirus family, which includes SARS and the common cold.
Coronaviruses are common and spread through being in proximity to an infected person and inhaling droplets generated when they cough or sneeze, or touching a surface where these droplets land and then touching one's face or nose.

On January 11, China announced its first death from the virus, a 61-year-old man who had purchased goods from the seafood market. Treatment did not improve his symptoms after he was admitted to hospital and he died of heart failure on the evening of January 9. 
On January 13, the WHO reported a case in Thailand, the first outside of China, in a woman who had arrived from Wuhan.
On January 16, Japan's health ministry reported a confirmed case in a man who had also visited Wuhan.
On January 17, as a second death was reported in Wuhan, health authorities in the US announced that three airports would start screening passengers arriving from the city.
Authorities in the United States, Nepal, France, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan confirmed cases over the following days.

On January 20, China reported a third death and more than 200 infections, with cases also reported outside Hubei province including in the capital Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Meanwhile, a Chinese expert on infectious diseases confirmed human-to-human transmission to state broadcaster CCTV, raising fears of a major outbreak as millions travelled for the Lunar New Year holiday.
Asian countries ramped up measures to block the spread of the virus, introducing mandatory screenings at airports of all arrivals from high-risk areas of China.
On January 22, the death toll in China jumped to 17 with more than 550 infections. Many European airports stepped up checks on flights from Wuhan.
Wuhan was placed under effective quarantine on January 23 as air and rail departures were suspended.
The same measures were announced for two more cities in Hubei province: Xiantao and Chibi.
Beijing cancelled events for the Lunar New Year, starting on January 25, while officials reported the first death outside Hubei

(Full Text) "Reasons Why Buhari Reducd Price Of Petrol" - Adams Oshiomhole Says

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol from N145 to N125 per litre.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem.
It quoted him to have described the President’s decision as “a product of a progressive mind driving the machinery of a responsive, responsible and compassionate government.”
The statement reads:-
“On behalf of the National Working Committee of our great party, the APC, I commend our dear President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on his decision, which received the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), to reduce the pump price of petrol from N145 to N125 per litre.
“This clearly shows how progressive-minded the APC administration under President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership is.
“It is also indicative of how compassionate the administration is in the desire and effort to align with the current global economic realities foisted on us by the fall in crude oil prices.
“Without a doubt, it is also, very largely, a measure of the administration’s responsiveness to the need for accountability in public finance management and openness in governance.”
Oshiomhole noted that since there is a crash in global crude oil prices, the APC-led Federal Government ensured that it did not toe the path of some previous administrations by not responding to the obvious direct effects of the crash.
He blasted that it would be the eternal credit of the APC-led Federal Government on the watch of Buhari that the unprecedented decision was taken to ensure that Nigerians benefit from the reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit.

Falz Slams Sanwo-Olu For Begging Nigerians To Donate For Abule Ado Explosion


On Sunday, March 15, an explosion rocked Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos state.
The explosion was widespread as it hit schools, houses and office complexes, leaving 17 dead and many injured.
Lagos state governor, Babjide Sanwo-olu visited the site for on-the-spot assessment of the situation, then he made a pledge to set up a 2 billion naira relief fund for the victims.
However, he decried the Lagos state government’s inability to solely raise the funds, hence his decision to call on well meaning Nigerians to donate to the cause.

A day after making the pledge, the governor revealed that N250 million has been pumped into the fund as he released bank details to which well-meaning donors will deposit the remaining N1.75 billion for the victims of the Abule Ado explosion.
But Nigerian musician, Falz who believes that the state is financially buoyant enough to come up with the 2 billion naira called it a joke.
Falz, taking to his social media, wrote: “What kind of joke is this? Who are you asking to donate?”

Sakpa, Sanwo-Olu Open GoFundMe Account To Raise 2 Billion Naira For Abule Ado Explosion

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has opened a GoFundMe account to raise 2 Billion Naira Relief Funds for victims of Abule Ado explosion.
While speaking at the scene of the explosion yesterday, the governor said the State Government alone cannot bear the victim relief responsibilities alone but a GoFundMe account will be opened with 250million Naira only from the state pockets.

Earlier today, the Governor announced that the GoFundMe account is ready and appealed to Nigerians to contribute whatever they have to support the explosion victims.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has finally reacted to the Abule Ado explosion, which led to the death of 17 persons

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Director-General Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that 17 bodies were found after explosion at Abule-Ado area of Lagos state.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile appealed to residents to maintain a safe distance to avoid breathing in polluted air.
He also instructed the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to immediately release personal safety equipment to be distributed to residents of the affected area and all safety workers on ground.
The safety equipment such as face and nose protection masks have been delivered.

The governor said that the protective equipment were to prevent any form of medical hazard such as respiratory infections on the residents, who might inhale toxic substances from the explosion.
He noted that in such a situation, there would be unhealthy substances that could negatively affect people’s lungs.
Sanwo-Olu further appealed to residents around the Abule Ado pipeline explosion area to make safety their priority as combined safety teams of the Lagos State Emergency Authority (LASEMA) LASEPA; the State Safety Commission; the Lagos State Fire Service; the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) continue efforts to clear up the scene.

(Full Text) NNPC Gives Reasons For The Explosion In Abule Ado

The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has revealed that the explosion which rocked Abule Ado community of Lagos State earlier today, was caused by a truck which struck gas cylinders in the community.

In a statement released by NNPC, it was gathered that the gas cylinders which was hit by the truck were stacked in a gas processing plant located near the corporation’s system 2B Pipeline Right of Way.
The corporation explained that preliminary findings indicated that the impact of the explosion was so huge that it led to the collapse of nearby houses and damage to NNPC pipeline on which efforts are being made to curtail the resultant fire.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari and other top Management of the corporation departed for Lagos this evening for an on-the-spot assessment at the scene of the incident.

Obateru stated that following the report of the explosion, the corporation quickly halted ongoing pumping operations on the Atlas Cove-Mosimi pipeline which was active at the time.
The release explained that NNPC had already mobilized its in-house combined team consisting of Health Safety Environment experts, Medical and Security personnel from its nearby Satellite Depot in Lagos, even as Lagos State Fire Service was also rallied to extinguish the fire.
The release said more fire firefighting personnel and equipment were mobillised from the NNPC Mosimi Area Office to provide extra fillip to the ongoing operation.
While assuring members of the public and residents of the affected communities to remain calm, the NNPC’s spokesman assured that the temporary shutdown of the petroleum products pipeline would not affect the normal supply of products to the Lagos and its environs.

Boko Haram Trained In My Country Before Going Back To Africa - Somali President

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud says Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants were trained in his country before going back to West Africa.
According to Press TV, Mohamud said at a security conference in Germany that militant groups in Africa are associated and that the African states need to be organized to be able to deal with their threats.

He noted that his country, which is plagued by attacks by al-Shabab militants as well as corruption and political infighting, has only made limited progress in setting up a working political system.
Somalia has not had a functioning central administration since civil war erupted a quarter of a century ago.

“Without a stable Somalia, the whole region of the Horn of Africa will remain unstable and by and large, the African continent. There are proofs and evidence that (for) some time Boko Haram has been trained in Somalia and they went back to Nigeria,” Mohamud said.
“The terrorists are so linked together, they are associated and so organized, (that) we the world we need to be so organized,” he added.
Al-Shabab militants, which have link to al-Qaeda, have frequently staged attacks against government officials and civilians over the past years.
Boko Haram, on the other hand, has pledged allegiance to the Daesh Takfiri group, which is wreaking havoc in Syria and Iraq.
