Are we looking at Wilson Palacios here? cheesy

Pogba's defensive side of the game is on the average, you did observe well. I see him to be more of a box-to-box midfielder.

TBH there are few decent DMs out there. It got that bad, that Bayern had to go snap up an ageing Xabi Alonso.

Can we price Javi Martinez away from Pep?

He is another bloke who knows how the deep-lying midfield role works.

I love Javi Martinez, but there's no way you're prizing him away from Bayern.

Oluwa o. . Who jinxed Costa/?

Why does Willian get so much games and bore us with his pathetic performances? He needs to taste the bench for some time abeg.

Costa has been a bit off since that injury, yesterday he had a very good game, shame he didn't score. He was a complete nuisance for the Stoke centre backs. He moved them left, right and centre, his movement created space for that Fabregas goal. He will come good, he'll still hit 20-25 goals this season in all competitions, and that's a success for a first season if you asked me.

And Willian is so underrated here, it hurts me. I know his decision making is not the best and his output could be better, but he brings so much to the team's stability. I don't know if you guys notice it too but Ivanovic has no been that solid this season, and Willian has been responsible for covering his A.ss every single game. Ivanovic moves way up the pitch and he doesn't have the energy to track back, Willian does that for him everytime. Sometimes, it feels like Willian is playing a defensive Right forward and Ivanovic is playing an offensive right full back position, for lack of better description.

The weakness in our right flank is exposed whenever Willian is absent or out of position. We conceded two detrimental goes from that weakness this season and each time Willian wasn't there to cover Ivanovic. The goal against City and the one against United.

Schurrle is the better player going forward, but Willian's all round game is better and works a lot for stability of the team. Plus Schurrle need to learn to pass, he opts to shoot too often and I maybe be reading to much into this but it seems like his teammates are not very happy with him. For example, when he scored against derby, Only Azpilicueta ran to celebrate with him. Only Cesar. Although he scored with that shot, Costa was in space in a better position but he didn't pass.

Matic is the best DM in England, no debates there.

If only we can snap up Strootman, and have a midfield pivot of Matic Strootman, then It's a phucking demolition football next season cheesy

I always wonder how a pivot of this Matic and Prime Michael Essien would be. . . . . If we could find a player in the mould of Michael Essien in his prime, we'd be invincible. Pogba is really close to that, but I'm watching him a lot recently and I think the defensive side of his game is a bit overrated. He makes a few tackles here and there tho. Maybe Jose can make him a proper pivot player. I'm not really bothered about the price tag, I'm sure if Chelsea wants him, we can get him for a lot less than the quoted £70m, plus top teams spend a lot of achieve world Domination, ala Real Madrid last season.

I know some people will argue that a purchase like that will hinder youth integration into the first team, but I doubt. If we get a player in the mould of Michael Essien, with a proper blend of Brain, Sleek and Brawn, We can move Mikel and Ramires. That's leaves a slot, that will most likely be filled with a home grown player because our team is sorta short of Home grown quota once Terry retires. Any Good Academy player can take that spot. The most ready of Bamford, Loftus-Cheek, Baker and Chalobah can snap up that spot. Well, this na how I see things.

When you know your footie, you don't need to listen to clowns.

I was a clown when I was 'hating' on Mata, Ramires, Mikel etc, years before it became cool to hate on them.

Imagine a ninja who opposed Fabregas signing and thought Mata was best thing since sliced bread asking me why I think Mata is a passenger and Fabregas is not? Imagine that - when I'm the one who called it right. A ninja who does not know his thumb from his elbow.

BTW, I was just passing through to speak on two haters from Bayern who were comparing Jose to Brendan when a busybody nigga accosted me about Sterling - thinking because Liverpool are struggling, he can use that to prove Sterling is inferior to Oscar - only to find Sterlings level of contribution is the same in a team in the bottom half.

BTW, I want to ask the ninjas in the house - if the Koke deal goes through, who would be the nigga to be dropped? Would it be Matic or Fab4? Nah! We all know where the weakest link is - in other words, he's just plugging the gap until real niggas arrive!

oNe

Victor Moses has 2 goals and 3 assists in lesser appearances than Raheem Sterling, and in even a far poorer team.

VICTOR MOSES IS BETTER THAN RAHEEM STERLING.

Give me another winger bar Hazard. You know Hazard is a precise mudafucka who doesn't even do crosses or cutbacks. He will dribble inside and lay the ball on your feet.

Go and fetch Jesus Navas stats for example.

Why should I fetch Navas' stats? If you claim Sterling passes better than Oscar, then you're putting him in the same bracket as the Hazards and Robbens and Iniestas and the Neymars of the game.

He clearly falls waaaaaaay short.

To each his opinion, but Sterling is no where near Oscar's quality.

And I responded thus:

All those cutbacks that Raheem regularly cuts back into the box after dribbling his man is what you are counting - nonsense stats.

