i did not take a machie ..the scanner is easy to use.. Once you scan it.. It gives you a code and tells you what the code means. And even possible solutions.. About checking a car.. I learnt that one here on Nairaland.. I don't need an expert to check cars for me.. I already know.. What to lookout for indept..its cos I sleep on auto and car section of Nairaland.. And thanks to the gurus here like gazzuzz, mayor123, kingreign, autologic, timifakay and the rest....

agreed..thats how I went to check one eod in ph.. Seller said.. It's just buy and drive.. Nothing to fix except shocks.. But when I checked the car.. There was so much to fix
..starting from bad interiors.. To vibrating engine.. Heavy jerking while changing gears.. Then I scanned the car.. And.. Wahlaaa... It threw over 8 codes.. With 2 of them.. Black in colour.. Showing high voltage somewhere.. I scanned again. And another black code came up to total it to 10 codes.. I just told owner.. To go and fix his vehicle.. That the vehicle needs total overhaul.. When I scan.. It brings out multiple colours based on the urgency and seriousness.. Red coloured code means.. Issue already exists.. Green colour code means..pending issues.. That's.. It hasn't come up yet but it will come up.. Just like a warning.. While black code means.. Danger.. Could damage something more in the car.. Infact.. It's the first time I saw a black code in my history of scanning cars..

All na still buy and drive, until the vehicle decides otherwise.

1. The TPS is the one on the throttle body.
2. the Camshaft sensor is the one on the left side of the engine on the cylinder head
3. The thermostat sensor is the one at the bottom of the Radiator (I checked this and the wire has been cut off)
4. The O2 sensor in on the exhaust pipe under the car ( the wire too has been disconnected).

That surely attracted various interested buyers coz vehicle got sold before I had the time for a physical inspection.

Closer pic of tyre and car seats.
These should get you more interested buyers.

If you can, include pics of VIN and dashboard with engine idling.

I'm not a professional at this, but when I'm looking to buy a car, these are some things that appeal to me before talking of a deal.
As regards the deal, a physical inspection could make or break it.

The idea is to get as much information as you can about your vehicle.
Then you have to answer the tough question.

"Are you willing to do all it takes to keep your range/legedis alive and active?
Can you handle it?"
That's a decision for you alone to make.

Octane Booster can't do much with our fuel. If you think it will raise it close to 95 you just played your self .
Most octane boosters on the market don't deliver anything close to what they claim, they might prevent the onset of knock / pre ignition . but do not expect much from them ..

Ninety what? Most struggle to reach 91.
A centre for such research carried out tests on some octane boosters. Only a few delivered what they claimed. The results of Abro and some others were appalling.

The car has knock sensors. As long as you get good fuel you'd be fine.

CEL means Check Engine Light and normally comes up at turn of ignition to ON position (note this) then go off after starting d engine (note this as well).

When check engine light is permanently on it may indicate a simple problem that is easy to fix – such as a loose fuel cap. Or, it may be a warning of a more serious problem.

CEL is the first yellow light at top left corner in image below.

First, octane booster. For how long? Which one can be trusted? Is it Abro?

Secondly, without booster, engine worries. One user told me he got his mechanic to open up and clean the engine once in two years. How realistic is this?
I'm don't think I would like to have my car's engine opened up that frequently.

But then, a lot of such vehicles are on the roads and they seem to be surviving. Hence my questions.
