BeloHorizonte14:While it is true that workstation hardware and gaming hardware are essentially the same on the inside and share the same guts, workstation grade hardware is made to last longer and be of more durable materials, this logic also holds true for workstation vs gaming graphics, so whereas a workstation graphics card might not perform on the same level as a gaming graphics card, it is built to be a lot more durable with the added benefit of being properly optimized for professional software, so whereas a workstation graphics card may not be as good as a gaming graphics card in gaming, it would be a whole better at doing things like 3D modeling or video editing as you have well balanced performance whereas the performance may be more inconsistent with a gaming graphics card. You also get way better customer support so if you have any problem with something such as drivers, or adobe after effects not making use of your CUDA cores on the highest performance level, you can call up the card manufacturer(or other hardware manufacturer) and have your issues resolved very quickly as they know that you use their hardware(or software) for business and that it's failure to do work makes you lose money. So essentially workstation graphics cards aren't as good for gaming because they are made to a certain extent to allow optimal(balanced out) performance across the board for the spec for softwares, gaming cards are made to drive as much or as little performance as possible depending on the spec for games which means that a workstation GPU would not work to get say 80fps where possible e.t.c. You can also do more research online as there are various reasons why the vary, main ones though are; Price, Software reliability, Performance, Throttling. Support readiness, Durability and Workload. |

BeloHorizonte14:The thing is there are actually a lot of good ones, Asus Republic of Gamers(ROG) line, Toshiba's Qosmio line, Dell's Alienware line, MSI's gaming line etc but the thing is most of these PCs don't come cheap and to get one that's a complete package makes it a lot harder. Personally I use a Toshiba Qosmio currently(it's actually for sale on nairaland at the moment) but have used a lot of Laptops over the years and one thing that I know as fact at this point is as long as you know what to look for in specs and know appropriate pricing and don't try to cheap out, you'd be good to go, although with this types of laptops, you also need to look into cooling. You'd notice I mainly mentioned gaming PCs the reason is other than gaming PCs, you are pretty much looking at workstation grade PCs and that is a whole other story as far as pricing is concerned(not to mention that they are not the best at gaming). Check those brands mentioned above and compare specs and prices and then make your purchase. Goodluck. |

Look at your screenshot and compare it with his, do they look like the same laptop config  His had a 512GB SSD, your PC has a measly 5400RPM hard drive and you're busy shouting powerhouse up and down, his had the W540 NVIDIA Quadro K2100M yours had the W540 NVIDIA Quadro K1100M, his had a 3k display, yours had 1080p, his had a 9cell 99Wh battery, you put yours with a 6 cell 56.16Wh battery. Please who is fooling who You then expanded tabs in each of your screenshots so we would not notice the parts where you were dialing down specs pele but my observational skills are on fleek. But bruv if you even wanted to lie about price, you couldn't even fear God enough to not put a 5400RPM hard drive? |

I like how Bizzle2 picked one apple product(the 13inch MacBook Pro) and drove his points from there and most of his statements are factually accurate. Power windows users never agree that MacBook pros are for workstation uses because there is not much RAM to be had and the processors are limited across the board but this is because most windows power users are essentially engineers who need much more resource allocation for PCs while OS X power users are generally more design oriented and work effectively based on software optimizations. Compare a very powerful windows workstation with the highest configured MacBook Pro and you can be sure that the MacBook would wipe the floor with the windows machine in something such as video editing but if you reverse the roles and do say virtualization, you'd watch the windows machine eat the MacBook as a 3 course meal. Bottomline is both ecosystems and hardware excel at varying levels. Plus all this Fulaman them una no play fair o, how would you straight up compare a tricked out windows PC with MacBook being fully aware that you can have large sized SSDs with I/O rates that are almost ungodly, hardcore RAM cards, over clocked processors and even faster spinning hard drives on a windows PC whereas you are limited to apple's configuration when buying a MacBook Stop the fighting because no matter how long you would like to argue, Bizzle is right as the 13 MacBook Pro is the best you can get in that range whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. If he wasn't we'd have seen ultrabook models that beat it out in this thread. |