Also Liverpool is a counterattacking team who break at fast pace. They don't pass easy passes in their half, they break quickly and release passes at speed. Last season, Coutinho only made 80% of his passes (lower than Raheem's 82%) - and every man and his dog knows Coutinho would pass Oscar to death.

Can you see Raheem through on goal with two men either side and overhit a pass as we've seen Oscar do 5 times in the last 3 weeks?

You and I know say all those 'he plays from the wing' excuse no count. I don't need Opta to know that Hazard has better passing stats that Oscar, for example. Doesn't he play from the wing too?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by dawhizkid1(m): 7:21pm On Nov 04, 2014
Ibime:

Yes, because from the wing, most of your passes are crosses which don't hit your man. Wingers have much lower percentage success than central midfielders, that's fact, nothing new. Raheem is a much better passer.

Check which of Oscar's passes are successful, it's those 10 yard passes with no pressure. Ramires also plays those passes and gets 85% regularly and no one calls him a decent passer.

As soon as Oscar has to release a man, everything overhit or underhit.

You discussing old news that Nateevs has already covered months ago - he was one of the first to tell us Oscar is a goat at passing, and one of the first to highlight Raheem's brilliance.

Oscar ko, Oscar ni.

Oga boss, in about 90 Mins, we'll see Sterling lift his team against Madrid. grin

We can all agree that Oscar is one of our better performers in Europe, no?

Sidenote: I'm obviously trolling.

Thanks for the tutorial. Appreciated.

@Ibime

I know you have sound knowledge of the game, but you are letting your dislike of Oscar get the better of you. And I don't even need stats to see Oscar is a far far better than Sterling and Draxler, especially Sterling. But Nihilist already presented stats that show that, even for Oscar's relatively poor passing, he is better in that department than Sterling.

His touch is also below average, and his vision is non existent.

It's my job to make you watch players closely. It took 2 years of me teling everyone on this thread that Ramires is a poor player for ninjas to watch his game.

Technique is not an all-encompassing word. A ninja can have great technique in hitting shots but be piss-poor at passing . Example Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink, Rashidi Yekini, Ramires.

Oscar does not have anywhere close to the technique of a top midfielder. His technique at hitting shots is just a bonus like Ramires. The nigga is inept at his primary duty.

I know what technique is, and Oscar is not crap technically. His Close control is decent, He can trap really well, his shooting is top class. It just his passing that is bad, especially for a player that has played with Mata, Hazard and Cesc. Not Ramires bad tho. Never Ramires bad.

Oscar is crap technically, nothing you cut and paste here will improve his technique or vision.

A player who is crap technically can not score that goal, or the one against Juve or the Freekick against Stoke last season, or the free kick this season. Plus, it has happen too many times to be a fluke.

Honestly, I've been watching Oscar closely for the last four/five game. Wigga can't pass for real. He's always over hitting passes. Top player still.

We are here in the Premier league mate. We see what Raheem Sterling is doing and how influential he is, scoring or assisting every game while Oscar struggles to get in the team. That's why Real are sniffing £70m bid for him.

The so called Oscar, two years in England can't even win a nomination for PFA Young Player of the year award and someone said he is one of the top in the world, yet can't make a list of 6 young players in England alone, something Raheem Stirling was nominated for last year - 4 years his junior.

Draxler can't make his National team, neither can Gotze who I just proved is not Oscars mate. If Oscar was German, he might not make the B squad sef.

I have not finished with my Under-23s. What of Aaron Ramsey, a ninja who is winning games week in, week out?

Oscar ko! Oscar ni!

Is this the point where we shout British hype? You buy into that British hype? But since you're playing a game of hypothethicals, let's play it together. If Raheem Sterling was a Brazilian, he won't get a cap till he dies. If Oscar was English, he would be the first name on their starting eleven.

I've said it before, I won't argue with you if you really believe Sterling and Draxler are better than Oscar.

Ramsey is 24.

So why should I name ten under 23s?

Our AM should equally be in the top 5 or 10 AMS - this is not U17 World Cup we're playing here.

Top-10 Under 23 level players should be playing at Leverkusen, not Chelsea.

If I start listing the Gotze's, Draxlers and Sterlings of this world finish, I'm sure I'll get past 10 sef.

Honestly, there is no issue here if you rate Raheem Sterling and Julian 'I don't even make my national team starting XI' Draxler above Oscar. No issue really.

Funny enough, none of those guys can play as a classic number 10. You just have a problem with Oscar, I guess.

First of all, Oscar never played in the "park the bus" games so forget that excuse. Jose wouldn't let him.

Go and check Lampard's stats in 2004-2006 under the same Mourinho and tell me whether he was playing only 36 passes a game.

If Oscar's game is not about passing, where are his assists and goals? Na 5 assists and less than 10 goals we go chop every season?

Like I said, I never had no problem with Oscar. He's a good player. This is about holding Guapo accountable for airbrushing Lampard out the way for Oscar. Guapo and I been going at it for the last 2 years over this issue. He won't even acknowledge that Lampard schooled Oscar in his old age, after Guapo shunted Lampard aside to make way for Oscar.

