I so much love this. . . But I dont really understand what I can use an oscilloscope for in electronic projects.
Can you PLEASE explain what an oscilloscope is for?
NB :- 200L, EEE

My first advice is "Google It". There are lots of useful materials and PDFs regarding this online.

Now, the briefs.,
If ur electronic project involves simply switching on/off a relay or LED based on only one measured variable, u may not need an oscilloscope.(except if you want to observe for any interference that may disturb it's functionality).

If it incorporates an oscillator, microcontroller, or has to do with communication between two or more devices, then u certainly need an oscilloscope to view the signals or oscillations coz a multimeter cant do it.
An oscilloscope displays these signals as waveforms for ur perusal.

But OP think about your future in-law and the mutual respect that is supposed to be between u two.
I guess u'll find ur answer.

So true. We are way behind. Also money is a factor.

After schooling it occurred to me that I hadn't achieved much practically. I decided to get down and dirty.
Analysing circuit boards in domestic appliances for a start, then a few wireless systems.
I had to purchase a starcomms internet modem (expensive then) just to enable me read and learn more online; coz our libraries had "old-school" books. Technology has since evolved.

Most times, to get certain power mosfets and ICs, I have to go all d way to Oshodi or even Alaba. Well at least I'm lucky to be in Lagos. How those in others states get their components, I dont know.

Nigerian engineers and engineering students surely have a lot of challenges.
Nevertheless, I am certain we will overcome all these some day.
