At least he finally has a certificate, cheesy cheesy

Congrats Buhari, Against all odds you now have a certificate at 72 years. it's not easy

Meanwhile even in defeat Jonathan gains the world attention and now regarded as the Father of modern democracy in Africa. He has cemented himself as an accomplished statesman. He lost elections and he congratulated the winner and conceded defeat.

He has given us true democracy in Nigeria by enacting Freedom of Information and free and fair elections, no political assassinations despite the tensed atmosphere.... Something Obasanjo could not achieve in 8 years...(remember Bola Ige, Harry Marshal, Funso Williams...) and in fact Obasanjo almost went in for a 3rd term undecided.

God bless you Jonathan.

It continues too...

Sani Abacha and his wife went to Aso rock, only his wife came back...

Obasanjo and his wife went to Aso rock, only Obasanjo came back...

Umaru Musa Yar'Adua went to Aso rock with his wife, only his wife returned...

Goodluck Jonathan went to Aso rock with his wife together... They are returning together, family intact!!!

He broke the curse in Aso Rock... Can a man be this blessed? smiley smiley..

Dear Lord please make me CLUELESS like Jonathan and please give me a wife like Patience Jonathan that can fight for me and defend me everywhere, a strong woman, Iron Lady. This i pray, AMEN!!!
Epic fail. Tell God to change your name to Good luck Jonathan too

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

The former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is considered a master political strategist who guided Buhari’s aspiration to a success at the party’s national convention last year.

Sai-Baba2Tinubu was able to ensure that not only did Buhari get the block vote of the Southwest, but also ensured that many states outside the region that did not have governors in the contest supported Buhari.

After the nomination convention, Tinubu together with likeminded party members was able to weave a formidable campaign machine that put Buhari to victory. Reflective of Tinubu’s imprint in the victory was the fact that Buhari in his last three runs never made an impression in the Southwest, a region he swept last weekend with victories in five of the six states.

Despite the lures and lashes from the opposition, Tinubu stood firm in an unwavering support for Buhari that proved crucial in achieving victory.

Is there any way/approach that could be adopted to wrestle power from PDP?

Tinubu is very wise. After 8 years of the Hausa, One of Fashola or Mamora will lead Nigeria

That's not slavery.

Hausa can't rule for more than 8 years. How's that slavery? please tell us

Since the euphoria of the election victory, no one has deemed it fit to give credit to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban and the man behind the opposition in Nigeria.

He was elected in 1999 as the governor of Lagos State, under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) and after the 2003 general election, Bola Tinubu remained the only surviving AD governor to be reelected as Governor.

He contested against funsho Williams and he won a keenly contested election. AD lost in other Southwestern states.

from 2003-2007, he fought the powers at the top. What Amechi is doing now, was done by BAT against OBJ. OBJ seized the allocation for years. Instead of Lagos to collapse, BAT devised a means to increase the IGR for the state, which sustained Lagos State.

in 2007, he stood against other big names in AC and made Fashola the governor. Fashola a product of BAT performed excellently. from 2007 and 2012, he regained Ondo, Edo, Ekiti and Osun from PDP.

in 2011, he ensured that ACN regained other southwestern states lost to PDP in 2003.

He also ensure the emergence of Aminu Tambuwal as the speaker of the house of Rep, against the wishes of the PDP.

He made George Akume the minority leader of the senate, instead of someone from Southwest.

He strengthened the opposition by releasing his party for the formation of APC, realising that to take power from PDP, you need a formidable force.

He ensured the emergence of GMB as the APC flag bearer, sponsoring him, making Amechi campaign DG and then selecting a Pastor as GMB's running mate to secure the Christian Block votes.

What else can I say?

BAT is 100% responsible for what we are about to celebrate tonight.

Give credit to who deserves it

PoliticsRe: WHAT The Nigerian Constitution Says About Declaring A Winner After An Election by davodyguy(op): 11:11am On Mar 31, 2015
This simply means if BUHARI wins 21 states, it will appear like this

Buhari won 21 states = 25% in 21 states
Buhari Lost in Nasarawa but scored at least 25%
Buhari Lost in Taraba but scored at least 25%
Buhari lost in Edo but scored at least 25%
Buhari lost in Ekiti but scored at least 25%

Therefore 21 states plus numbers from Edo, Ekiti, Nasarawa and Taraba means at least 25% in 25 states

What he needs now is to score the highest number of votes in 36states +FCT to be declared winner Today
PoliticsRe: WHAT The Nigerian Constitution Says About Declaring A Winner After An Election by davodyguy(op): 11:03am On Mar 31, 2015
Jokay07:
Thanks bro, but I don't really understand that 25% of a thing as regards to the constitutional provision. I would be glad if you can help me with that.
very simple

Either GEJ or Buhari must must win a minimum of 25% of votes cast in 24 states + FCT in Nigeria.

Take for example if total number of votes cast in Oyo was 400,000 votes and GeJ won 250,000 and Buhari won 150,000, it simply mean that from 400,000, Buhari had 37.5%, whilst GEJ had 62.5%.

This must happen in 24 states and FCT

Votes 400,000 =100%
GEJ 250,000 = 62.7%
GMB 150,000= 37.5%

Presidential election

Article 134 (2) of the Nigerian Constitution stipulates that a presidential candidate will be duly elected after attaining both the highest number of votes cast; and has received at least a quarter of the votes at each of at least two-thirds of all the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja. If no candidate satisfies the requirement, a second election will be held between the two leading candidates within seven days from the pronouncement of the result
Lets analyze the above quote

1) PDP of APC candidate must first score or record the highest number of votes from the ballots caste. i.e one of GEJ and GMB must have out performed the other based on number of votes.

Scenario 1 GEJ 14,556,889 votes GMB 13,556,767votes
Scenario 2 GMB 14,556,889 votes GEJ 13,556,767votes

2) Who so ever wins in 1, should have scored 25% of those votes in 24 States + FCT out 36 States.

It means if GEJ scored/ recorded 14,556,889 votes, he must have done so based on 25% of those votes in 24 States + FCT out 36 States. on the other hand,

if GMB scored/ recorded 14,556,889 votes, he must have done so based on 25% of those votes in 24 States + FCT out 36 States.

3) In the event that neither 1 and 2 happens, the 3rd thing that will happen is a rerun within 7 days. A rerun means another fresh general election, this time between Buhari and Jonathan alone, leaving aside other candidates that didn't perform well. This happened in Liberia between Goerge Weah and Sirleaf Johnson, in which Sirleaf Johnson emerged.

Finally, 1 and 2 must happen as 1 and 2 are mutually nonexclusive for both GEJ and GMB.

It is not negotiable

Fellow Nigerians. Please be calm. As it stands now, APC has allegedly won in 21 states with PDP winning 15+FCT.
Let's add Benue for PDP, even though APC won. This would mean
APC=20 and PDP=16+FCT
APC already have more than 25% in Ekiti, Nasarrawa, Taraba, Benue, FCT, Plateau

20+4= at least 25% votes in 2/3 of 36 States