I don't mind Oscar in the team, except for big games. But make no mistake, there are many better midfielders out there. Niggas should just stop gassing after one good game in months. Hazard is his agemate and doing it weekly.

I get you point really. But name ten number 10s, 23yrs and under that are better than Oscar. The fact that you'll struggle to name 7 sef is proof that Oscar is top level. We are building a team for the future that can be equally able to compete at every level now, and Oscar is almost perfect for us in that regard.

All I can say.

it will surely happen unless Oscar learns to play as a genuine central midfielder

I'm guessing that you prefer the Classic number 10 type player.
Oscar is not a genuine Central Midfielder, he is a 10, a modern day 10. And whether he gets dropped or not depends on the direction of the team. If Jose Continues with this high press 4-2-3-1 system, Oscar is going nowhere. He is almost indispensable. He only gets dropped when Jose wants to play a Counter attacking style, or a 4-3-3, where Willain or Ramires is preferred respectively.

Check the previous page. His stats since joining Chelsea is 36 passes a game - FACT!

Bros Ibime, what is your argument really? I'd like to know.

Oscar doesn't dominate possession? In a 4-2-3-1 system, that's the job of the double Pivot(6/cool players. He had an average of 36 passes per game, so what? You want to blame him for José's negative, albeit pragmatic approach? Sometimes last season the whole team didn't even make up to 300 passes.

Lampard is better than Oscar? That's not even an argument, Lampard is miles better. Can Oscar get to Lampard level? Yes, he is showing improvements already, he can get there.

Is Oscar a top Class 10? Yes he is, in a 4-2-3-1 system. He is a top class modern day 10. In a 4-3-3, not so much. It's pretty obvious, Jose has preferred to use Ramires as the Shuttler and Cesc as the 10 when we play 4-3-3.

And yes, I don't really like using stats to argue, but Oscar has 3 Motm performances already this season and as much assists as he had last season already, if that's not improvement, I don't know what it is.

By the way, Match Day... I hope to see Nathan Ake play, big fan of the kid.

If Oscar ever had a 30 passes per 90mins game, it'll be one of those Chelsea Park the bus/Counter strategy game, and you can't really blame the player for that.

Chelsea started playing real expansive football this season. I dare Ibime to show me a game where Oscar had only 30 passes this season.

I'm not a football scholar but I'm pretty certain that in a 4-2-3-1 (the formation Chelsea employs most times), the number 6 and 8 are responsible for controlling the game, recycling/dominating possession. Oscar is a number 10. He is not Modric or Schweinsteiger or Kroos, those are 6/8 players and even at that Oscar has shown that he can dominate possession as well on his day as he did against Villa, Sporting and Palace. He had 90+ successful passes and 100+ touches against Palace, he just needs a little more consistency.

I'm not a big fan of comparing Oscar to Lampard, cos frankly, Frank is a different type of beast, but Oscar is not half as bad a Ibime tries to paint.

Plus, for all you guys that run to squawka to dig up stats to support your Mr A is better than Mr B arguments. I've got 8 words for Y'all;

IF STATS ARE USEFUL, SCOUTS WOULD BE OBSOLETE.

By the way, Felipe Luis is one awesome player. He offers so much offensively and he is still solid in defense. I'm not sure I saw a player beat him yesterday. Azpilicueta might use some bench time, no because he isn't solid, but I just think Luis offers so much more on that left hand side than him and Ivanovic is currently beasting on that right side.

Ramires improved offensively this season, however his defensive side is poor. All these Matic talks won't hold if he took one for the team during that break away that led to Schalke's goal.

The whole team had changed this season, we're pressing high up the pitch. How many times was Terry Pressing player the other side of the half way line yesterday again? Compared to last season. Therefore we will always be vulnerable to counters. Also I've asked some Benfica fans and they say Matic always begin a season slow, so no surprise he is a little bit off his best. He will come good still.

Meanwhile Julian Drexler was on fire last night, big ups to the kid. Who else saw that sexy control on the half way line on one of their breakaways? Christ!

Forget Costa, Hazard and Cesc are made for each other.

P.S: Drogba is goooooooooooooooooone. Thank you King Didier, for everything, but just respect yourself and no play any other match abeg.

We are going to have (Andreas) Christensen and (Nathan) Ake, who are 19-years-old and coming from the Academy. We are going to have training with us, but also playing for the Under-21 team, (Dominic) Solanke, (Jeremie) Boga and (Izzy) Brown. The other ones who are a bit older, 20 or 21, we feel they need to compete against men in a different league, people like Bamford, Swift, Chalobah. They are ready to go to other clubs and have a good loan.

What we are trying to do, and we believe we are going to be successful, is in a few years’ time, when they are between 20 and 23, we will have them back at the right moment and in the first-team squad.

Jose doesn't rate Lewis Baker? Why didn't he mention him.
