Bro, the whole Nigerian education system is messed up. It's unfortunate that our best brains who should help palliate things are being funded by the West and used to contribute to their already developed region. They just won't stop developing. Every good brain in the country wants out; it's pathetic.

I visited the veterinary medicine page yesterday and I just kept on shaking my head. The design was awful, it looked like something a 7-year-old played on and came up with. Had I been a foreigner, that alone would have discouraged me. This is UI, how worse does it get with the other schools below.

First of all, I guess that is your problem, so handle it. On the other hand, I never blamed anyone for applying LATE but waiting for a confirmation message to no avail almost six days after succesful payment rather than proceeding with their registration or asking for help in time, so I believe you must be suffering from "intellect-myopia" being unable to comprehend my simple comments.
And I must still point out that there are some applicants' questions here that are NOT worth replying/answering; they sound either too lame or unserious. "How do you apply?" I bet you have not read the whole of the thread as you claim, if you did you would have known by now. I hope you don't want to play the Devil's advocate here?
LOL... Hilarious.

Human beings are funny creatures. Some persons for over six days are still waiting for a "confirmation link/text message" after SUCCESSFUL payment before they can proceed with their registrations. Very funny. I bet they are so unserious, too proud to ask questions early enough, not following up the posts on this thread and others or all of the above.

What confirmation link are they still waiting for in the past seven days or more when they just have four days to the application deadline? How many times will I and others here state that NO confirmation link/message will be sent to your email after payment - that the applicant should go back to the PG website and login as an "Existing Applicant" by filling the Username & Password earlier sent to her/his mailbox? If she/he had tried the aforementioned step and it did not work then we can now know it is the fault of the School and profer solutions; not the one you are at fault and still keeping silent. There are some questions here I find very irrelevent/unserious, hence not worth paying attention.
I have been reading comments from page 1 up till this page. I gotta say it to you, bro, you've not been nice with your comments. You don't make assumptions and believe firmly that you know the reason for people's actions; you just don't. Everyone has their reason(s) for applying late, and ufortunately for the world, they also have the all the rights in the universe to choose when to apply. It's just gonna be up to you to either help them make the process easy, or not. I bet if everyone applying late all opened up to you, you'd be amazed. This is a public forum, there's a certain way to 'behave.' Seeing your attitude, I think Fergie001 should be given a medal.

I have to modify this. Your comments beyond this particular post have been to encourage and buoy applicants up. Kudos!!
I probably should have read till the end ...lolz. ...My bad. But mehn, I just felt I had seen enough on that page 12 or so.

Now, how do I apply? tongue
EducationCan We Have A Research Thread On Here? by dawbbleOuEi(op): 11:04am On Jul 24, 2017
Can we have a research thread? Or maybe a new section in the forum to be about research; more or less our own little Google Scholar on Nairaland, where we can all talk share and talk about academic literature and stuff. It'd really be a nice thing going for scientists and budding scientists. We can discuss research works, share our Google scholar profiles, links to publications and whatnot. It will help fledging scientists, especially undergraduate science students, find scholarly works and sources that exist on their project topics right here on Nairaland!

Modified: Well, we could have Education, Arts and Humanities also; academic literature generally.

Well, I just saw the content of the file, and I must say that IF IT'S CREDIBLE AND ANYTHING TO GO BY, then I'm really disappointed in the AUC. An answer to a question of whether or not successful applicants would be deployed at the start of the new year says that CVs of trained volunteers are matched with available vacancies within the African Union’s Organs and partner organisations. Volunteers are encouraged to continue with their normal lives until they have received official communication from the AUYVC

Well, I think that's really crappy. Why should they ever call for application when there aren't vacancies?? Why not make deployments in batches?? What do they take us youths for? Youth engagement and participation my foot! And I thought they had a different touch and approach to things, better than my beloved Nigeria, it's crystal now that they don't! They too lack organisation, desultoriness eats into their core too. I really am disappointed. They aren't ready for that socioeconomic renaissance they claim to aim to achieve with this scheme. I fear for Africa.

Ah! Sir, I was among the first peeps that applied this year. Faster than my shadow I must say. I made lots of error from this feedback. I used my NYSC discharge certificate as the recommendation letter and my peace corps deployment letter as my second recommendation letter. Please is it advisable to reapply? Or should I just hand it over to God? My motivation letter by the grace of God is OK.

