EMMAACHILE:Whatever rocks your boat. If you have the money and the space, why not? Its not unnecessary for enthusiast that wants to throw cash around. I can also do it too. Only Astra 19.2 east gives me the bundesliga coverage unrivaled. |
EMMAACHILE:I have been having discussion with the man from other threads. He's just looking for the easiest and non complex way out, since he admitted he's a newbie. There's no harm for a starter to get everything needed, get an installer and start from the easiest and the simplest way out. Telling him to go the w3a way for data reminds me of those days of microbox and avatar. lol. no IKS back then and it was two dishes. One for 36 east and the other for w3a |
That's a 6 metres dish with industrial Jack |
alvins4ull:I don't know about that oo and wouldn't comment about it either. What i know is that, the Aluminium dishes we get in local market are imported from china, but the fibre dishes are fabricated locally. My own 4 metre dish was acquired in 2007 and its a local fabrication. The only Nairalander that i know of, who imported a grad one 5m is Butoneday in warri. I was told he spent close to N1million to get it in. The dish is comparable to those ones you find in NTA or AIT. |
alvins4ull:Oga, I'll advice you to go for a 4m dish if you have space in your house. Get Hotbird and one of these IKS boxes. I can see these things are too complicated for you. The best option is for you to get the bigger dish. I have this Kodi Tv on my Laptop and 30mins Stream of BBC, CNN, TLC, Skysports 1, British Eurosport and True movies 1, has taking away almost 300Mb from my Spectranet broadband internet data. It makes a lot of sense but can never comparable to normal TV. For you a newbie, Get the dish, thats if the cash is available and also the space in your house, so as not to infringe on others' right of way |

YES including Africa Magic and Orisun |
Talibanis:Abi o. Data consumption alone is as high as 300MB for a complete footbal match, If not more. Also if the network is not strong enough in your area, forget it |

Boss13:I think you should learn to read with open mind, so as not to appear presumptuous in forming your opinion Boss13:That's where you got it wrong. The other part of the same line you aligned with in the post says 'A lady or my school friends back in the university came visiting' You trying to align with the gender and thereafter emphasizing on it makes your your response look lopsided. Also, i have clarified the kind of impression I'm talking about, which has nothing to do with the prejudice word 'Low Self esteem syndrome' Boss13:I agree on this. For you it's sufficient and i think for foreign movies lovers and all sport lovers too. It would be unwise for anyone of us to try to mount 3m dish in a rented apartment. It doesnt even matter as much as it would be in a situation where there's space constraint and one chooses to mount a big dish and encroach on the space of other without an easement. Boss13:Yes and No. In Nigeria that you and i are based isnt really ready for anything if we wouldnt be fooling ourselves. Look at Data cost for instance, does it make any sense? Look at the silly regulatory body NCC, are they really helping anyone? Look at the CPC, are they really protecting the consumers? MTN network is very poor in my house. AIRTEL, GLO and ETISALAT arent better either. Lets go to the Broadband ISP Swift 4G average. Spectranet will have 3 level signal strength out of 5. So IPTV requires high level DATA speed. I have IPTV boxes at home and its very annoying trying to watch live matches. I watched Man u vs Chelsea game 2 or 3 Sundays ago and it was hell. The freezing is comparable to that of qsat. Picture quality, IPTV is incomparable Local programmes like local Nigerian contents, IPTV scores 0/100. No Nollywood movies, local channels for local contents etc Cost is on the high side compared with alternatives Boss13:Thanks for your time too. We will keep learning from ourselves till the day we breathe our last breath |

mercyitodo:Dubai sport is also poor quality? I see you're a learner in this business. Picture quality of Dubai Sport is equal to what you get on DSTV |
alvins4ull:They serve almost same purposes Android boxes are for IPTV, whilst the other ones can be used as you use your strong decoder BRB |
mercyitodo:If you read my prologue about choices at the previous page, then you'll understand my position. I as a person isn't the movie Frick. I love watching the bundesliga and only the bundesliga. In Nigeria today, DSTV and Startimes are the only options to watch it, Save Dubai sport on 4metres and Be in sport. I heard that star times has acquired the right to air the bundesliga from season 2015/16 for 3 years in place of DSTV. What I'll be using this box for is to watch German league matches that aren't available on DSTV, Star times or FTA. AFrica Magic Yoruba and AM urban and AM Showcase makes a lot of sense to me. Sky movies, ITV etc can relax. Its FTA, Paytv and IPTV in that order for me |
Abeg enough of all these Left church around 11:00am this morning and drove straight to the gas station close to the deeper Christian Life church in gbagada and bought full tank of petrol with no queue. The thing has started easing off |
Blackshort:I agree with you. Just that sometimes 'our' opinion can be out of place. ![]() |
mercyitodo:Bravo that that Emmachile is your close friend in Lokoja. We have to celebrate this by walking from Ghana to Afghanistan. ![]() That's to say Big dishes are still not out of place |
ojbboy:Oga, this car is not a 2002 model for F's sake why downgrading the car? |
Blackshort:Oga, being a guru or popular person doesn't immune any human being from erring. Either of the two parties may be wrong or right depending on how they viewed the saga. What matters is that, when issues occurs, they should be resolved in a matured manner |
agkilis:You didn't need to post the number. I know you're trying to prove that you're saying the truth. Shitz do happen. I just bought some satellite TV products from a naira lander, which turned out to be fake. I called him and he didn't dispute. We tried reaching an agreement over the matter by not washing the dirt online. You guys can settle out of Nairaland court. cheers |
Boss13:Like you posited in a line in your post, you're far from comprehending my point. I'm not dwelling too much on impressing people with what I watch, which obviously they too can have since its very non exclusive. I'm talking about the data cost and the freezing. The latter which is not due to the consumer but the ISP. Can you impress a guest when your TV freezes intermittently? So you dwelling on 'impression' for the most part of your post shows you're not on the same page with the post you quoted. Whilst our other sources are still primary to me as an individual, they'll not be second classed. I'll take this option as secondary If you also took your time to read what I posted, towards the last paragraph, I talked about 3m dish. This means, some us will still go for the main sources, to get our Nilesat, Hotbird and Astra 19.2 degrees east, which has almost all the sky digital channels that I do watch when I'm in the UK holidaying. Knowledge is power, but not necessarily being 'overzealous' in the quest for knowledge. If God blesses you with Your own house with ample space, you can even use 5 metres dish to watch all of these channels without using data Someone in Warri, named Dejsam is one of our old members in the Satellite TV a action, spent close to a million naira importing 5meters dish in 2008/09 and today, he's watching the 'whole world' acquiring that knowledge. Its an individual thing |
Boss13:Back to the 'reasonable' issue. A lady or my school friends back in the university came visiting, is it adding value to me watching this in their presence? I talked about opportunity cost and alternative forgone. This IPTV should still be a second option and not the primary one. I'm going for it as a back and not as a replace ment. Same Emmachile wants 3m dish, someone like him too will use IPTV as a back rather than Primary source |
Boss13:Yes I know, but the modem and router for Spectranet is big and the battery doesn't last. I use one in the office. Except if they have a MIFI dongle. MIFI sef consumes battery a lot |
Nigerians and corners.
There's a new sheriff in town ![]() |
EMMAACHILE:Let's do reasonable calculations here I have all the IKS I have a motorised dish I have one of Star times and GOTV I have two phones that I get minimum of 2gb data on, monthly basis for normal office work Why should I get a Spectranet that's not too portable like a phone and be adding 7000 to my monthly expenses? It means some things will be based on opportunity cost, with alternatives to forgo. I guess we ran to IKS and motorised dish to save cost, not so? |
Nice one but I'm more concerned about data consumption. DSTV is about 13k plus monthly, how will I spend on data to ha e 24hours access? |
CMS is a bus stop and also a Church ![]() |
alvins4ull:Well, pan would make sense from 90cm to 2.4m. I used to own a 4m dish, till I sold it off. Fibre makes send in big sizes. Fibre dishes are usually made here in Nigeria as against aluminium dishes that are imported into Nigeria from China. Ask Sammu the author of this thread. they do cast the fibre dish around Sango area in Lagos |
alvins4ull:4 meters will be fibre and you'll import to Oyo from Lagos |
Irib now live at my end |