God bless you.
Yeah, you should hand it over. I wouldn't advise you re-apply. It's not a Nigerian system; we should expect it to be solid, and not as leaky as most Nigerian systems.

I have a question, though.... Are the two recommendation letters you uploaded a part of the mistakes you've realised and are trying to correct?

This year is my AU YVC year no doubt!

I applied last year, I wasn't selected but was given a feedback from them of how my application was 90% okay except the little omission which made my application not to be selected , this is one area Nigerian recruiters need to upgrade to, giving recruitment feedback. It would help candidates a lot.
Emboldened is highly commendable.

Having a 3rd class is not the end of the world, the best you can do is not to dwell on it. With a good GRE score, Toefl, good letter of recommendation and solid SOP. You can right your wrong. Research for schools that have minimum of 2.5/4 CGPA as requirement and apply. You should get enough to spread your risk. You can also try some schools that are mostly white dominated, states like Mississippi, Missouri should come to mind. If you are ready to put in the work, nothing can stop you. Just to motivate you, I have a friend that had a 3rd class back in OAU, he graduated with an MSc in Petroleum Engineering Last Spring. You might not get funding in your 1st semester but with a good GPA and attitude you might get in second semester. You can search www.msinus.com for schools that accept low cgpa, also try schools that you are a little less off the CGPA requirement you never can tell. This story might motivate you too http://3dpancakes.typepad.com/ernie/2005/03/re_phd_with_low.html
I see it's a thing with you- dishing out soothing words when mostly needed. This is an apposite response, that guy's spirit must have been uplifted! Thank you!! Well done!!!

Motivation Letter

If you ever applied for admission in any University UK you will understand very well that motivation letter. You are not addressing it to anyone, Rather is more like a story telling, about your career aspirations, your achievements, why you choose to study in that University and Country. And of what benefits the course will be to your country and your future career goals.
And is a key indices for you to get admission in UK universities.
I got about three Admissions in UK Universities.
Unfortunately I couldn't secured Scholarship...
Fortunately, I am conversant with foreign admissions. Emboldened is what basically distinguishes a motivation letter from a cover letter. Yes, we're writing a mot letter, but hey, the AUC is no university. That mot letters for admission abroad don't require addressing doesn't rule out the possibility of the requirement in other governmental and nongovernmental organisations. Bro, the fact that we're writing for a volunteering position is what even makes it ok to be regarded as a mot letter, otherwise we would be writing 'cover letter' to fly with our CVs.

Still an opinion.

A motivation letter and a cover letter are not entirely the same. They serve different purposes. Cover letter is only more commonly used by organisations to mean both. IMO, asking whether or not our letters should be addressed is a question folks who have gone through the process would best be able to answer. Surfing the web would also do the trick. As for me, I went through the advert again, and figured it's a division/department in the AUC making the advert. To me, our MOTIVATION letters should be addressed to that department while leaving out our own address.

Again, it's just my opinion. I'm an applicant myself.

happyday:
Yeah, that's standard. Whichever you take, you'll write two essays One "Issue", the other "Argument." Practice writing those essays, if only to know how real testing conditions would look like. The PBT can't afford to be adaptive based on sections, obviously. Which means, you get the exact same set of questions irrespective of how well you did in a prior section. And yes, prepare for 6 weeks to get your scores. You know when your apps are due, so you're in the best position to see if it's worth the wait. It's totally up to you, which you take.

Both are comparable in terms of difficulty. Like I said, I took pbt cos it was the only one around me at the time. If I had to choose either, I imagine I'd have taken the computer-based.
Ok. Thank you.
@ emboldened... I'd thought two Arguments and two Issues. Thanks for the clarification.
Again, thank you.
EducationRe: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by dawbbleOuEi:
happyday:
No negative impact for the paper-based test. ETS tries to level the playing ground for everyone. Other than the key points you already noted, I wouldn't worry about either of them. Choose the one more comfortable, and available, to you. Back then, I wrote the pbt because it was the only type in my state.
- For the pbt, you'll hand write your AWA instead of typing, so you'll want to make it clear and legible. And you also get a basic function calculator.
Thank you so much!
I just read your post on page 206 smiley
I've gathered that there are two AWAs. Is this true, did you have two AWAs in your time?
Also, how did section-level adaptiveness play out?
I'm a Fall 2018 aspirant, and my thinking is that the 6weeks score reporting period wouldn't matter. Am I thinking ok? Would you advise the paper-based?
